The Battle for Runeterra

Ok, people, this is the next game up. :p

We're looking at a pretty simple (by my standards) 30 person game here. It'll be good fun.

As I've said elsewhere, no knowledge of the game is necessary to play and having knowledge won't help much. LoL doesn't exactly have a deep story... :p

The only fancy gimmick I'm introducing here is the concept of Ultimates. Every role gets some sort of one-shot boost to their normal power or some sort of other boon called an "Ultimate". They're not individually game-changing, but judicious use of Ultimates by town or scum can lead to some big plays.

Also, items. Items are fun. :D

It's probably the best free-to-play game going right now. It certainly doesn't feel "freemium". However, as will all competitively leaning multiplayer games, there are a fair share of jerks.

But, as I said before, knowing the game isn't critical. Knowing about the game might give you more enjoyment of the narrative, but there won't be any practical use in knowing the game.

For example, you'll never have to scramble to figure out what character is performing actions in the write-up so you can tell what faction they belong to based on their allegiances. It'll be consistent and transparent enough so you guys don't have to play that game. (Without screwing things up for the scum, of course.)

Two things.

1: Comradebot, best use of that gag ever. I usually hate that legen





dary gag. But that cow pic was awesome. I actually had to think how it was supposed to fit in. Thank you so much for cutting Astil off at the pass with it.


2: I think I'll be skipping this game. If it turns out I'm needed, I'll play. But I'd prefer not to until the new year arrives. I don't feel like Mafia really fits with the spirit of the season.

I really don't have the time to commit to Mafia at the moment--after all, I had asked to be a sub in Wire Mafia and that didn't exactly work the way I had planned. With the League taking most of my free time, and winter coming up (I may not plow anymore, but I could still have the hours put on me since I'm still with the Dept. Of Transportation), I'm likely out until spring.

I hate to suggest this, because I know how long the long form mods wait to get their turn. But should we consider shelving this until the new year, and running a short form game through the holidays for those interested?

Mass Effect is only ideas still and I don't want to smush this into a short game.

If there are no takers, I can always whip up a "mostly generic short-game for the bored diehards" in the mean time if it doesn't mean me losing my actual spots. ;) (Or, someone else can do it if they want to mod something, I'm just offering.)
