Jimmy's head was pounding. He clutched at the back of his head. Man, that must have been one hell of a night out to have this bad a hangover...

Jimmy remembered what had happened, he opened his eyes, then had to check that he had because everything was the same as when his eyes were shut. He sat up quickly, banged his head hard, and slipped back into unconsciousness.

Jimmy woke up and opened his eyes, still nothing. His forehead how throbbed in unison with the back of his skull. He reached his hands up, whatever he had banged his head on before was gone. He sat up. On the far wall he could see the outline of a door. He got up and walked towards it, his legs not feeling like his own. As he reached out to touch the door it slip aside. Jimmy blinked in the bright light

Do you think I had not thought of that? The very moment I detected the vortex I scanned it with every instrument at my disposal. Haemogoblin's Troll Magic is from a different dimension, I could not get a single reading that meant anything in the short time it was active. Ms Hitchins and Ms Gomez are gone, and knowing the troll as I do I'm afraid it won't have been somewhere pleasent. I'm so sorry I could not do more, in truth I only made it with moments to spare to save you.

The Disc requires redemption boy, for you to make yourself worthy of the Powers of the Disc again. You must prove, in your heart, that you will continue to fight, regardless of the Disc. You must continue to be a force for good and become one with yourself, Jimmy James, or all is lost, for all time.

A door opened in the wall and daylight streamed in. Jimmy looked outside to see his SHPD Precinct across the street.

Jimmy woke up.

He's survived a pretty bad fall a few days ago from the looks of it, no broken bones but a couple of pretty big bumps to the head. He should get some rest, that's my advice Sergeant.

OK Doc, I'll be sure to tell him when he wakes up.

Jimmy heard footsteps walking away and the door shut.

You can open your eyes now, he's gone

Jimmy opened his eyes. He was laying on the couch in his office, although he didn't remember it having a Hello Kitty duvet or comfy pillows on it before.

Ravenholme. Cactus Man and I tracked down Sulphur. Robyn and Wyllow tracked us down and we all went in together. We took down Sulphur but... something went wrong. There was another villain, a powerfull one. He sucked Robyn and Wyllow into a vortex... Cactus Man killed Sulphur, and it killed him... they're all gone.....

Jimmy began to cry. Sandy rushed over and put her arm around her boss.

TWO WEEKS LATER

Jimmy had spent the last couple of weeks recovering. Sandy had said she could handle things for a while longer. Besides, it seemed that with the Masters of the Underworld leaderless that things truely had calmed down in San Habbershon, at least to the point where The Union could actually handle things. But the time had come for him to return to work, so he figured he'd get back into the swing of things with a little gun practice.

Jimmy pushed the target recall button and waited. While the motor whirred the gun tech wandered over.

Jimmy did so. Suddenly his right eye was full of a view of the floor. He raised his arm in surprise and the view skewed to look to his left. He looked at the gun.

That's why they gave it to me. I'm developing a load of non-lethal rounds for it. There's a side-arm that goes with it, but it's basicly a long range ballistic tranc-dart pistol with a scope linked to the eye-piece. You hold one gun, you see through that, you hold both, you get split screen, you hold no guns...
(Jay took the rifle off him and the eye-piece cleared again)
You can override it with this button here on the grip of the rifle or the side of the eye-piece... man, I'm like a pig in s**t!!

Jimmy took the eye-piece off and gave it back to Jay.

He strained his hearing. Her could hear screaming in the distance. He looked over the edge as it got closer. A woman ran down the street, dressing in only her underwear. As he looked up the street in the direction she had come from he heard a car's tires screech as someone slammed on their breaks. A car began reversing up the road. A black figure landed on the hoor of the car and it skidded to a halt. The driver got out and ran. The figure jumped off the hood and ripped the car door off.

It was obviously a massive gorilla, dressed in an army uniform with a gun, but Jimmy noticed it had an eye-piece very much like his own attached to its helmet.

He saw the ape's hand fly to his neck. It pulled out the dart, looked at it and stumbled. The ape shook it's head, and waved his gun around. When it stopped the gun was pointing right at Jimmy. Jimmy saw the ape take the cigar out of its mouth and smile.

Two Frag Grenades arced towards Jimmy's hiding place. He got up to run but was knocked down by the blast. He lay there, his leg trapped under some rubble. He could hear the ape climbing up the side of the building. He looked for his rifle, it was out of reach. He looked back, the gorilla had just hopped the edge of the building. Jimmy scrabbled for his pistol.

It felt strange to Jimmy as he climbed the building. Over the road was the first place he and Robbie had ever worked together. He remembered it like it was yesterday, the way her rhyming grated on his every nerve as Cactus Man. Jimmy had always loved it, but Cactus Man had had to learn to deal with it. The one thing Jimmy didn't miss about the Disc, the compete personallity change. He was sure that if he'd been able to work with her as himself, then maybe she would have told him how she felt that much sooner. He reached the top of the fire escape and set himself up on the rooftop. He scanned the windows of the building opposite.

Jimmy woke up at the sound of the alarm and turned it off. He got up and walked out of the bedroom.

It was strange staying in Robbie & Tegan's place. After Jimmy left Robbie's parents he visited Tegan's. They had also welcomed him in with open arms. Tegan's father had told him that it was Tegan's wish that Jimmy live in their apartment rent free and, dispite Jimmy's objections, had all Jimmy's possesions moved to the apartment, forced the keys in his hand and wished him well.

It had been a week but it was still weird. He still expected Robbie and Tegan to walk through the door. He'd found a copy of 'The Legends of Robyn Hood' on Congo.com, but he was trying to pace himself. He knew the overall story, he knew the outcome, but to learn more about the life she lead was something to be savoured. Jimmy had always figured that it was all a load of folklore, but the picture was just too acurate. And the book was endorsed by The Order of Loxley, official historians of Middle Ages Briton, so it was probably the closest Jimmy was ever going to come to knowing the truth...

It hadn't been easy getting funding but he'd got it cleared and the enhancement work was finally finished.

When Ape-X was captured no one would take him, not even his 'cousins', the Ape'd Crusaders, so Jimmy had popped down to the zoo and arranged something himself. The Union went in to save him, but I think the studio are getting embarrassed. So, they'd like some low-key back-up, a way of 'The Try-out's' actually taking down some enemies before the viewers give up completely...

Stupor Man got up, ran at her and swung a Punch at her head. He slipped on some water and missed, Jimmy took his chance.

RPM Sprinted about in a blur, swinging Punches & Kicks at Deep Red, but she managed to avoid or block them all. She judged it just right and delivered a Big Punch to where RPM was about to be, the young hero ran straight in to her fist.

Stupor Man reached the car, took the bottle off RPM and slugged half of it down before smashing the bottle on the floor and getting in the limo.

Jimmy was once again off to try and finally have a chat with Ape-X. He'd tried a couple of days previously but Ape-X was watching his favorite show on his new TV, The Union. He found it so amusing when National Goliath accidentally stepped on Smouldering Fire he'd laughed for a full hour and Jimmy had just given up! Hopefully today would be better.

Jimmy walked to the enclosure door and knocked. That was the other thing Jimmy wasn't so keen on, but had to allow if Ape-X was going to behave... now the locks were on the inside.

RPM dashed towards them and threw himself at Rook, Highway Mistress' Pistol Shot narrowly missed Stupor Man's shoulder. RPM jumped up and hit a Sprinting Shove on Highway Mistress, knocking her down again. Rook tried to get up, but slipped on the icy ground. Luckily for him it meant that Cali Brrrr's Icicle Spray passed over his head. Stupor Man was not so lucky and took the full force in the chest. Once again he was on his back, not knowing what had happened.

Violet Blur had moved, the round discharged harmlessly into a wall. She hit National Goliath with a Dashing Punch, he swung at her, but his Gigantic Punch missed. A red blur appeared beside the violet one and from what Jimmy could make out RPM and Violet Blur traded blows before Blur tripped RPM and he skidded on his face into a wall. Rook launched an Energy Bolt at her, but she changed direction, heading straight for National Goliath. National Goliath brought his foot down hard, but Violet Blur stopped just short of his Gigantic Stomp. But now she wasn't moving!

The memorial service for Rook was packed. Not with well-wishers, but with camera crews. The death of yet another superhero in San Habbershon had attrracted a lot of attention and the studio had lapped it up, selling the rights to anyone who wanted them. They made Jimmy sick!

An orphan, Rook had very little family anyway, but his foster sister Kimko was the only one who had wanted to come. Apparently his foster parents had disowned him when his powers began to manifest themselves but their daughter Kimko never lost touch. She was sat in the front row with The Union, The Try-Outs and Sandy, her and Sandy crying on each other's shoulders. Neither Stupor Man or Smouldering Fire had turned up.

By the time Jimmy got down to the street the regular cops had picked up Honey Badger & Deft Leopard, cuffed them and taken them away. Ten was surrounded by officers congratulating him, welcoming him to the force, patting him on the back or shaking his hand. Ten was grinning from ear to ear. As he approached they turned and saluted him.

After an exciting morning came the mountain of paperwork that goes along with any police department. With most crimes happening at night it felt to both Jimmy and Sandy that the day was all backwards. At around 7pm Jimmy threw his pen down.

OK, but just one to try and shift this head-ache. And no tequila!

As they gathered their things together and left Jimmy looked out of the window one last time... he had been so sure it was Robyn, that his eyes were not playing tricks on him. But he also knew the horrible truth, no matter how much he pushed it to the back of his mind. He would never see Robyn again, she died on the gallows nearly 800 years ago and there was nothing he could do to change that fact.

One single tear rolled down his face as he turned off the office light and closed the door.

So folks, I know things have slowed right down on here in the last few weeks, this was due to working like a bitch while my boss got his holiday taken at work. I was due to say today that things will pick up again now...

But I'm afraid not. My wife has been offered a really good job in Brighton (she didn't even need to interview for it, simpley enquired about the job and got offered it on the spot!). Now, moving to Brighton has been our vague plan for a number of years so having this fall into our laps is kind of a dream come true :D

The job starts in less than a month and we've got to move home, get our son in a decent school there and generally get the stuff we've collected over 10 years in a 3 bedroom house with massive shed (my wife is a hoarder lol) down to the amount of stuff you can fit into a moderately sized 2 bedrom appartment while still working to pay the bills until we leave :rolleyes:

So I'm afraid fans of Robyn and Jimmy will have to wait a while for the conclusion of their stories. I'm going to try and get both to the final issue of this volume (one away each) but after than it will be after we get ourselves sorted in a new place 270odd miles away that I will stike up the continuing story.

So, my desktop died big-time just before the big move and I lost all the data for my diaries and the I+verse Middle Ages Add-On mod I was doing. Sorry about that folks.

If anyone is interested I could continue the story in a similar style to the 'wiki-entry' style used by others on the board for diaries, but I don't have any of the data left to continue the diary in full at this time.

Let me know folks. I should be able to continue it properly at some point, but I'll be honest and say that when I can I'll be starting from a point a volume ahead of where we are now (due to personal choise, nothing more. The Jimmy/Roberta saga gets more interesting and less angsty from that point)
