Robyn woke up. She could hear tweeting birds and the sound of a river in the distance. She opened her eyes. Green. As she tried to focus a black blob wandered into her field of vision. As things came more in focus she realised she was laying face down on grass and the blob was an ant. She tried to roll over but her body would not respond. Then she heard voices

Oi'm tellin yow, oi saw a bright light over 'ere...

Thomas, if you've been at Paddy's moonshine again... There's nothing out here!!!

A third voice piped up, somewhat closer

Hey Boss! I found somethin...

Robyn heard footsteps getting closer. She heard a sharp intake of breath.

Two ladies boss...

Corrrrrrr! Oi've never seen a lass wit so little on!!!

Look boss.... I found this on the floor, there's more all over the place. And they're armed too!

Devil worshipers!! No doubt trying to cast a spell on our lord. We shall take them to the castle and let justice be done. Silas, you grab that one, Thomas, collect those satanic pieces from the floor. I shall carry this one.

Robyn was turned over on to her back.

Robyn opened her eyes. This time her body responded and she sat up. She looked around the tiny cell, she stopped when she realised that the huge cloak hunched in the corner was staring at her.

The occupant of the cloak stood up. It was easily 6'10", bare arms built of solid muscle. It stepped towards Robyn, she could still not see their face

Robyn looked into the hood of the cloak, then her head fell and tears began rolling down her face. The cloaked figure reached out towards her... and gave her a big hug.

There there... shhhhhhh....

The cloaked figure released Robyn and pulled back her hood.

Well, I used to be a slave, a pit-fighter. While everyone used swords an axes, I beat um all with my bare hands! I finally earnt me master enough to be free an two days of freedom later the Sheriff's men were bangin on me door, demandin two days taxes! I told um to push off, they didn't like that... It took all the Sheriff's Men an six of the Castle Guards to drag me in here...

Robyn could see a small look of pride in Joan's eyes.

Robyn turned to their small window, the laughter had come from outside. She jumped up to the window. A man in red armour was stood over a man dressed mainly in dark leathers who was on the floor, shaking. The man in red was holding Wyllow's taser.

A balding man with long hair was stood to one side, examining Robyn's arrows.

The three men turned. A muscled man with long blone hair walked into the courtyard.

All four men had dropped to the floor in shock. For the first time Robyn noticed a figure sat in the shadows on the other side of the yard.

He had not even flinched at the sound of the sonic boom. He simply looked up as a cloud of feathers drifted slowly to earth. He looked back at the men as they got up off the ground and smirked.

Robyn grabbed the keys off the guard's belt and ran into the corridor. There was a guard there with his back turned. She noticed a chain hanging from the ceiling. She ran, jumped, grabbed the chian and delived a Swinging Kick to the guard. His head smashed into the wall and he was down for the count. Robyn rounded the corner and unlocked Tegan's cell

Robyn grabbed a Regular Arrow and fired. The Captain raised his shield and the arrow pin-wheeled away. He threw a Throwing Knife at Robyn but Robyn managed to dive out of the way in time. She hid behind a barrel.

Robyn looked over the barrel. The Captain had a large dent in his helmet, a rock lay on the floor. She looked at the cart, Joan waved at her. The Captain staggered but did not go down. From out of the shadows Wyllow launched herself, delivering a Vaulting Dropkick with a halberd shaft that Joan had snapped the head from. The Captain stumbled backwards and landed on the floor, dropping his sword. Michelle rushed forward, picked up the sword and held it to The Captain's throat.

Good question.

I began by planning on having just this one area placed in the Elix Vitie dimension, then my mind started to bubble and it's ended up as three locations in the Middle Ages (in the past, rather than an alternate dimension)

I figured a world where superheroes are real would mean that all those myths, legends and folklore would have been real as well but, as in the present day Infinityverse, slightly different to our own. As the story goes along more will be uncovered (as an introduction and as a way for me to flesh it out ideas wise) until its ready to go into the I+mod. I'll probably release it as a stand-alone mod as well at some point.

The cart trundled along the track, the windows barred and the door at the rear padlocked. Two Castle Guards were seated up front, with two more on the running boards on either side.

As the cart continued on its journey through Snarewood a giant of a person in a brown hooded cloak stepped from behind a tree. The Guard stopped the cart.

The figure stood there, tossing a small rock into the air and catching it.

Joan pulled back her hood, smiled at the guard, and launched the rock at his head

He fell off the cart, unconscious. A voice came from out of the trees.

A Guard jumped off the running-board and started to run up the road. Robyn loosed her Regular Arrow from her hiding place high in the trees

She grabbed the first Guard, picked him up and Body Slammed him. A guard Smashed the Shaft of his Halberd across Joan's back, it shattered.

She delivered a Massive Punch to him that meant he would never eat solid food again! But another Guard had snuck behind her and was ready to run her through.

Robyn loosed a Regular Arrow...

...which went through the guard's hand. He screamed in pain, stared at the arrow in his hand and passed out. Joan grabbed another Guard and Slammed him into a tree.

All the guards were down. Joan walked to the back of the cart and ripped the door off its hinges. The two guards inside Charged at her with their Halberds, one of them badly cutting her side. She staggered back, the Guards jumped down out of the back of the cart.

Robyn's Regular Arrow embedded in his thigh, he went down screaming. The last remaining guard looked around himself nervously, then ran down the road. Robyn fired an arrow & line and swung down, delivering a Swinging Kick to the retreating Guard, knocking him out.

Wyllow used her Quarter-Staff to Sweep the Saracen's legs from under him. He spun onto his stomach, drew his Scimitar and Slced at Wyllow's leg. She jumped back and threfore kept her legs, but the tip of the blade slashed across her thigh

Robyn and Robert were sat around the fire, Joan and Michelle were on 'collection duty', Wyllow and Sister Tuck had gone to check on the people of Wykumn Village and drop off some of the silver pieces that had been 'collected' from the various lesser noblemen and rich merchants that passed through Snarewood on a fairly regular basis. Finally Robyn had a chance to talk properly to Lord Robert of Loxley, who's family line had been an inspiration to her.

She had heard the guards say they only kept the bottom level for dangerous prisoners like her, but there was a level below... she went down the stairs.

Robert woke up in his cell with a start, again soaked in sweat. Even in unconsciousness he couldn't escape the dream. Then the meeting with the Earl of Kent hit hin...

They ducked into an alcove and the guards walked past. As Wyllow lent on a section of wall it swung open, revealing stairs behind leading further down into the dungeons.

They went down the stairs. At the bottom they followed the corridor around, and practically bumped into two guards!

Robert heard the guards outside his door cry out. He had been just about to call them over and garrotte them both with a rope made from his last beloved heraldic tunic.

The keys rattled in the door. Robert readied himself for a fight, just in case. The door swung open.

And Wyllow Scarlet walked through it. She walked straight up to the astonished Robert and planted a big kiss on his lips.

A dog began growling and snapping

As it 'appens Silas did just tell me that they've got 'is Lordship surrounded in the West Tower. 'e's locked 'imself in, they're probably tryin to batter down the doors as we speak but ya carnt get a batterin ram up spiral stairs too easy so it'll be a tough job...

Night was beginning to draw in. Robyn used this to her advantage and took to the Knottingham roof-tops to not draw too much attention. God, how she missed city roofs! These were a nightmare, she had to watch every step to avoid pummetting through into someone's home! And its not like she was in the best condition right now either! She came to the end of the rooftops, it was a good 20ft to the ground entrance of the tower and there were guards everywhere. Luckily for Robyn the were all trying to work out how to get a 7ft long battering ram up stairs with a curve that would only allow a 6ft battering ram and no one noticed Robyn perched on the roof. She looked up at the tower.

She realised Wyllow was leaning out of the window and waving at her. Wyllow was trying to signal something to her. From what Robyn could work out Wyllow was trying to tell her there was no way out of the tower... well, that or that she had run out of toilet paper... Robyn guessed it was the first one. She pulled out an Arrow and Line and knotched the arrow. She looked around herself to make sure no one was watching the tower and fired

The arrow flew through the window of the room Wyllow was in. The line hung down the side of the tower, reaching half way down. She notched another and fired

The arrow lodged inbetween two of the stones in the wall next to the end of the first line. Some mortar from between the stones flew out and showered down on two of the guards. They looked up, then they looked over at Robyn

As several other guards turned and ran towards her she could see Wyllow, Michelle and, yes, Robert of Loxley too, begin to climb down the lines. Captain Tanner emerged from the tower's entrance

Seven guards advanced on Robyn, but as long as she stayed on the roof and out of range of their halberds they could not reach her. She notched a Regular Arrow and fired

Wyllow reached the bottom of the first line and reached for the second. A Crossbow Bolt rebounded of the wall next to her hand.

Wyllow watched Michelle fall as the Guards reloaded their crossbows. Michelle went through a cloth awning that was attached to the wall below and landed on a pile of sacks. She was still moving!

Wyllow jumped for the second line just as the guards fired their Crossbow Bolts, missing her. She slid down the line. She couldn't help but be glad she had put gloves on, the leather of the gloves beginning to smoke as she slid down. She hit the ground and rolled, pulling her Quarter-Staff from her back in one fluid motion and Sweeping the Legs from under a Guard before spinning around and Smashing the end of her Quarter-Staff into another guard's face.

Robert followed Wyllow's example and hit the ground fighting. Two Guards fell to the Slashing of his Sword before it came up against the shield of Captain Tanner.

Finally, I get to cross swords with my old student again. I taught you everything you know boy! There's those that rate you the best in these lands, I aim to show them that you aint a patch on your teacher!

Tanner Swung his Sword at Robert, who parried the blow and delivered a Sword Thrust of his own. The two traded thrusts and blows, neither taking the advantage, the Captain's shield making up for Robert's obvious superior skills. Finally Robert Thrust his Sword, it sliced across the Captain's shield arm, he dropped the shield. Robert hit him in the face with the Pommel of his Sword, the Captain stumbled and fell back

Tanner Kicked Robert's feet from under him, got to his own and put his sword-tip to Robert's bare chest.

The Captain turned. Wyllow held her Quarter-Staff like a baseball bat and Smashed Capatain Tanner around the head with it. He went down hard.

Wyllow looked at her Quarter-Staff. It had snapped around the Captain's head, the other half of it had spun away and knocked out the last guard who was running away. Wyllow had taken out her fair share and Robyn had dispatched the rest from her rooftop perch while Captain Tanner and Robert had been duelling

Wyllow reached her hand down towards Robert

He took her hand and got to his feet. He looked deep into her eyes

He lent forward to kiss her. Her eyes opened wide, Robert turned. A Guard had his knife raised about to stab Robert. The guard began to gurgle and his eyes rolled into the back of his head as a bloody swordtip emerged from his chest. It retracted and the guard dropped to the ground.

Michelle was stood behind him, with her weight on one leg, clutching her ribs. She smiled, her teeth red with blood.

Wyllow was torn, but knew Robert was right. Michelle saved Robert's life, they had to try and save hers. They ran for Mickey's Tavern. Besides, Robyn had probably gone on ahead

Dearest Joan, they did the right thing... poor Michelle, I only hope the poultice and herbs can make her well again. Thank you, Aunty, for having the strength to relocate that which I could not. Her fate is in God's hands now, but at least she is not already by his side...

Joan still looked angry. Robert, now fully dressed again, put his hand on her shoulder.

Aunty... if we go back now we would arrive at day-break, with no way into the castle and the guards at their most watchfull... we would be running to our deaths. We must trust that she will return to us. She is most probably on her way to us now...

Wyllow was stood apart from the others. She had been looking through the meagre medical supplies that remained from what she had arrived in Snarewood what felt like forever ago, hoping to find what she would consider some proper pain-killers for Michelle, not ground up willow bark. She had been sure she still had one ampule of morphine left and had reached the bottom of her bag when she found it. She also found a note. She read it.

From the way the grey fabric over her face had lightened Robyn guessed the sun had come up. She never saw the face of her attacker the previous night, he had grabbed her from behind and knocked her out before she had time to look. When she had awoken some time ago her hands were chained to her feet and she had a hood over her head. She had done a lot of soul searching in the last few hours and she knew that this was right. This was the way it had to go. She was so glad she had written that letter to Jimmy all those weeks ago. She knew that Wyllow would understand when she found it, that she would find a way of making sure he got it, somehow.

You can't change history. It was the one thing she remembered from that boring science program they made her watch on Temporal Science for extra credit... what happened, happened. In her note to Wyllow she had wished her and Robert a long and happy life together, and she truely meant it. She knew they would, she'd read the books...

She heard keys in a lock turn.

It's time for you to go meet your maker Miss 'ood! And when ya get there four o our mate 'll be there waitin to give you a good kickin for last night too!

Her ribs exploded with pain as the guard Punched her hard.

Ay, calm down! Ya want 'er t be able t walk t her own execution, right?

Yeah, I s'pose...

Robyn felt herself get picked up. She may have accepted her fate but she wasn't going to make it easy for them, she let herself go limp. They struggled for a second before getting a grip and carried her by the shoulders out of the cell.

One of the guards must have slipped, because they suddenly dropped her. She hit her head hard and blacked out. When she came around she could tell through the hood that she was just emerging into the light...

So folks, I know things have slowed right down on here in the last few weeks, this was due to working like a bitch while my boss got his holiday taken at work. I was due to say today that things will pick up again now...

But I'm afraid not. My wife has been offered a really good job in Brighton (she didn't even need to interview for it, simpley enquired about the job and got offered it on the spot!). Now, moving to Brighton has been our vague plan for a number of years so having this fall into our laps is kind of a dream come true :D

The job starts in less than a month and we've got to move home, get our son in a decent school there and generally get the stuff we've collected over 10 years in a 3 bedroom house with massive shed (my wife is a hoarder lol) down to the amount of stuff you can fit into a moderately sized 2 bedrom appartment while still working to pay the bills until we leave :rolleyes:

So I'm afraid fans of Robyn and Jimmy will have to wait a while for the conclusion of their stories. I'm going to try and get both to the final issue of this volume (one away each) but after than it will be after we get ourselves sorted in a new place 270odd miles away that I will stike up the continuing story.

OBVIOUSLY THERE WAS DUE TO BE MORE THAN THIS, BUT MY HARD-DRIVE WENT CAPUTSKI AND LOST EVERYTHING.

If anyone is interested I could continue the story in a similar style to the 'wiki-entry' style used by others on the board for diaries, but I don't have any of the data left to continue the diary in full at this time.

Let me know folks. I should be able to continue it properly at some point, but I'll be honest and say that when I can I'll be starting from a point a volume ahead of where we are now (due to personal choise, nothing more. The Jimmy/Roberta saga gets more interesting and less angsty from that point)
