Modern Warriors 9.0 (Real World Mod)

Here it is. The current database is sitting at 2,438 fighters. Fight records are fairly up to date. I also eliminated some of the low level PPV companies and made others harder to get deals with. The previous versions of the mod were too easy to make money, and while I need to do more tweaking I've made some progress. As always, I welcome feedback.

Upated 2/28/12: I've caught the mod up through the weekend, so the UFC should be completely up to date. I've also added some new fighters, tweaked some tv deals to make some promotions more challenging. I also did a deep review of Ring of Combat, making their contract structure not as difficult and cleaned up their rosters some. Its up to 2,473 active fighters.

I also included my first attempt at a skin in the full download. Honestly, it's the default skin with an updated start page, but I think it looks pretty good. Here is the new title screen below.

I'm not having ProElite for now. I may add them at some point but from discussions with Adam it's the number of organizations that can really balloon load times. I said the same thing about M-1 though, and added them eventually. So maybe next time. :)

Mostly off by just a couple years or inches, but Megumi Fujii is listed as 28 when she's really 37 and Sarah Kaufman if listed as 6'0 when she's really 5'5 those two are the most notable.

I'm sure most won't really care, but I spend most of my games running Jewels or adding/developing women's divisions to other companies.

Fx yes, fuel don't know. Fx is not available with basic cable.

All big American networks (FOX, NBC, ABC, CBS) are part of every single basic cable package in Canada. Stations like FX, HBO, CW, TBS, etc., come as parts of pay packages.

The problem with the game, and I guess I brought it up in another thread so I'm sorry, is you can't have a TV show simulcast on other channels. For instance, with the UFC, their non-PPV events (UFC on FX, etc.) are broadcast on Rogers Sportsnet. In the game, if you wanted a UFC show in Canada you would have to apply for and run a completely new show. The thing with Fuel is it's not available in Canada (that I know of) but we still get UFC on Fuel because it's broadcast in this country on Rogers Sportsnet. I'd imagine it's something similar for other parts of the world as well -- the UFC runs its shows on Fuel but has agreements with channels in other countries to simulcast the broadcast. I understand that poses a challenge as far as mod-making goes because that sort of option isn't in the game.

What I've done so far is made most of the American channels have reach into Canada at the very least. I feel weird giving FX reach into a place like the UK but I'm not sure how else to do it to make things more realistic. As it stands right now you can't play the game realistically with a company like the UFC because any time you want to run an event outside of America you don't get any ticket sales because the people there can't see your show on TV.

Hopefully simulcasting and broadcast-sharing agreements are in the next version of the game.

I'd like to see MMA prospects get added to debut in the future similarly to Hanette Staack. Henry Cejudo and Jordan Burroughs come to mind.

Do the weights of the divisions match exactly the weights in the title settings?

Most of those guys are not retired and will almost certainly fight in the UFC again. Others I tend to take a liberal view given how often "retired" fighters make a comeback like a month after leaving the sport. Like when Manhoef retired. Or Satoshi Ishii. Or Jamie Varner. Dana White just said literally yesterday he's wanting to do a show in Hawaii and have Penn headline.

Feel free to let me know what I've missed. I'm tweaking TV stations now and I just tweaked PPV in the last release. To be honest, I'm not that concerned about accurate PPV company names as long as playability is good.

It also affects the way the cards are laid out in the pre-history tab, but that's pretty much it. The title histories are the only thing that makes me cringe, but that's easily fixed.

Do you mean save files? Is so put in the mw 9.0 info in where the mw 8 info is, but DO NOT COPY over the save files for mw 9.0. Or make a new folder in the mod section, named mw 9.0 (something along the line).

Me too. Deleted all of these before starting a new game - Hendo v Rashad for the TUF 1 belt is weird.

Mod also needs some work on tv / ppv carriers but the fighter balance is really good. Playing as UFC, you really, really feel the lack of headliners and the fact that it is difficult to build new stars (imo). Really impressed with the mod and it is really close to being outstanding, rather than the very good it already is. Teh world development stuff is not taking away from playing it either.

SporTV shows other major events (like Silva vs. Sonnen I or Lesnar vs. Overeem)
Premiere Combate shows all the events (including preliminary and facebook fights)

I would put all the three UFC events airing only on Premiere Combate because it's rare to see UFC on SporTV or Rede Globo (Globo is going to air TUF Brazil soon), and Premiere Combate shows all the UFC events, (UFC, UFC on FOX, UFC on FX, UFC on FUEL, TUF)

Go to options and turn bypass ceo off.

Also make sure you have the latest patch. It fixes an issue with signing people over 5k.

I haven't looked too deep into this, but I was in the editor and noticed that you have Donald Trump as being born in January 1960. I figured maybe you did this to prevent him from dying off too soon or something along the lines. But then I noticed Mark Cuban's birth year is set to January 1954. Trump and Cuban were born in June 1947 and July 1958 respectively. I only looked at Trump and Cuban, so I'm not sure how everyone else looks. It's a very minor thing, but just pointing it out in case it was an oversight.

This is half our fault and half the natural order of the game. We need to go through and make sure orgs have the folks they actually have on roster currently. Orgs like Jungle Fights, DEEP, KOTC, TPF, M-1, and Jewels are pretty empty when they have more talent IRL then that.

However some of these promotions, (M-1, SFS, KOTC and ROC) naturally as regional promotions, are supposed to move through talent quickly.

We could also do alot on the camp end of things, as most, if not all, of the slowdown comes from fighters filling camps. This is unrealistic, and can lead to some silly late generational talent explosions. (Jose Aguilar P4P #1!)

It's a headache. One that saps a lot of our time, with us sifting through anecdotal media reports, when we want to be doing more substantial things.

With all of that said though, the game is always designed to scan through every fighter and as our roster is gigantic(and only going to get bigger) it's something that's always going to be an issue.

RAM is helpful, if your under 2GBs, but patience is really the only prescription here.

We could also do alot on the camp end of things, as most, if not all, of the slowdown comes from fighters filling camps. This is unrealistic, and can lead to some silly late generational talent explosions. (Jose Aguilar P4P #1!)

Yeah, that's why when ever I get a new version of MW, i take out all of the dead orgs and all the camps that have no big name people in it and have few high level stats.

I believe the .zip download comes pre-sorted for you. Simply unzip, then double click on the folder, then drop the folders inside Database, Pictures, and Skin(this is optional) folders into the folders in the games directory. [too clarify, you want to double-click on the database and pictures folders; you can also just allow Windows to merge them for you, your call]

All big American networks (FOX, NBC, ABC, CBS) are part of every single basic cable package in Canada. Stations like FX, HBO, CW, TBS, etc., come as parts of pay packages.

The problem with the game, and I guess I brought it up in another thread so I'm sorry, is you can't have a TV show simulcast on other channels. For instance, with the UFC, their non-PPV events (UFC on FX, etc.) are broadcast on Rogers Sportsnet. In the game, if you wanted a UFC show in Canada you would have to apply for and run a completely new show. The thing with Fuel is it's not available in Canada (that I know of) but we still get UFC on Fuel because it's broadcast in this country on Rogers Sportsnet. I'd imagine it's something similar for other parts of the world as well -- the UFC runs its shows on Fuel but has agreements with channels in other countries to simulcast the broadcast. I understand that poses a challenge as far as mod-making goes because that sort of option isn't in the game.

What I've done so far is made most of the American channels have reach into Canada at the very least. I feel weird giving FX reach into a place like the UK but I'm not sure how else to do it to make things more realistic. As it stands right now you can't play the game realistically with a company like the UFC because any time you want to run an event outside of America you don't get any ticket sales because the people there can't see your show on TV.

Hopefully simulcasting and broadcast-sharing agreements are in the next version of the game.

Also we in the US also get the BBC. However, like FX, it's targeted for American viewers with only the best original series and newscasts making it over. Almost all programming on the network is seasons(series) old in the UK.

Because of this, I feel we're in the right leaving them as American only providers. Now, if you want us to add FX Canada I would be down for this, but it would have to be case-by-case. We can't just call ESPN UK, ESPN US, because those two networks are miles apart in ratings in their respective countries.

They're all different channels, with different groups of content providers, and different views towards MMA...

However, stations like NBC is the exact same in Canada as it is in the US. An ex would be is if their is a breaking news thing on NBc in the US, it is also on in Canada.

No, but I set all the fighters to the same age, cleared their pro records and set their debut dates to the same year (pre the starting date/year of the DB). Also cleared title histories and fight teams/camps.
