Every time a new TEW comes out there are countless amazing features added and the game improves 10 fold. Obviously there are more things that can be added or Adam probably wouldn't be doing this. I am starting this thread for a couple reasons. So obviously these are just opinions of what you think and not what you want. Basically this is a feature prediction thread.
1) What is the next big feature to take center stage in TEW for this years game? What about future versions of TEW?
2) What do you think are the sure fire things that will be added to this version?

Interesting thread. I would add I'm not assuming that there will be a TEW 2015 based on this same engine. Adam usually doesn't like to stay stagnant.
I think its 50-50 if there will be another TEW game based on this engine. Which could either mean it would be the last TEW or that Adam will want to add features to the next version that cannot be done with the current engine.
I hope he keeps it up, I'm just thinking about what might happen.
I think contract negotiations will be expanded.
I think we'll have more locations (like India).
I think the in game website will be expanded with more interactive bits. I think Adam enjoys this part but he's been building the foundation.
Workers will be more interactive with the player.
Entertainment based promotions will be better handled by the CPU. The SWF (assuming they are similar to the TEW10 version) won't bounce to cult as often.
Brutes won't score overness at will by being brutes.
The interactivity between worker and player will be the big feature that will include many smaller features.

I'd be surprised if the following wasnt improved on...
- Angles. A simpler, quicker, better and hopefully single-screen way of booking.
- Better implementation of the 'angles improved/lowered show grade vs matches' rule
- Star Quality and the impact it has. (This also includes correction of Cesar Sionis' errorneous low rating...)
- Worker priorities. $$$
As for future editions, I think this version is going to nail it. So I dont know just how much is going to be left to improve on.

Better, faster, easy to play multiplayer games with 2-8 people. :P

My guess the next big change will be in regards to booking, making it more intuitive overall. I am struggling to remember what the big improvement was in 2010 though, it's been too long.

My predictions are as follows.
1: TEW will be jumping to the same system that CBH runs on allowing for more workers and promotions and faster game play.
2: The booking team will be brought back and will have better interaction with the player as far as in giving advise.
3: Workers will now contact player asking if they can be a part of your promotion.
4: More interaction between a player and worker.
5: A NWA style of alliance will be possible between promotions.
6: Midget wrestling,nuff said!

Drag and drop booking, IMO. It really streamlined the process for me. Keyboard entry is easy enough too but sometimes I'm too lazy to use the keyboard :p

there are a few things that I would like to see...some have already been mentioned...here are a few that I would like to see, but not sure if they will make it...
1. expansion of areas available (India, South Africa, Korea)
2. More detailed regional areas (i.e, Florida, Texas, NoCal, SoCal, prolific areas of Japan, Germany/Italy, etc.)
3. Arenas want to agree with exclusive deals with a company
4. Ability to create your own network (WWE network)
5. Bring back the show slots for network programming
6. Now, since I was a network guru on the old system, a better way to utilize the networks in Media Corps (i.e, merging of companies, networks breaking away from Media Groups, Media Groups having a profile outside of name recognition).
7. More detailed network definition. Only Cult, Sport Specific and Mainstream is what we have now. I'd like to see: Female based (Lifetime), Male based (Spike), teenage driven (MTV), pop culture (off-branch of Mainstream), over-the-air (ABC, NBC, CBS, etc.), college based (ESPNU, mtvU), Family oriented (Nickelodeon), Comedy based (TBS, Comedy Central), Drama oriented (TNT)
8. Language-type networks. Is a network an English-speaking network? Is it Spanish? Sure, ESPN may reach into Germany as ESPN North America, but what about Univision? Its spanish language programming across the network.
9. Return of the distinct time slots!
10. Over-the-air networks offer one-off specials (i.e. Saturday Night's Main Event, Clash of the Champions)
11. Internet TV option with the amount of hits determining popularity.
12. Internet PPV
13. More detailed network availability (i.e we have Enormous, Big, Very Big...we should have Low-Power or Local Only options)

Aside from the midget wrestling stuff I think you nailed some really good points in this post. And all of them (except 6) I would love to see implemented.
To me though I think the big addition will be social media. Even if Madden they're implementing it, it's just too big of a thing/device/tool now a days not to use. It's bascially how people get information. So perhaps that will overtake the formally used "website" screen, or add onto it. Remember in EWR how they had the website section for rumors and such, a social media screen featuring a form of Twitter (maybe Twutter) would definitely make sense as a new shape/form of TEW emerges. Not saying get rid of the internet section however.
The Internet/Social Media and Booking Team sections all are untapped territory as far as I'm concerned in TEW. And all of them would be HUGE (bold this or add a larger size to it) addition to the game if implemented correctly. Of course I'm not a developer, or a programmer, but I do like the idea of rumors being implemented in a more interesting way and people commenting about their matches/their time with the company, how they feel, starting fueds through social media.
Oh, and workers contacting the booker (us) is a HUGE part of the game that needs to be brought into the next generation. Like the person I quoted said (asking to be a part of the company) that's only the first step. Contact us just randomly for bookings/ideas/matches/requests/permissions and those kinds of stuff. If I'm the boss I want it to feel like a business. But again, I'm not a programmer so I don't know how that would be done.

Workers contacting the booker seems to be a bit of a divisive subject among players. Some want it, to feel more immersed in the game, some don't as it'll be more junk in their inbox.
If it's an occasional e-mail I wouldn't mind, but having multiple e-mails a day (especially in real world mods with many, many more workers) could be a real problem.
Feud requests, worker signings, relationship complaints ("Why's that punk still with the company?" rather than "My girlfriend dumped me...") would all add up, especially if the workers started getting really pushy about it -

I get your point. I don't need the workers to contact me. Just go to the talk to worker screen and have more options. Maybe a back and forth with them would be cool.

I agree with this. It would be fantastic. Imagine a CVerse version of the old umbrella organizations. It could happen in Europe pretty well I think.

Contacting directly would be amazing though "incidents" would be preferable, provided there was an option to say "No, stop bothering me". I would rather see the method alter depending on the year, if it's 1988 then it's phone messages rather than email etc...

A lot of this would be good, BUT I would rather see options linked into the timeframe of the database. For example, if you are running a mod in 1988, then you can select a template with only the relevant options in. Number 2 would be crucial for a period mod as would 10 but 11 internet based stuff would not be relevant.
A "Golden Era", "Territory" "Attitude" and "Modern" setting would help immensely to allow relevant stuff and prevent anachronisms like emails, written contracts and Hell In A Cell in 1985...
Dates are cruicial to worker's debuts, feds so surely other variables can also be date set?

Yes, yes, yes to the aforementioned Umbrella Corp. type gameplay (NWA).
I would also like to see bookers return in a more dominating fashion. Give the booker the ability to make matches (single matches or a full card) and then you go in and fix something if it doesn't make sense to your stoyrline.
I would love to see a gameplay mode implemented in (rather than we the players doing it ourself) for a 'Road To Glory' type gameplay. You start as a independent booker of a small (backyard/local) fed that has local workers (and maybe a local legend close to retirement). Emphasising the fact that it is a local federation means instead of penalites for being in the same arena/area you get points for it because the same fans are coming to see the show and are starting to spread the federations good word because they are addicted to the show.
I believe that we need more control over our child developments. I would love to be able to control the developments more through booking, hiring, training. It could allow for more relationships and better starting grades for the new workers coming up from development. Imagine your Main Eventers/Legends going to the development area to help them gain skills. Or if Main Eventer A says Development Worker A has great potential then the worker would become not only a protege but a trusted friend, and the Main Eventer would want to see that person succeed in the company.
Finally I want to see more worker/player interaction. I want emails from people saying they want a match (or series of matches) against another one because they feel they could put on a great match. I would also like to see other workers (not under my employment) contact me for a job because either their friend who works for me suggested they contact me, or the fact that they believe they are being overlooked. I'm not saying a local wrestler should email the global company, but that Indy star who has won countless titles, tournaments, and had multiple high grade matches could contact me and say "I'm looking to take the next step in my career, maybe you haven't noticed me, or maybe you haven't had the room for me, but now's the time because I am at the cusp of being one of the all time greats." Cocky, yes, Arrogant, maybe, should I hire him, hell yeah sorry I didn't notice you before.

This would be a huge change if it happened. That plus less micro management for lower end events would be my main 2 things

I just thought of something that crossed my mind....
multiple TV tapings over one show! The local fed in my area has one show (two on occasion) a month and they anywhere between 3-5 hours of TV (more like 2-4 with 30-60 mins in recorded promos) per show. Let us have the ability to put together the taping from that show. You get significant penalties for repeat airings of events and talents get upset if they work the taping and none of their angles/segments/matches air on TV.

This would make it easier to make money at Cult probably. Only pay your workers once for 4 tv shows basically. I like it.
1) What is the next big feature to take center stage in TEW for this years game? What about future versions of TEW?
I'll go with realism and uniqueness. A world that feels less robotic, and more alive and unpredictable. More details in your characters and fans that you will need to be aware of when booking your promotion.
2) What do you think are the sure fire things that will be added to this version?
- Quicker load times.
- Better user interface to speed up operations.
- Awesome graphics?
- Booking screen and advanced booking options improved
- Tweak perfect show theory to be based on promotion's product. :)
- New contract types.
- New worker types. (maybe a new form of the staff from EWR will return?)
- Booking team! (i think this was in tew 2005 but didn't offer much...)
How about some MMA Feds in there? Might shake up the world a bit if a UFC equivalent suddenly appeared stealing top workers. :)

I would love for tweeners to be back in the series. I keep hoping this will be announced in the dev journal but I'm not sure how likely it is. Especially with a product with a pretty high face/heel divide, not being able to have tweeners seems limiting to me.

It's not, tweeners are simply a product of good booking. Look at Punk, he was still a face until he kicked Lawler in the head. You may have seen him as a "tweener," but they were building a turn up until that pivotal turning point.

I see what you mean but I more mean a tweener in the sense of being able to wrestler both faces and heels rather than how they are seen, although I guess the two are linked. Perhaps more what I mean is different degrees of face and heel, and different options when turning an individual. For example like you said it wasn't until he kicked Lawler that he became a full heel but the process definitely started earlier, with the whole Rock thing. Some wrestlers have a surprising sudden turn e.g Hogan but some go gradually and in that process fight both faces and heels, Jericho didn't have a sudden turn while going from fighting the then face CM Punk to Ziggler. A face to heel spectrum would be great, but I guess even less likely
I think you're right though that WWE isn't really using tweeners in the traditional sense at the moment, but this doesn't mean it wouldn't be a good addition to the game.
soxfan93
09-09-2012, 01:15 PM
I don't think a "spectrum" is likely, but maybe, once you set the turn in motion, it eliminates face/face or heel/heel penalties? While they could be abused by irresponsible users, that only hurts their personal game, not the honest players.

But even that has a penalty, as eventually, the fans stop caring about him.
