I recently reinstalled as well, and also prefer WMMA 1. I found a folder where I dl'd the Tap or Snap 10 mod and another with the Modern Warriors 1.3, both with the real world fighters and organizations. Pretty happy I kept them as the Modern Warriors has vanished from the internetz.

I have yet to give WMMA2 a second chance, as the beta week left a horrible taste in my mouth. Just a couple of weeks ago, though, I started a new GAMMA game on WMMA and have been having a blast with it!

I've finally given WMMA2 another shot.
I am still disappointed.

I'm playing both right now and I'm really having a hard time getting into WMMA2. WMMA2 added in a lot of nice little things, but removed a lot of the things I really liked about WMMA. I liked building stars from the ground up (it's very limited in WMMA2) and I liked building up 'massive' level fights. It's the matchmaking that makes these game fun, and I think WMMA2 lost a lot of that aspect.

I'd prolly play WMMA1 still if it weren't for the load times (and I have a premium gaming rig, yet the load times were still awful) . . . I liked the booking much better in the first game. There wasn't as much guesswork and having to look at every single profile for every single card you book. You actually had a nice list telling you what people wanted to see so you didn't have to spend hours trudging through your entire roster looking for good matches.

. . . so, I'm giving in. After playing the WMMA2 demo a few times, I've decided that the game should be pretty fun with a real world mod.
