TEW2010 Announced! [Archive] - Grey Dog Software

The news will be appearing on the front page of the Grey Dog web site this afternoon, but I thought I'd give an exclusive to the forum; Total Extreme Wrestling 2010 is on its way!

The fifth game in the series, TEW2010 is scheduled to be available for digital download exclusively via Grey Dog Software for US $34.95 in early 2010. Building on the enormous success of its predecessors, TEW2010 takes the series to new heights with a multitude of great new features and changes, including many of the most popular ideas that have come from this board's suggestion forum.

Be sure to check these forums regularly - my popular Developer's Journal will be starting today, November 2nd, and will be updated every single weekday. For those of you not familiar with the Developer's Journal, it is an ongoing series of posts where I reveal what additions and changes you can look forward to in TEW2010; a behind the scenes look, if you will.

I suspect it means exactly the opposite. While I don't mean to put words in Adam's mouth, TEW is more commercially and critically successful, and probably "easier" to work on from a conceptual point of view. I wouldn't expect to hear anything about Wrestling Spirit until a few months after 2010's release.

Can't say I was expecting this but sweet. Great move to base it on TEW 2008, as 08 is obviously a fantastic game. I like the idea of simply refining 2008. Most excited to see the changes to the Cornell-Verse.

i just checked the GDS website and saw the advertisement at the top with what looked new screenshots, but when i thought about it adam has only just announced TEW 2010 and then the penny dropped, ive been using the grunge graphics for so so long i forgot what the original graphics looked like and it seems like a new game to me now. :rolleyes:

This is probably one of the happiest days of my life... when I heard WreSpi III was the next Ryland game coming out I was so disappointed. Just now coming onto the GDS site (every now and then I check in to see whats going on) and I see the EPIC news!

I feel like I've said this in the past, but... Adam... you - are - the - man. :D

I was wondering how big the size of the logo's are gonna be.

They're probably gonna be kept the size they are now, ecspecially since the game's written over '08. But they've changed before and I've got a huge backlog of logo's that might go to waste...

There are lots of ways to resize picture's, from one size to another. There are actually batch converter's that can do it in litterally minutes.

I wouldn't worry too much about the graphics anyways.... Ever put a picture not the "Right" Size in any of your mods? I have, especially for missing worker's. I don't bother to "cut" them or anything, and they show up the same as the rest, even if they are 10 times bigger. They will distort, but it's pretty easy to find some that have dimensions that are kept relatively right.... Pluss, I've seen alot of distorted cuts as well, lol.

Yay fellas! Two questions about TEW in general. I must admit that I've only played TEW05 for a longer time, so this developments might be already involved in the more recent games - hopefully there's no problem with asking about it in this thread. Firstly, is it possible to book a worker who's already under written contract with a company? A real example would be Samoa Joe. He isn't competing for any company except TNA, but he had one last appearance in ROH when he faced Tyler Black in 2008 for a DVD bonus match (November 22nd, Chicago). I know this case is very rarely, but it would be nice to see this feature in TEW (maybe due to paying a kind of "transfer fee" to the company where the worker's signed)

Secondly, I noticed that the promos are held in the language of the country you're currently in. As an example, if worker X speaks englisch fluently but only basic japanese and you're in Japan at the moment, he'll speak japanese. Why? Bryan Danielson or Kenny Omega have some japanese skills, but they still speak english in Japan (most of the time). Has this been changed since 2005? Thanks in advance! Hope this was understandable and sorry for the little off-topic. ;)

I was hoping a new TEW would be adam's next release, I think theres alot of unfinished business from 2008. this game could be amazing if some of the suggestions ive read for the past year can be implemented ontop of whatever Adam has planned

It depends on what you mean. If he's your worker and someone else signs him to a written deal you have until he leaves to use him.

If he's already on someone else's written deal you can talent trade for him.

Otherwise you have to wait until his contract expires.

I'm not sure what you mean. All the text is written in english so you won't get japanese translations.

Probably. If you're hoping for some kind of open/closed beta I wouldn't hold your breath unless you happen to know Adam personally. That's how derek got in ;)

Seriously though, the process from '08 is that a couple weeks before release Adam released the editor only so that mod makers can test it out and get a jumpstart for release day.

Then I believe a week before the announced release date Adam surprised everyone by releasing it early. I think it was only the trial version but we still had fun :D.

There's no real chance to test the product while it's under development as he's got his testing team already set. Just look at the Credits in '08 sometime and you might recognize a few names :D

As for the testing team, there is one in place already. Adam might expand it at some point but I think it's set for the time being. Plenty of familiar faces in there, some nice guys too. Oh... and Remi. :p

As for the language thing, the other Adam was making the point that the area you hold the show in has language settings and the person cutting a promo will be forced to speak that language or face penalties. Basically, any show you have is being performed to the live crowd and will be rated on what the crowd in the venue thinks of it. So people need to speak the local language in order to do effective promos or the live crowd will simply not care. Similarly, if you have a worker who is only really over in the one area, he will get massively higher grades there compared to anywhere else. I often would book the Colons in big matches whenever I run my WWE games, just because they are more over there and can justify main event level matches despite being midcarders. :)

Dude, if you're complaining about TEW 2008's patches it's only because you never played TEW 2004.

I know, I know ;) How good the worker's promos are depends on their language (and entertainment) skills, right? So imagine you have some american guy with fluent english skills but poor japanese skills (maybe basic), it's obvious that his promos in japanese won't be as good as his promos in his mother language. And if he cuts a promo in a JAPANESE promotion in JAPAN ... He'll do it in japanese. Or at least I noticed this in TEW2005. So it wasn't about the text - Is it possible to book/decide in which language the worker speaks? Like I said, there are a few examples like Claudio Castagnoli speaking german in some ROH promos, Rey Mysterio speaking spanish in WWE or Bryan Danielson speaking english in NOAH/Japan.

In the screenshot of the Workers screen, where you see Marc DuBois' profile (showing off the longer bios), you learn that DuBois is now a champion in SWF; its been so long, I also honestly don't remember if any of the names on the list in that shot were new to the game world either. I'm not looking for groundbreaking info here, I just thoroughly enjoy seeing little stuff like that. :D

Ummmm... the second paragraph of Dubois' profile specifically said it was using a converted 07 database and the only part that was added was that second paragraph, to show off the longer bios.
