View Full Version : 1993 Scenario
Bonjour mes amies,
I was thinking over the possible scenario options (Love DoTT!) and decided to port over the start I made for myself on a 1993 scenario. It's to be set just after Hulk Hogan left WWF, prolly July 16th-ish?
Then I stumbled on a few problems:
1) Outside of the Big 2, I know very little about the wrasslin world then.
2) I've lost all my 93 pictures ( )
So I was wondering if there is anyone out there who happens to know any websites that have roster listings for that particular time for the smaller feds?
Also any budding artisty-types want to make some 93 pics?
And if anyone knows anything about Japanese and Mexican wrestling, who would want to create that side of things?
Any feedback would be nice? (And by feedback, I do not mean "*Wah*, you probably won't do it *Wah!*"
* Also, I have completed the WWF in entirity so far, including titles and relationships. WCW is next!
Best bet is to go over to .400 and download my 1993 game for TEW04. Just download the demo and look at the data.
I could help out. I built mine from lookin at various wrestling sites

Good luck with it - and thanks for the DOTT props. :)
As you said, 1993 is a tough year to research. The good thing about it, though, is that there weren't that many American promotions to worry about - outside of a couple of independants... and Memphis, heh (always Memphis).

Smokey Mountain Wrestling absolutely ruled in '93. Easily my favorite wrestling shows that I have on tape.

Sometime in the first quarter of the year, after a long period of not playing TEW '04, I decided to give a 1992 scenario a shot. I had little interest in America at the time aside from Bret's ascendance to the top, but Japan and Mexico were on the cusp of greatness or already there. I created data for Japan from scratch but never really got into Mexico due to porting some of the American veterans from DOTT and adding new guys or creating most of the stars from scratch.
1993 is a great year for Japan and while WWF was struggling in the post-Hulkamania era, it could be a lot of fun... giving people who want a challenge a good shot at overtaking them as the world power in the rasslin' universe.
After the new DOTT data is done, I'd like to port over the Japanese data and do Mexican data from scratch for a 1992 scenario. If somebody is willing to help out with the few remaining independent promotions in America that would be swell. If that doesn't work out (hell, even if it does, it couldn't be too hard porting over the 92 data and changing things to fit the following year), I'd be more than willing to help you out with Japan for the '93 data.
That is awesome news Oyaji. Feel free to take your time, I'm still doing WCW and I didn't realise how much there was for each worker. ATM I trying to setup Raven (Johnny Polo) so that he is good at wrestling, but is USED as a manager.
Stupid computer AI, correctly pushing the right people in the right spots!
What next, Bret taking the title off of Yokozuna... I THINK NOT!
Hang on a minute?

1993 ****ing sucked. But i'll be glad to help you out with it. I'd like to play a 1993 or mid 1993 game where, after Hogan leaves, I make it more of an in ring product, focused on Bret,Owen,Shawn etc. Sort of like they were supposed to do after Wrestlemania 10...
Its going to be set August 19th 1993.
tnafan, fancy creating Smokey mountain in all its glory for me?
d16njd16 could you perhaps just do USWA fed, with workers etc please?
Anyone know of anywhere to get decent pictures from 1993?

Sorry, I'm not really interested in doing any wrestler mods. There's just too much to consider and I'd probably be pretty biased. Here's a roster from July '93 if you want it. It's from memory of my SMW TV tapes, but it's pretty darn accurate.
Jim Cornette (Owner, Booker, Manager, Commissioner)
Brian Lee
Tracy Smothers
Kevin Sullivan
Dirty White Boy
Bobby Blaze
Killer Kyle
Chris Candido
Tim Horner
Jimmy Del Ray and Tom Prichard (Heavenly Bodies)
Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson (Rock N Roll Express)
Ron and Don Harris (The Bruise Brothers)
Bob, Steve, Scott Armstrong
Brian Armstrong (BG James)
Dutch Mantell
Ron Wright
Robbie Eagle
Tammy Fytch
Jim Ross (Announcer)
Mark Curtis (Ref)
Les Thatcher (Backstage Worker)
Also, Big Bossman, Terry Funk, and the Steiner Brothers make appearances on SMW TV around that time. Dirty White Girl, Sherri Martel, and The Moondogs showed up around then too, but I think it was a little after July.
That's awesome, cheers bud. Is that supposed to be Tammy Sytch or is there someone else called Fytch?
Half way through WCW atm.

Tammy Sytch was called Tammy Fytch in SMW.
Nearly finished WCW, blimey this is hard work, but strangley cool.
Oyiji any luck finishing DoTT yet? I could really do with the old Japanese/Mexican impact.
On a side note, I am deciding on how to setup future stars and it's one of two ways:
1) Set them with their stats as they were when they entered wrestling, with a view to them becoming huge, ala The Rock having 99 Charisma.
2) Have them all start with the minimum basic stats and let evolution/luck do its thing and possibly end up with The Rock jobber to the heavyweight champion Funaki.
Any suggestions welcome!

Well i'd say just make them are they were in 1993. Give guys like Rock decent stats, but low stats in ones that go up, like psychology. I can probly help you will some specific stats for future stars in 1993, who do you have in mind other then Rock
James Casey

Random. There was an '89 mod for EWR that I always felt had potential, but the superstars of today were all in their with great stats which made putting on great shows a bit too easy.
Of course, you can help out the real future stars by giving them a slight boost - something made them stand out from the pack after all. I'd say that things like athleticism and charisma, as you note, are natural gifts rather than something you necessarily learn.
Oyaji
10-19-2005, 12:45 PM
I think the most important stat in that case would be "Superstar Quality".
And it's going to be a while on my end. This week is midterm exam time and it's been hell. I'll get back to you by the end of next week, though.
I'm pretty much going to have as many wrestlers in the game as possible. Although some of the generated stars are quite cool.
'John Blanchard' - Rookie of the Year!
That's cool Oyaji. You'll be pleased to know WCW is finished and now it's on to ECW! I ran a 2 year test and Ric Flair/Bret Hart dominated best matches/wrestlers. The only real surprise was Samu's rise to the WWF World Title, which changed hands 19 times in a year and a half, which was odd. Ludvig Borga 6-time champion.

WCW
Vader
Flair
Roma/Anderson
Dustin Rhodes
Steamboat
WWF
Yokozuna
HBK
Steiners
Well mate if your feeling adventurous and really want to help, you could make USWA or SMW. I need them both done. Then I can import them into the scenario. Let me know, but remember many hands make light work.

10-21-2005, 03:52 AM
With Shockmaster on the roster, you might be able to give him a credible debut
Indeed, speaking of which anyone got a good quality shockmaster picture?
Also last night I ran a 12 year test, just to see what would happen:
WCW/WWF are top two still and in the middle of a war, with Undertaker joining WCW and Flair joining WWF. HBK is the most talented superstar, but has yet to win the World Title. Speaking of which, the WWF's only 7-time heavyweight champion... Marty Jannetty.
Other interesting news, ECW has raised to regional level with Terry Taylor and Tito Santana feuding over the belt. TNA and RoH have both started up and are at small level.
And with the Tazmaniac done I have now finished ECW. Woohoo!
Its really starting to take shape and I'm properly chuffed. Next stop SMW and some free agents.
If anyone fancies writing a Other TV shows file from 1993 that would be a great help, if not I'll crack on after Free Agents.
Also a question, would people like the Legends in the game, like Buddy Rogers etc? They would effectively be there for angles and authority roles, but let me know.

1993 was an unbelievable year for AJPW. Stan Hansen tore that year up, as did Kobashi. Also, the Vader/Sting strap match was spectacular. I haven't ordered this game yet, but hey, pay day is Thursday. :D
McSluggz, interested in helping make 1993 come to life?
If you know a lot about AJPW, you fancy making it for me. Wrestlers, managers etc?
D16njd16 any luck with USWA?
OK then, Smokey Mountain is finished as are a few Legends.
I think next step is USWA as I haven't heard from d16. I also might give Japan a try, although I have no knowledge about it.
You'll be pleased to know that I have at least one colour photo for each worker so far, in some cases 2 or 3.
Total workers made 179.
Any requests for legends?
Johnny_McSluggz

I'm not really prepared to make a commitment like that. There's too many guys, and I don't know if I'm the guy to rate wrestlers.
You should bribe D.Boon's Ghost. He's the master.
USWA is done. I'm going to do a Legends of Wrestling promotion that tours around, just so they are all in one place.

Don't forget to add Rob Bartlett, the memorably bad RAW color commentator from it's inception to late 1993 a little after Heenan left.
For his bio:
(from a 1995 article)
"Rob Bartlett, 43, is a comedian, voice artist, and radio personality, stationed in New York, who is heard daily in New York every weekday morning through his performances on the nationally syndicated radio program IMUS In The Morning, also broadcast on TV via MSNBC."
Will add him, cheers pal.
OK so the legends are done, I believe there to be around 50 in total.
Also added Calgary Stampede Wrestling, with most workers, after all its only small.
I'm working on Global Wresling Federation.
If someone could list the federations in Japan and Mexico and the rosters if they know them?
Also any other suggestions for Canadian and US feds as well as UK and Europe. So in conclusion, list feds and their rosters and I'll amke em.
Who do you have for Stampede Wrestling? I don't have the greatest of knowledge about them during that time but I have enough that I could help if you want.
Weden

Here in the UK, thanks to Greg Dyke cancelling our wrestling (despite it's massive ratings), the scene died a quick yet painful death. You could add a few major British stars, but we had no real notable promotions (after JPUK dropped) at this time.
I believe NWA-UK Hammerlock was around at the time.
Stampede is covered, but thanks anyway.
What I really need is a list of rosters from Mexico.

Just a little taste of the 400 pics I made and gathered so far. I am still looking for a good Eric Bischoff pic from 1993.
I have also established CWA in Europe, run by Otto Wanz. Any other obscure wrestling promotions you guys can suggest?

The UK scene was indeed a complete mess around this time.
All Star Wrestling was running, as were a few tribute and other bits n bobs here and there. NWA-UK Hammerlock may have been around, probably were, but I don't think they'd actually attained NWA status in 1993. The BWF were around, with shady Shane Palmer (or whatever he called himself each week) running tribute shows the length and breadth of the UK...he also ran up hotel and venue bills, whilst not paying people. Other people like Klondyke Jake and Orig Williams were also running shows.
If you're really serious about finding out, go to www.ukff.com and look for J Lister. Or, go to www.1stopwrestling.co.uk and post on the forums, I forget the name of the guy with all the info there though jnlister can also be found there.

ECW was created by Tod Gordon in 1992. Paul Heyman was under ECW's employment in 1993. ECW was known was Eastern Championship Wrestling at this time.
Shane Douglas, 2 Cold Scorpio, Jimmy Snuka, Tommy Dreamer, The Sandman, Terry Funk, the Headhunters, Chris Candido, Public Enemy (Rocco Rock and Johnny Grunge), Abdullah the Butcher, Ian and Axl Rotten (The Rotten Brothers), Tazmaniac (Tazz), Sabu, and many others were employed by ECW at the time.
http://www.accelerator3359.com/Wrestling/showinfo/ecwinfo.html
This would be a GREAT place to start on some ECW research for this time, I googled it seeing as how you guys hadn't mentioned ECW at all, and I can't let my favorite promotion of all time go unnoticed. ECW held shows almost exclusively in Pennsylvania at this time, and for the ECW fed's history in the database, you might want this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ECW website.
I hope that this helps you so that you can create a more accurate 1993, complete with ECW.
HOLY ****

Yeah, that's right. E C DUB
Edit:
Oh, and you might want to remember to put in a lot of the promotion's near-future stars. For ECW this would be people wrestling independently like Mikey Whipreck, Justin Credible, Kid Kash, Rob Van Dam, Balls Mahoney, Tajiri, Guido Maritato, etc. For WWF, most of you probably know better than I do who arrived shortly after this time, and if you have the TEW '04 1993 mod, then you know who was there, and you can guess who would be independent at the time.

Hrm....Legends,....1993,....here's an example of how WCW booked then...
Clash of the Champions XXIII
1993-06-16, The Scope, Norfolk, Virginia, USA
Ron Simmons def. Dick Slater
Lord Steven Regal def. Marcus Alexander Bagwell
Maxx Payne def. Johnny B. Badd (forfeit)
NWA championship: Barry Windham (ch) def. 2 Cold Scorpio
Sid Vicious & Big Van Vader & Rick Rude def. Dustin Rhodes & Sting & Davey Boy Smith
Two out of three falls match: Ric Flair & Arn Anderson def. Hollywood Blondes
Dark Matches:
Jim Neidhart def. Shanghai Pierce
Cheers mate, but I've already done ECW completly.
I'm currently working on future stars.
And I gotta say I can't find the TEW '04 1993 scenario anywhere, but I certainly wont need it for the states or canada.
Have removed the Legends touring company. It was just rubbish and unrealistic. Although I liked its name "Cauliflower Alley Club."
Some legends are on hiatus, some are semi-active and unemployed and others are road agents in various promtions.
I've got it so that GWF goes out of business in 6 months and SMW goes out in about 2 years, which is historically acurate, but also allows the player to try and stop that happening.

Don't forget Hercules or the Brooklyn Brawler, great jobber but had some great matches. Uhm,....Rick Martel? Ouch, I'm trying to think back to my high school days :P hehe oh yeah, wasn't Tony Atlas still wrestling then? Oh, Iron Shiek, Nicolai Volkov, Junkyard Dog, Buck "Yellow Belly" Robley
Got Model, he was feuding with Razor over IC title I believe. Herc and brawler are both in. Tony Atlas was last seen as Saba Simba in WWF about a year previous, so I haven't made him yet.

I now have a total of 300 workers in-game and 7 promotions.
It's nice to see it slowly take shape.
One thing to warn you all of, I'm quite harsh with the stats, I'm a firm believer in Adam's philosophy of 80-90 being truly awesome (Like Benoit technical or Eddy aeriel) whereas 90-100 is legendary, so very few have 90+ for any stat.
You wait until you see Giant Gonzales (Best match i got out of him was against ric flair and bret hart (Who are awesome) and it got C- lol he is the worst so far.

Make sure to look ahead to the WWF of 1996. Cactus Jack debuted in the WWF as Mankind then against Bob Holly if I remember correctly. Just putting in the wrestlers who "should" become stars would be the most important thing I think, because it would be great to take the Rock and be able to do nothing with him because he has nothing but charisma and no wrestling skills. But that's just me, I hate the rock. But yeah, the whole future crop needs to be included, otherwise WWE couldn't be the crappy entertainment that it is now, and there couldn't be "reunion" type shows at the ECW Arena in Philadelphia. If the future crop isn't in the game, then everyone has to rely on generated talent when they know that there should be great talent lying around ready for you to develop.
Also, if you were to make the mod truely realistic, there would have to be small independent feds with people that never have made it. Also, local television stations often pick up these independent feds with rosters of 20 or 30 (And the occassional former "star") for 1 hour television spots in the weirdest time slots that have ever had TV shows. So creating numerous feds that are ran by some 30 year old and have about 15 pay per appearance wrestlers who are all 18-25 years old would not be unrealistic, because that's something that TEW leaves out, since most of these feds are used as *hopeful* stepping stones to the outer world, and it's hard to make it when WWE is likely to sign every one of your wrestlers to contracts just to put you out of business. (And in this day, to WWE, since no one cares about NWA:TNA, no offense to anyone who does, look at me, I stopped watching wrestling when ECW closed. )
Also, TEW 2005 is the first game to handle what happened to ECW when it was going from peak to fall. WCW was at war with ECW, stealing their talent as often as possible, while WWF didn't steal nearly as much talent, AND paid ECW for some of the talent that they stole in compensation. Nice of them.
Edit:
Oh, and if you would post this somewhere, I'd be happy to play with just the USA active so that I could be ECW :p
Lol, thanks for opinion. The future stars certainly will be involved and important.
There are plenty of feds like USWA, GWF, CSW, BCW and CW that had the future stars and that will be included.
Stars like HHH and Rock have good entertainment based skills, but low pyschology.
p.s. I care about TNA and they will be a future fed. And The Rock is awesome.

hope this can help you out
Cheers dude, exactly the same resource I used, old Solie.net.
I've actually finished all of WCW, WWF, ECW, USWA, GWF, CSW, CW, SMW and BCW.
Now I don't know what people think of this idea, but I was thinking of putting some of the future talents into feds that they weren't part of, but have them set as enhancement talents? I know its not 100% realistic, but still? Feedback would be good.
jonlawson
11-10-2005, 05:45 PM
I think it would take away from the realism, myself...
weirdo_man
11-10-2005, 07:10 PM
I think that you could either create small feds that no one has ever heard of that have pay per appearance contracts with some future stars, or just leave them unemployed, because ECW probably didn't usually have enhancement talent so much as they allowed "tiny" and "small" promotions to build up their talent and then ECW would get them over, whereas WWF did have SOME of their talent home grown, but most of their future stars from the viewpoint of 1993 were stolen from other places. So maybe you could make a few tiny feds that could be used for developing some of the future stars in case the person playing the game doesn't feel like working on them when they suck.
What I might do is properly research the time, because I'm sure some future stars did work at tiny indy feds, I just don't know what they are. Possibly IWF and whatever Dory Funk's one was called.
I've got 48 free agent/future superstars to do then I'm moving into Mexico and finishing off Europe.
UK will have one fed in NWA Hammerlock, with one future fed in FWA.
Japan will have NJPW, AJPW and FMW to begin with, but might expand if I can find any kind of info on them.
This has gone from a small bit of fun to a 6 hour a day project, but you know what I can't wait to play it and at the end of the day, that's all that matters.
Seeing as all the good scenarios make these list things, I might as well do it too. Any mistakes or additions, please let me know!

CSW
Martin Kane (Test) didn't debut in pro wrestling until 1998.
GWF
Grey Pierson was the owner of GWF during this time.
Chris Adams was wrestling for GWF during this time.
Al Snow, Chris Jericho, Jake Roberts, Koko B. Ware, Lance Storm, and PJ Walker shouldn't be on the GWF roster.
Paul Levesque was working independents as Terra Ryzing; besides he never worked for the GWF.
"John Hawk" was "Johnny Hawk".
The Patriot (Del Wilkes) was working in the GWF.
USWA
*I don't know if you have it set up, but USWA was a child promotion to WWF at this time.*
"Flex Kavanah" should be "Flex Kavana", although he didn't debut with USWA until 1995.
WCW
Chris Benoit didn't come to the states until 1995. In 1993, he was still in Japan wrestling as "Wild Pegasus".
Terra Ryzing (aka Paul Levesque) wasn't in WCW until 1994.
In August 1993, Kane & Kole changed their name to Harlem Heat (Booker T & Stevie Ray).
"Psycho Sid" was Sid's WWF trademark name. He was "Sid Vicious" in WCW.
WWF
The following are mis-spelled:
"Beau Beverley" should be "Beau Beverly"
"Blake Beverley" should be "Blake Beverly"
"Mable" should be "Mabel"
Free Agents
The following are mis-spelled:
"Loie Spicolli" should be "Louie Spicolli"
Where are the following?
Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake (Ed Leslie)
The Berzerker (John Nord)
Sherri Martel (Sherri Russell)
Typhoon (Fred Ottman)
That's all I see right off the bat.
You should try wikipedia.org - you can get a lot of info from the site about individual wrestlers, promotions, title histories, etc.
Excellent feedback!
I have Test in because I quite like him, but I've removed his contracts and put him on hiatus, to allow a random debut.
Beverly's, Spicolli and Mabel are all correct now. I'm pretty sure it's spelt Flex kavanah, but I'm looking into it.
USWA is indeed set as a child promotion to WWF, as is SMW.
Added missing GWF wrestlers and Owner.
Koko B. Ware and Jake Roberts appeared at the 20/08/93 GWF show. Others have been removed. Also JBL was John Hawk, not Johnny.
HHH is a bit of a problem because at the time he was working the indy scene, however I don't actually have an indy scene, other than GWF, so for testing I had him there to see if he progressed. Come release he will be removed.
Slamboree 93
TAG MATCH: Too Cold Scorpio & Marcus Bagwell defeated Bobby Eaton & Chris Benoit
September 93 Harlem Heat were billed as Kane and Kole in the Wargames match.
Ed Leslie is a free agent.
In a strange idea I had John Nord is Super Destroyer 2 in ECW, because no one knows who it actually was.
Sherri is in now.
Fred Ottman is in fact the DREADED SHOCKMASTER in WCW. You better believe I'll be pushing him to the moon.

Chris Benoit did work that match for WCW, due to the NJPW-WCW connection. Benoit was still working in NJPW as Wild Pegasus, so I would put him under a PPA contract with WCW, and make sure WCW-NJPW have a working agreement.
I will indeed.

i cant wait to take ECW to the top
When it's done, I'm gonna play ECW too, but going to make them cutting edge/sports entertainment, one of the two.
Currently half way through AAA and learning a fair bit about lucha too. Sounds like bundles of athleticism and high-flying, but low psychology.

bump, how close to being done is the US, and when do we get a release? :p
US is all but done, just little bits, like refs and a few more workers.
AAA is almost finished, then CMLL is next.
After that Japan and finally UK.
Should be completely finished by christmas.
KeyserSoze
11-21-2005, 01:48 PM
Just an idea. If you finish NorthAmerica, maybe you could release this zone alone. I think most of us will be happy with just this area, and those who aren't can wait til the complete release
Cheers
I know how you feel, but creating a scenario is a massive job for one person, especially if they are aiming to have 800+ workers, which I am, but without Mexico and Japan you lose potential stars like Dean Malenko, Eddy Guerrero and Jushin Liger, which in my eyes is unacceptable.
I know it sucks to have to wait, maybe in a couple of weeks, I'll release a beta to allow me to tweak any problems that you guys encounter?

Right thats done. Anyone know who the announcers were and what tv program they had etc?
Next step CMLL and then some Mexican free agents, anyone got any preferences?
OK half way through CMLL, should be finished that by Survivor Series tomorrow. I would like to thank everyone who has supported me thus far, it's been bloody hard work, but awesome and rewarding. If anyone has any requests or suggestions or anything, please post.
Also to help speed the process along if anyone fancies helping me out with Japan, even if it's just 5 wrestlers or 10? Just setup a new database and create them then post it here and I'll import it into the game.
CMLL finished, including all championship belts.
Making over 75 Mexican free agents, about 18 left to go. Then referees and finally on to Japan and then BETA release.
Also going to include all the cornellverse companies and some real/created by me in future feds if people think that it's a good idea?

If yiou plan to include fictional wrestlers, I would either release them in a separate data file, so people don't HAVE to use them.
Or at least iclude a file saying who they are.
No fictional wrestlers, just some fictional future federations.
Obviously the game will create future wrestlers, but that is out of my control.

As much as I love (and play like a crazy man) DOTT.. this will probably grab me even more, as it's a few years prior to me starting watching wrestling.
Well peeps, this is indeed encouraging news. As much as I can't wait to play the finished version myself, it's nice to know others are looking forward to it too.
I just know that people are going to be unhappy with the stats, but hey, it's how I see them, so fingers crossed.
Mexico should be finished by tomorrow evening and then straight onto Japan.
As a request, does anyone know the rosters for NJPW, AFPW and FMW from August 1993. Basically I know veryu little, so any help will speed the process along.

With the the Test thing that came up earlier in the thread, I have a feeling I know what the answer is. But what is your feeling about including guys as free agents who may not have been active or in training in 93 but could theoriticially have been? D. Boon's Ghost has many such future stars in Death of the Territories. So it's not like the update audience would hold it against you.
This is your scenario and I'm sure it'll be really cool either way. But personally, I'm a believer in having the guys who were old enough to have been in training whether they were historically or not. You're changing history anyway. A guy like Sean O'Haire may not have shown up until 1999. But the guy was was 26 then. What's to say a forward thinking promoter might not have been able to see his potential and sign him in 93 when he was 20? Guys like Kurt Angle, Kevin Nash and Scott Norton were already in their 30's when they debuted. So for Nash and Norton to figure into DOTT or Angle here is hardly an outrageous physical implausibility. I know if this were my baby any current star born in 1977 or earlier would be in for the prospect pool.
Kevin Nash and Scott Norton are already in.
Thanks a lot for the FMW roster, that will be the first roster I do.
Well Cappyboy, it has been a tough decision for me, especially guys like Angle. I think I will include some of the bigger names: Angle, Goldberg etc, but have them on hiatus from wrestling, so that they enter as and when the wrestlers decide?
What I will do is see what other people think. It's now up to you guys, anyone have any major problems with Goldberg etc being on.
On a sidenote, every single time I run a 10-year test only 2, or 3 max, wrestlers jump from WWF to WCW or visa versa. ECW never gets above regional and Hulk Hogan signs with USWA.
In fact the only two wrestlers who ever leave WWF are Bret Hart and The Undertaker. And they go to one of the upstart feds like RoH or TNA. Plus I'm sick of seeing Bushwhacker Luke vs Bushwhacker Butch as the main event of Wrestlemania. In fact in one test it happened 4 years on the trot. I don't understand McMahon's booking decisions in game.
Hands Like Feet
12-02-2005, 09:02 PM
LMAO!
I don't normally ever leave pointless messages like this one.... but that bushwacker comment was too much!
weirdo_man
12-03-2005, 02:40 AM
Future stars is an excellent idea to include. If you could include some of the bigger future names in several of the feds that would be greaaaaaaat. Also, the promoters to whatever works, so if the bushwhackers are getting good enough ratings, McMahon will beat them until their horse is dead :p Although if it were now, McMahon would put them over and then fire them and TNA would pick them up. Either way.
Indeed. To be honest most of the big name wrestlers are already around in some incarnation
The Rock - Flex Kavanah
HHH - Terra Ryzing
Kevin Nash - Diesel
However it's the newer stars that I'm having some debate to include. Basically I've decided that anyone who is older than 16 in 1993 has a shot of making it. They may suck as wrestlers, but they will be there.
So with that in mind, you guys can start listing any wrestlers you want in, and I'll include them.
added Kurt Angle
added Goldberg
added Chris Harris
added Andrew Martin (Test)
added Chavo Guerrero Jr.
Greg McNeish
12-03-2005, 10:17 AM
I started watching wrestling in the early to mid 90s, so this REALLY excites me.
Just out of curiousity, for workers like The Rock & HHH, will there be any mention of their current ring-names in their descriptions, just for guys like me that aren't very good at keeping up with changing names? I think it would be very helpful.
Cheers!

12-03-2005, 12:18 PM
Okay. Let's see how what we can do here.
Since I cited Sean O'Haire as an example, let's take a look at the Natural Born Thrillers and how they fit the age range
O'Haire as mentioned would be 20
Chuck Palumbo would be 22
Shawn Stasiak would be 23
Mark Jindrak and Johnny The Bull would just squeak in as both would be 16
Reno I can't find info on. Maybe some else has it but I doubt he was younger than Jindrak or JTB
As for other WCW notables (with ages in 93) that would fit the age range, I'd probably put in the free agent prospect pool would include
Evan Karagias (20)
Lash LeRoux (17)
Sgt. Craig Pittman (have no age but historic debut was in 94 and he was clearly older than 16)
Mike Sanders (24)
Jamie Knoble (17)
Names who debuted in 93 I haven't seen listed yet
C.W. Anderson
Devon Storm
Julio Dinero
Yuji Nagata
Masato Tanaka
Squire Dave Taylor
Hardcore Holly
Ice Train

more guys that i didnt see, but i could have overlooked...
Rob Van Dam (you may be adding him in japan, i dunno)
Vampiro (in either Mexico or Japan)
Bobby Duncum Jr.
Chris Kanyon (debuted in 1994)
Scott Vick (Sick Boy from The Flock...debuted in 1997...would have been 28 years old in 1993)
Ron Reis (aka The Yeti...debuted in 1994)

ECW folks I missed first go around.
---------------------------------
Chris Chetti (19)
Steve Corino (20)
WWE (past and present)
-----------------------
Shelton Benjamin (17) [But his famous roomie Brock Lesnar doesn't qualify. Brock was only 15.]

D. Lo Brown (18)
Bull Buchanan (25)
Rob Conway (18)
Nick Dinsmore (16)
Kane (26)
Maven (17)
Shane O'Mac (23)
Rodney Mack (21)
Oh and for 1993 debuts I missed
Doug Basham
Big Dick Dudley (A year ahead of Bubba and D-Von oddly enough)
Maven will not be in the scenario, because I can't stand him and no-one would have seen talent in him then, cos he didn't have it a decade later anyway. AND I just can't handle the possiblity of a Bushwhacker Luke vs Bushwhacker Butch vs Maven triple threat Wrestlemania main event.
eric9003

i dont know if i mentioned him before (which im not sure y i didnt since he is one of my all time favs)...but Sean Morley (Val Venis) trained in 1991, but did not debut til 1995
others:
Ken Shamrock
Chaz Warrington (Headbanger Mosh)
Glen Ruth (Headbanger Thrasher)
Ace Darling (WWF)
Tony Norris (aka Ahmed Johnson...debuted in 1995)
Scott Putski

Fair enough. I feel the same way personally. But I figured someone might believe that he'd be worthwhile if he'd trained properly back before somebody had devised Tough Enough so I listed him anyway.

Oh and a note on Shamrock. Wish I could remember which promo it was. All I know is that it wasn't Smokey Mountain. But he would most likely have been wrestling in a Tennessee indy at this time under the name Vince Torelli. Shamrock didn't start using that name until he stepped away to pursue his credentials as World's Most Dangerous Man.

I cant wait to play it, sounds like it will be really good.
I just found out that superstar quality cannot increase or decrease, so I'm going to have to go and modify certain wrestlers. It's an annoying stat, because, if booked right many people can become over. It's only useful for that small number : Austin, Rock, Hogan etc.
Any thoughts?
D. Boon's Ghost
12-04-2005, 10:33 AM
Hardly, TCP1. If you look at Ryland's data, SWF, alone, has over 15 workers with an A or better in Superstar stat. So if you compare a WWF or WCW (in the period you are shooting for), you'll probably have an equal number per fed - if not slightly higher, all due considering.
While it matters little, my advice is to study the original data and go from there. I tried my best to emulate the default dataset in DOTT. In the end, I had to make design decisions that conformed to the era I was shooting for - but it's the playability and fun factor of the CornellVerse that scenario makers should be shooting for (imho).
But what constitutes an A grade?
I have Hogan 100
Austin 98
Rock 95
HBK 92
Undertaker/Benoit/Bret/Jericho/Nash/Hall 85
The thing is there are very few who should be above 90. Then some from 80-89. Finally many 70-79.
D. Boon's Ghost
12-04-2005, 11:46 AM
An A grade, as you must know, is 80 or higher.
In the end, it's your decision. If you feel that very few should be above 90, that's your choice. :)
D. Boon's Ghost
12-04-2005, 12:09 PM
Not sure if this helps, but...
14.5% of the CornellVerse workers are rated A or higher in Superstar Quality; 145 of 998 workers. If yours hovers at around the same, you should have no problems.
Well got 57 so far, but I only have 500 odd workers, so seems about right.
I'm very picky about stats. As I'm sure everyone will find out.
Cheers D. Boon

A-Train (21)
Bubba Ray (22)
D-Von (21)
Mark Henry (22)
Shark Boy (18)
Droz (21)
Chavo Guerrero Jr. (22)
Luther Reigns (22)
And for the 93 debuts throw on Jason Arndt (SP?). He's probably be best known as Joey Abs from the Mean Street Posse but had been a jobber for the E for some time before that. As for the other MSP guys, I think I found where both Rodney and Pete Gas would be 23 a la their boy Shane O'Mac.
OK peeps, horrible news ahoy!
My hard drive caught fire and I lost everything... EVERYTHING!
Luckily I backed it up and sent it to myself by email about a week ago, so its not so bad, but still annoying. I now still have 20 Mexican wrestlers to go.

Mattyc
12-06-2005, 04:56 PM
Wow TCP1, you had me worried for a second also until I read down, to lose all of your progress on the scenario at this late stage would have been a real Tragedy.
I can only assume that the night before you backed up the scenario and sent it to yourself in email you had a visit from your future self in dream, 1 week into the future, and this future self told you that your Hard drive was going to crash so you would be best making a back up.
Or maybe not
Just believe me when I tell you that I am happy this scenario is still alive and well.
Yup, on the true downside, which i din't realise until just now. I lost all my pics, which included over 800 of which 250 were originals by me, that took ages. So there is a delay on the beta release. I also have to relicense and get photoshop again.
On top I lost over 6000 tracks of music, 40 films and every episode of One Tree Hill, Arrested development, Buffy, Angel, Enterprise, OC, Lost, Supernatural and (Which I have yet to watch) Prison Break, Rome and 4400. It truly sucks, does anyone know a way of fixing a hard drive that doesn't seem to be able to get any power?

Man, TCP, that sucks about the music. PM me with an e-mail and I'll send you a list of what I have. I know how it goes losing a large music collection. That's I got my MP3 player. Don't play it much. Use it mostly as a backup device. If I can help ya get whole, I will.
Oh and for my next talent suggestion post, I'm hoping to focus on the women. Just because ladies wrestling went in the dumper in the 90's doesn't mean we can't try to stop that from happening in the scenario.

Okay man. Time for the ladies of 1993. I may be missing a few but if I couldn't definitely confirm how they'd relate or felt they weren't prominent enough, I skipped them.
Madusa Miceli (would be in WCW)
Heidi Lee Morgan
Terri Power (aka Tori. Would be considered a top prospect at this time)
Peggy Lee Leather
Selina "Bambi" Majors
Magnificent Mimi
Akira Hokuto
Aja Kong
Cutie Suzuki
Mayumi Ozaki
Debbie Combs
Noriyo Tateno
Luna Vachon (would be in WWE and IIRC married to Bam Bam Bigelow)
Malia Hosaka
Manami Toyota
Megumi Kudo (arguably THE female name in Japanese hardcore)
Jacqueline
Kat Leroux
Reggie Bennett
Bertha Faye
Susan Sexton
Terri Runnels (would still be best known as Alexandra York in 93. Marlena wasn't until 96)
Fabulous Moolah (was techincally inactive but would make a likely trainer/road agent)
Josie Navarro (lucha veteran/likely road agent, retired in 1994)
93 debuts

Brandi Alexander
Age eligible

Chyna (23, late December baby)
Daffney (18)
Dawn Marie (23)
Erica Porter (19)
Francine (21)

So, did your hard drive seriously catch fire, or did it just die (Since you said it can't get any power.) If it really did catch fire, that data is lost forever. If it just died, you might be able to send it in to be fixed somewhere, unfortunately, it's unlikely, and you can't just swap out discs from hard drives so that data is lost :( But yeah, if you need help with anything on the scenario, get ahold of me.

Has there been any work on the storylines and angles for this mod? Those are absolutely key in Tew 2005 for a mod to be great. DOTT has a ton of great examples of real life storylines. The 1990s had some of the best storylines of all time so working those into this file should be alot of fun.
Right peeps,
My computer is now up and running again. TEW is reliscensed and raring to be edited and I'm going to get back on the wagon, I expect to have Mexico completed by tuesday, then I'll be back up to date.
Then Japan and free agents by new years. So look for a very early 2006 release. I also need to get hold of Photoshop again as I need to make all those lovely pics, possibly with an original background?

Shelton Benjamin (17) [But his famous roomie Brock Lesnar doesn't qualify. Brock was only 15.]
Lesnar was born in '77 so he would've been turning 16 in '93
cappyboy

Info I have on Lesnar has him coming into the world in '78. But then the source I have most readily available is a PWI Almanac that's pushing three years old. Haven't been able to get the last couple. So it's entirely possible things have been firmed up for '77 since my info hit the stands.

Might as well just throw in him as a 16 year old and keep his skills very low. If someone wants to develop him then at least they have the option.

You know, the more I read, the more I look foward to this mod. I just watched The Rise & Fall of ECW and am looking foward to changing Eastern Championship Wrestling to Extreme Championship Wrestling. I am looking foward to having a young, talented Shane Douglas and have him throw down the NWA World Heavyweight Championship and tell the world that the ECW Heavyweight Championship is the one that matters. I want to take ECW and over run the evil Vince and his WWF. This is going to rock.

Okay man, let's talk storylines. A good 05 scenario is going to need a strong storyline base.
And two I would definitely want in any 90's scenario I were playing would be Owen In The Shadow for the simple reason that it's my all-time favorite storyline. And "Corny Doing Double Duty" from WCW. Where Jim Cornette in a rare show of heart was offering his guidance and getting the Dynamic Dudes feet wet at the risk of alienating his long time clients, the Midnight Express. I would especially love to be able to recreate the jobber team gauntlet Ace and Douglas anchored in disguise calling themselves "Bruce Wayne" and "Dick Grayson." Boy were the Midnights tiffed that night.

01-06-2006, 08:36 AM
Well, maybe we should give the author a chance to determine that. We are just now pulling out of a holiday season that is always crazy. He may just not have had time to get back on it or update us on progress yet. If we're still at the same stage this time next week, maybe we can start proclaiming death. But for now, it still seems a little too soon.

Sorry peeps as cappy says, it's been xmas and new year, so I've been really busy, plus I have decided to undertake a new job and work on my first novel, so TEW has unfortunately fallen by the wayside.

I will keep you posted.

Hey, TCP, good to hear from ya. I certainly hear you about the novel. I've also tried doing the serious writing thing and I've found it to be a real challenge to collect my thoughts into a useful form so I can create useful pages. Good luck on that project and I'll look forward to further reports on this one. In the meantime, shall we make storyline suggestions for you?
cappyboy
01-08-2006, 12:43 PM
Okay man, I'll get the ball rolling then.
I already mentioned Owen In The Shadow and Cornette mentoring the Dynamic Dudes so I think I'll start in Global since I was a huge mark for them.
Should probably have The Rise Of The Dark Patriot in there somewhere as Del Wilkes was one of Global's top faces and it was arguably his biggest storyline for them.
The Jerry Lynn/Sean Waltman finisher fued would probably be a popular choice to be recreated amongst the IWC.
Chaz's search for his father would be great for promoting a young talent and perpetuating an older talent's gimmicked name. As it did here with Tugboat Taylor.
The Chaz/Waltman Feud over Chaz's fear of heights. Although I don't know if we could recreate the Bungee match blow-off exactly, it could still be fun.
How about The Cartel? Historically speaking, the turn by Max Andrews from authority figure to evil mastermind kinda foreshadowed the Eric Bischoff to the NWO and Corporate Vinnie Mac turns several years later.
Midnightnick
01-08-2006, 03:14 PM
While I'm not sure what the Bungee Match was Cappy, you could make it like a Scaffold match.
cappyboy
01-08-2006, 09:26 PM
Probably what would have to happen. The Bungee Match took place in this cage that was suspended like 50, 100 feet off the ground or whatever. I forget the exact height. The cage was lifted up off the ground with this big ole crane once both guys were inside. And the object was for the winner to incapicitate his opponent enough to attach a bungee cord to the loser's leg and push him out the cage.
But since I can't imagine setting this up with the match editor as we have it, something like a scaffold match would most likely have to serve in its place.

*bump*
OK peeps in a moment of insanity, that I'll probably regret for a few days, I'm starting work on this scenario. I have 2 days to spare, so I'll see what I can do.
BUT, and it's a BIG BUT (hehe) I need some help, so the quicker you guys help, the quicker this will be released.
So I need people to chip in, here's what I need:
1) Someone to create a list of TV shows that was on in august 1993, with size of viewers and stations they were on etc.
2) If someone could make me a storyline file and if time an angle file, that would be sweet.
3) Japanese roster listings for august 1993, with a good site for pictures.
4) Belt Pictures
Now I know that's a lot to ask, but hey, I still have to recreate (And STEAL) photos for over half my current wrestlers, which amounts to 200+ and I still have Mexico to finish (About 25 wrestlers + relationships).
So there you go, people who offered to help here's your chance to be part of the greatest scenario EVER! :)
Wow, that's quite the response! Well if anyone still cares, I'm up to date, having made over 600 pictures.
So USA, Mexico and Canada are done. So Japan next, plus extra free agents.
I've got the bug and gonna continue for a while, so with any luck i'll finish it. Then after this I have a new project you guys might be interested in.

1) Someone to create a list of TV shows that was on in august 1993, with size of viewers and stations they were on etc.
Look here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1993_in_television
2) If someone could make me a storyline file and if time an angle file, that would be sweet.
For now I would just check with the author of the BAM Storyline and Angles. Assuming he is ok with it, just include those (of which there are a ton) and then we can build it up more after the scenario is released. The link you need to check is: http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8423&highlight=Angles
3) Japanese roster listings for august 1993, with a good site for pictures.
I can't help you on this one. Maybe you could even leave Japan out for now and work on that later.
4) Belt Pictures
I would think the GPanic Belt pictures would cover most of what you are looking for. Again you would need to talk to the author to get permission to use it in your file but if he says yes then here is the link: http://www.tewfiles.com/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=149 At the end of the day I wouldn't worry too much about belt pictures because those can be added later.
I also thought you mentioned something about making a ton of worker pics. I wouldn't spend too much time on that since I think most people are overloaded with pictures at this point (I have over 1,000 myself) and the more important items are the actual workers, promotions, etc.
Hope this helps!

Yeah, very true! I have 5794. I would like to know if someone can beat that!
And I'm really looking forward to this mod. I'm happy it hasn't been rushed, because rushed ones normally turn out pretty bad. :D
Well the photos to me are key, so I'm making sure every worker has at least 1 pic.
Just shy of 500 workers now. I'm aiming for about 700-800 to start with.
I can't wait to play myself, but it's all down to me.
aS REGARDS RELEASE, I honestly have no idea, because I originally wanted a release date aroung now, but it just didn't happen! I don't that kind of pressure again. So I'll say it will be out as soon as I'm happy.
What I am really interested in is peoples feelings on the stats, because I have been very harsh on a lot of workers, so I'm expecting a bit of a backlash over that.

you might just get alot of positive feedback as well though, cause high stats in other mods have made the game way to easy so low stats should add more of a challange to the game and most of the workers will improve anyway

And thank you Sartagis, this will be quite useful.
Quick update as I have just finished Frontier Martial-Arts Wrestling (FMW) in Japan. Although their roster is pretty small, maybe 20 peeps in it, but I'm sure I can expand it at a later date.
Next I'm doing all the company logos.
Then NJPW/AJPW.
I've decided to add Michinoku Pro as it was started in July 1993.
Should have around 700 workers by the time I'm done, do you guys think that is enough?
Also do you really want women wrestlers?

As far as 700 workers go, why not. If somebody we think should be in there Im sure we could create them.
Howdy Rowdy, Bo bowdy rowdy!
OK peeps, NJPW is in and AJPW is half done, I've even done all the referees I need. Basically worker total = 580.
I'm making real headway, I'm leaving women to last, because tbh I don't give a crap about them, I just want to play now.
P.s. I still need a good quality Eric Bischoff pic from 93, remember, not raw GM, not nWo guy, not grey haired, just good quality smarmy reporter Bischoff.

Women wrestlers = YES. I love to put on a good womans match.
As far as 700 workers go, why not. If somebody we think should be in there Im sure we could create them.
Amen, Brudda. Plus 1993 is right about when women's wrestling really started teetering as a viable function on American shores. I would think it would be a great challenge to keep it afloat and prevent the crash the 90's borught.
Hmmm, I'll comprimise, let me release the beta and then I'll add the women on the first update.
Just as a little test, and to boost my enormous ego, how many peeps are actually gonna use this update?
Oh and the Bischoff picture will do nicely, cheers bud.

I'd download it, and if it's good use it because 93 was one of my favourite wrestling years, I may of only been 5 but the year still stands out for me.

I'd play it. Nothing will defeat SMW!
Everything completely done regarding NJPW, including pics, refs, commentators, owner, bookers.
AJPW is almost done, then M-Pro!
I've decided to remove Catch wrestling from Europe and suggesting deactivation of Europe/UK.

I agree with you deactivating Europe/UK. Not much happening over there anyway in 93.
OK I'm actually missing a couple of pictures, if anyone could get these for me, that would be sweet:
Kanji Higuchi
Katsuji Ueda
Scatch last regret, I have them both now.
AJPW is finished, now M-Pro and free Japanese agents.

I have been following this thread since its early postings and I am looking forward to the Scenario and its release, if the scenario is good I will be using quite a bit as 1993 was one of my favourite years as a wrestling fan.

TCP1, I think you could have just looked at the number of replies and views of the post to see how many people want to use it :p
Weeeelllll possibly! But what good does that do my ego?
Now I'd like everyone who really wants this mod to do a little dance and kill a chicken in my honour. :)
I now have 625 workers and still have M-Pro and Japanese free agents to do. It's coming together nicely.
I thought I'd throw some more requests out there:
-Someone to create a stylish main screen for the mod, as mine looks a bit poo on second viewing.
-Vince Russo pic circa 1993.

Russo didn't come into the Business till 94, and he didn't get any on-air time till WCW. I should know, considering I bought his shoot interview.
True, but I have a lot of future stars and seeing as he had such a massive impact on wrestling in future years, it seemed appropriate.
Just added Monty Brown for instance,he is set on hiatus, so the moment he quits boring NFL, I'll have him, train him and push him. :)
One more request peeps.
Could someone get together all the belt pics for these promotions and put them on the proper background please.
AAA
AJPW
CMLL
SMW
WWF
WCW
USWA
M-Pro
FMW
ECW
ECWA
BCW
Stampede
If someone could do that, it would save me a couple of hours and I might be able to get the update out by the weekend. :)

I can't wait for the release of this. It should be one of the best mods ever for sure.
With the addition of Sunny War Cloud, the workers are now as complete as they'll ever be. With a total of 650 odd, which I think is very respectable for a one man job.
Therefore left to do is:
Titles
Storylines
Screens
Thusly, the release of my scenario is VERY VERY imminent. Now I'm not one to build up expectation (ITS AWESOME) or have you all waiting online (:)) BUT, if I were you I'd check back on Sunday!
