This is the best show I have ever seen. Punk cements himself as one of the all time greats. The crowd more than did their part. Cena was awesome. The MITBs were awesome. Orton/Christian was awesome. And that is the single best ending to any show I have ever seen. Oh my god. Hyperbole, I don't care. That was everything this business is about.

It's 4 O'Clock, how am I supposed to sleep after that. So perfectly executed.

Cena fired? CM Punk f***s over the WWE? Daniel Bryan MTB winner? Have I slipped into some sick parallel universe, where we the IWC rule. What is going on?

what an awesome pay per view, dare I say even better than this year's Mania? :P Punk/Cena was unreal, definitely in Cena's tops for matches. The facial expressions throughout the match even said a lot. Punk's was full of this emotion that really had you believe it was all real.

Yeah, but even then, they were trying to swing away from the barrier. And Cole said he was celebrating with "the Chicago faithful." I understand he's (assumedly) not under contract, but his name has been mentioned enough recently to validate Cole saying the word Cabana once.

I will say, though, that if my biggest gripe of the entire show is simply the misinformation of a "fan" in the front row, it's gotta be a pretty solid show. lol

I really enjoyed Destination X, but enjoyed MitB much more. I guess it just comes down to whether you like X-Division style wrestling, or sports entertainment more. The big advantage MitB has, not to say I didn't think all of the matches were great, was that it has provided much more in terms of potential storylines, shock, and excitement than DX which was largely just about the matches as a one off spectacle not about telling a story.

Very well planned, very well executed. As well as the obvious there were a number of little things that went into the building up of this match. I can't help but feel that WWE (though probably unintentionally at first) has been educating the casual fan about the Montreal screwjob for months, starting with the return of Bret Hart. Newer fans may not have fully appreciated part of the finish without that.

Wow.

CM Punk leaving with the title was the less probable scenario for me and it happened. I'm pleasentely surprised. So much intriguing possible storylines from now that my brain hurts ! It was a really good match too with little side stories, lows and highs, drama and a surreal atmosphere. If anyone wonders why we like wrestling, we should point to tonight and this magic moment.

Overall show was good I'd say. The two MITB were different enough to keep the act interesting all night long. I believe every single of the 16 participant had their moment. Alberto Del Rio winning was a bit predictable, but they couldn't throw curveballs all night. Poor Daniel Bryan will be the first guy to cash in and lose. At least, he will have the chance to cash unlike Mr Kennedy.

Show/Henry met my expectation which were not very high like everyone else. I like the booking though, they have something going there. With the stipulation, Christian was likely to win, and he did, I'm just not sure about the sequence of events. I mean, he spat in his face, that's not something that bad imo. And why kicking Christian in the balls at the exact moment, after the referee already warned you and you have backed down ? There's some logic that escapes me there. This match was a bit too long for my liking, I thought it dragged somewhere in the middle.

Still, overall a really good night of wrasslin' and I can't wait to see what's next !

Checking up a suspicion I had on cagematch, I found that Punk is 5-0 against Cena in 2011. Granted most of those were storyline wins that kept Cena looking strong, but kayfabe wise, Punk has Cena's number.

Also, clearly Randy Orton is not nearly as good a role model as Atticus Finch.

Yes, he does also suggest that Cena can do better... but he's basically saying "you're matches are crap, stop having crap matches". I wouldn't exactly call it an encouraging pad on the shoulder.

*shrug* Different strokes. Some of the best coaches I've had in life are the ones who called me on my slacking (and did it publicly, in front of my teammates), often in vulgar fashion. It's like the Betty White Snickers commercial IMO.

That was probably the best pay per view I have watched in a long time.

I agree. In hindsight, I would've actually paid for it. (And before WC gets to huffin', I watched it at a neighbor's house. HE bought it)

Great PPV, from what I can gather, can't help but be a little excited.

But...

I'm lost...

I spent a lot of time in this neighborhood way back in the 90s, and back then it was home...

But now, the building all look different and someone's changed all the road signs...

Long story short, I got so used to mainstream wrestling reeking to high heavens that now, I don't know what to do when it rocks....

Like I've been living just one paycheck away from homelessness for the past ten years, and now, all of a sudden, I win the lottery....

Not sure where to go from here....

Looking forward to the journey though.

I was just thinking, I know it won't happen, but wouldn't it be odd if Punk did take the belt to Ring Of Honor and Daniel Bryan showed up to cash in his Money In The Bank there?

But still, it's a thought.

Sounds like an amazing PPV.(only made it through a few bits)

Glad to see Danielson win. I would like to see him cash it in at Wrestlemania. Yeah, Bryans not gonna sell tickets, but come on they have The Rock to do that. I just think it would be a cool moment for an underdog like Bryan to wait until the biggest show of the year to claim that spotlight. Only thing is, is that it's 9 months away so they would have to work really hard at keeping him as a strong competitor for that long. He probably will cash it in and lose, but w/e, it's Daniel Bryan ffs, I never would have even expected him to win a MITB. Bryans getting pretty good treatment for a guy who isn't your typical WWE "superstar."

Punk/Cena was craaaazy. My heart jumped when Cena knocked out Laurintis, ****in' hilarious. I doubted the whole storyline last week, but it looks like they're actually gonna go somewhere with all of this. My guess is they pretty much signed Punk to a deal which just promised him a vacation between now and Summer Slam. If this was all 100% work then that was just an amazing month of story telling.

I'm rly having a hard time even predicting where this goes from here. Punk is supposed to be gone, and Cena fired... They could make some really good TV out of this, and for once do angles that take place outside of the arena. Punk on the run playing the villain, Cena trying to get his job back, and Vince trying to fix the damage that's been done to his company. Does Punk defend the belt in another company? Can ADR cash in his MITB at THAT company? jesus, just so many scenarios that could happen.

Excellent ppv (not quite from top to bottom as the Divas match was poor) and one of those nights that reminds me why despite all the WWE's failings, I keep coming back from time to time - their ability to deliver memorable nights like this. Those oh so precious nuggets of gold.

Kudos to the WWE for their handling of Punk/Cena and the amount of time they gave it. Great crowd, great booking. I was pretty sceptical throughout a lot of the bout, but really became invested when Punk escaped the second STF and became legitimately excited that we might see a Pepsi Plunge when both men went to the turnbuckle for what turned out to be a hurricanrana by Punk. Anyway, I marked out for the win and marked out even more for the KO on ADR when he ran in.

Now comes the acid test of the storyline... what happens now?

Highly enjoyable MiTB matches too. The RAW one was a bit more botchy (shame that Rey caused the ladder to rock backward for the finish especially), but still had enough highspots and moments to keep it interesting. Bourne's SSP in the aisle was arguably the best spot. I did really find the announcing really uneccessary after the Daniel Bryan match... way to signpost that he's going to be the man who cashes in his shot and doesn't get the belt. Just seemed OTT, especially when it wasn't followed up for ADR, but it's a minor criticism.

Orton vs Christian was better than I anticipated. Nice to see Xtian with the gold again, although I'm yet to be convinced it's a worthwhile pay-off for his previous short reign debacle, although on balance, he'll probably be stronger as a heel champion rather than a face, but he could have turned whilst holding the belt anyway... still, what's done is done, he's got it again now.

The rest... already covered the Divas match. BS/Henry was enjoyable for what it was. A nice change of pace on the ppv and kinda surprising how easily Henry ploughed through Show. I'm not really too sure where Henry goes though, because this must be Mark Henry push x 526 and ultimately, I can only see him being built up before being served to Orton.

Overall though, an awesome night of wrestling. Luckily, this was free on Sky Sports because I'm not convinced that going in, I would have had the faith to pay for it and I'd have been gutted to miss it as it went down.

Must see RAW tonight for definite.

Punk is the new Stone Cold, no one will forget this. It's like when Austin won King Of The Ring in 96. That. Was. Awesome.

Punk literally escaping Chicago with the belt. D Bryan (as Booker annoyingly says constantly) holding the MiTB. Christian with the World Title. This all feels surreal.

Now just got to wait to see where they are going with Punk. But after that show I truly believe it will be magical.

SD Ladder Match - Fun opening match. Sheamus' power bomb on Sin Cara looked nasty. I would have picked Sheamus, Barrett or Rhodes to win but Daniel Bryan? OMFG! I assume this is to make Bryan SD's number 2 face.

Henry v Big Show - Not my favourite type of match-up but I like Heel Henry and Big Show's selling of his leg injury.

Raw Ladder Match - Good use of the small ladders. Loads of high flying spots. Miz cops a spectacular injury and the crowd pops when he rushes back in. The crowd go nuts as Del Rio unmasks Rey and wins!

Christian v Orton - I thought it was one match too many going in but the strength of the feud and the performances made this a good match yet again. I wasn't sure which way it would go but I like the way it ended.

Punk v Cena - Punk's entrance getting bigger pop than Cena and Orton usually get = Awesome. Match of the Year that got better as it went along, with a Wrestlemania Main Event feel to it. Punk was on top form as expected. Props to Cena for pulling out some unique variations of his usual moves plus a couple of different ones (especially after getting injured). Punk winning the epic battle and avoiding losing the belt to Del Rio with Vince looking sick to the stomach was perfect. The WWE creative team are finally delivering.

Best PPV of the year so far. Looking forward to Summerslam.

John Laurinaitis (born July 31, 1965) is an executive with WWE (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WWE). He was previously a professional wrestler (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Professional_wrestling) known as Johnny Ace, and is credited as the inventor of the "Ace Crusher (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cutter_%28professional_wrestling%29)" maneuver. Yeah I'm wondering now. I don't want to second guess it too much but the commentators were still putting Punk over as a heel, but the way he went out and stuck it to Vince, surely he's gonna have everyone behind him now and they may have to adjust.

John Cena wont get enough credit for what he did last night. He put over punk perfectly and was better than punk in the ring. I know the story is punk is awesome which is true but Cena needs some credit too. Great guy. Great match. Cena is just perfect at not overselling himself when crowds are against him, see 2006 ONS and last night.

The story was punk last night and Cena never took away from that at all, even though he got as much heat as punk got pops.

STAMFORD, Conn. – In accordance with its Talent Wellness Program, WWE has suspended Luis Ignascio Urive Alvirde (Sin Cara) for 30 days for his first violation of the company’s policy.

Injury looked pretty legit but I guess not. Miz's injury I'm sure was legit and I wouldn't be surprised if it was his idea to return to the ring. And Cena looked to be wrestling through pain for awhile.

Thanks to Chris Brainard for the following:

After CM Punk left through the crowd, Vince McMahon stood there shocked on the apron looking out into the crowd for a few minutes before slowly walking towards the back. He waited for Johnny Ace, who was being helped by two referees. Vince then nailed Johnny, laying him out before walking off.

Daniel Bryan winning the SD MitB was a surprise because I didn’t think they saw him on the level of even having a fluke World title win, so I think it’s a reasonable bet to make that Bryan becomes the first MitB winner to cash in and lose. Of course, that’s assuming he keeps the briefcase and they don’t simply have him lose to someone else down the road and he only won it here because they both wanted a surprise and wanted to get people in the mindset of expecting surprises in readiness for what they pull later in the night.

Henry/Show was about the right length and they put Henry over so strongly that it makes Orton’s title loss later on appear to be a short-term deal

ADR winning the Raw MitB was expected and set up one of the more predicted finishes in the main event, which almost happened.

Christian backdoors into the World title and just to make sure nobody even entertained the idea that this meant something positive, they have Christian get beaten up and laid out. See you in the Midcard, Christian. I wonder if they’ll have Daniel Bryan explain on SD why he didn’t cash in his briefcase here because it was the perfect time.

I’m impressed the writer of that sign spelt Muay Thai correctly.

Justin Roberts is terrible as a ring announcer. He comes off like he is trying way too hard to be this big, impressive speaker and it just doesn’t wash.

The main event was fantastic and had some hot near falls, although I felt the referee hurt it with the way he counted them; he counted like it was going to be a near fall rather than if it was going to be the actual fall, and you really need to do it like that to get the full drama. Go back and watch the counts in the last few Undertaker Wrestlemania matches, when they’re doing the super near falls, and you’ll see a big difference.

When Cena slugged Ace, I guarantee the entire locker room popped.

I give credit to WWE doing the finish they did, not because it's a great finish and probably the best one they could have done, but because it required stepping out of their comfort zone and doing something original and fresh, and they stayed the course despite the (overblown) negativity surrounding the Raw rating.

Haha! Damn! I am taken aback in so many ways, masterful PPV. Have a hard time settling down...

But on a side note, I don't think Bryan will cash in and fail. Fact of the matter is, the main-event spotlight needs new babyfaces, other than Cena, Orton, Rey and Kane. Only reason you see him failing now is because he hasn't been built up yet. Just like people saw The Miz losing because he's been dwarfed on a few occasions(while still climbing the figurative ladder.. no pun intended).

The rest of the year may be magical, with the building up of DB all the way to the fallout of the WWE title situation... and soon as next year comes in, we're gonna go overdrive with The Rock/Cena hype towards Mania. Good time to be a fan, I feel.

That is pretty fckin interesting, but my guess is Bryan wants a real match since real pro wrestling is his thing. I think him cashing it in and losing to Christian would not look that bad as long as it's not a sneak attack that ends with him losing. On SD have Bryan explain that he's challenging Christian straight up instead of catching him while he's down. Make the match close and lengthy. At the end, Orton botches an interference, and Christian manages to outsmart them all somehow. Could lead to a Bryan-Orton uppermidcard feud to end the summer while Christian gets in a few defences in preparation for Christian-Orton part 2.

It gets worse for Sin Cara; not only was a failed steroid test, that he actually flunked in June, but he might not even be brought back.

Given the brouhaha given to Cara as the first new signing attributed to Triple H, I can see them washing their hands of him for failing a drug test so soon into his tenure. If they do bring him back, I would not be shocked for them to try and get him to quit over this, ie: push for him to unmask.

I wonder what this means for Averno.

OMG. I just realised something.

Guys. Guys.

Listen.

..

Remember the contract signing? Vince left the ring, and after Cena punched CM Punk, Punk grabbed the contract from Vince, went to the ramp and ripped the contract into pieces.

Here's the thing. I think he grabbed Vince's contract and not his own but he didn't realise it. There were two contracts there weren't there? I thought it was odd how Vince suddenly left the ring and stood on the ringside. He was holding his contract, surely, and not Punk's designed contract, right? I'm now playing that RAW and checking this.

So Vince has CM Punk's contract with CM Punk's name IN IT already as he stated. Meaning that Vince will sign the new, CM Punk's contract in order to keep Punk in the WWE as long as he's the champion.

If this is what happens tonight on RAW.

You know as well as anyone that money talks. Doing what Fin said to do, then all the sudden not doing it if they mess it up from here on out, speaks more then any words.

I have never been risk averse in my life (my stock from Pandora's IPO says hi :p) but the question becomes, am I more comfortable with YOUR money being at risk or MINE? I guess the answer's easy when I put it like that. I already had his Uprising T-shirt (it was a gift. For some reason, when non-wrestling fans find out you're a wrestling fan, they automatically assume you're a WWE fan.) and I heard tell that they're coming out with a new design for Punk, so I'll actually buy that one. However, with a month left before the next PPV, I don't think me pouring cash into the marketing machine is going to accomplish what you think it will. For one thing, it'll be more than a month before that uptick in business is attributed to this event (that's how corporate finance works, after all). Remember, this is a marathon not a sprint. Strong champions aren't defined by selling well once. They're defined by selling well all the time. So if you're going to buy in, you need to be prepared to do so for as long as Punk is centrally featured (otherwise, it'll be chalked up to a one-time anomaly. "Right place, right time, right people" kinda thing).

Again, I'm not saying FIN is wrong. I'm just a lot more jaded than he is. :)

I think 'just one event' has to be enough to get people spending money if we want WWE to follow up. WWE ain't broke - from a money making perspective. Contrary to some IWC fans' opinion that PPV buy rates and TV ratings being down means losses, they actually make more money from other sponsors and merchandise (which is, I believe, up). Therefore, they aren't going to change their tune for long unless they see instant results.

I like the fact that Daniel Bryan didn't cash in his MitB. He definitely hasn't been built up for a world title reign yet, and needs to carry the briefcase for a while to gain some credibility. It can easily be explained: either he was too noble to cash in cheaply, too beaten up after his match/being checked out, or he was worried that with a livid Orton at ringside his cash in could be ruined.

I also don't mind Orton losing it after Christian spitting. It goes along with the commentary assertions that he has anger management issues (and makes him a flawed hero), as well as making him seem unpredictable (keeping his cool for a while, then losing it at a seemingly minor incident) which has been a theme in the past. It is also constant with the suggestion that Christian got inside his head on Smackdown!, and was able to push him over the edge when tensions were already running high during the match.

WWE kind of has no choice but to push the hell out of people. HHH, Edge, Taker, HBK are gone. I think Orton and Cena are the only permanent main eventers at the moment. Now is like the best time to step up your game in WWE.

The camera's don't show the fallen table and the contract lying under it for several minutes after Vince had left the ring.

ALSO GUYS! Notice Vince's hand gesture in the end, he signs to CM Punk 'sign it' with his hand. It's VINCE's contract that Punk tore. Why would Vince sign to CM Punk to sign his own contract since his name is already in his version of the contract.

Worship me. :D

No. Please no. That would be such a rubbish way to go from here. Although if it does happen atleast we get to see Punk kick Vince in the balls and have WWE Ice Cream Bars return, as per Punk's contract.

They have like a whole year to build him up ala Edge the first time around. I don't see why people are down on this, it can be a great gimmick for him and helps write his promo work for him. Who knows he could get a huge push after Mania or something and it wouldn't sound so crazy for him to get a title run.

I like Fin's idea. Vince is stuck and resorts to signing the contract the Punk drew up. Omg they could make it so that it has all these wacky conditions to it, with Vince pretty much humiliating himself every week just to get his champion back. Vince is golden when it comes to him being in distress, and Punk is great at manipulation.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN ON RAW (FIN's prediction)
http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1671746#post1671746

My earlier post. Check RAW from 07.11.11, the one that ends with the contract signing that failed. Watch it and keep your eye on the contract AND your eye on Vince when he leaves the ring.

Sounds good, I just hope Punk shows up on Raw tonight!

Imagine if he actually puts Punk's face on all the turnbuckles and such!

I was under the impression Vince's hand gestures were that he didn't sign it yet. Then Punk ripped it up meaning Vince didn't have a chance to sign it.

My thing is, is this the beginning of a new era in WWE? An atitude like era but maybe toned done a bit?

20LEgend

I don't even think it needs to be an attitude like era, or even a new era for that matter. We just need better than the usual 1 dimensional feuds and more layered one's like this one (for example the sub plot of ADR should be no.1 contender CM is reinstated and then he is RAW MITB and then there is no title.)

I hope this is the start of something, whether it's an era or just good booking / storylines I don't care, but hopefully this is a sign of things to come.

So for the first time since I was about 14 (which was a loooooong time ago) I'm actually genuinely excited/interested in watching Raw tonight to see what happens next. I caught the PPV last night (mainly because I spent the entirety of Sunday sleeping off a particularly epic hangover and was wide awake by 1am) and I'd seen bits of a couple of Raws in recent weeks (I have it on sometimes in the background while I work) so I had a vague idea of what was going on...but dayum, I found it entertaining.

The ladder matches were all cool, but the atmosphere for the main event really took me back. Definitely reminded me why I liked wrestling so much.

Also all this fridge talk has reminded me that I have Mars Ice Cream bars in mine. Raw snacks sorted then.

If there has ever been a time when turning him would work it is now, let ADR step up, and him fill the void as a test in the brief time Cena is gone. Maybe an angle where Vince tries to adopt him as his new golden boy...he could go with it as a heel or turn on him as a face.
