An idea for how to handle negotiations in place of the current system: Make an offer to a fighter, and he/she responds in one of 3 ways: accept, decline, counter-offer. In the case of accepting or declining, it would be the final decision at that time, with additional offers only being allowed if they choose to counter-offer.

This would be particularly effective when more than one promotion is interested. It would make it so that we can't simply buy every fighter we want just by getting multiple chances to outbid the AI promotions. We'd potentially get only one shot to make a good offer and if we low-ball him then we'd lose out without a second shot at getting the deal.

That's my chosen solution, but really my main issue that it's too easy to steal/retain all the best fighters because the current system favors the player too much.

On some occasions, I would agree, but on others, not at all.

For instance, sometimes I get 10 chances to raise the base pay to what they want, effectively securing myself the lowest possible offer they will accept... but other times I'll offer a fighter what they currently have plus a bit more, they'll say no, and I'll raise the things they want raised by a significant amount, and they'll say no again and that's the end of the discussion.

This happens most with main event fighters. I just lost Fedor because a $100,000 increase in base pay wasn't enough, and then a second increase of the same amount wasn't enough despite him being happy with everything else and being my champ.
