Dawn of MMA V2 (http://www.filefactory.com/file/a20dd0b/n/Dawn_Of_MMA.zip)

File is on filefactory while other sites aren't working. If anyone has an EWInventory style site to host on, that'd be great. Credit to Biggz and the TOS guys once more for the awesome base data and thanks to Sherdog.com for the fight histories on there.

Updates for Version Two:

- Fighter debut records revised. No longer many 0-0 debuting fighters, the majority have early career records. For example, "Rampage" Jackson comes into the game a few years later 10-1. This has improved playability in all the trials we've done.
- Fighter reputation and name value have been revised for all fighters in line with the new records. This has helped to get rid of the "promotions won't sign unknown fighters' problem V1 had.
- Fighter statistics have been revised in a lot of instances, although I can't put a figure on it. Examples where you'll be able to tell the difference are guys like Rich Franklin, Rashad Evans and Gegard Mousasi. Due to popular demand, Ken Shamrock has also been changed.
- Company popularity has been reduced, drastically in some cases. This issue shouldn't have even been in the first release, but it's been worked on now.
- New companies MWVT and UCC are included to help out the lower name fighters.
- Lion's Den added as a camp, some camps changed slightly.

For a decent pic pack, I recommend the excellent panini style floating around. That has pretty much every fighter covered.

Feedback is greatly encouraged at this point as when discussion dies down I'm moving onto something else and leaving this mod. So any stat problems, popularity problems etc. speak now or forever hold your peace. I'd appreciate it if someone can play or simulate things through to at least the new millenium (ideally 2003 or later) to see how it plays out from the perspective of someone playing just for fun.

NB/ We know Randy Couture is immense at the start, but his stats are slightly higher to counter act the aging process he gets hit with pretty much straight away. If the majority don't like it, it will be changed.

So, yeah, after a fair few bleary eyed late nights, I think this could be done. Enjoy :)

---------------------------------------------------------

Proposed final changes:
- Up Masakatsu Funaki's statistics, particularly in the submissions area.
- Potential lowering of Dan Severn's age or increasing of stats.

Looks good

One thing I did notice is that Dan Severn is a few years older than he should be. I like to be able to keep him around a couple years.

How do you mean? His age is exactly right, unless you mean he retires straight away because he starts off at 40? The solutions would be to reduce his age or to up his stats, making him less likely to lose. If there's enough demand for either one I'll change it an the final update, if not, it'll probably be a case of changing it in your own game.

Added a list of suggested changes for the update to the first post.

Good to here the previous problems have been fixed, i got up to 2002 but having to sign all the debuting fighters and giving em fights is a thankless task.

I noticed Junie Browning was listed as 6'0", so checked other 6'0 listed fighters for mistakes (I've done some modding for myself and it's easy to leave height as default).

This is an inexact science and I'm sure not an exhaustive list (I just scrolled through the fighters to find fighters, see who I've heard of and if 6'0 rang true) and found the following fighters need changing to:

Alessio Sakara 6'1
Brodie Farber 6'1
Din Thomas 5'9
Gray Maynard 5'8
Jason Guida 5'10
Junie Allen Browning 5'8
Kim Couture 5'6
Shannon Gugerty 5'10

Great to see changes made to popularity, etc - look forward to playing the mod

I think a better solution for Randy is not to up his stats beyond what they should be to counter act his aging at the start but instead to allow him to actually be younger to reflect how he actually is. This is actually the best way to handle Randy's unnatural aging process ;).

You could include a note in his flavor text why you have lowered his age below what his actual age would be.

Great mod.

However I was wondering about Pancrase and why you didn't include them. I'm assuming it's because some of their wacky rules can't be properly represented in WMMA2 but did you ever think about doing a watered down version (no strikes on the bottom, 10 count etc)?

I can't speak for his reasoning, but a lot of Pancrase was worked.

i noticed a error with joe rogan in the game u have him becoming active in january of 1999 but if u check his wiki website it states he becomes active (not including just mma) in 1995 also if u check ufc events he started as a back stage interviewer for ufc 12 which was held on feb 7 1997. so i think he either should debut in 1995 or 1997. if he debutes in 1995 u can change the course of ufc history and hire him early or actually have him debute in febuary 1997 when he actually showed up in mma as a interviewer.

I'm assuming there is a reason for why there not but in reality both Masakatsu Funaki & Kazuo Takahashi should already be active in October 1993 & both should have a 1-1 record.

Also Shamrock was 2-0 in Oct 93, not 3-0

one thing I noticed...

Geza Kalman should be called Geza "Big Dawg" Kalman Jr.

He should be from Cambridge, Ontario (also Canadian nationality and based in Canada). And he's a lot younger then your data shows. He's 36 NOW... so he should only be 21 or so in the data. When he fought in UFC he was 21 or something too (dubbed a hot prospect, but he got hurt and jumped to pro-wrestling)

...

Also all the Gracie's arnt related in the game.

I was having this problem too, but then went into the editor and forced standard weight classes upon them. They immediately signed a bunch of guys and scheduled a card.

Lovin the mod so far. Kinda sucks though because Mezger, Severn and Rutten all joined AKA upon debut and now won't fight each other which dosen't help my tourneys. I even set up Shamrock and Mezger with a strong friendship relationship prior to starting my game hoping he'd join Lions Den but no go. Ugh

I would suggest making Dan Severn younger. He announced his retirement after only five fights (4-1), the last of which he lost.

Or you could set his debut to the start of the game so you can have more fights with him.

I have a feeling that, because of how quickly he retires, if you set his debut earlier he might just retire earlier. Even if he doesn't you're only going to get a few more events out of him realistically.

Yeah, the only way to do it is lower his age to around 30. The age won't be "realistic" but at least you'll get some semblance of a career out of him.
