pstats 1.5 compatible with the latest game version (1.02)
This is the stuff modified in the database.
- Added Real Team nicknames
- Added Real conference names
- Added all the real Stadium names and capacities.
- Added all the real Award names (please check if they are correct).
- Added all the real Bowl names and Bowl Stadiums with capacities.
Fixed the following bugs found in the different releases:
Added the first and last name frequencies
UTEP name is UTEP now instead of Texas-El Paso
RICE name is RICE now instead of TexasRice
Auburn stadium name set to Jordan Hare
Arkansas stadium name set to Razorbacks
Fixed Penn State nickname that was still listed as the Cougars.
Fixed swaped Arkansas and Arkansas State abbreviations.
Fixed TCU nickname to Horned Frogs not Horn Frogs.
U Conn is now listd as UConn
The official capacity of Ross-Ade Stadium (Purdue) is now 62,500
Ball State stadium renamed Scheumann Stadium
Initials changed, important info for graphic mods makers:
I have made the following changes as some teams initials were wrong.
It affects the helmets/logos as they must have exactly the same initials than the team to be loaded in the game, else those 4 teams logos won't appear.
Virginia initials changed from VIR to UVA
(you need to change the vir.gif logo name to uva.gif and the vir-t.gif to uva-t.giv)
Oklahoma initials changed from OKL to OU
(you need to change the okl.gif logo name to ou.gif and the okl-t.gif to ou-t.giv)
Maryland initials changed from MAR to UMD
(you need to change the mary.gif logo name to umd.gif and the mary-t.gif to umd-t.giv)
Bowling Green initials changed from BG to BGSU
(you need to change the vir.gif logo name to bgsu.gif and the vir-t.gif to bgsu-t.giv)
Rivalries Adjusted
I have adjusted a lot of rivalries as suggested but i must tell you that because the game limitation of one rivalry per team, some rivalries are accurate but not 100% perfect.
Sometimes there are cross rivalries between 4 or 5 teams (for example between the Big 12 teams) and it's impossible to assign them properly so i have tried to adapt them to be realistic, but that means that for some teams, their listed rival is in real life his second rival and not the first.
Anyway i have just tried to develop a database the more accurate possible to the real NCAAF, if you don't like any of the rivalries you can always edit the file yourself for your own liking.
Now it's my time to enjoy the game and stop to make database changes unless a big bug is found.
Enjoy it :)
Please download, unzip and overwrite your pstats.dat and start a new game to have the changes done.
This won't affect your current saved games, only the new ones started.
Here you can find the updated teams logos (yahoo style) with the above changes.
Thanks to all the guys who contributed with their suggestions to make this possible.
Random Team selector
I have been programming today as somebody requested this in the past at the FOFC forums. It's an online tool to get a random team for those who want an extra challenge not choosing themselves the team they want to manage.
There you can get a fully random team or a random one in a selected conference or/and with a selected prestige. Also added some extra info like the the conference average prestige.

Guys, I think it's OK now. But one word of warning. We have found in testing that if you setup a team to have 2 rivals, make sure all of those three teams have "0" for rival week. One guy was messing with the rivals and set a team to have two rivals with week 15 set for both. The game ended up scheduling two games for that one team in week 15. Just an FYI.

Thanks for your work on this, it makes it so much easier than renaming each team once in-game.
A little note about conference name abbreviations, though Conference USA should be C-USA and Mountain West should be MWC.

My own rule of thumb: Do not schedule a game for rivalry week (15, or whatever you set your rivalry week as) unless the two teams list each other as their rivals - Notre Dame/Boston College, South Carolina/Clemson, Cal/Stanford, et al.

How set up a team to have 2 rivals? Put in two numbers for the rival field?
st.cronin
11-29-2005, 08:28 PM
Don't know if this is a bug ... but if a rivalry game is 2 teams from different conferences, you cannot enter 0 for the week - if you do, the game will not be scheduled.

Sorry guys i missed the release. I'm on holidays in the Canary Islands and the hotel wifi connection is having problems, that is why i haven't released the updated DB. Today has been the first day i could connect to try to download the final game but it's taking a lot. Luckilly my wife allowed me to bring the notebook with me so i can try to work on the updated db. I'll try to finish it in the next 24 hours, then if the internet connection is ok, i'll upload and release it. Else i will need to wait until Tuesday morning when i get back home.
About playing with 1.3 on the final game, it can lead to problems as Arlie tweaked some things after this db was released, like team prestiges etc that could be outdated in 1.3. Also as Skydog mentioned the players names/surnames generation could lead to some weird names. You can try it, but ipm not sure what kind of poblems you could have.
SkyDog
12-10-2005, 06:15 PM
To elaborate specifically on the names isseue, the "FirstNames" and "LastNames" tables should have another column, entitled "Chances" that gives the frequency of that name's usage. For example, the first few lines of "First Names" table in the game release are:
A.D., 2
A.J., 4
Aaron, 29
AB, 1
Adual, 1
Abdul-Salam, 1
Abe, 2
Abner, 2
Adam, 11
Ade, 1
Adesola, 1
Adewale, 1
Adger, 1
Adrian, 9
....
The most frequent first names in the table are.....
Mike, 161
John, 137
Jim, 114
Bob, 100
Chris, 92
Joe, 90
Steve, 86
Tony, 81
James, 80
Bill, 73
Tom, 69
David, 69
Dave, 66
Point being, without that "Chances" column, there's an equal chance of "Mike" being a guy's first name as is Kimo, Jace, Jamil, Jamin, Jud, Iheany, or any of the 830 names with "1" frequency. The table should work great, with a total of 1,511 first names, with frequencies ranging from 1 to 161.
SkyDog
12-10-2005, 06:18 PM
To further elaborate on the names, with the table used as-is in the release version, roughly half of the players in the game should have these 81 common first names (in order from least frequent to most frequent):
Corey Andre Brandon Wayne Rob Rod Bruce Jon Kenny Chuck Justin Jimmy Tommy Nick Dennis Pete Johnny Eddie Pat Marcus Brad Josh Charles Sam Travis Aaron Chad Ryan Randy Al George Derrick Jack Dick Dan Ed Terry Anthony Doug Ray Reggie Scott Charlie Paul Greg Todd Frank Ken Matt Tim Keith Robert Gary Eric Willie Jerry Brian Michael Billy Bobby Ron Fred Mark Jason Don Jeff Kevin Larry Dave David Tom Bill James Tony Steve Joe Chris Bob Jim John Mike

The official capacity of Ross-Ade Stadium (Purdue) is now 62,500. http://purduesports.collegesports.com/facilities/ross-ade-stadium.html

Just want to check something. In the first post, it mentions UTEP's rival changed to NMSU instead of Hawaii. In the game it still lists UTEP's rival as Hawaii. By saying it was fixed, did you mean that pstats lists UTEP and NMSU as rivals but the game doesn't show mulitiple rivals and so Hawaii is still listed as UTEP's rival? Same thing with Boise State/Wyoming.

Icy, I was looking around inside the pstats file and in the Conference Table i saw a place for inputing Conference Championship Game information. I did a little reasearch and got the information in case you want to include it in your next update. All the CCGs are played in Domes, but I dont think you can indicate that anywhere. Also, underneath ChampStadium I assume you just type out the Stadium since there are no Stadium ID numbers. Here is the CCG info:
Conference: Stadium - City ID# - Capacity
ACC: AllTell Stadium - 14 - 73000
Big XII: Reliant Stadium - 4 - 69500
MAC: Ford Field - 10 - 65000
SEC: Georgia Dome - 38 - 71149
At this time, Conference USA does not have a permanent location for their championship game. The home site is determined by the team with best overall conference record.

For the real teams database (pstats1.5.zip):
1- Download the file
2- Double click on it to open it with winzip or the Windows XP built in zip compressor.
3- Extract it to C:\Program files\GDS\Bowl Bound College Football
4- If asked about overwriting old files, click on Yes.
For the real teams logos:

2- Double click on it to open it with winzip or the Windows XP built in zip compressor.
3- Extract it to C:\Program files\GDS\Bowl Bound College Football\graphics\helmets
4- If asked about overwriting old files, click on Yes.
And that is all, you need to start a new game for them to be used.
