View Full Version : Where does Tommy Cornell come from?

AdmiralZ
10-27-2004, 02:37 PM
So, we know he's from the UK (whey!) but where exactly?

Adam Ryland
10-27-2004, 02:39 PM
Norwich.

AdmiralZ
10-27-2004, 02:48 PM
Why?

Adam Ryland
10-27-2004, 02:50 PM
Why wouldn't someone live in Norwich? It's a lovely place for Cornell Towers to be situated.

AdmiralZ
10-27-2004, 05:35 PM
I just wondered if there was a special meaning. Lol. More random stuff about Tommy Cornell? Does he support Norwich's football team? lol

|Anderz|
10-27-2004, 07:38 PM
who in their right mind would? (no offence to any Canary fans out there).... granted their ahead of us in the Premiership but then again everyone is.... (Yeah I support Blackburn).... Now if Cornell supported Rovers then he'd be a god in my book....

this just deserves a lol

Tommy supports non-league Solihull Borough. :D

AdmiralZ

yeah, byt Tommy is also the best wrestler in the CornellVerse!

AdmiralZ

Good on Adam for making him English!

10-28-2004, 03:54 PM
Well Cornell is English isn't he ;)

Ooooh, that reminds me, what is the Guit Trip?

Adam Ryland
10-31-2004, 09:02 AM
All of Cornell's trademark moves are in the database, so you'll see what they all are when the game is released :)

AdmiralZ
10-31-2004, 10:31 AM
He has more than one?

Adam Ryland
10-31-2004, 10:56 AM
Quite a few of the big names have several unique moves in their move set. I think Kikkawa has 6, which is the most.

AdmiralZ
10-31-2004, 04:11 PM
Does Sam Strong have a lot like that highly innovative move, The Strong Clothesline. The Strong Puch perhaps? Or The Strong Boot?

Oh and who the hell is Kikkawa?

Adam Ryland
11-01-2004, 02:34 AM
Oh and who the hell is Kikkawa?

Tadiyuki Kikkawa, BHOTWG world champion, one of the toughest guys in the game.

AdmiralZ
11-02-2004, 04:25 PM
Oh, well, I don't like BHOTWG much, I'm more of a PGHW man.

Phil Parent
11-15-2004, 07:08 PM
Kikkawa is like some of those, you know, E-Fed guys I've heard of. Like Misawa, Kawada....like all rolled into one. Like.

And you can wail on him for hours before he starts to feel it. Yes.

AdmiralZ
11-16-2004, 11:39 AM
wtf?

cyberkitten01
11-16-2004, 11:44 AM
wtf?

Made sense to me. Sounds like someone you want on your side backstage, since going against him even when you're at your best would probably be suicide

Phil Parent
11-16-2004, 12:13 PM
You know, I understand the AdmiralZ' reaction.

He's been watching all those posers for years, so when he sees or is simply EXPOSED to the great fighters of the CornellVerse, he's confused.

But fear not. The days of fakes like Mitsuharu Misawa, and Masahiro Chono, and Kurt Angle, and Ebessan, and, and, and, Phil Raven, and you know those guys....no longer should games be made about that universe. These guys are tired, old & worned out, and they ALL step aside while the REAL WORLD sets in. That's right, no more posers! Only the real bleeders, sweaters and bangers of the squared circle in our games! I SAY NO TO POSERS!! SAY NO TO POSERS!! ALL HAIL TOMMY CORNELL!!

That is the greatness of someone like Tadiyuki Kikkawa, for instance. You know, if somebody would take a shotgun and blow a mellon-size hole in my general gonads area, I don't think I'm being un-manly when I say that I would, at least, fall down and scream like a *****. But Kikkawa would take it....like a paper cut. Honest. You've got to see Kikkawa in action to believe the man's fighting spirit, and this is what this is all about.

I'll share a memory. My friend Alysian Scottsfield wrestled him once. I was there in Tokyo, for business, and I couldn't believe my eyes. Alys is no wimp, but Kikkawa rendered him totally defenseless in, what, 5 minutes!? And then he proceeded to sadistically drop him on his spine a dozen times or two before pinning him, visibly happy that all that was left working in my friend's body was his primary bodily functions, which allowed him to still live. If you consider somebody can still live with a spine broken in 12 places.

Yep.

What in the hell are you talking about?

Phil Parent
11-16-2004, 01:17 PM
Tadiyuki Kikkawa. Don't you know him? Hell read my post again if you don't.

kettley
11-16-2004, 01:35 PM
The thing we all have to remember at this point though is that Tadiyuki Kikkawa fears Mean Jean Cattley.

Phil Parent
11-16-2004, 02:19 PM
Kikkawa fears no one. MAYBE Cattley SAYS Kikkawa fears him (never heard it), but he wouldn't ever tell it to his face.

Derek B
11-16-2004, 02:56 PM
Aw, geez...... just remember Kikkawa's stats...... massively tough, huge guy, brawls like a machine..... will no doubt have HUGE fighting spirit..... has huge stamina...... aw geez.... I'm never ever gonna take a match against him if I can help it..... even Duane Stone would have problems beating him!

All hail Duane Stone, the Stone that can fly!

Again, I understood. Very funny Phil

Once a car landed on Kikkawa's head.. and he no-selled it. That's how tough he is

Give up some more info about Tommy Cornell

Does he have a family?
Is he the wrestlers version of Adam Ryland?
Any other cool info

Also, Phil, you really need to stop playing TEW whilst smoking crack, it's messing with your mind :)

Phil Parent

Tommy Cornell is the end all be all of pro wrestling. The best of his generation. Outside Japan. What they say.

You are new to wrestling, aren't you?

But Kikkawa Rules All. I think Adam Ryland is so prejudiced, putting his buddy Cornell on the marquee just because of that, he's his buddy. Well I say Adam Ryland is simply trying to tarnish the star of Kikkawa because he knows Kikkawa is a MAJOR threat to his little friend's star. I say Kikkawa beats Cornell within 20 minutes. Easilly.

Mr T Jobs To Me

Big Smack Scott has injured twice as many people as Kikkawa with his incredibly sloppy moves. If Kikkawa ever fought Big Smack Scott, Big Smack Scott would break Kikkawa's neck with a piledriver in 6 minutes.

Noah
11-17-2004, 12:39 AM
But would be beat Kikkawa? No, because Kikkawa would get right back up and fight through the broken neck. Big Smack Scott is nothing more than a poser trying to pass himself off as the real deal. Big Smack Scott doesn't deserve to hold Kikkawa's jock strap.

LoL, this thread is funny and off-topic.. But I like it.. :)

Kudos to Adam for the Cornellverse

Kudos to Adam for the Cornellverse

Kudo? I don't think so. He'd never be able to beat Kikkawa even if Kikkawa died in the middle of the match. Some people these days have no idea what real wrestling is about.....

Matches I'd love to see but that won't happen:

Yoshimi Mushashibo vs Tadiyuki Kikkawa
Nobatsu Taksuko vs Tadiyuki Kikkawa
Jeff Nova vs Tadiyuki Kikkawa

Those would be good matches. I'd travel to Japan just to see those....

Sloppiness > Stiffness. Therefore, Big Smack Scott > Kikkawa, just as Bob Holly > Samoa Joe. Big Smack Scott would never take an interest in holding Kikkawa's jock strap, and as far as being a Poser, if that heresy ever stained the ears of Big Smack Scott, he would find you and Botched Vertical Suplex you so bad your entire family would feel it.

Kikkawa is nothing! You should have seen the 40 minute battle between Sam Strong and Rip Chord back in '86. Now that was a match and three quarters. I was there personally, front row, if you watch the tape, you can see me wearing a Sam Strong shirt. Of course, everyone was supporting Strong at the time but he was the man back then. No one thought that Chord had a chance, but he fought valiantly, that was what turned him face in the end of course.

Now, as you well know, I hate Sam Strong.... but I once seen a match of his from the early 80s (don't know when) with Pistol Pete Hall and I just went WOW! Of course, Pistol carried him all the way but the match was just great. Even now, it still looks great. But I hear Pistol got injured and doesn't wrestle any more.... bet that was Strong's fault!

AdmiralZ

He was only 42 and Chord was about 36. He was still a relatively good wrestler back then.

Derek B

Sam Strong lies about his age! We all know he's much older than he says he is! He started looking old back in 1980 and looks older than my granddad now! Strong must be at least70! He should retire now! Retire, Strong, retire!

Sam Strong is really like 24 according to internet dirt sites.

Little known fact about Big Smack Scott: The only reason he's so sloppy is because he's so old he has arthritis, so he can't hold onto things for too long.

Mr T Jobs To Me
11-18-2004, 12:16 PM
A) Pistol Pete Hall was definitely the bomb.
B) Big Smack Scott takes pride in injuring opponents, which is the major reason he is sloppy. Age has little or nothing to do with it, as he is only 37 at this time.
C) Sam Strong and the Strong Clothesline don't deserve derek b's harsh criticism, Sam Strong is a true legend, as proved by his appearance in the 1993 hit, Mr. Babysitter and the 1995 smash Return to Lightning Penninsula.
P.S., the original data definitely needs celebrity personalitites who would do either one time appearances or appearances for a couple months and have ex football players who seek careers that could last for a while.

AdmiralZ
11-18-2004, 03:58 PM
Let's not forget his appearence in the classic boxing film Blocky VIII!

Uh, I think you'll find that my criticism of Sam Strong is well justified. I mean, everyone knows how he's played politics to hold on to his position at the top. I mean, he was the head booker for HGC for ages before Tommy Cornell took the company over.

And his finisher is a clothesline for crying out loud! A CLOTHESLINE!!! Everyone does that now. He can't move with the times! He can't wrestle! And the only reason anyone cheers for him is because he's done the same routine for over 20 years now....... he's so..... predictable and old! He should retire!

And he can't act!

Retire, Strong, retire!!

Strong was great in Blocky VIII!!! And the last time Strong played politics was in 1994, when he struggled with Richard Eisen for control of SWF... You would know more about that if my TEW hadn't stopped working midway through a 1994 scenario I was doing.

Who is Lou Thesz? Weden, if ya gonna talk about random people that no-one has ever heard of then you might as well just say that Joe Schmoe invented the Guilt Trip 2 minutes before Tommy Cornell.

Geez, I mean really? Who is Lou Thesz? Sam Strong pre-dates history.... hell, he probably wrestled in the first ever wrestling match.

Derek B
11-19-2004, 05:49 PM
Ah, that might explain it. No wonder I haven't heard of him. I might be a great (well, I think so) online wrestler but I can't be expected to know every made up guy like that.

But when you have guys nowadays like Sean McFly, Tommy Cornell, the entire Stone family, the DeColts, Kikkawa, Nobatsu Tatsuko, Yoshimi Mushashibo, Eisaku Hoshino, Kunomasu, Scout, Guide, Runaway Train, Dread, Bruce the Giant..... y'know, REAL wrestlers, why would you even want to e-wrestle? Its guys like them that make me really want to wrestle, especially Duane Stone. He's totally awesome!

How can you call NOTBPW crappy?! Have you never seen any of the matches there? Every single one of them is millions of times better than any of Strong's matches, even the ones from 20 years ago when he was still only in his 70s. Not the 70s, his 70s. And any Stone could beat Strong any day. Duane, Jeremy, Dan Jr, Victoria.... hell, even Edd or Dan Sr. And don't even get me started on Sean McFly. His matches with the Stones are legendary around the world for being the best ever. Sam Strong is legendary for the worst matches in history.

Being a Sam Strong hater is being a hater of Pro Wrestling. Nothing (Except the Big Smack Scott neckbreaking Brainbuster) gets me more hyped than when Strong "bulks up" at the 7 minute mark, seemingly getting a breath of new life into his geriatric body, and his saggy man boobs perk back up, and the now 17 inch pythons get ready to deliver the Strongest move in wrestling, the Strong Clothesline. Sam Strong vs. Christian Faith circa 1991 was my dream match.

AdmiralZ

Hey! He does not have man boobs. You're thinking of Richard Eisen.

Derek B

Oh please, with this. Kikkawa? Sam Strong? Tommy Cornell? They all pale in comparison to the man that will carry the industry into the future, once he breaks away from his no talent brother. Yes, I am talking about Bryan Vessey. He'll be the biggest star in the world once he gets past Sam Strong's glass ceiling.

You're so full of it. Kikkawa could beat all these guys.

The Stones, I've got a liking for though. I like their technical excellence.

But Kikkawa DID beat Dan Jr. Kikkawa wore a mask back then, he was known as "Nin No Lionhead", but he did beat Dan Jr. Easilly, too.

I think, no matter we'll ALL have to get together, buy this game, and then use our customers' power to get KIKKAWA on the box art of the next game.

Although shipments to Japan do have Kikka on there (Over there, the game is known as "Kikkawa Tadiyuki No Toukon Resuringu" or "The Wrestling Spirit of Tadiyuki Kikkawa".

So I guess, what I'm getting to is....LET'S BOYCOTT THE CORNELL BOX ART!!! LET'S BUY THE IMPORT!!!

Mr T Jobs To Me
