The General Rules
1 – We get the ten sign ups that I want and divide everyone into the two leagues.
2 – The ten sign ups then draft a team of ten fighters, two for each UFC weight class.
3 – Everyone in the EWB league will fight each other once in a season; everyone in the GDS league will fight each other once a season. Four teams will fight on a card, giving one team a rest period. For example if Team A fights Team B and Team C fights Team D, Team E sits that round out.
4 – There are five fights a card, one from each weight class. Winning a fight by a stoppage (TKO, submission etc.) gets a team three points. Winning a fight by decision nets 2, while losing a decision grabs your team one point. Losing by stoppage is a big fat nothing and a draw is two each. The team with the most wins gets a bonus five points at the end.
5 – These points make up the league and the team with the most points at the end of it all is the winner and will face the winner of the opposing league at the season finale. Awards and such follow.
6 – We then have another, smaller draft at the end of the season in which teams can draft in a free agent to replace existing fighters to beef up their team for the new season.
7 – We then repeat for Season 2 and so on, possibly adding more teams or divisions if there’s demand.
Drafting a Team
1 – The good bit. Assuming there are ten people signed up, everyone needs ten fighters on their team, two for each weight class. You have a main fighter for each weight class, and then a reserve fighter for each weight class who steps in if the main man is unable to make the event due to recovery times or injuries.
2 – First up, we decide a random draft order to see who picks first, then everyone makes a list of ten fighters in the heavyweight division they want and PM’s me them. This list might look something like this:
1. Fedor Emelianenko
2. Brock Lesnar
3. Frank Mir
4. Shane Carwin
5. Cain Velasquez
6. Antonio Nogueira
7. Junior dos Santos
8. Andrei Arlovski
9. Mirko Cro Cop
10. Josh Barnett
I’ll then pick who’s got who from their list and we’ll do the same for Light Heavyweight, Middleweight, Welterweight and Lightweight.
3 – We then do the same for every divisions reserve pick, only this time the picking order is reversed. So those who drafted first in main picks, go last in the reserves and vice versa.
4 – Once all ten fighters are picked we’re good to go with the first card. Teams are locked until the next draft period barring a freak injury incident or retirement.
5 – At the end of the season, teams can exchange fighters or drop other fighters for new fighters. I’ll be keeping everyone up to date with news reports so they know who’s hot and who’s not in the game world.
6 – Anyone, ANYONE is eligible to picked, they don’t have to be a UFC fighter, so Fedor and Aoki can be picked etc. This gives the people who just watch UFC a disadvantage, as they won't know some of the other options out there, particularly the Japanese guys.
7 – Certain fighters can be picked to fight in certain divisions. These are; Randy Couture (LHW & HW), Dan Henderson (MW & LHW), Anderson Silva (MW & LHW), Rich Franklin (MW & LHW) and BJ Penn (LW & WW). However they can only fight in one division per season and are locked into it.
8 – Seeing as we aren’t using Featherweight or below, fighters such as Miguel Torres, Jose Aldo, Urijah Faber and Mike Brown are eligible for draft to the lightweight division.
This should provide some interesting tactics as you could either go for two superstars in every division and risk ending up with no-one you really want, or two old fighters who’ll have to be replaced after one or two seasons. Or you could go for one superstar and one promising reserve fighter, building him up to take over your main guy after a few seasons. Or you could have two youngsters and face a lot of pain early on in return of great success in the future.
You could also either concentrate on two or three divisions to get you points, or try and build up contenders in every class.
And that’s it. Time to pick your main fighters for every weight class. So I need five top ten draft lists sending to me via PM as soon as possible. That’s a top ten for heavyweight, light heavyweight, middleweight, welterweight and lightweight. Then we’re almost done. :)
IF PEOPLE DONT WANT TO DO TOP TENS YOU CAN DO LESS, BUT IF YOU'RE GUYS GET TAKEN BEFORE YOU CAN PICK THEM, I'LL EITHER CHASE YOU UP FOR ANOTHER PICK OR THEY COULD END UP BEING PICKED FOR YOU
