Is the total number of teams hard coded into the game? One of the things that I love about this game is that is very friendly to the modding community. I lack the skills to mod myself, but I would absolutely love a Div II or NAIA mod with all the teams that belong in that division. I realize it would take quite a long time to sim all those games, but I'm a patient person and it would be worth it. I suppose the number of recruits might also be problematic. Modern computers should be able to handle it, if the software can. It just doesn't seem right to play Div II or NAIA with only 117 teams.

It doesn't appear to be hard coded, but I am currently considering the possibility there is a max limit either to teams or conferences based on a problem I'm having building a mod.

I don't think it is hard coded, but any time I add teams to the pstats file the game will crash when creating the league. Seems to be almost always when creating coaches. I'm still working on the D2 file hoping I can figure out what I am doing wrong so all teams can be included, and all teams in their respective conferences.

I have added 4 more teams to my D2 file, and the game creates a new league now. I go to one of the new teams and it looks fine, players are there, then I click on team info and I get RT error 91. It looks like there is no schedule for the team.
I decided to try to sim the league, and it got to week 3, all teams playing their games, so I stopped it and went back to the team info screen and got another RTE 91.
Could there be something with the schedmatch that we need to do? Those numbers make absolutely no sense when trying to decipher it. :D

Make sure you have rivals setup for the teams and sort the IDs back in numerical order. Also, make sure the conference setup is correct with the right number of teams. You need to make sure all files have the ID's in numerical order with no skips. I found that fixed a lot of issues with adding and subtracting teams.
I'm able to sim an entire season with my 1983 league. I now get an RTE 91 error when it is time for the post season. I'm still working on that issue. Also, the bug or error that causes rival games not to show up on the schedule (ex. Army vs. Navy) seems to pop up on some of my teams.

Thanks MitchG
I didn't add in rivalries to the 4 teams I added, works like a charm now. Might be time to add in the rest of the teams to my D2 files.

Wondering if perhaps the rivals area is where I am getting the error with my NAIA file. Just FYI, I have 94 teams in the NAIA.

I stayed up way to late last night and added in the rest of the teams and conferences, the D2 file now includes all 148 teams and 15 conferences. All teams are now in their respective divisions/conferences. I have simmed a couple of seasons, so far no glitches. Their seems to be plenty of recruits, something like 3400 the game generated. 'Bout all I need to do is edit in the helmets and logos for the added teams. I hope to update the D2 downloads later today if I get the time.

Yeah, D3 would be too big I'm imagining. There are over 300 teams in D3. But that would be neat if I could do that. lol

Was helped along by Dunk on my NAIA file. The guy is awesome. Now, the time to tweak it just right to make it shine. Carroll won over St. Francis today for a 4 peat in the NAIA championship. Until my brother played in the NAIA, I never knew how much fun small college was. There are alot less prima-donnas. It seems the game is so much more pure than at the higher ego driven levels.
