We are just one night removed from the Bash at the Beach, and the show opens with the Titans of Wrestling making their entrance down the aisle.....and as Hollywood Hogan jams to the funky music using the WCW Championship as his own personal air guitar, he is followed by Randy Savage, Jean Paul Levesque, the Enforcer Tay Traylor, the Nasty Boys......and last but not least (presumably) their newest member, Vince Russo.....who struts along with an arrogance that’s been absent in his demeanour until now........

......the men climb into the ring, where Russo grabs a microphone (to a chorus of boos) and with Hollywood and the rest of the Titans bow down Wayne’s World style in a “we’re not worthy” motion, before laughing and slapping their newest member in the back......Russo is all smiles as he brings the microphone to his mouth......stating that....

”........it’s time to address the elephant in the room......”why Vince, why?”........talk about a stupid question........the Titans of Wrestling? Bro, there’s no bigger Titan of Wrestling than Vince Russo......you’re talking about the man that built the empire up from number two to number one in less than a year......took the competition to the very top......then walked away to do it all over again......except THIS time, I get to do it with some of the biggest Icon’s the wrestling business has ever seen......instead of the biggest EGO’S the wrestling business has ever seen.......Hollywood Hogan? The Macho Man Randy Savage......are you frigging kidding me bro.......I’ll take that over prima-donna Boy Toys and Big Lazy’s any day of the week.......if you’re talking about the true Titans of Wrestling, you’re talking about the Mega Powers, not kliq’s.......you’re talking about the men who built the industry, not the ones that grew up watching them.......”

.....Russo says that he’s been a Titan since before the Titans even existed.....who do you think has been putting the prices of the puzzle in place behind the scenes?.....who do you think made it possible for WCW to capture one of the hottest talents in all of Wrestling, Jean Paul Levesque?.....(Although that looks like it was news to JPL, who doesn’t look particularly pleased to hear that it was Russo that engineered his exit from the big leagues)......he says that he spent the last 18 months working with the so called “new generation” of wrestler.......

”.......and you can take it from me, the new generation of wrestler is nothing more than an entitled little b!tch.....who thinks he’s the next coming of Jesus Christ himself, just because the dirtsheets told him he was.....well I’ve got news for you “jack”.....you ain’t sh!t......there’s a reason that the WWF dropped down to the number two promotion and that was because all its stars came here.....and the only reason that Vince McMahon isn’t bankrupt right now, is because VINCE RUSSO stepped in and took control.......”

.......Russo says that the only men that knew about his involvement in the Titans of Wrestling, were Hollywood Hogan and Randy Savage.....and he HAD hoped to keep it that way......had the rest of the Titans not let things get away from them last night......he says that while they SHOULD have been picking up victories, they were too busy arguing amongst themselves.....they SHOULD be standing here with not only the WCW Title, but the Tag Titles too.....telling The Nasty Boys and the Enforcer that they need to buck their idea’s up, because Vince Russo has got a little black book filled with potential Titans in training just waiting to make the move down south......

”......all three if you are replaceable....so you might want to start making it up at Road Wild, when you take back those WCW Tag Team Titles from the Road Warriors......and to everyone else in the back.......and that includes all you younger talent.......Vince Russo said that the new WCW was going to be the land of opportunity.......it still is......the opportunity to learn from some of the greatest minds this business has ever seen.......or the opportunity to get steamrolled over by the black and white express.......the choice gentlemen, is entirely yours........”

......Hogan takes the mic, saying that he’s all for mentoring some of the stars of he future.....after all, you have to BE a star to MAKE a star, and there’s no bigger star than Hollywood Hogan.......so any of those young talent in the back that want to worship the ground that Hollywood walks on, they are welcome to share in his greatness......and maybe......MAYBE......longggggg after Hollywood retires, they might just be somebody in this business......

”......but as for the Stings......the Lex Lugers......the Warriors of the world......your days are done brothers.......and if any of you get in Hollywood’s way.......your careers will be done too......”

His Lordship may not have walked out of Bash at the Beach with the victory.....he did however walk out of Bash at the Beach with the TV Title still around his waist, as Earl Robert and the Duke, Douglas Williams made sure to get their man disqualified as he was locked in the Boston Crab, before Rick Martel could pick up the submission victory......Lord Steven isn’t being allowed to rest on his laurels however, as he has a big, big test tonight.....the fighting Irishman, Finlay......

......these two had a great little match.....hard hitting and stiff as hell......in the end however, the Blue Bloods were there once more to ensure their Lord retained his Championship......and he actually won the match this time too.....because as Finlay attempts to suplex Regal back into the ring from the apron, the Duke grabs his leg, causing him to lose his footing.....and as Regal crashes down on top of him, Eaton and Williams grab a foot each preventing the Irishman from kicking out and giving his Lordship the pinball victory.

Winner: ........and Still WCW Television Champion.....Lord Steven Regal
Rating: B

Quote:

The fighting Irishman may be down, but he is certainly not out, as he’s quick back to his feet and back on the offence, hammering Regal with a series of stiff European Uppercuts that drives the Brit back into the corner.......obviously the two Noblemen on the outside aren’t going to stand for that, and both slide into the ring, pouncing on Finlay from behind and beating him down to the mat......Regal gets back to his feet, furious at the post match assault and quickly locks on the Regal Stretch, wrenching back on the outnumbered Finlay for all he’s worth.........

......until Rick Martel comes running down the aisle to break it up, sending Eaton and Williams bailing to the outside, where Regal soon joins them........

......Martel isn’t the greatest talker in the world, but he grabs the microphone here, telling Regal that his henchmen have saved that Television Title two nights in a row now......well Martel wants another shot......and if Regal has the guts, he’ll leave the Blue Bloods in the back where they belong.......

......Regal is appalled at the gall of Martel, calling him a “filthy scoundrel” for putting Regals good name to disrepute.......and if he wants another good thrashing, then he will damn well get one.......but not tonight.....and Regal collects his Championship before leaving with the Earl and the Duke.......but it appears that Rick Martel has another shot lined up for the Television Title.

One of the biggest problems WCW has right now is the enormous gulf between the main event, the upper midcard.....and EVERYONE else who auto pushes at pretty much lower midcard and below......even Riggs and Disco, both of whom have been with the company a few years by this point are barely scraping in as lower midcarders......with that being said, it’s going to be somewhat of an uphill battle to create at least a few credible midcarders.....with that being said, you can expect to see some more of the lower card guys getting some screen time, even if it results in shocking match grades such as this........and believe it or not these two had some good chemistry.....so god knows how bad it could have been without that little note.......anyway.......the babyface side of the roster is the weakest.......Riggs wins.

Winner: Scotty Riggs

Following that we head to the entrance way, where Mean Gene is standing by to shill the WCW Hotline, before welcoming us to his next guest......the man who was victorious against VK Wallstreet last night......Chris Benoit.....Benoit gets a decent reception as he comes out, not a surprise when you consider that he’s probably the number one non main event babyface right now.....but then that’s not saying much, when outside of Diamond Dallas Page his only competition is Jim Duggan and Brad Armstrong......

......Gene says that after finally putting the challenge of VK Wallstreet behind him, where does a Chris Benoit go from here?.....obviously talking isn’t Benoit’s strong point, but he cuts a half decent promo here......he says that he’s heard what Vince Russo has had to say, but as far as he’s concerned, this is WCW......and “Titans” don’t matter in World Championship Wrestling......WRESTLERS matter......and as far as he is concerned, there’s no better WRESTLER on the planet than Chris Benoit.....and if this so called “new” WCW is really all about opportunity, then Chris Benoit will EARN a Championship opportunity......not by kissing Hollywood Hogan’s ass.....but by doing what he does best......WRESTLING......and winning matches.

Our next match features The Soul Train (Ernest Miller and Ice Train) going up against the Blue Bloods pairing of Earl Robert Eaton and The Duke, Douglas Williams......his Lordship has decided to stay in the back for this one, clearly wary of anymore appearances by Rick Martel, while (fat) Teddy Long is out with his team.....

......this match was pretty good considering the fact that Eaton is the biggest name out of all four men.....The Duke is certainly benefiting from teaming up with this Tag Team veteran, and he gets better every week.....he’s still relatively new to the sport however so it’s his partner that carries the workload for their team.......Miller and Train are working out pretty well as a team, which is fortunate for them, because I’m not exactly a fan of either so they’d be unlikely to see much success as singles stars......but then to be fair they didn’t see much success tonight either, as the Noblemen picked up the victory with their new finishing manoeuvre “London’s Falling” which is essentially a variation of Demolitions “Demolition Decapitation” only instead of an elbow from the second rope, it’s a backbreaker/legdrop combination, with Eaton dropping the leg from the top rope.

Winner(s): The Blue Bloods

Next up we have Diamond Dallas Page in action against Buff Bagwell.....Page is fresh off an unsuccessful bid to recapture the United States Championship that he never actually lost last night, and has got to be questioning his decision to willingly hand over the Title Belt to Vince Russo....especially following Russo’s actions at the Bash at the Beach.......

.......Buff on the other hand picked up a big win last night (well, yesterday afternoon actually) when he won the Bash ON the Beach Battle Royal.....and after being victorious on the pre-show this month, he’s got to want to transfer that success to a match on the main show of NEXT months Road Wild Pay Per View......that’s if he can draw his attention away from Kimberly Page, who he spends a good portion of the match flexing his biceps at......so much so that it ended up costing him the match, as he turned around after telling Kim that he’s the Stuff, only to walk straight into a Diamond Cutter.

Winner: Diamond Dallas Page
Rating: C+

Quote:

DDP makes his way to the back with Kimberly on his arm, but Mean Gene is waiting to intercept him in the aisleway.....Gene says that after failing to regain the United States Championship last night, it must feel good to be getting back to winning ways?....

......obviously Page agrees.....he tells Gene that he is disappointed not to be standing here with the US Title right now.....but he’s more disappointed in the way that Eddie Guerrero defeated him last night....but then, when you’ve got people like Hollywood “scum” Hogan walking around here with his so called Titans of Wrestling, thinking they can run the whole shebang, then it probably shouldn’t come as much of a shock that people are willing to do whatever it takes to get ahead......but one thing is for sure, and that’s the fact that you might be able to knock DDP down......but keeping him down, that’s a whole different matter.......

”.......see I’ve been getting back up my entire life......and that positive attitude in life that’s GUARANTEED me a good life......it’s what got a guy like me, a girl like this......it’s what got me into the wrestling business......it’s what turned me from a commentator, to a manager, to a wrestler......it’s what won me Championships, and it’s what will win me Championships again......and I don’t need to worship the ground that ANYONE walks on, other than this beautiful woman right here.......so Hogan....Guerrero......Regal......anyone that holds gold right now, know one thing......sooner rather than later, Diamond Dallas Page is going to be a Champion again.....and he’s gonna do it on his own.....you can be positive about that......”

......with that Page holds up the sign for the Diamond Cutter.......just as Kimberly lets out a loud scream........

.......as Buff comes running up the aisle to nail Page from behind, knocking him to the floor, where he proceeds to stomp on him for a moment, before dragging him back to his feet and launching him at the crowd barrier, as Mean Gene drops the microphone and scarpers.....

......Buff picks up the discarded microphone, telling Page that he’s a moron if he doesn’t thing that hanging with Hollywood Hogan is a good idea......Buff Bagwell for one would be happy to bask in Hogan’s spotlight......

”........and Kim, anytime you want your world rocked, ditch your OLD man and come and find a REAL man......because Buff Daddy could show you what a “bang” really is.......”

To give you an idea of how wide the overness gap here in WCW is, Bill Goldberg has wrestled 8 matches in his career....(yes he’s 8-0).....3 or 4 of them have been on the B Show that I wish to god we didn’t have......he’s beaten pretty much no names......and he’s already auto pushing as a midcarder.....a midcarder after a month in the business.....ridiculous really.......

.....anyway.....the match.......Goldberg beat Mike Enos last night.....tonight it’s his partners turn, and Wayne Bloom has got to be wanting to do better than his Destruction Crew team mate........unsurprisingly he doesn’t......as (the man that has apparently picked up enough fans to make it to the midcard) Bill Goldberg puts him away with the Spear/Jackhammer combination in 2:19

Winner: Bill Goldberg

After that dominating display we head to the back, where Mean Gene is standing by with Lex Luger, The Giant......and The Warrior, who is currently pacing back and forth behind everyone else, letting out the occasional grunt and snort.....this isn’t a long segment....it’s basically Luger stating that there are no depths that Hollywood Hogan won’t go to in order to hold that WCW Title......and Vince Russo is an even bigger snake in the grass than Hogan is.....he says that The Giant has Mike Awesome to deal with tonight, but once he’s Chokeslammed the wannabe Giant Killer through the mat, then the Titans of Wrestling had better be ready for Lex Luger and The Giant.......and that’s when the Warrior decides to speak......

”......the scales of the unjust may continue to tip and tilt to the side of evil....as the weights of the corrupt pile one after one on the shoulders of the pure.....but even in the face of adversity the chosen few will fight to their last breath to defend the idea’s and the ideals of the promised land......never wavering.....never retreating......always waiting.....for the return of the missing piece of the puzzle......return to us Stinger.....join these few....these happy few.....these band of brothers......for you and I are forever joined as brothers......brothers of the paint.....brothers of the ring.......brothers of the universeeeeee.......”

.....with that the Warrior lets out an almighty snort.....before storming off, pumping his arms up and down.....

......Gene stares at Luger and The Giant for a moment, before asking if The Warrior actually just quoted Shakespeare? Luger just shrugs, saying that he hasn’t got a clue WHAT he just said......but he sounds intense.....

”.....and right now, we need intense.....”

These two men clashed last night, with The Giant picking up the DQ victory following the reveal of Awesome’s new manager/valet.....the one time First Lady of WCW and current Walking Riot, Missy Hyatt......obviously nothing was settled at the Bash at the Beach, so these two mammoth men will clash one more time this evening.....

.....tonight’s match goes much the same as last nights, with Awesome not backing down an inch from the offence of the seven foot former WCW Champion, and The Giant more than happy to keep providing that offence.....not that it’s all one way by any stretch of the imagination, Awesome gets more than his fair share of the match....and with Missy directing traffic on the outside Awesome looks more dangerous than ever, and looks to be creeping closer and closer to a huge upset victory.........

......at least he did...... until Vader and Bam Bam Bigelow come running down the aisle.....and with both men having fallen victim to Awesome in the last few weeks, they are clearly looking for revenge as they hit the ring, where they begin ping-ponging Awesome around the squared circle with dulling right hands......obviously however that gives the official little choice but to call for the bell.....and Mike Awesome has indeed defeated The Giant.....even if it is a mostly hollow disqualification victory.

Winner: Mike Awesome (via Disqualification)
Rating: B

Quote:

Vader and Bam Bam continue to bounce Awesome around the ring, until Vader finally backs the big man into the corner where he unleashes those big clubbing Vader patented blows......at least until Missy grabs her man by the ankle and drags him to the relative safety of the outside......I say relative safety because it looks as though Vader and Bigelow are about to follow him out.......at least until an angry Giant grabs both men by the shoulder and spins them around......

......it looks as though the Giant is not happy that they have not only interfered in his match, but actually cost him a victory here against Awesome......in fact, The Giant is so angry that an argument soon breaks out.....followed by a shoving match that looks as though it’s about to descend into a brawl........

.......at least that is until the Total Package comes running down the aisle, putting himself between his occasional partner and the two big men Vader and Bigelow......he manages to calm the Giant down eventually, and an uneasy truce comes into effect, as the camera catches sight of Missy and Awesome smirking on in the aisleway, as the four former WCW Champions in the ring argue about little old Mike.

It’s main event time now.....and considering some of the god awful grades we have had around here in the last month or so, this match was a very pleasant surprise, as the Macho Man proves once again, that given the right opponent, you can indeed get a good match out of the Warrior......because while this wasn’t up there with their Wrestlemania VII epic or their Summerslam 92 clash, it certainly wasn’t far behind.....and certainly (as far as WCW are concerned) Pay Per View quality......

........in fact it was only really the ending that let the match down, because after a hard fought battle that left both men spent, the Warrior was able to get Savage high up in the air with a Gorilla Press.......

But before he can drop his opponent, the rest of the Titans of Wrestling hit the ring, where Traylor pounds the Warrior in the kidneys with his trusty nightstick.....before the entire group swarm him......ding, ding , ding......this one is over....

Winner: The Warrior (via Disqualification)
Rating: B+

......but the beat down isn’t.....as the Titans continue to attack the Warrior like a pack of wild dogs....Hollywood pulls off his weightlifting belt and proceeds to tear strips off the Warriors back with it, before stepping back to let his men continue the assault, as he tells a nearby camera that......

”......the Warrior dude, he should have listened to Mr. Russo brother.....because now, Hollywood Hogan and the Titans of Wrestling are going to finish him off.....”

.......Hogan orders the Nasty Boys to pin the Warrior to the mat by his arms and legs, before sending the Macho Man up to the top rope....Savage stands perched on the top turnbuckle, pointing down at the Warrior, before raising his arms high in the air, signalling that he’s about to drop the elbow.......

”.......IT’S STING!!......STING IS HERE!!.....HE’S FINALLY SEEN ENOUGH, AND HES GOT A BASEBALL BAT!!!.......”

........Tony Schiavone practically wets himself in excitement, as The Stinger FINALLY answers the Warriors call to action.....and he does indeed have a baseball bat......

.......he dives into the ring and nails both Nasty Boys in the back, crashing the nightstick from The Enforcers hand, just as Savage leaps with a double ax-handle attempt......Sting sees him coming however, and the Macho Man is met by a blow to the exposed ribs with the bat.....and as Sting swings wildly, the Titans of Wrestling scatter to the outside, where they opt to retreat to the safety of the aisleway......

.....Warrior slowly sits up and Sting offers a hand, surprisingly helping his one time partner to his feet.....and as the Warrior asks Sting if he’s ready to join the fight, Sting simply nods as the Warrior snorts and beats his chest in celebration......while the Titans look on from the aisle.
