Yes, so I thought I'd came in here and take a seat since RaveX will finally make its move to GDS' board in the coming weeks.
Those who made the move to here with WreSpi and never went to .400 for T-2004 support maybe don't know me and RaveX. We're two guys (I and Jeff Cartwright) who do real world data for sims with the help of various part-timers (InfernalMIKO, Lukiep8, and others). We do it without pay, it's a hobby. Weird hobby that I'll give it to you, but it's a hobby. We're also not endorsed by anyone. We've got what I would now consider to be friendly rivals, T-Zone. They should also come over. We'll be providing you support for TEW 2005 until I've got to work on WreSpi 2, which I have NO clue when it is happening. Our Current Status: - No wrestler or promotion has been added yet. - Our final 2004 data has been ported over to 2005 format. - Jeff is currently updating the American, Canadian and Mexican promotions, rosters & side files, he's got the data for the whole week and he's got no school so he's working hard on this right now. After that, it will be my turn to update, this time the Quebec & Japanese promotions. I guess we'll toss a coin and decide who does England after that. Free Agents are done. - The "Locations" file, a rare file that we couldn't port over from 2004, has been done for a long time. There will be 574 arenas in there, from all over the world. We decided to use Venues instead of Cities or such. It was more natural plus we had some research done on that from a sim we worked on years ago, PWM. We of course refreshed our files and not only used years-old data, like that. - We'll be using some CornellVerse files, mostly "Matches", "Injuries", "Angles" & "Storylines" in our data. For no other reason than to save time. We'll end up editing and getting the most out of these later on. - Current plan is to release a fully updated TEW 2005 Update in the week following the launch of the game for sale. I'm not saying it won't have weaknesses, but we'll try for something playable. - Nothing new except for maybe that new Wah Wah We dev league, and of course the wrestlers we'll need to create to make the game up to date in the first release. First few release will concentrate on tweaking data to make it more playable and also on populating Europe. I will Live Update of course, since that worked well later in the 2004 updating cycle. Live Updates make the support of two games, or two data sets, at a time possible. - You'll be happy to know that we've reformed the "Active In" field assignments and that as such, you shouldn't have American bookers and wrestlers take over Mexico and Japan anymore. - The most important of it all: Al Magz is back in the ring in 2005. You see, spending the TEW 2004 year as a promoter, he dug himself in an impossible financial hole. He's also picked up the bottle, a little. But, if you're looking for a loser...pay him, pin him, he'll be happy. Horrible but Happy. And Drunk. Look for him some more in WreSpi 2. - Rumors Al Magz sucked so much he was denied entry into the CornellVerse are absolutely true. Meetings with Tommy Cornell and many many promoters proved unsuccesful in doing what Al considered "moving up the gutter". However, fellow RaveX alumni Alysian Scottsfield (Didn't know that, eh?) has succesfully retained his wrestling license in the CornellVerse. Where he'll once again play the rugged brawler role he so f!!k!!g hates, but hey, pay him and he'll be happy too, I'm sure. - Rumors Of A RaveXVerse Being In The Plans Are Largely Exagerated. After all, who would want to play with characters born out of my poor damn mind?!?!!? And game characters? And TV characters! And wrestling planets! And religious/mythological figures beating the living miracles out of each other! And politicians! And robots, and lots more fun-filled characters!!! Who would want that? You can ask questions I guess. But I can resort to the Chewbacca Defense if I feel legally needed to NOT answer you. |

The anticipation builds... Phil, do you think you guys will release anything at all with the demo release? So we can kinda get the feel for it? Or would you even be able to do anything like that?
Thanks, and big thanks for ALLLLL the work you and Jeff do!! |

Nope, it won't be done for the demo. Although everything was converted, all the rosters, events, champions, etc. were still from June or whenever our last TEW 2004 update was. I'm in the process of updating stuff right now and Phil will finish it off probably over the weekend or very early next week.
The RaveX data will be out for the full game's release. I think everyone can get a feel for the game with the Cornellverse just fine. The purpose of the demo isn't for you to get a good game going. It's to see how the game works before you buy it. |

Congrats with the announcement!
It might be a hobby, but your work on these projects makes a lot of people very happy. Kudos to both of you (and your team). |

A quick question, I was thinking of using your live updates idea for T-zone as it seems effective. However, does it not neglect some of the smaller promotions. A regular monthly or bi-monthly data release allows a scan through recent results and roster pages of promotions to check every promotion is as up to date as possible. With a live update mainly the big news and stories will be updated as it would be very time consuming to release on a wednesday and check all promotions sites then do the same the following day or whatever. Not doing this however could result in a new major player in a promotion not being added to the data until their site is viewed maybe a few weeks later. So the data would be the most up to date data but not the most completely up to date data if you know what i mean. I was just wondering if you found the live method to be the best or not to be honest, curiosity i guess. forlan |

My method for live updates is just to follow each promotion's schedule. When a show date passes, I check the web site for results and make changes/notes accordingly. There really isn't a need to check every promotion's site weekly as most indies only run 1-2 times per month, and some only every couple months.
Good luck with the T-Zone updates. The converter is nice so you don't have to start from scratch but there's tons of work still involved. It took us a little over 3 months to get a playable update together. That's with Phil putting in enough hours for this to be the equivalent of a full-time job without pay. I wish I could have done more but I'm doing 50 hours a week between work and school, plus homework on top of that. Last edited by Jeff Cartwright : 09-28-2005 at 05:59 PM. |

I personally can't wait for the Rave X update. I've been using your updates since PW and (after a little of my own editing) have been a loyal user since.
Will you guys be doing a match file? It doesn't seem like the matches from 2004 will transfer over. Thanks for all that you guys do for these games and good luck with the rest of your work! |

I too am eager to get a game going in TEW 2005 with a fully playable and updated RaveX. Sure, I beta tested but it's not the same. I was playing to find bugs and wasn't really trying to book successful shows. |
