Default Neverending Monday Night Wars HYPE

Are you interested in the what ifs of wrestling history. Now its been done a few times discussing how WCW might have survived if Bischoff had bought them in 2001. However, what if, WCW back in the late 90s pushed more of there young talent, what if Russo never joined WCW? What if they never stumbled like they did and as a result the Monday Night Wars raged on. Young rising stars like Chris Jericho, Eddie Guerrero, Lord Steven Regal,Chris Benoit, Sean O'Haire and Lance Storm to name a few all got better pushes and more screen time.

This is my basic concept for a scenario. I am considering a few different starting years in the early to mid 2000s. I have a lot of ideas for this concept. Any suggestions are welcome.

Maybe the start of 2003?

Say Jarrett gets canned early 2002 for refusing to drop the title to, for arguements sake, Chris Jericho (could be any new up-and-coming star). Furious at the stranglehold of the big two (Vince didnt want him either) him and his dad, with the backing of the NWA, set up TNA, a place for new stars to be born and, of course, for Jeff to hold the title as long as he wants.

In the mean time ECW did fold, but the assets bought by WCW, not WWE. WCW properly capitalised on Tazz & RVD's upside rather than making them seem lame, both in the main event. With the elevation of guys like these two to the main event Hogan & Nash went back to WWE with Jimmy Hart and various other guys, X-Pac, however, went off to TNA....

I should probably stop now

MJS, you're a genius. If that is exactly how this mod turns out, it will be one of the best scenarios ever made.

What about younger guys like Cena/Orton/Lesnar?

Did WWE still use OVW? Did WCW get their own development?

Cool ideas indeed

I am thinking about giving WCW there own developmental fed in this mod. Maybe create a fictitious one for this alternate reality.

I would hope a lot of these guys would still be in OVW or the WWF/E, no reason to put them in WCW, when they've got guys like Bob Sapp, Sean O'Haire, AJ Styles, Mark Jindrak, Christopher Daniels, just give some of those guys stat boosts based on the fact they would have had a couple more years training and/or being pushed.

Post Montreal Screwjob would probably be the best time to start the backstory (IMO), give Sting a clean win, use Bret Hart properly and move on from there. There are so many opportunities with Hart that WCW wasted, in my 1997+ games I like to tease Hart joining the nWo, eventually have him defend Sting, feud with Hogan after Sting is done with him, and then have the two of them fight off and force the nWo to disband in War Games at Fall Brawl, before finally setting up a clash between the two at Starrcade with Hart winning the title. Although I'm starting to go a little off topic, carry on.
