Real World(USA) 1.0 Mod Release

Hello dedicated followers of Wrestling Spirit 2, here is my first release of the Real World Mod. This version is limited to the USA game area and features 9 promotions:

WWE
TNA Wrestling
Ring of Honor
Pro Wrestling Guerilla
Combat Zone Wrestling
Chikara
SHIMMER
NWA: Hollywood
Florida Championship Wrestling

I have gotten the worker count up to 500 for this version and will be adding a lot more in the future. Move-Sets are reasonable, with many having their own sets and others having a more generic one.

Known issues (as this is Wrestling Spirit 2 not TEW 10):

Promotion sizes are a little off, i.e. TNA being global instead of just national, Chikara being regional etc. and this is to stop the mass worker firings on the first turn of the game. This also helps balance the game world out.

WWE ends the brand split immediatly. This problem I have tried to chage around, adding/taking away workers or changing thier brands, but it always occures. I have asked Adam how to fix it but he didn´t remember the exact numbers either. This isn´t so much of a problem as WWE have been a lot more relaxed with the brand split recently themselves and all PPV´s are mixed anyway.

The NXT tv show isn´t included. As there is no way to have 'B' Shows in Wrestling Spirit 2 and WWE already have SuperStars I thought a 4th show would be overkill.

I have spent the last 3 weeks making this mod with all the free time i´ve had and I am going to take a break from mod making for a while. I plan a 2.0 version in the coming months with all the game areas being available, move-sets being increased and move pictures being overhauled.

This mod would not have been possible without the Brawl for All mod by Socko and the D.O.T.T mod by D.Boons Ghost. I have used parts of their mods to build this one and have learned a lot about mod making from the D.O.T.T mod (if you haven´t downloaded it, shame on you :-P)

I was starting to update this a while back, mostly finding new pictures for the moves. I also started on Mexico with AAA. Progress was a bit slow, and I started with a WMMA mod. I will continue with it soon but modern pro wrestling isn't as interesting as it used to be and motivation can be hard. Also, quite interested to see what Rylands next project might be, Wrestling Spirit 3 can we hope

deandean98, you have to do a search on installing MODs.

Over 18,500 views and a few comments? That says a lot about the number of lurkers here and also the hypocritical nature of some members who complained about the lack of WS2 mods.

Then again, it's the same crowd that said CBH was too old after one month.

But I digress...

FIRST, thanks for investing so much time into this mod. I don't care about modern international workers, so no biggie to me. Thank you for actually FINISHING a mod. So many members talk about it, but you DID it.

Now for the review, I did some random things, so my sample size may not be good for playtesting, but here goes:

-Harley Race is set to deceased.
-The Sandman has no personal problems checked.
-For a modern mod, I saw a lot of older guys with high popularity, which I guess is to play exhibition matches or tournaments (the tourny modes are based on overness)? Will they get hired and pushed? I hope not. The Iron Sheik couldn't draw flies in 2012. Neither could Jimmy Snuka.
-The older movesets seem random (Andre the Giant has Sim Snuka's moveset, while Dan Severn has none, so can't be selected).
-I played Andre the Giant vs King Kong Bundy and due to popularity mismatches and weird movesets, Andre killed him in under 10 minutes without a fight and I was using high risk moves. Not something that seemed balanced.
-I played Rey Mysterio vs Mr. Anderson and that was more balanced.
- Only 186 movesets 500 wrestlers. It's more of an issue with how Adam created this game and horrible database structure than you, but DOTT 3.5 had a ratio of around 776/1000 (after filtering out non-wrestlers).

Recommendations

Note sure if you want to invest time in making unique movesets, but it would be a big difference in how people perceive this mod.

Not sure if you should remove the old wrestlers from this mod to make it more balanced, or at least to be truly "modern".

Conclusion

Still seems like a beta version. Will give it a spin to see if I feel better about it (especially in rookie to superstar mode), but it's no DOTT. Eric Baker should have been put on commissions from Greydog. It's inconceivable about how much time he must have invested in the details.

Again, it's a shame Adam isn't a good programmer and doesn't know much about databases, because it takes so long to create something golden.

Thanks for checking out the mod and leaving good feedback :-) I can't believe I set Harley Race to deceased (hangs head in shame) and Sandman should at least have some alcohol problems. D. Boons Ghost should get a medal or at least some sort of legendary status from GDS for his DOTT mod which is unsurpassed in it's greatness and attention to detail. I have been trying to find the motivation to continue updating this but it's lower on my priority list than before and I have less time now. I find the editor very crude and time consuming to use compared to WMMA3's and CBH's and that's before even move sets are considered. The move sets are hard to balance and still make them unique, plus I am hardly watching wrestling nowadays (the last show I watched was a ROH show about two months ago) so I'm not so up to date myself. If anyone else wants to keep updating this mod and make it a community project that would be amazing. I can put a link to my latest updates, move pics on this post later today if anyone is interested.

I DO deserve a medal. I really do.

In all seriousness, the fact that people still enjoy and speak about D.O.T.T. makes all the effort put into it worthwhile. Unlike TEW, which is strong regardless of data fueling it (to a general extent), Wrestling Spirit allowed the data to truly shine and enhance the overall game.

But... as pointed out, a lot of work was required. So much so, in fact, I completely burnt myself out.

I may be wrong, but I am guessing VampiroEl found that out all too quickly and smartly avoided draining himself for a bunch of ingrates*.
