Default Comic Managing Game

Hi everybody.

After my glorious failure of lobbying for a Movie Managing game, I think there is a better chance for a Comic Managing Game. I see it as TEW-WS relation, with CBH being the roleplaying game and the Comic Managing Game as the TEW game.

In the game you will be the Executive Chief of, for example “Wonder Comics”. You will have the property of a certain number of characters and groups. With these properties you have to publish some series. You will also have to hire artists (writers and drawers) as part of your company.

The decisions will focus on how you mix your characters on series, and which artist will you choose to each episode.

I can imagine a screen a-la-TEW where you choose the #56 number of the W-Men. You choose the Artist “Chuck Clearhill” and “Roy Bilefield”. You choose the Main Characters “ Li’l Wolf” and “Cloud”, a bunch of minor characters and “Magnetoscope-Man” as Nemesis.

Also I see decisions about if you give “small/medium/high” freedom to the artists, if it’s a one-shot story or a saga, about the style (comedy, dark…..).

It would be an open game (without objectives), where the success should be on mixing the right characters, artists, and orders.

I see a lot of synergies with the actual games. The mechanics will be TEWesque, but the Universe can be CBHesque.

Also I see a lot of chances of modding, with for example a 60’s mod, an 80’s mod, a “Image Wars Mod”.

In fact I’ve already begun to design a game of this type, but I’m too lazy/dumb to develop something good…, well something acceptable…, welll anything at all.

Your thoughts?

I've thought similar thoughts in the past, but chalked it up to the stationary CBH game as a way to make it evolve.

To be honest, I've always felt that a "TEW" type game with an over-the-top stats would work almost perfectly for a "Comic/Manager" type simulation... using the contract's as if they were contracts for the rights to use "X" character in your storylines.

Rename some of the abilities, throw in a few more, follow that up with doing sort of the same with Promotions, call them Companies, etc.

The thing is, I look over at my WMMA game and can see the same thing, with maybe even more possibilities.

Then I say to myself "Just wait till the next CBH, I'm sure it's going to include all the things I've been hoping for, and the limits will be dropped or at the very least expanded upon (More Attributes allowed, etc.).

I really would like "Class" and "Race" to mean more in the CBH game, with racial "bonus" and class "bonus" etc.
