RSWC 2006 year in review:
RSWC 33 would feature the rise of Florida youngster (and eventual 2006 rookie of the year) Frances Rechsteiner, who made it all the way to the finals of the tournament before losing to Polish standout Irena Kowalska. After a night heavy with submissions, Steph Smith would close the show by forcing Sayoko Ebisawa to tap out to an Americana to remain Queen of Combat. However Irena Kowalska would sign away her right at a chance at the title by joining WEFF. In a controversial move, it was decided that, instead of Rechsteiner getting the title shot, Yuya Shimizu would get the chance she earned but was unable to receive due to injury. The 34th tournament would be won by Hoshie Kojima, who had been beaten in the first round of RSWC 33 by the returning Piper Evergood. In one of the best RSWC bouts of the year, Yuya Shimizu would last three rounds against Steph Smith only to be submitted in the fourth by a textbook armbar. Winner of the 10th TV Tournament, Russian native (and regen) Nimfodora Kral would blaze through three opponents in one night for the second consecutive time in the 35th tournament. After submitting Rachel McGuiness and knocking out Laura Sylvia, she would end up against feared striker Piper Evergood and making her go to sleep from an astounding guillotine choke. Steph Smith would have an eight-round war with Kojima but get a triangle to tap her out. Also on the card, Emma Birch would retire Sayoko Ebisawa (while also facing her own departure from RSWC) in a lackluster ten-round decision. Birch is looking to compete one last time in her homeland before retiring, so this turned out to be a swansong for both parties. The final tournament of the year for RSWC. Frances Rechsteiner would find herself being cut after her complete decimation by veteran Vasya Kaczmarek in the previous tournament. Vaczmarek, meanwhile, would make it to the finals of the tournament only to fall to upcomer (regen) Tamaki Ito. Her fellow countrywoman Kral however would repeat her RSWC 35 performance, putting Steph Smith to sleep via guillotine to not only unseat the most dominant Queen of Combat since Hope Lehane's incredible third run, but also to become Blurcat's 2006 Female Fighter of the Year. The 22-year-old Kral also becomes the first Russian to become Queen of Combat as well. Hoshie Kojima, long criticized by RSWC fans as an egomaniac, would find the company practically holding the door for her as WEFF came knocking after the Japanese fighter asked for an absurd amount of money for her contract renewal. 2007 looks to be yet another exciting year for the Russian company. Despite losing big names, the roster has become leaner and meaner, especially with the signing of "Here Comes Trouble" Debra Everett; Steph Smith right back in the hunt and looking to match Hope Lehane's record of three reigns as Queen of Combat, Pamela O'Neill looking to break her tie with Yuya Shimizu and become a record five-time tournament winner, and perennial fan favorite Vasya Kaczmarek well on the way to an amazing 70 career fights. |

Damn, the game saves thread is just too late. I had a sweet SIGMA game set up in 2001 to share but I just switched to WEFF because of the millions of contracts I had to sign each year as my roster was huge.
![]() Li-'King' Ho almost lost to Manish Khan, LHW division was very interesting, and lots of fighters coming in from the lower leagues (FLB etc), .... I was just about to take over the top spot as a company. Right now at WEFF where it's basically "signing everyone" and just doing your thing. I like the quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Stripped the titles because they were ridiculous, as the AI managed to keep the title floating between 10 fighters in, well, 3 years, with a grand total of 1 succesful title defense. Having just 2 weight classes made me want to start a league-based competition. Still working on the settings. |

In my 23-year game, my 100% High Level International company just went bankrupt, releasing all the greatest fighters in the world to the free market. Calvin Barnes, the G.O.A.T that I built with a record of 35-2, 30 submissions, and 19 total title defenses (1 FW, 1 WW, 12 LW and 5 LW on the second reign), Martin Bodjukyan, a 28-year old Dutch featherweight grappler that was well on his way to stardom, Michael Matravers, the youngest fighter to ever become a champion in a major organization at 22, and countless others are now splitting up into different corners of the world.
I'm dumbfounded. I have no idea how this happened, and what I am going to do now. In a way it could provide me with some fresh challenges, but I'm kind of depressed, I built the company myself, and I built an incredible roster of fighters - the top P4P list was practically all my guys, especially the lower weights. |

Bloch had just won his 2nd weight division title, and i had some nice youngsters i was grooming up... Time for a new project.. See if i can keep KDM FC alive longer than the AI can! |

I just lost my champion to KDMFC...
So I decided that, by signing to another promotion, she forfeits her title to my main tournament winner. Thankfully I have a secondary TV tournament, so that tournament's last winner will be the new #1 contender. Also, High Level Regional Get! Still not at Make An Actual Profit Get though. ![]() |

RSWC 2007 Update
2007 was a very controversial year for RSWC. but started with a great ninth anniversary show, as the 37th tournament went down to eventual 2007 Women's FOTY Laura Sylvia beating veteran Steph Smith and one of the best fights of the year with Tamaki Ito winning the Queen of Combat honors from Nimfodora Kral. RSWC 38 would be another success, and despite the return of the RSWC 1 tournament winner, and first ever Queen of Combat, Tatjana Vinick, the real story would be the spectacular showing by "Born to be Wild" Mary Florian (regen), who emphatically stopped Pamela O'Neill in six rounds with vicious ground and pound, and then choked Ellen Lashley out with a triangle in under three minutes, only for Nimfodora Kral to catch her in an armbar to win the tournament. Meanwhile Laura Sylvia would absolutely demolish Tamaki Ito with a first round TKO to become Queen of Combat. With her form struggling, Pamela O'Neill would win the 15th TV tournament, and after a five-fight losing streak Yuya Shimizu would win her final contracted match with RSWC, the decision to cut her already made. Meanwhile, Mary Florian would make another run to the finals, beating Kaoru Imaizumi by a knockout while ending Vasya Kaczmarek's landmark 70th RSWC fight by guillotine choke, only to get beaten by Tamaki Ito who would choke her out to win the tournament in the 11th round despite the fact that Mary was well on her way to victory. Kral meanwhile would put on a fantastic show, knocking out Laura Sylvia in the second round. However, Kral would leave the company for KDMFC, turning her back on Russia for bigger paydays, and denying RSWC a potential rematch for the ages to close the year. RSWC staff decided that Kral forfeited the title to Tamaki Ito, who would be crowned champion by default, and as the TV Tournament winner, Pamela O'Neill would step in to challenge her. RSWC 40 follows the annual "wildcard draw" format where the entire roster is drawn for the tournaments and not the top eight contenders in the main tournament and second eight in the TV tournament. As such it was an unpredictable affair as dark horse (regen) Arlene Beneteau would win over "Here Comes Trouble" Debra Everett to earn the title shot. Tamaki Ito meanwhile would put on a good show with a third round TKO. Some more names would depart from the company too; Akemi Satou, Steph Smith, and Tatjana Vinick (who lost every single fight she had in her RSWC return). Times are definitely changing as newer faces vie to be the next big star of RSWC. Can Mary Florian finally win one of the main tournaments? Can Pamela O'Neill win one more and break free of her record tie with Yuya Shimizu? Can Vasya Kaczmarek gain one more submission to break her world record tie with fellow RSWC legend Hope Lehane? These questions and more make RSWC's tenth year the most exciting yet. Also, FLAVIAN FAAAAAAAAAAAH! watch for 2007. He's only had one fight though, a loss to Egidjius Fomenka in November. |

Remember that diary I did very briefly and you asked what was up with Bantamweights? It was using Afroduck's mod. He's changed the entire landscape of the Cornellverse and added weight classes up the wazoo. For example, Manoel Cabral is the king of Flyweights in that mod.
It's pretty cool. My only complaint is the lack of the depth on the new divisions, but it's not too bad. When I say lack of depth, I mean in comparison to the existing divisions - it's still deep enough to enjoy. |
