Default Origins

Im hoping that the lovely guys and gals here might be able to help me out on something.

Im trying to work out a kick-ass origin for my character but im struggling a little. Im looking for something somewhat realistic but not overdone. So more Spiderman than Superman.

What im actually hoping is for origin ideas and appropriate powers that would work alongside it.

Any ideas?

I don't have my copy of the game at hand, so I can't check on this for a bit for comparison purposes.

For starters, how about something along the lines of a Native American shaman? I know it's similar in nature to the "elemental" origin but with different wording and a note on summoning nature's spirits (wolves/coyotes, eagles, and the like). Perhaps have traits along those lines as well--tracking, sharp vision, heightened smell come to mind.

If you need special attacks, I'd focus on nature-based ones, as the shaman willing nature to help him defend his tribe/other group of interest. Grass and trees tangle a foe temporarily (treat as physical stun since there's no "nature" element), call down lightning to strike his foes (electrical ranged piercing), and so on. Maybe one of those added to a physical attack either with weapon (bow or tomahawk) or with body (a leaping attack that emulates a soaring eagle).

I'll try to think of a few more while at work that aren't too outlandish.

How about dormant powers triggered by a dose of adrenaline when your heart suddenly stops or something?

Thanks for the replies.

I like the shaman one but it wouldn't quite fit the city Im placing him in.

The heart stop idea could work.

I think we need some backstory on your superhero. Superpowers, nationality, race, things like that.

Not completely original, but here goes:

Victim of a scientific experiment gone awry. Basically the hero is either subjected to whatever icky chemicals you like OR he/she is a willing participant in a pool of lab tests. The new drug is "supposed" to help swimmers perform better - perhaps the armed forces of the USA or some other country is experimenting with. Something triggers his/her DNA and produces the following super-frog-related powers:

- Larger than normal upper and lower leg muscles, while the torso/arms remain normal. Not so large they look completely creepy, but noticeable. Or make them big around as tree trunks. Be creative.
- Ability to run/sprint quickly, change direction on a dime.
- Ability to leap 10x the height of normal humans.
- Slightly heightened endurance, not so much on strength (except legs), although you can do whatever.
- Ability to hold breath considerably longer than any human alive.

Super Frogger is born!

A little more background = maybe, just maybe, the hero has an uncle that works for the city police (could be beat patrol) so often the uncle gets asked for information that might cause undue hardship on his employment (if he is caught or suspected). Storylines abound.

Good luck to whatever you do!
