Jaguar de Oro (Golden Jaguar) is the new mask for Roman Santamaria.
Mask should be jaguar print with gold trim. Can be with or without jaguar ears on the mask. Mostly a Techinco.

Zopilote (Buzzard) is the new mask for Joel Verdugo. It is a complete departure from his previous gimmick, As Zopilote Verdugo picks the bone(gets the pin) of downed opponents (after they have already been attacked by someone else).
Mask should have a buzzard beak for the nose and mouth (Yellow part I drew on the mask). Rudo.

I know I've already told you as much over PM jhd, but this is a brilliant idea for a competition.

Some great entries already.

Ilustración: (Enlightenment) is the new character of Joel Verdugo and is an evolution of /a pun on his former Resplandor (Shining/Brilliance) character. While the Resplandor character was simply concerned with wow'ing the crowd, Ilustración wants to open their minds and "unlock their third eye" to the brilliance of his teachings. These teachings are basically excuses for him to cheat on the technicos without feeling guilt.

The masks is a heavy throwback to the Maestro (teacher) characters that often appear in Lucha Libre, where a rudo will claim to be more intelligent that the crowd and talk down to them arrogantly.

The mask itself is purple, the regal colour and associated is with the wealthy and therefore distances itself from the common man. The trim is gold. Above the eyes are two bands of gold, representing a crown, with a floral centrepiece representing the "third eye".

Thanks Sebs!

Stunning work, Celt, I hope you'll be doing the other three characters too with a submission of that quality!

Just now got around to downloading the mod, and I'm really, really enjoying it. Started a game with SWA as that's my style of promotion, but then I decided to run a Road to Glory. Two things I love most about it:

1. The renders. You know as much as I've made requests from you that I love your style, and it really comes together with every worker rendered like that.

2. The world grows as you go along. There's not many flat out amazing Tommy Cornells here, and I assume that's because the universe is in a lull to start out. That said, there's a ton of mid level talent available to pick up that are extremely good for the pay, and they develop quite nicely with the rest of the universe as promotions become national.

Also, I downloaded martino's (?) skin to go along with this, and they look like they were co-developed. Really makes it feel like an entirely new game!

Omar Buentello is a luchadore looking for a new mask to match his shift towards a more violent style of wrestling. He has had the mask for him, and now must decide between two characters he could for it.

El Onza: In Mexican folklore, there is much talk of cougar like creature that exists, but this has never been proved, and it is named the Onza. The Onza is vicious creature that eats deers, but has been known in rural areas to eat dogs, mules and even to attack and kill men.

Rural Mexicans speak with fear of this creature, so it's no wonder the creature appealed to the taste of Omer Buentello, a luchadore looking for a new character to portray. The vicious and brutal nature of the beast is a suitable reflection of his wrestling style.

(The Onza is actually a real deal in Mexican folklore: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Onza)

Anubis: In Egyptian mythology, Anubis is a God of death, who is portrayed as half human, half jackal. In lucha libre, Anubis is the character portrayed by Omar Buentello. The character is a throw back to the last one he portrayed, that of Black Shaman, however this one has more an over the top and glitzy edge to it, as the Black Shaman mask was a very basic one that didn't capture the imagination of the audience. With it's mythology basis origin, black and gold design and vicious character to it, the Anubis character is proving far more of a money maker for Buentello.

The mask I got from deviantart, I just made some slight alterations to it because it had a steampunk edge of it that would have been out of place in luchalibre.

I WAS going to make an entry but, that, that Celt is beautiful. I throw all my (nonexistent) support behind that mask.

You still should

I agree though, another strong entry from Celt! This is going to be a tough decision!

I feel the same way about the Ilustracion mask. Had a few ideas for Verdugo, but I like Celt's way better than any I came up with.

Guys, you should totally post your own masks, because the aim of the competition is less about who can come out with the prettiest mask, more who can give jhd the best outline for a mask that'll he'll render. For example, I think the Banished Thunder and Tabu masks are fantastic masks/characters, and serve as a great outline for something that jhd can render himself.

So yeah, don't hold on my account. It's about the best idea for a mask rather than the best mask in itself.

Here's one more submission.

Quote:
4. Emilio Montejo
FORMERLY KNOWN AS: EMILIO MONTEJO
KEYWORDS: HEAVYWEIGHT, ENTERTAINER, WWWE

Heavyweight wrestler Emilio Montejo is actually the son of former WWWE wrestler Rafael Montejo, a decent midcarder who spent his entire career in the United States. A colourful character backstage, Montejo is well-liked and very charismatic but has never really made an impact on the lucha scene under his own name.

Hat and Mask combination along the same lines as As Guerrero.

El Leprechaun

Emilio Montejo is a rare heavyweight in the world of Lucha, but unlike most big men Montejo isn't a brute or a monster. Instead Montejo has adopted the character of El Leprechaun, who claims to be one of the small mythical Irish Creatures of the same name despite standing over six feet tall and having never set foot in Europe. As a proof of his claims El Leprechaun speaks in what can only be considered a terrible Irish accent at all times and tries to sprinkle in Irish Phrases into his promos, though he frequently mixes up his words.

The gimmick is a bizzare one, but Montejo's natural charisma and jovial attitude can generally get a chuckle out of all but the most cynical lucha fan. He can do a decent job playing a comedy rudo, but his natural charisma and humor make him a natural Tecnico.

And before I forget it; don't even think of stealing his pot of gold.

1. Omar Buentello
FORMERLY KNOWN AS: CHAMAN NEGRO (Black Shaman)
KEYWORDS: CULT, HARDCORE, TATTOOS
A huge fan of the American hardcore wrestling style, the heavily Buentello is a more violent character than most luchadors of today. Was controversially unmasked as the Black Shaman during a recent hardcore match that saw his opponent deliberately remove the mask against the booker's orders.
Character: Maskara por Sangre, Mascara de Sangre or whatever name that has or involves 'blood' and 'mask' (the lower design). He started out with a pure white mask w/crimson trim. The blood spots are not of his own but the blood of his opponents since becoming The Mask of Blood. Based off of Samoa Joe's blood towel.

Character: El Enigmatico the red design. The open jaw mask gives allows him to cut his awesome promos and the gold tassels on top gives him some flare as he works around the ring.

My thoughts exactly, thanks Celt!

Thanks also to Tiberious and K4BOSH (who I nearly welcomed to the forum until I realised that you'd been here longer than me!), another set of excellent ideas
