Default CWL Presents: Halloween Throwdown

Halloween Throwdown
Saturday Week 4, October 2021
Live at the Lowe Ballroom [North West, USA]
Available on the Synergy Network & Southern States TV
In Attendance: 4,733
Rating: .20 [156,580 viewers]
Commentators: Michaels Riggs, Ricky Dale Johnson, Duke Hazard

MR: Hello and welcome to Halloween Throwdown! What a show we have lined up for you tonight. Alicia Strong challenges Jaime Quine for the North American Women’s Championship. Spencer Spade challenges for the North American Heavyweight Championship and so much more. I couldn’t be more excited for the action that’s coming to us.

RDJ: James Diaz has his work cut out for him. While he holds a significant size advantage over Spade, Spencer Spade is a very accomplished wrestler. He was very successful on the East Coast and definitely is a very dangerous opponent.

DH: And he’s got the manager of champions with him! What a get for Bowen Services. You lose Brandon James but you gain Spencer Spade? Bowen Services just keeps getting better!

Opening Match
Six Man Scramble
Twenty-Five Minute Time Limit
Number One Contender to United States Championship
vs vs. vs. vs. vs. w/
Island Boy Apollo versus Raheem Stash versus Rocky Weatherfield versus The Architect versus Jonah Pilgrim versus Andrew Harper w/ Lisa Bowen

This really was a standard affair. Not an elimination six man match, this match mostly featured each wrestler trying to impress in short spurts. Each man had a moment where they looked like they were going to take it, but the Lisa Bowen led Andrew Harper managed to catch Raheem Stash with a Spike Slam and get a pinfall while the other four men were down from other big moves they had each done to one another.

Andrew Harper defeated Jonah Pilgrim, Rocky Weatherfield, The Architect, Raheem Stash and Island Boy Apollo in 9:32 when Andrew Harper defeated Raheem Stash by pinfall with a Spike Slam.

vs.
MR: I just received word that next week on Saturday Night Slammasters -- not the episode immediately following tonight’s broadcast -- but next week’s episode, KC Glenn will go one on one with Jeffery Aroma.

Special Attraction
Singles Match
Thirty Minute Time Limit

vs.
"High Flyin' Hawaiian" James Adams versus Mokuami Maita (c)

Maita, a representative of PGHW won the Junior Heavyweight Championship in September and has been defending it ever since. He was looking for his sixth title defense here against former PGHW-touring act, James Adams. The high flying Hawaiian wrestler looked excellent early on and really got the crowd out of their seat. James Adams has really developed into a premier junior heavyweight worker and a lot of the internet fans have recently said they expect him to have a break out Fall and Winter of 2021 and should be poised to have a huge 2022.

Maita, the more experienced of the two, countered a tornado DDT and hit an Assassination Attempt -- Canadian Destroyer -- for the three count and the victory.

Mokuami Maita defeated James Adams in 11:15 by pinfall with an Assassination Attempt. Mokuami Maita makes defence number 6 of his GWC World Junior Heavyweight title.

The lights go out. When they come back on, Father Grim stands alone in the ring. A microphone in his hand.

“Brothers and sisters. I stand before you today as a man charged with making a decision. A few weeks ago, a challenge was levied by the Keith brothers. Two men blinded by rage and hatred. Two men who, like The Fallen, have been lied to. Two men who should have received contracts from the biggest organizations in the world. Who should be following in their father’s footsteps but instead have had to grind out a name for themselves. These two men take umbrage with the words I speak and the actions of my Fallen. They want an opportunity. I shall grant them one. Next month at Thanksgiving Thunder. They shall meet Scythe… They shall meet Hellion.. And they shall Fall.”

Triple Threat Tag Team Match
Thirty Minute Time Limit

vs. vs. w/
The Southern Stars versus Puder & Yoder versus The Devil's Rejects (c) w/ February Malaise

This was a triple threat elimination tag team match -- the way a triple threat tag match is *supposed* to be done, none of this one fall, winner takes all B.S. as done by the Eisens and Packers of the world. Six men, three teams of two, last one standing. The near-capacity crowd of the Lowe Ballroom was treated to a very hard hitting contest. Six men who are all brawlers. The Southern Stars came out early and were very impressive. It was the Stars and Yoder/Puder exchanging blows early on. Holly made a surprise tag and came in and caught Harker with the Reaper Break to eliminate the Southern Stars.

Now it was down to Yoder/Puder and the Rejects. They went back and forth for some time before Johnny Anderson ate a Patriot Slam and Clyde Puder and Jakob Yoder became the new North American Tag Team Champions.

Jakob Yoder and Clyde Puder defeated The Devil's Rejects and The Southern Stars in 16:06; the order of elimination was The Southern Stars first, and then The Devil's Rejects. Jakob Yoder and Clyde Puder win the CWL North American Tag Team titles.

Singles Match
Thirty Minute Time Limit

vs.
Alicia Strong versus Jaime Quine (c)

The first of two big in ring debuts on Halloween Throwdown. Alicia Strong. The former building block of the USPW Women’s Division. The daughter of the most famous wrestler of all time. She considered herself to be the only real female star in wrestling. Jaime Quine, her opponent, was the younger step-sister of legendary female wrestler Catherine Quine. A woman who came up in the AAA system.

Both women went at it in a breakneck pace. Quine was wrestling to prove that she was at Alicia’s level. Alicia was wrestling to prove the opposite. To prove that she is the best women’s wrestler on the planet. Strong dominated most of the match. Quine kept fighting back, but Alicia had her way with her. She set her up for the Strong Arm [Rainmaker Lariat], but Quine ducked under the clothesline and rolled Alicia Strong up for the surprise victory.

Jaime Quine defeated Alicia Strong in 15:18 by pinfall with a fast roll up. Jaime Quine makes defence number 1 of her CWL North American Women's title.

Singles Match
Thirty Minute Time Limit

w/ vs.
Cameron Vessey w/ Lisa Bowen versus "The Canadian Wrestling Machine" David Stone (c)

Last month, Cameron Vessey and David Stone went to a twenty minute draw in a thrilling contest that showcased each’s wrestling prowess. Tonight they had ten extra minutes. Thirty minutes to get the job done. They did not wrestle at quite the pace they had wrestled at before. They knew that each one of them could really wrestle and tonight they were trying to prove they were the better wrestler.

About fifteen minutes in, Stone locked in the Stone Ankle Stretch and Vessey screamed in agony. If it had not been for the ring placement and Lisa Bowen pushing the bottom rope closer to Cameron (and getting admonished for it) he might have had to give it up, but alas he did not.

Stone tried to immediately pounce, but Cameron dumped him out of the ring and bought himself some time. Stone tried for some sort of diving move but Cameron caught him on his shoulders and hit a Vessey Driver II [Death Valley Driver] but the pain in his ankle prevented him from making an immediate cover.

Stone was able to kick out and the crowd came out of their seats We passed twenty minutes. We passed twenty five minutes. We got into the last minute and the ring announcer announced there was only a minute left. Both wrestlers seemed to kick it into high gear. Vessey went for another Vessey Driver II, but Stone slipped off. Stone hit a big release German Suplex and immediately grabbed the Stone Ankle Stretch. We were under thirty seconds now.

The crowd egged Vessey on to tap, but Vessey screamed in pain. Lisa begged him not to tap. To not give it up. Stone growled as he tightened the grip and Vessey’s fingers clutched the canvas. We were under ten seconds now. Vessey released the canvas and raised his hand. It hovered above the mat. Five. He looked like he was going to slap the mat. Four. He pulled his hand back. Three. His hand returned to just above the mat. Two. He raised his hand high. One. He didn’t tap. Zero. The bell rang. It was a draw. Vessey’s hand collapsed to the mat as Stone released his ankle.

Twice now they had wrestled for the United States Championship. The first time, Vessey almost had Stone beat, but the time ran out. This time, Stone almost had Vessey beat and time ran out. Both men laid on the mat. Covered in sweat.

Cameron Vessey drew with David Stone in 30:00 when the time limit expired.

Paul Huntingdon, Monty Trescarde and Carl DiBiase cut a promo hyping their upcoming six man match with Ross Henry, Matty Faith and Ranger.

Semi Main Event
Six Man Tag Team Match
Forty Five Minute Time Limit
vs.
Ross Henry & The Mission versus Money Talks

Henry and The Mission had all been wronged by Money Talks. Huntingdon had stolen a victory from Ross, had cost him the World’s Title. The Fat Cats had stolen the World Tag Team titles from the Mission. World Tag Team Titles the Fat Cats proudly displayed on their walk to the ring. While Carl DiBiase was still a rookie, his pairing with Monty Trescarde had turned out to be very successful with the veteran leading the duo to a lot of early success.

It was clear from the get go that Henry and The Mission were angry and Money Talks was working better as a team. While Faith and Ranger have plenty of experience, and success, as a team, Ross had primarily been a singles wrestler and looked slightly out of his element in the six man tag. As if he didn’t quite know when he should go for the tag to rely on his partners. This caused Henry to really get a beating from the Money Talks trio.

Eventually Henry did make the tag to Matty Faith who came in like a ball of fire. The match broke down from there. All six men brawling. Huntingdon and Trescarde ended up dumped on the outside and Carl DiBiase took a Leap of Faith from Matty Faith, a big boot from Ranger and finally an Earthquake Powerslam from Ross Henry who made the cover and got the victory.

Ross Henry and The Mission defeated Money Talks (Paul Huntingdon, Monty Trescarde and Carl DiBiase) in 18:05 when Ross Henry defeated Carl DiBiase by pinfall with an Earthquake Powerslam.

Main Event
Singles Match
Sixty Minute Time Limit

w/ vs.
"The Supreme Star" Spencer Spade w/ Lisa Bowen versus "The Return of the Monster" James Diaz (c)

This was James Diaz’ first defense of the North American Heavyweight Championship an it was the Supreme Star’s first match in CWL. Diaz came out of the gate looking to end it early, but Spade played the role of the weasel. He kept rolling out of the ring to keep Diaz from getting his hands on him. The crowd really hated this.

Spade used an eye poke to take control early, but the match was very awkward. It was pretty clear from the get go that despite how talented both of these wrestlers were individually, they just didn’t seem to click. Several of the moments looked forced or rushed. Diaz had Spade set up for the Death by Diaz when Lisa Bowen rolled in the ring and hit him with a low blow. Darren Smith had no choice but to disqualify Spade, giving Diaz the title retention

James Diaz defeated Spencer Spade in 16:25 by disqualification. James Diaz makes defence number 1 of his CWL North American Heavyweight title.

MR: Hello and welcome to another exciting and thrill packed episode of Saturday Night Slammasters. In our main event tonight, The New Wave will look to get a big tag team victory over Des Davids and Mighty Cavanagh -- whom they have had problems with recently.

RDJ: I said it last time these two teams met, I think New Wave is going to take it. They are the better, more experienced team.

For immediate release to the press.

DENVER, CO -Continental Wrestling League, LLC. and Burning Hammer of the Wrestling Gods, INC. have come to terms, effective Monday, November 1, 2021 for Continental Wrestling League to assume the debts of Burning Hammer of the Wrestling Gods in the amount of $100,000 or ¥11,191,500.00. With the purchase, Continental Wrestling League will receive fifty-five years worth of tape library and the contracts to Burning Hammer of the Wrestling Gods talents Logan Wolfsbaine, Ray Diaz, Charger Siaki, Nigel Svenson, and Pavel Vanzycha.

I'm sorry, what?

You did not just buy BHOTWG for 100K. You also didn't poo-poo literally every native wrestler they have.

I did. They were 100K in debt. . They had the tsunami and then a 25 million dollar embezzlement scandal, plus they purchased GCG and BCG, so they had been in debt a little while and had firmly fallen behind PGHW and WLW in Japan. The wrestling business and economy in Japan over the last year has been going down [it's been doing the same in America too].

I couldn't financially afford to take on their whole roster or even parts of their roster -- it wasn't a poo poo as much as financial necessity, The native talent they had they I wanted had deals that were far too big for me to be able to justify. They wouldn't have the popularity in the United States and they were all well over $20,000 a month -- some over $30,000 and I wasn't going to pay that! The less expensive native talent I let stay with the purposeful hope that it will help the Japanese wrestling scene. WLW, Exo2010, PGHW, and WEXXV are all alive and kicking so I'm hoping that the influx of available talent will help bolster their rosters (and hopefully encourage the game to start a new company) that can benefit from the talent now available.

MR: Hello and welcome to another exciting and thrill packed episode of Saturday Night Slammasters. Tonight, a big six-woman tag with major implications for Thanksgiving Thunder. Also, KC Glenn takes on Jeffery Aroma in our main event. You do not want to miss a second of this action.

RDJ: KC has a mighty task in front of him. Jeffery Aroma, the Headhunter, is significantly larger and is so imposing that we have not seen Riley McManus in two full months since Aroma put him on the shelf.

DH: And tonight Aroma will put Glenn on the shelf. He’s going to rid us of them once and for all!

Opening Match
Six Woman Tag Match
Twenty Minute Time Limit

Jaime Quine, Amber Allen & Suzanne Brazzle versus Alicia Strong, Missy Masterson, & Tiffany Jade

In a bout that had good wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Alicia Strong, Missy Masterson and Tiffany Jade defeated Amber Allen, Jaime Quine and Suzanne Brazzle in 10:20 when Alicia Strong defeated Suzanne Brazzle by pinfall with an Angel Driver.

In terms of in-ring work, Jaime Quine was head and shoulders above everyone else. Suzanne Brazzle was the weak link, struggling to keep up with everyone else's in-ring performance.

After pinning Suzanne Brazzle, Alicia Strong took a microphone.

AS: Jaime… At Halloween Throwdown you got lucky. But at Thanksgiving Thunder, you’re not going to be so lucky! ‘Cause it’s going to be me and you, one more time!

Singles Match

And these punks. Yeah I said it. These punks, Alexander Vasquez, Othello Morris, and Leon Pena think they can stand with us, but they about to not be able to stand at all. ‘Cause these boys are ready to get violent up in this mug.

MR: Hello and welcome to another exciting and thrill packed episode of Saturday Night Slammasters! We have a blockbuster line up. The United States Championship is on the line. Brandon Smith and Deever Arnold will go one on one, plus we’re scheduled to hear from Spencer Spade and Ross Henry!

RDJ: David Stone is going one on one with Andrew Harper. Another one of Lisa Bowen’s thugs. Another guy who is trying to take the championship he has had a death grip on since he defeated Scythe for it.

DH: He’s a paper champion. It should be Cameron Vessey’s. If it wasn’t for the time limit at the Last Hard Men, he’d be champion!

RDJ: But if it wasn’t for the time limit at Halloween Throwdown, he would have tapped out.

DH: But he wouldn’t have been in that position had he not been cheated a month earlier!

MR: We are joined now by Ross Henry. Ross, I hear you have some words regarding Paul Huntingdon.

RH: That’s right Michael, I do. At Halloween Throwdown, The Mission and I were successful in beating Money Talks. That means I get my hands on Paul Huntingdon. Just me and him. Thanksgiving Thunder. One on one in that ring. Paul, you can’t hide behind anyone. You’re gonna have to deal with me and brother, I’m as motivated as I’ve ever been to give someone a whoopin’. So I hope you’re ready… Start training. Do whatever you’ve got to do. ‘Cause I’m coming for you.

Alexander Vasquez, Othello Morris & Leon Pena versus Gangsta Nation © w/ Brother G

In a bout that had decent wrestling but non-existent crowd heat, Gangsta Nation (Cali Slick, Sayeed Ali and Hustle Muvva) defeated Alexander Vasquez, Othello Morris and Leon Pena in 11:44 when Cali Slick defeated Othello Morris by pinfall with a Slick-Back after Brother G interfered. Cali Slick, Sayeed Ali and Hustle Muvva make defence number 2 of their GWC World Six Man titles.

Othello Morris was the weak link, struggling to keep up with everyone else's in-ring performance.

We go backstage to where Spencer Spade is sitting in a chair.

MR: Thank you for joining us Mr. Spade. At Halloween Throwdown, you made your in ring debut and failed to defeated James Diaz for the North American Heavyweight Championship. What are you going to do now?

SS: Failed? I didn’t fail. I gave James Diaz a way out. I gave him the opportunity to save face. See, I was moments away from reversing his Death by Diaz and hitting him with the Supreme Stunner and ending his reign before he even had one successful title defense, but I didn’t want to do that to the kid. I wanted to give him the opportunity to really build a little momentum behind his championship reign before I take the belt from him. But rest assured, the North American Heavyweight Championship will be mine.
