Slick won gold. And he did so by being the one to defeat David Stone. All is right in the world.

Available on the Synergy Network, Southern States TV, & Hawaii 50
Week 2, June 2022.
Filmed at: The Junkyard [Mid West, USA]
In Attendance: 1,000 [SELL OUT]
Rating: .40 [304,100 viewers]
Commentators: Michaels Riggs, Ricky Dale Johnson, Duke Hazard

MR: Hello and welcome to another exciting and thrill packed edition of Saturday Night Slammasters. We are coming to you from the Junkyard with another capacity crowd. The CWL is just growing more and more popular. Tonight Logan Diaz will go one on one with Whitehorse Whitaker and in our main event, two of the top junior heavyweights in the world, KC Glenn and Storm Spillane will battle in what is sure to be a thrilling contest.

RDJ: I’ve also heard that Matty Faith is here and has some words for Spencer Spade and Ash Campbell.

DH: Hopefully those words are “I’m sorry for ever getting in your way.”

Quote:

The crowd goes wild when Ross Henry walks out onto the stage. They haven’t seen Ross Henry since Wrestling Summit VII when he broke his arm against Killer Shark. The former standout football player looked around at the crowd and was all smiles. He walked to the ring and took a microphone.

RH: It’s been far too long. What, three months? That’s far too long. But I am back. I’m back with a mission. I want to become North American Heavyweight Champion. I pride myself on being an elite athlete. I want to be champion. So I’m going to be. Spencer Spade… I’m putting you on notice. I’m coming for you and the championship.

As Ross Henry is talking, Cameron Vessey walks onto the stage.

CV: Ross. That’s big talk. It is. Really big talk. I’ll admit that you’re an incredible athlete. The kind of athlete most promoters dream of finding. You’re the kind of athlete I grew up hearing my father and uncle talk about. I understand that you want to be the top dog here. I can’t blame you… But the road to the top goes through me. Spencer Spade is a great champion and a great friend. You want to get to him, you have to get through me -- and I promise you Ross… I’m not an easy man to defeat. You’re a great athlete. You’ve become a good wrestler, but this business is in my blood. You had to learn this sport, but it comes natural to me. The things you’ve had to practice, I just know. There’s nothing you can do that I can’t do, there’s nothing you can do that I can’t survive. You want Spencer, you gotta beat me -- what do you say big man?

RH: You’re on.

Opening Match
Singles Match
Fifteen Minute Time Limit

Suzanne Brazzle versus Tiffany Jade

In a bout that had a decent reaction from the crowd but sub-par wrestling, Tiffany Jade defeated Suzanne Brazzle in 9:08 by submission.

Singles Match
Fifteen Minute Time Limit

Riley McManus versus Charger Siaki

In a bout that had decent wrestling but little heat, Riley McManus defeated Charger Siaki in 9:50 by pinfall with a Slingshot Suplex.

Quote:

MF: It’s my fault. I should have listened. The week leading up to Fire on the Mountain everyone told me. Don’t trust Spencer Spade to fight clean, Matty. Don’t trust him to wrestle you one on one. But I didn’t listen. I thought Spencer Spade wanted to be a man. I thought he wanted to fight me like a man. But I was wrong. He had something up his sleeve. He and that she devil Lisa Bowen had an ace in the whole, they had Ash Campbell. I should’ve known. Ash… His daddy wrestled my daddy. Old family blood there. When his daddy couldn’t hack it and had to hack his own body like a lunatic he blamed my father. Said it was the fault of my father. I should have known. But I didn’t. So I got my face caved in by a pair of brass knuckles. This pretty face of mine. I found myself in the airport, trying to catch a flight back to Texas to see my long time doctor and every person I passed in the airport said “Champ, how could you let that happen?” Or “Champ, you should’ve known.” Or “Champ, you gotta get yourself together and get some revenge. You can’t hardly see. You’re stumbling around. C’mon baby.” And I knew then what I had to do. I called the big man. That’s right, this big man next to me. The six foot ten inch ass kicking son of a bitch known as Ranger. I told him we got a job. We have a Mission. He said Matty...Whatever you need I’m there. We’re blood brothers. We’re in this together. So I told him that at Summer Spectacular. At the Lowe Ballroom. We’re going to get even. At Summer Spectacular, we’re going to take Ash Campbell and Spencer Spade out to the woodshed. At Summer Spectacular we are going to teach Ash and Spencer…

R: That payback….payback is hell.

Quote:

MR: We can officially announce that at Summer Spectacular, Gangsta Nation will challenge for the North American Tag Team Championship one more time -- this time in a no disqualification match up. The Keith Brothers demanded this match and CWL management has decided to give it to them.

Singles Match
Fifteen Minute Time Limit

“Glorious” Logan Diaz versus Whitehorse Whittaker

In a bout that had decent wrestling but little heat, Logan Diaz defeated Whitehorse Whittaker in 9:40 by pinfall with a Belly To Belly Suplex.

Quote:

Money Talks are all standing in front of the CWL backdrop.

PH: You know what we are sick of? The Stone Family. Hell, families in general. We are tired of them. Tired of the nepotism. Why was David Stone given so many opportunities? Because of nepotism. We have the money. The means. The opportunities should have come to us, but they didn’t. So now, we made sure they will. David Stone, how does it feel to no longer be United States Champion? How does it feel to find out that despite all your family connections -- a little bit of money is all it took to get you out of the picture. I don’t know Cali Slick. He and I aren’t friends. But he gladly accepted the money to wrestle you and make sure that you didn’t walk out as Champion. He gladly participated in the scheme. Next stop, rid CWL of The Stone Family for good.

Main Event
Twenty Minute Time Limit

KC Glenn versus Storm Spillane

In a bout that had good wrestling but didn't have much heat, Storm Spillane defeated KC Glenn in 15:23 by submission with a Kneeling Boston Crab after a distraction from Keith Holly.

He did! He broke the record setting reign. David Stone now has most total defenses and most single reign defenses of the United States (and I think any) championship in the CWL with his eighteen defenses of the United States championship across two reigns.

I really like Cali Slick. He's been uber consistent. He's very good in the locker room. He's got a grit about him that I like. While he cut his teeth in the hardcore world, I always imagined that he could be a high caliber brawler. Kind of like a Mick Foley type.

Yeah, it was totally unexpected to see Slick beat Stone, but also kind of cool. It's a good move for both of them as Stone is now free to pursue other storylines and maybe work his way into the main event scene.

The Stones are pretty much down to David and Lucy (and maybe the odd guest appearance by Edd) now. Are the Fat Cats going to recruit a female worker to get Lucy involved in the family feud?

Side question: Is Suzanne Brazzle in serious time decline? She's been involved in a lot of weak matches lately.

She is in serious, serious time decline and actually announced her retirement. She's going to be getting a narrative here soon because of it. She's such a good hand from a mentality stand point, but she really dove off the cliff. Right now she's in 'put young talent over so they get some of my popularity' mode before she hangs up the boots.

Slick winning caught me off guard but I loved it.

Also, big win for Storm Spillane there against KC Glenn. I'm liking these upsets.

MR: Hello and welcome to another exciting and thrill packed edition of Saturday Night Slammasters. We are coming to you from the Irvine Hall in Kansas with the last edition of Saturday Night Slammasters before Summer Spectacular. We already know that our main event will pit Spencer Spade and Ash Campbell against The Mission. We know that The Keith Brothers will defend the North American Tag Team Championship against Gangsta Nation in a No Disqualification Match. Announced earlier today on ContinentalWrestlingLeague.com, The Georgia Bulldogs and The Devil’s Rejects will do battle once again, Cali Slick will defend the United States Championship against Brandon Smith and Jaime Quine will attempt to defend the North American Women’s Championship against Tiffany Jade.

RDJ: And who can forget Ross Henry and Cameron Vessey? Summer Spectacular is definitely shaping up to be one hell of a night of professional wrestling.

DH: It certainly is. I can’t wait to get there, but we’ve got a big show tonight! Greg Keith and Xavi Ferrera will fight it out in our main event. Could it be a big mistake for Greg Keith to wrestle someone as talented as Xavi Ferrera just a week away from the big tag team title match?

Quote:

MR: We can officially announce that at Summer Spectacular, for the first time ever the Japanese wrestling legend, six time Burning Hammer of the Wrestling Gods Heavyweight Champion, Taiyuki Kikkawa will compete on American soil as he wrestles The Monster Raymond Diaz, a legend in Japanese professional wrestling in his own right. This will be the first, and only time these two legends of the sport go at it and CWL gets the honor of presenting this contest.
Opening Match
Singles Match

Leon Pena versus Howlin’ Mad Mort

In a bout that had decent wrestling but little heat, Leon Pena defeated Howlin' Mad Mort in 7:32 by pinfall with an Easy Palm Strike.

Quote:

DS: I never thought I’d be at the point where I was truly fed up with someone in this business. I was naive. I thought my belief in hard work, in wrestling as a sport, was enough. Money Talks has shown me differently. It is not enough that they cost me the United States Championship. They put their hands on my father. My father. A man who has given his all to this business. A man who taught me everything I know about this business. And you bragged about it. You boasted about it. So I went to Hailey Hunter and the management committee. I demanded an opportunity and it was granted. So at Summer Spectacular, for the first and only time, Father and Son team up. Dan and David Stone against The Fat Cats. That’s right Paul, you can watch as me and my dad make incredibly short work of your boys. You won’t be smiling after that.
Singles Match
Fifteen Minute Time Limit

Suzanne Brazzle versus Missy Masterson

In a decent match, Missy Masterson defeated Suzanne Brazzle in 9:03 by pinfall with an Identity Crisis.

Singles Match
Fifteen Minute time Limit

Jimmy Stratosphere versus Marvel Malloy

In a bout that had decent wrestling but little heat, Marvel Malloy defeated Jimmy Stratosphere in 8:22 by pinfall with a Marvel Breaker.

Singles Match
Fifteen Minute Time Limit

“The Mennonite Mammoth” Jakob Yoder versus Giant Brody

In a bout that had decent wrestling but didn't have much heat, Jakob Yoder defeated Giant Brody in 13:02 when Giant Brody was disqualified when Scythe ran in and attacked Jakob Yoder.
Yoder and Brody don’t seem to click.

Quote:

FG: We have sent messages to the Homegrown. We have left them laying and it was all to get to this moment. The Day of Reckoning. The day of revealing. At Summer Spectacular, Homegrown will team with that simple minded cousin of Clyde -- Danny -- to face Scythe and Hellion and the new monster. The new terror. A man who has been used up by the system. A man who was lied to. A man who believed that money could buy everything. A man who was told he was supposed to be a killer. A predator, but they tried to take away his bite. I am giving him that bite back. No longer shall he be a misguided man of potential. Now he becomes the Torment.

And with The Nightmare and American Hellspawn -- The Reckoning is here. He had Fallen, but in our collective he will rise once more and you will all bear witness to his the exorcism of the demons that have plagued his mind.

Main Event
Singles Match
Twenty Minute Time Limit

Greg Keith versus “The Puerto Rican Wrestling Machine” Xavi Ferrera

In a bout that had good wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Greg Keith defeated Xavi Ferrera in 9:25 by pinfall.

I'm glad! The plan since David won the title back in February was to get to the point where he could drop it to Cali. I was hoping that doing it on TV would catch people off guard. I look at the United States Championship as a cross between a television title and the old Mid Atlantic US title. It can be defended and change hands on television -- but it can also be the subject of major programs.

Joel sat at his desk in the headquarters of the Texas Grappling League. It was just a converted retail space-- nothing fancy, but it was home. The building was big enough for an office, a locker room, a gym which included two rings for the workers to train in, and a setup for promo class. It was modeled after the Rocky Mountain School of Wrestling. Joel did not train workers from scratch -- that was Ricky and Sean’s job in Denver. Joel was the finishing school -- or as he considered it -- the graduate school. Joel’s job was to take talents and help expand them. It was the end of June almost and he needed to send a report to Robert on the guys. He had decided to feature five single wrestlers -- three men and two women -- and two tag teams. He knew that Robert was going to be cutting a few more guys -- and he had already cut close to twenty guys from the main roster or developmental. Joel understood the logic. There were guys who weren’t going to do anything other than wrestle on TV and on house shows -- and while those guys were important, it was also important to clear space for other talent you thought *might* be able to become something.

Joel opened his folder to make sure he had included everything he wanted to include. He liked this part of his job. He liked being part of the team this way. He had some miles between him and his old friend, but he was still a valued part of the team He was the guy Robert was trusting to develop the future of the roster. Joel took pride in that work. Along with Owen, Damian, Steve, Emma, and Sheri, they were building a heck of a company with a heck of a future.

Joel looked down at the first page.

Dillion Wiuff
6’7”, 340lbs. Ripped Super Heavyweight. West Virginia. Hulk Powerslam [Tour of the Islands]. Natural Babyface. Regular Wrestler. Bad Ass. TCW School of Pro Wrestling.

Thoughts: Dillion has all the potential tools to be a mega babyface. He’s good looking. He’s in great shape now, though he has had some weight problems in the past. He is openly gay, which could help us reach new audiences. He’s been wrestling for four years. His Hulk Powerslam can be devastating. He is dependable, but he isn’t particularly social. He has not been a problem in the locker room, but he’s not a locker room leader either. He is definitely worth calling up or at least giving a couple of main roster matches to to see if you like what he can do.

Nolan Dunn.
Nolan Dunn is a Technician, trained at the House Of Stone, who turned pro in August 2019. He is a childhood friend of the David Stone and is currently in a relationship with Lucy Stone-McFly.

Thoughts: Nolan is probably the best technical wrestler I have on the roster. He has the same technical prowess as the Stones. He’s a handsome kid. Good head on his shoulders. I’d bring him up and put him with David and Lucy in some sort of Stone Foundation or something like that. He’s been wrestling for two years and could stay down for a little while longer but could also be a very valuable asset on the main roster.

The Masked Mauler VII.
6’4”. 290lbs. .Bulky Heavyweight. Unknown. The Claw. Babyface. Brawler. Crazy & Brute. WWA USA.

Thoughts: Just a good old school worker. I like The Mauler. There is a legacy to his match. He uses the Claw beautifully. He can work. He is just old school. He probably won’t be the biggest star on the planet, but he could be a very useful member of the roster. Could be a United States Champion, could be an Enforcer or a Gatekeeper when he gets older. He’s still a rookie, so I’d leave him in developmental for a little while longer, maybe give him the occasional dark match and maybe a rare TV match to see how he does.

Wilma Christison
5’4”. 108lbs. Toned very small. New Hampshire. Gorilla Headbutt. Face or Heel. Regular wrestler. Weasley Gimmicks. Rocky Mountain School of Wrestling.

Thoughts: She’d be a perfect addition to Money Talks if you’re looking for them to have a female. I’d change her last name. It’s too mouthy. Give her a wealthy sounding name and she’d be off to the rances. Wilma Croft or something like that. She’s from New Hampshire. Her father is a legit Financial Analyst with a lot of money in the bank. She can also be face. She’s using a headbutt from the second rope right now as her finish, could change that too. Only downside to her is her attitude. She’s not the most pleasant person to be around, but she’s a good worker. If you’re willing to tolerate the potential headaches she could bring, she’s worth it.

Jo Gallagher
5’4”.133lbs. Toned Small. Indiana. Two-Face Roundhouse Kick. Natural Face. Regular Wrestler. Psychotic or crazy characters. DeColt Power House.

Thoughts: Jo is a very dependable, hard working young lady. She’s only nineteen and has a year of experience under her belt. I gave her a run with the Texas Women’s Championship and she had twelve successful defenses. She did a good job with the belt. I like to call her the “Hoosier Heart Attack”. Her finish is a feint and then a roundhouse kick and it is absolutely wicked. When she graduated high school, she drove her car to the DeColt Power House to train. She’s got the heart and determination to make it in the business.

The Red Army
|
The Sickle - Real name Andre Martel. 6’7”. 319lbs. Flabby Big Heavyweight. Canada. Heel or Face. Brawler. Brute gimmicks. School of Mammoth.

The Punisher - Real name Brandon Huerta. 6’10”. 317lbs. Bulky Big Heavyweight. Wisconsin. Heel. Brawler. TITAN Factory.

Thoughts: You know these guys. You found them and booked them initially before sending them down to me. I think the Comrade gimmicks have run their course though and they could be repackaged. Maybe as a modern Warlord or Demon style tag team? I’m sure Agony wouldn’t mind coming in to be their manager That old bastard doesn’t have anything else going on. I’ve been using them as my top heel team in a program with the Cummos. Brandon does have great size, 6’10” and 317… Plus he is the last graduate of the TITAN Factory -- I think he’s the only ‘official’ graduate of the school. If you ever decided to push him solo you could call him “The Last Titan” Brandon Huerta and let him go to town.

Precious Metals

John Silver - 6’ 244 lbs. Toned Middleweight. Rhode Island by way of Crete. Silversault. Heel. Cruiserweight. Weasel-like characters. Rocky Mountain School of Wrestling.

Ryan Steel. 6’1”, 248lbs. Toned Middleweight. Pennsylvania. Steel Knee. Heel. No nonsense characters. Rocky Mountain School of Wrestling.

Thoughts: Both of these guys are from the Rocky Mountain School of Wrestling. They’ve developed into a really nice tag team down here. They are about the same size. Silver has the great exotic Greek look while Steel has that blue collar look. Steel looks like a guy who you could see working a deep mine or at a factory of some kind in Pittsburgh. Silver plays more of the coward while Steel is the ass kicker. Silver has some really impressive aerial moves in his arsenal which make him stand out. Steel’s running knee -- the Steel Knee -- could legit knock someone out if he’s not careful. These guys, along with Red Army and the Cummos, ensure that the tag division is going to be stacked for years to come.

Joel closed the folder. He knew that Robert was getting ready for Summer Spectacular, but he also knew that he needed to get the list to him before the month ended. He might want to use one or two of the guys on the last Slammaster of the month. He might want them for some dark matches at Summer Spectacular. Joel rubbed his bald scalp and grinned. Who would have thought he would be happy running a developmental program?
Not him. But he is. He leaned back in his chair. He couldn't wait to see who Robert took and made a star. These were his kids in the way that those early graduates of the Rocky Mountain School of Wrestling were Robert's.
Joel worked we these kids day in and day out. They ran three or four shows a week. They had built relationships and he wanted them to reach the promised land. Clinton was getting valuable screen time. But who would be next?

Quote:
Author's Note: I wanted to get this up before any shows came out! I wanted to profile some more guys in developmental, but I also thought it would make sense for it to come from Joel's point of view. Let me know what you think of his thoughts/style. I thought this might be a good way to introduce potential call ups to the main roster and give a little added backstory to each of the guys and calls.

Main Event: The Mission vs. Spade & Campbell w/ Bowen
- Face win to send the fans home happy. The feud will go on, but Spade's got a lock on that title for a while, I think.

No DQ, North American Tag Team Championship: Gangsta Nation w/ Brother G vs. The Keith Brothers (c)
- No-DQ favours the heels, especially when they're part of a stable. Plus I like the idea of Gangsta Nation doing a promo where they all have titles.

United States Championship: "Bulldozer" Brandon Smith vs. Cali Slick (c) w/ Brother G
- Smith's quest for a title comes up short.

North American Women's Championship: Tiffany Jade vs. Jaime Quine (c)
- Quine deserves a good run

Singles Match: Ross Henry vs. Cameron Vessey
- Henry's a key player for you. Let's get him back into the title picture.

Singles Match: Raymond Diaz vs. Tadiyuki Kikkawa
- Could go either way, but odds favour the hometown guy

Six Man Tag Match: Homegrown & Danny Puder vs. The Fallen
- I'm going to go out on a limb and predict a double-DQ leading to a brawl, with Homegrown finally getting some back and standing tall at the end.

Tag Team Match: The Georgia Bulldogs vs. The Devil's rejects
- Could go either way, but I think the Bulldogs need it a little more

Tag Team Match: The Stones vs. The Fat Cats
- It's practically a handicap match already due to Dan Jr's age, but with Huntingdon in the wings it'll be too big a hill for David to climb.

I've been following along for a little bit, great stuff! This is my first prediction.

Main Event: The Mission vs. Spade & Campbell w/ Bowen
Otherwise no reason to continue feud, including a title shot
No DQ, North American Tag Team Championship: Gangsta Nation w/ Brother G vs. The Keith Brothers (c)
They issued the stipulation challenge
United States Championship: "Bulldozer" Brandon Smith vs. Cali Slick (c) w/ Brother G
Slick is just beginning his reign
North American Women's Championship: Tiffany Jade vs. Jaime Quine (c)
Singles Match: Ross Henry vs. Cameron Vessey
Big win upon return
Singles Match: Raymond Diaz vs. Tadiyuki Kikkawa
Honestly a toss-up
Six Man Tag Match: Homegrown & Danny Puder vs. The Fallen
Win with their new member
Tag Team Match: The Georgia Bulldogs vs. The Devil's rejects
The Rejects won at the last big ppv
Tag Team Match: The Stones vs. The Fat Cats
Down with the Stones!!
