Default Londonverse: Diary of Harry Vedder

I started wrestling when I was 12. I'd been watching re runs on the Tele since I could remember, my da yelling advice and treating it like it was boxing or the footy.

One day he took me to see a local show at the community centre and we got chatting to one of the guys. Turned out he ran it as some live practice for his training dojo, Back alley wrestling.

I've always been tall for my age but with a fair brawn about me you know? Anyways he asked if I fancied trying it out, my pa was gonna say no until he offered the first couple sessions free like, and then he signed be right up.

And I never looked back...

By 14 I was mixing it with the biggest adults on the books and competing in the monthly community shows around the county.

I was even primed to take over the back ally Championship, Sami (the trainer) had me eyeing one of the local Scottish promotions.

He used to say, "boy, you have a rare gift. Your growing into some fair looks at least for this line of work, but looks is two a penny these days, you need something which has been lacking in the Industry of late. Charisma and presence. One day I'm a be switching on the box to see you standing tall amongst the top of this business holding the gold aloft, you mark my words".

Of course being a teenager you think your the centre of the world anyway, having such reafirmation only makes it the sweeter.. I confess my ego did get the better of me for awhile, but then I always seemed able to up my game to carry it off. I'd like to think I've found more balance, but f*ck it I'm still only 16.

Anyways, I was all set to begin my rise to stardom... When I got told we were moving abroad, bugger.

My depression lifted when they told me we were moving to America, could this be it I thought all my stars aligning at once...

But no. The fall when it came was huge, North West America, the sh*tty black hole for wrestling in the states. Not a single named company based there.

I settled in, house was okay. Neighbours fine, language odd at times but I found some fellow wrestling buddies and all looked rosy.

I started wrestling at school and going to weekly pro shows at the weekend.

I turned 16 in January two months into this American move.

I got talked into taking part in a local show, was great fun and I got over with the fans, (all 85 or so). The booker asked me to join them again next time out and I couldn't wait.

Imagine my surprise when at the end of the show the booker says there's someone he would like me to meet...

Memphis f*cking King man, I mean yeah okay I was never a massive fan of his or anything, but he is a real life pro... Turns out retirement doesn't sit with him, he is opening a North West company, The Memphis King Wrestling Company, and he wants me to sign up as a future prospect.

Man I am starting to really believe the stars are aligned for me, I've finished school, no college lined up, this is it. All in on becoming a star!

My name is Harry Vedder and this is my story

*Hey I said I kept in shape

Default Look ma I'm on TV!

February Week 1 2015
************************************************** ************

So, I signed a PPA deal with the King. $600 a performance! Damn I need to earn this dollar.

Imagine my shock, "Hey boy it's the King. I have secured us a afternoon cable slot on Cartoon World. I want you to open our first show, say what ever you like, you have talent boy and I want to see you get over with the fans here in the USofA."

Kings of Cable, my first paying gig in wrestling, opening for a new cable show airing across America on a Friday afternoon in front of 5,000 fans live and nearly 97,000 viewing at home.

I think I came over well. Feedback was my Show stealer gimmick got a great reception from most of those watching. TV today gave me a D-.

I was up first against one of the Upper mid card guys, Thomas K. Orton. I lost following interference from Devon Derby, both heels have the bully gimmick and this was to kick off our storyline of me overcoming the odds and establishing me as a main face on the roster.

TV today rated us at E+, I was disappointed but King told me to remember its all about popularity and no one knows who I am yet. Performance wise I did a solid debut effort.

Sunday we have our weekly event King of Pro Wrestling.

It was a great show, unfortunately I didn't get to compete, King had some new members join the roster and my match got canned at the last moment. King told me not to worry, I have time on my side.

February Week 2 2015
************************************************** ************

Wednesday saw a new event announced at short notice, MKWC Determination.
Another sold out 5,000 seat arena,
Gale sheen won the Queen of Memphis title.

Grayson Royce won the King of kings title.

Unfortunately I was left back stage again tonight.

Friday and time for Cable TV on comedy World.
I teamed up with Beau Cartwright to defeat Orton and Rex Nebula. Rated C-
140,000 viewers this week
Show rated C.

Sunday and our King of Pro wrestling event rolled around.
Again I made the cut, things are looking up finally.
I lost the opener to Lethal Shizzle... I mean that name bro.... TV guide rated us C-
Gale retained her belt.
Canvas won the North American Championship

Grayson Royce won the new MKWC Triple crown Title (King seems to have dropped the King of Kings title but kept the top belt with Royce)

Show rated B-
TV viewers reaching 150k

Well thats me two weeks in to life as a professional wrestler, and I am loving it!

February Week 3 2015
************************************************** ************
Friday Cable TV time, I hoped to keep my run of screen time up but King wanted to go a different direction as the roster finds its rhythm.
Gale retained again.
Beau & Codebreaker won the US tag championships (I felt after my showing with Beau last week I could have been in the mix here, but seems i'm still too new to pick up a belt)

Show rated a C

Sunday Event time, King of Pro Wrestling
I was in the second match up of the night, lost to Tony Johns. Rated C-
Devon Derby won the North American championship, Canvas just wasn't cutting it dropping at the first time of asking.
Gale continues to retain her Queen of Memphis title.
Grayson Royce retains the MKWC triple crown.
Show rating B-

February Week 4 2015
************************************************** ************

Friday afternoon means Cable TV, our short run with Comedy World is being discussed for renewal, King says he is confident we will get a comparable deal.
Again I fail to make it on camera.
Beau & Codebreaker retain the US tag titles
Show C-

Sunday King of Pro wrestling
Still a second match on the card, loss to Orton. Again he doesn't bring out the best in me, hopefully I am not up against him much more, I need to shine!
Gale retains
Greyson retains the triple crown surprisingly not in the main event
Show rating C+

I have some decisions to make

Default Foreign shores

May Week 1
********************************************

Memphis King of Cable
Show Rated C-
Nothing of note and no use for me tonight.

MKWC Stay Hungry
I got a match this time in front of the sold out crowd of 5,000, 3rd from the end a good slot.
unfortunately it was to lie down for Devon Derby in another failed attempt to win the North American Championship.
Still I was allowed to put up a good fight and make the crowd feel I had a real chance.... maybe next time
Rated C-
Also on the card
Sian retained
Greyson retained
Overall show rated C, nearly 200k viewers on Cartoon world.

King of Pro Wrestling was in front of 8,765 fans
I opened the show partnering with Mr America to defeat the Violent Playboys by DQ
Rated C-
Sian and Greyson both retained
A solid show rated C

May Week 2
********************************************

Memphis King of Cable
Show Rated C-, only 2,992 in attendance our lowest but the first time we travel out of our base area to New England.
Woo I made it on the card this week, only for me and Beau Cartwright to get beaten by Hit and Run as they retained their US tag team titles.
Another title shot, come on King give me a chance here!
Match rated C

King of Pro Wrestling
Show rated C, attendance 9,126. Over 203k viewers
Sian retained
I came so close tonight picking up the victory over Devon Derby for the North American championship, but by DQ! damn it so close I can taste it.
Rated C-
I wish King would let me talk, I feel I could cut some great promo's and really get over if I got the chance.
Greyson retained again tonight.

May Week 3
********************************************

Memphis Cable
Show rated C
Nothing for me as King takes TV to the Tri-state area

My week included the most travelling for a long time.
A flight out to Japan to compete on the undercard for JWA on their Lost Cause Tour in front of a Sold out 2,000
I lost to Emerald Scarab in a great match which rated B- my best showing ever by far, shame it landed on a pre-show but I seem to have won plenty of Japanese fans from those in attendance.
The show itself rated B, my confidence took a solid boost as I held my own and put on one of the better matches.

King of Pro-Wrestling
Show rated C
Sian retained her crown again
Derby retained, not chance for me this time
Wow my first Hype video, this was a lot of fun as me and C.J. Hunter got to record some fun segments. Only rated D-, I need more non-match time on screen.
Unsurprisingly I lost to C.J. but at least I was top of the under-card and against a World title contender
Also my best US performance to date, we were rated C+
Greyson retained to close the show

Another solid week for me, and my first trip out to Japan... damn I am knackerd this flying back and forth takes it out of you

May Week 4
********************************************

Memphis King of Cable
Show rated C- as we visited Great Lakes.
King let me stay off encase it clashed with my travel plans which was nice of him, although given he has rarely put me on the afternoon show it comes off as a poor excuse.

Back out to Japan for me this week
Made the main card at JWA Lost Cause Tour, only 1,913 in attendance this time
the show rated in at C+
I lost to Magnus Martenson after a solid match which also rated C+

King of Pro Wrestling
Show rated C
Back as the tag team The Exploders we lost to The Violent Playboys....
Rated C-
Sian continues to retain her belt
Devon dropped the North American title to Beau Cartwright after 8 previous defences, there goes my chance! maybe I can persuade King I should be up next....
Greyson retained his Triple Crown again... man is on a roll!

A great month, I sometimes have to try and remember I'm only 16 and compared to my peers in the industry I am flying, lets see how far I get....

My second Hype video ahead of competing with Lethal Shizzle
Only rated a D- which I felt was harsh, what I wouldn't give for time on a live mic....sigh
On the plus side over 300k people watched me past Shizzle all over the ring.
Rated C, solid effort
Sian finally lost her Queen of Memphis title to Alexandria Polak, by all counts she was a solid fighting champion.
Beau fought off Devon's attempts at regaining his belt via a count out
Greyson retained as usual - he is so far ahead of most of this roster in terms of popularity I can see him holding it for ever..19 defences...solid

June Week 3

JWA Beginnings Uncovered 2015
My first PPV in front of nearly 13k in the stadium and 110k sitting at home

As did Beau
Hit and Run defended by DQ against myself and Mr America in a C Rated encounter.

Memphis King of Cable

King of Pro Wrestling
Show rated C+
I lost to Tony Johns tonight in a C rated match up, disappointed to be so low down the card, I felt I had climbed up higher in their esteme
Polak retained
In a really odd turn of events Greyson finally dropped the Triple Crown after 20 defences to Pap Garcia and it wasn't even the main event?
That went to meaningless timelimit draw tag match....

MKWC has jumped to 11th promotion in the world and has a cult following.
I wanted to congratulate King on his success but he seemed surprisingly out of sorts, maybe its the pressure?

June Week 4
********************************************

At 68 Memphis King announced his retirement from the industry and offered MKWC up for sale.
This is a right blow... I was counting on getting time to develop under his friendly oversight... now what does the future bring?

Show rated C
Preshow tag victory for us Exploders over the Violent Playboys

Hey thanks

Something very different for me on here.
Trying to replicate as his diary going through his career, so presuming he makes it to some milestones and bigger companies he will save posters and magazine covers etc highlighting his achievements.

At the moment starting out, presume he would be less likely to save more than light notes as it builds over time
