Loving the predictions and reasoning; thanks John and Jay!

CZCW The Next Wave, Saturday Week 3 March

Pre-show

CLM and El Mitico Jr team to beat two masked guys, Mitico's Northern Lights Suplex pulling off the win. (D+)

Donnie J squashes Leftie Wilkes, Bradley Blaze, and Copperhead in a quick four-way, Death on Miami Beach beating Blaze. (D)

Main show

Another five-way for Fuyuko Higa, who beats out Emma May, Eve Runcord, Lily Snyder, and Bizarro. It's been said that certain wrestlers could carry a broomstick to a decent match; Higa could carry FOUR broomsticks to a watchable five-way, and virtually does so here. Higa Green Driver on Runcord for the win. (D+)

In the first CZCW Number 1 Contender's Tournament match, Jake Idol beats out Chet Chavez, Storm Spillane, Aldous Blackfriar and Rapido. Blackfriar finds a multi-man match in which he can't order someone else around to be significantly harder than his previous one was, and falls victim to the Reality Check. (C-)

In tag team action, Flash Sparrow beat Notorious and Amazing Fire Fly/Zach Rudge. Sparrow Hawk takes care of Rudge. (C-)

Back to the women, and Jaime Quine, Danielle Sweetheart and Natalie DiMarco team to beat Maria Guest, Ariel Breaks and Sarah Taylor. DiMarco's Show Stealer gimmick gets better every time I see her, but somehow her wrestling skills may be getting WORSE. Quine's KO Kick on Guest wins it. (D)

Donnie J cuts a promo, saying how excited he is to defend against Super Ninja in a few weeks time, and for today's main event! (B)

In another Number 1 Contender's Tournament match, Air Attack Weasel, Al Coleman, Simon Waves and The Architect go at it. With Weasel on the outside after missing an Asai moonsault, Coleman looks to have this won via armlock on the Architect; however Waves makes the save just in time. As the veteran and the surfer boy brawl it out, AAW is able to recover, get back in the ring, and hit the Air Attack Ace on The Architect. (D+)

Super Ninja, Tigre Salvaje Jr, and Masked Cougar beat out Donnie J, Marvel Malloy and El Jaguar in a fun ten-minute sprint. Lots of great high flying here, with the ending coming when Tigre is able to hit regular partner El Jaguar with an enziguri, then tags in Ninja for the Ninja Strike to win it. (C+)

Overall: C

CZCW The Next Wave, Saturday Week 3 March

Pre-show

Two masked guys - one of whom is really off his game - beat Seth Whitehead and Leftie Wilkes. This is NOT a good debut from Whitehead. (D)

Donnie J, Bullseye, and AAW beat Ralph Liotta, Freedom Eagle, and Copperhead with Death on Miami Beach putting away Liotta. (D+)

Main show

Britney comes down with Donnie, shooting T-shirts as she walks. (C+)

Donnie J cuts a promo to talk about how thrilled he is to be defending against Super Ninja in 2 nights' time. (B)

American Cobras beat Notorious, Spillane making Barrera tap to the Kneeling Boston Crab. (C-)

Claire Winters, Danielle Sweetheart and Jaime Quine beat Sarah Taylor, Maria Guest and Lily Snyder, Winters's Heel Kick taking out Taylor. (D+)

Super Ninja (who's off his game) and AFF beat El Mitico Jr/Rapido, Al Coleman/The Architect and Chet Chavez/Simon Waves. Coleman is all over Waves, and looks strong here, but it's Ninja who gets the win with a Ninja Strike on Rapido. (D+)

Waylon Walls and Kip Keenan beat Zach Rudge and Aldous Blackfriar, Jumping Double Arm DDT from Walls beating Aldous. (D)

Post-match, Walls, Keenan and Century attack Blackfriar further, only to be chased off by Bullseye, wielding a chair. He grabs a mic "I want you BOTH at the show on Monday night! And Masked Cougar, if you still want in on these punks, let's make it a tag match!" (D)

Fuyuko Higa defeats Eve Runcord and Emma May in a handicap match, pretty much dismantling them piece by piece with vicious strikes and holds. (D+)

Going Coastal beat the Wild Cats in a spot-filled match, with the ending coming when Tigre Salvage Jr accidentally blasts El Jaguar with a spinning wheel kick after Frankie-Boy moves out of his way. Going Coastal take advantage of the miss to hit the Coast Liner. (C)

C overall.

$10,000 or so lost that month, but we at least won the regional battle.

Spring Break Bash at the weekend; I'll get a preview up later today if people want to predict.

Spring Break Bash preview

In the Zone's first ever women's main event at a monthly show, Fuyuko Higa will challenge for Jaime Quine's Women's Title! Also in championship action, Donnie J will defend his Coastal Zone belt against Super Ninja.

Al Coleman broke Fox Mask's arm a month ago - he's threatened to do the same to Simon Waves, who stopped him from advancing in the tournament during their four-way.

In an Xtreme title match, Tigre Salvaje Jr will defend against partner El Jaguar, Amazing Fire Fly, and American Flash.

Bullseye and Masked Cougar have both had problems with We Break Bodies - they'll team to take on the pairing of Kip Keenan and Waylon Walls.

Guest stars from QAW, Millie The Minx and Charity Sweet, have laid down a challenge to any women on the Zone roster - and it's been accepted by Claire Winters and Danielle Sweetheart!

And Going Coastal take on the American Cobras, with the winners challenging for Rich and Famous's tag titles!

Prediction Key

Coastal Zone Women's Title match: Jaime Quine (c) vs Fuyuko Higa
Coastal Zone Championship: Donnie J (c) vs Super Ninja
Al Coleman vs Simon Waves
Coastal Zone Xtreme Title match: Tigre Salvaje Jr (c) vs Amazing Fire Fly vs American Flash vs El Jaguar
Bullseye/Masked Cougar vs Kip Keenan/Waylon Walls
Coastal Zone Tag Title match: Rich and Famous vs Going Coastal or American Cobras
Danielle Sweetheart and Claire Winters vs Millie The Minx and Charity Sweet
Going Coastal vs American Cobras

Coastal Zone Women's Title match: Jaime Quine (c) vs Fuyuko Higa
It's Higa time baby, and the train ain't stopping for nobody
Coastal Zone Championship: Donnie J (c) vs Super Ninja
Last gasp for Super Ninja as he works his way down the card after this
Al Coleman vs Simon Waves
Coleman broke the face of the Zone's arm, Simon Waves is still paying his dues Young Lion style
Coastal Zone Xtreme Title match: Tigre Salvaje Jr (c) vs Amazing Fire Fly vs American Flash vs El Jaguar
You've foreshadowed some clear tension between the Wild Cats, so I see the partners costing each other their chance at the belt and AFF walks away with it. Fire Fly is the perfect person to be champion and it will help elevate both him and the belt.
Bullseye/Masked Cougar vs Kip Keenan/Waylon Walls
Bullseye gets the rub of being in a major match despite being a developmental guy, and Keenan/Walls get a win over Masked Cougar without having to pin Masked Cougar
Coastal Zone Tag Title match: Rich and Famous vs Going Coastal or American Cobras
Danielle Sweetheart and Claire Winters vs Millie The Minx and Charity Sweet
"job the challengers" is usually a cliche strategy, but when you have only had a women's division for 3 months you need to establish YOUR names, and this is the way to do it.
Going Coastal vs American Cobras
Coinflip here, going to go with the traditional Zoners

CZCW Spring Break Bash

Pre-show

Matt Sparrow teams with two masked guys to beat Leftie Wilkes, Copperhead and Bradley Blaze, hitting the Bird Brain Buster on Blaze. (D+)

Ariel Breaks and Natalie DiMarco beat Lily Snyder/Bizarro and Maria Guest/Simony Sentinel, DiMarco Stretch causing Bizarro to tap out. (D-)

Air Attack Weasel and Notorious beat Lucas Danger, Seth Whitehead and Kid Fantastic. The Kid, debuting and fighting his first match in about four months after breaking his arm last year, looks better than the rest of his team, but that's not saying much. Rivera debuts a new spot which the crowd love. (D)

Main show

Video plays hyping our two title main events, Donnie J vs Super Ninja and Higa vs Quine. (D-)

In an excellent chapter in the never-ending rivalry, Cobras beat Going Coastal. Really open match, with both teams looking good, but Frankie-Boy taps out to Storm's Kneeling Boston Crab. (C)

Donnie cuts a promo about his match with Super Ninja. Fairly standard babyface stuff, but the crowd adore it. (B+)

Danielle Sweetheart and Claire Winters, representing CZCW, beat Millie the Minx and Charity Sweet, representing QAW. This is perfectly acceptable wrestling, nothing specia but it gets the two contracted workers over well. Winters' Heel Kick on Sweet wins it. (D)

Rich and Famous cut a promo, sneering that there's no way the Cobras have what it takes to beat them. (C-)

In the Zone's best match of the year so far, the Cobras prove R & F wrong, overcoming their tiredness after wrestling once already tonight. Jordan and Idol cheat their way to take control several times, but the Cobras just can't be kept down, constantly coming back. Eventually, Malloy's Cobra Strike on Idol gets the win. (B-)

The tag match is a short one, as Waylon Walls and Kip Keenan work over Masked Cougar. Cougar tries to fight back, and eventually dives over to his corner for the hot tag - only to get blasted in the face by his partner! Sneering, Bullseye rips off his vest to reveal a We Break Bodies T-shirt, as Keenan hits the lariat for the victory. (C-)

The three heels, with Century yelling instructions, attack Masked Cougar post match as well, only for Going Coastal to charge down and make the save. (E+)

Amazing Fire Fly wins a high spot filled four way vs both Wild Cats and American Flash to take the Xtreme title. Lots of fun spots here, with the Wild Cats looking good whether hitting double-team manoeuvres or facing off against each other. End comes as El Jaguar dives out of the ring with a tope con hilo on his regular tag partner Tigre Salvaje Jr, unintentionally allowing Amazing Fire Fly to hit the Sky High Fire Fly on American Flash and get the pinfall. (C)

Al Coleman beats Simon Waves in a quick and brutal match, the two have no chemistry but this does its job of continuing to get Coleman over as a menace; he focuses hard on Waves's right arm and gets the armlock tapout. (D)

Donnie J beats Super Ninja in a really great match - the two have awesome chemistry, and put on a fabulous show. After several nearfalls for both competitors, Donnie is able to sidestep the Ninja Strike and hit Death on Miami Beach. (C+)

And showing that their place in the main event is absolutely deserved, Fuyuko Higa and Jaime Quine put on a superb 20 minute bout. The champion looks great and has control early on, but somehow can't quite put Higa away, and twice comes agonisingly close to hitting that big KO Kick without quite managing to. As the match goes on, Higa looks better and better, and is eventually able to win the title with the Higa Green Driver. (C+)

C overall.

Over in AAA, Cherry Bomb wins the newly created COTT Women's championship.

(Thanks John Lions for predicting! 6/7, just missing the tag match.)

Nice show! Glad to see the match ratings go up accordingly, even after you lost Frankie Perez and not having some of your core zoners like Fox Mask on the show. Completely missed the tag title match but it wouldn't have mattered since I didn't think Rich and Famous would drop the title anyway.

Was expected Bullseye to be getting a minor push from helping Cougar out, so I was a bit shocked when he joined up with Walls but it was a bit more clear in hindsight.

Thanks John, glad you enjoyed it! I've been kinda surprised the match ratings are holding up so well; Higa is GOLD though and lots of others stepping up to the plate.

CZCW The Next Wave, Saturday Week 1 April

Pre-show

Jake Idol and a masked man beat me and Bradley Blaze, the masked guy being seriously off his game. Idol's Reality Check takes care off Blaze. This is NOT a good match, but me and Blaze make a surprisingly good team. (D-)

Main show

Donnie J and Air Attack Weasel call out Al Coleman. "We're sick of the people in this company who think they can bully others, and deliberately injure them. Friends of ours are taking on Century's men tonight - that leaves you, Coleman. Pick a partner, and meet us in the ring." (E+)

In a Number One Contender's match, CLM beats El Mitico Jr, Waylon Walls and Miguel Rivera. LAX Departure on Mitico wins it. (D-)

Fox Mask comes out. "My injury has made me realise that while I'm not planning on giving up any time soon, I'm ready to look for a partner/successor. A 'Fox Cub', if you will. The mask is made - now to choose who to wear it." He calls out Carlos Barrera, Chet Chavez, Simon Waves and Zach Rudge. "I've watched you all, and been impressed. I propose a mini tournament, with the winner becoming the new Fox Cub. Are you in?" They all nod. I resolve never to let Foxy get on a live mic again. (F)

Claire Winters and Natalie DiMarco (who's off her game) beat Sentinel/Guest and Sweetheart/Breaks. Flying Knee Strike from Claire on Simony is the finish. Guest debuts a new high spot. (D-)

Sparrow offers to team up with Coleman. "I don't especially like you, or what you're doing. But I want Donnie J in the ring." (E+)

Fuyuko Higa makes her first defence of the women's title, beating the on loan Millie The Minx with a Higa Green Driver. (D)

Super Ninja and Amazing Fire Fly beat Bullseye and Keenan, Sky High Fire Fly putting down Keenan. While Ninja and AFF further their uneasy alliance storyline with a couple of instances of miscommunication, Keenan and Bullseye look legitimately terrible as partners. Also Ninja and Bullseye are off their games here; Fire Fly carries them to something watchable but it's not pretty. (D)

Amazing Fire Fly grabs a mic and taunts Travis Century. "You call yourself We Break Bodies? Maybe it should be We Lose Matches, because without cheating or turning on partners, it's not looking like your guys can do much in the ring." (D)

Coleman and Sparrow - who also look terrible in the ring together - pull off something of a shock win over Donnie J and Air Attack Weasel, Weasel tapping to the armlock from Coleman. (D+)

In another Number One Contender's Tournament match, Masked Cougar beats Jackpot Jordan, El Jaguar and Tigre Salvaje Jr. The Wild Cats start off working with each other, but quickly end up taking each other on to try and get the victory. As the pair fight, though - with El Jaguar pulling off a stunning hurricanrana to take Tigre to the floor from the apron - Cougar nails I Am Cougar, Hear Me Roar on Jackpot to get the 3. (D+)

D overall. Ouch.

CZCW The Next Wave, Saturday Week 2 April

Pre-show

Waylon Walls and the debuting Austin Smooth beat Kid Fantastic and Preston Fuller, Walls nailing the Jumping Double Armed DDT on KF. (D-)

More debuts, as Acid II and Aldous Blackfriar beat Johnny Needham and Ralph Liotta. (D-)

Main show

Music video promotes the Number 1 Contenders' Tournament. (C-)

In another match in the tournament, Amazing Fire Fly outlasts Marvel Malloy, me, Frankie-Boy Fernandes, American Flash and Bullseye, hitting the Sky High Fire Fly on Bullseye. (D+)

And in the final first round match in the tournament, Matt Sparrow pins Kip Keenan after a Bird Brain Buster, as Zach Rudge shows an uncharacteristic display of aggression, going after Carlos Barrera right from the start. (D+)

Britney interviews Fox Mask about the Fox Cub challenge tournament, asking why he wants a successor - he explains that his broken arm has given him a new outlook on life, and he wants to pass on his knowledge to the younger generation. (C-)

Jaime Quine beats Danielle Sweetheart in a very good match, hitting the KO Kick. (C)

Post-match, Quine says that she wants a rematch with Higa at Welcome To The Coastal Zone. (C-)

Higa teams with Claire Winters and Lily Snyder to beat Ariel Breaks, Charity Sweet and Simony Sentinel, with the Higa Green Driver on Sweet taking the victory. (C-)

Britney translates for Fuyuko, who accepts the match, and says she wants it to be a 30 minute iron-woman match! (D)

Chet Chavez and Al Coleman show excellent chemistry teaming together, which makes the next match way better than I was ever hoping for. Chetinator on El Jaguar gives them something of an upset win over the Wild Cats; the Cats seem to struggle to get on the same page, perhaps because they've ended up going against each other in recent weeks more often than they've teamed. (C)

Rich and Famous take on Storm Spillane/Masked Cougar and Rapido/California Love Machine (since CLM and Storm's regular partners were in tournament action tonight.) The established team's fluency - and willingness to bend the rules - are too much for the two new pairings; Idol gets the Reality Check on Rapido for the win. (C)

C- overall.

Post show, Marvel Malloy is enthusiastic about the potential for Kip Keenan to be a star.

CZCW The Next Wave, Saturday Week 3 April

Pre-show

Donnie J and a masked man (who have zero chemistry as partners) team to beat Boriken Love Machine Jr and Kyuichi Matsumoto. Better than expected, BLM Jr's Old School Face gimmick and Kyuichi's Street Thug one both go down a storm. (D)

Jaime Quine and Lily Snyder beat Millie the Minx and Romi Yamato. (D)

Main show

In the first semi-final of the Number 1 Contender's Tournament, Jake Idol beats Matt Sparrow in an excellent back and forth match. Sparrow is NOT happy with this booking, though. (C)

Waylon Walls and Bullseye get a rare clean win for We Break Bodies over Rapido and The Architect, Pin Point Knee by Bullseye beating Architect.

Post-match, Walls, Bullseye and Century attack Architect, leaving him down and out. (E+)

In the first Fox Cub qualifier, Carlos Barrera beats Chet Chavez with a Curb Your Enthusiasm. (D)

Danielle Sweetheart comes out and says that even though she lost against Jaime Quine last week, she's sure she can beat champion Fuyuko Higa if she's given a chance - and asks for a non-title match right now. (D)

Higa comes out and accepts, and the pair go nearly 30 minutes in an excellent bout. Higa Green Driver takes it. (C-)

Travis Century gives a sneering interview when he tells Masked Cougar "Look, we won. But more importantly, we broke someone ELSE. You think you can stop us? We'll see you at Welcome To The Coastal Zone." (D+)

In the second Fox Cub qualifier, Simon Waves beats Zach Rudge with a sunset flip. (D-)

In the second semi-final of the Number 1 Contender's Tournament, Air Attack Weasel and Masked Cougar pull off a great bout despite being given just 9 minutes. Cougar Pounce is the finish. (C)

And in the final semi-final, Amazing Fire Fly beats California Love Machine in a great high-spot filled match. Sky High Fire Fly is the finish. (C+)

Post-match, Donnie J comes out and applauds AFF. (D+)

C overall.

CZCW The Next Wave, Saturday Week 4 April

Donnie J takes Lucas Danger under his wing as a protege.

I pull an elaborate rib on Matt Sparrow, who's just handed in his notice. He's not happy; everyone else - especially Tigre Salvaje Jr - finds it hilarious. Let's call that a win.

Pre-show

Simon Waves and Carlos Barrera win a 3-way, beating The Architect/Leftie Wilkes and Copperhead/Bradley Blaze. (D-)

Fuyuko and Britney beat Charity and Romi. Fuyuko Higa turns in one of the best in-ring performances we've seen this year. (C-)

Main show

Kip Keenan pulls off a shock victory over Matt Sparrow with a massive lariat. Sparrow is having a bad night (to put it charitably; he may well be intentionally dogging his penultimate match.) (D+)

Waylon Walls and Bullseye beat Zach Rudge and El Mitico Jr, Bullseye's Pin Point Knee on El Mitico winning it. (D+)

We Break Bodies go for the usual post-match attack, only for AFF, Super Ninja and Matt Sparrow to charge down and save. (E+)

Donnie J teams with the American Cobras to beat the makeshift team of Chet Chavez, Jackpot Jordan and Rapido. Death on Miami Beach wins a decent fight, despite Jordan in particular being off his game. (C-)

Jaime Quine goes over Claire Winters with the KO Kick in a really good match. (C-)

Super Ninja beats American Flash (who's off his game) in a short contest; Ninja Strike getting the win. (D+)

Al Coleman beats me and Air Attack Weasel, making me tap out to the armlock. (D+)

In a number one contenders' match to the COTT Tag Titles, The Wild Cats pull off something of a shock win over Going Coastal. Great contest! (C)

And in one of our best matches of the year so far, Jake Idol defeats Masked Cougar and Amazing Fire Fly to win the title shot at Welcome To The Coastal Zone! Reality Checks on both men finish this one, Idol pinning Cougar. (B-)

Post-match, Donnie J comes out and he and Idol stare each other down. (C+)

Overall rating C+

Welcome To The Coastal Zone Preview

It's time for our biggest show of the year, Welcome To The Coastal Zone!

Jake Idol won the number one contender's tournament, which featured nearly our entire roster. The tag team star is now just one match away from singles glory, as he faces Donnie J in a ladder match for the CZCW Championship!

Last month, Fuyuko Higa continued her rise to superstardom, beating Jaime Quine for the women's title. This time around, they'll face off again - in a 30 minute iron woman match!

In tag title action, The Wild Cats won a number one contender's match for the COTT Tag Titles, and will challenge the Ring Generals.

And the losers of that match, Going Coastal, will receive a shot at the CZCW Tag Titles after long-term friendly rivals American Cobras issued a late challenge.

Al Coleman is a man who looks increasingly vicious and unhinged, showing no signs of slowing down since he broke Fox Mask's arm a few months ago. Next up - Matt Sparrow.

Speaking of Fox Mask, he's looking for a new protégé - a Fox Cub, as he calls it. The mask is made; who will wear it? Carlos Barrera or Simon Waves?

And We Break Bodies, who have put out numerous Zone wrestlers in recent months, will go against Amazing Fire Fly, Masked Cougar and Super Ninja.

Welcome To The Coastal Zone Prediction Key

CZCW Championship Ladder match: Donnie J (c) vs Jake Idol
CZCW Women's Title 30 minute Iron Woman match: Fuyuko Higa (c) vs Jaime Quine
Al Coleman vs Matt Sparrow
COTT Tag Title match: The Ring Generals (c) vs The Wild Cats

CZCW Championship Ladder match: Donnie J (c) vs Jake Idol
Jake Idol has been a surprise but Donnie J has been the man and I don't see that ending here. The guy who beats him is going to have some substantial build behind them.
CZCW Women's Title 30 minute Iron Woman match: Fuyuko Higa (c) vs Jaime Quine
Higa is set but I'm worried no one else in the women's division is really being built up enough
Al Coleman vs Matt Sparrow
later Matt, don't let the door hit you on the way out
COTT Tag Title match: The Ring Generals (c) vs The Wild Cats
I think they've earned it
Amazing Fire Fly/Masked Cougar/Super Ninja
vs Bullseye/Kip Keenan/Waylon Walls
I WANT to root for We Break Bodies, but I don't think they have the talent on their side to get them up to the top of the card yet
Fox Cub final: Carlos Barrera vs Simon Waves
Barrera has mileage as Notorious still I think
CZCW Tag Title match: American Cobras (c) vs Going Coastal
Don't think they drop the titles immediately

CZCW Welcome To The Coastal Zone, Mon Week 1 May 2018

Pre-show

Lucas Danger teams with a masked guy to beat Hugh De Aske and Joffy Laine. No chemistry from EITHER team here, while Danger is wasted on drugs, meaning it's something of a flop. (D-)

El Mitico Jr and Rapido win a tag match against The Architect/Drop Kix, Chet Chavez/Zach Rudge, and Aldous Blackfriar/Copperhead. Drop Kix eats the pin from Rapido's 540 Splash. (D)

Bradley Blaze, Miguel Rivera and Boriken Love Machine Jr beat Johnny Needham, Tiger Prince and Austin Smooth with Rivera's Shot in the Dark on Prince. (D-)

Claire Winters, Danielle Sweetheart, Britney Hollywood and Natalie DiMarco beat Ariel Breaks, Romi Yamato, Lily Snyder and Maria Guest, Britney hitting the Hollywood Hills on Maria. (D)

In a big five vs five match, I team with two unknown masked guys, plus AAW and American Flash. We beat Acid II, Jackpot Jordan, Preston Fuller, Seth Whitehead and Cobra, Air Attack Ace by Weasel on Cobra getting the job done. (D)

Main show

Britney and Donnie come out, Brit firing T-shirts into the crowd. (C+)

Donnie talks about how he respects Idol, the tag wrestler having done incredibly well to get to this point, but he's sure he can beat him. (B)

Despite Marvel Malloy and CLM being off their games, Cobras and Going Coastal have their usual great match. Marvel Breaker from Malloy on Frankie-Boy does enough for the win. (C+)

Carlos Barrera beats Simon Waves to become the new Fox Cub, hitting a Fox Hunter for the win. (D)

Fox Mask enters the ring with the Fox Cub mask and hands it over to Barrera, congratulating him. The Notorious member takes it and holds it aloft - before dropping it and punt kicking it into the crowd. Sneering, he looks at Foxy. "You think I want to be a goddamn super hero like you and Masked Cougar and all the other idiots who've stunk up this joint for so long? I just wanted to show you that we are BETTER than all of you." Foxy looks shocked.
(D)

AFF, Super Ninja and Masked Cougar beat Waylon Walls, Kip Keenan and Bullseye, with I Am Cougar, Hear Me Roar taking out Bullseye. We Break Bodies are focusing as much as possible on Fire Fly through the match, and the other two take full advantage of this to attack them. (C)

Post-match, Travis Century announces that Waylon Walls is owed a rematch for the Xtreme title and he's invoking that clause RIGHT NOW! (D)

Despite the beating he took in the six-man, AFF is somehow able to do enough to fight Walls off, grabbing the quick cradle for the victory. (C)

Jake Idol cuts a promo saying that he and Jordan have shown over the years that they're the Zone's greatest tag team, and he's about to show that he's the best singles star too. (C+)

Ring Generals retain their titles, after El Jaguar has control but seems reluctant to tag in Tigre Salvaje Jr, wanting to win the match himself. Waldorf Salad Toss, after a comeback from Dean, shows that that was a bad decision to make. (C-)

Post-match, Tigre Salvaje Jr grabs a mic. "I love you like a brother, man, but this isn't working for me anymore. The Wild Cats are done." (D)

Al Coleman, in a vicious display, beats Matt Sparrow. Twice, he has him in that fearsome armlock, only to actually let go when it appears Sparrow is about to tap out, to inflict more punishment with brutal punches and stomps. Eventually, he gets it on a third time for the tap-out. (D+)

Jaime Quine starts her women's title shot against Fuyuko Higa on fire, and becomes the first woman to pin her, doing so twice to take a 2-0 lead in their Iron Woman match. However, Higa fights back, and with two Higa Green Drivers and a desperation sunset flip at the 29 minute mark, gets a 3-2 win. (C+)

Donnie J and Jake Idol both have a bad night, and it looks like we should have let the women go on last rather than this ladder match. Donnie collects the title to get the victory, after a Death on Miami Beach. (C)

C overall.

Dammit, I knew we should've given the women the main.

Thanks both for predicting!

CZCW The Next Wave, Sat Week 1 May 2018

Pre-show

Rich and Famous squash Hugh de Aske and Nathaniel Ca$ino. Casino's Gambler gimmick - flipping a coin to decide whether to tag in, at one point - somehow gets the crowd WILD, though. (D+)

Kip Keenan, Bullseye, and Waylon Walls beat Austin Smooth, Johnny Needham and Ralph Liotta, in a match carried by Keenan. (D)

Keenan grabs a mic and cuts an explosive promo, promising that we WILL bow down to We Break Bodies. (C)

Main show

Brit shoots T-shirts as she accompanies Donnie out. (C+)

Donnie calls out Al Coleman. "You're taking out the biggest stars in the Zone with that armlock, I hear you say? Well, they don't come bigger than me. You and me, next week." Coleman smirks in response. "You want me, champ? You got me. But not next week, let's save it for Surf Slam. Oh... and bring that belt." (C+)

Coleman teams with El Mitoco Jr next to win a four-way tag, beating Rapido/AAW, me/Chet Chavez and American Flash/Aldous Blackfriar. El Mitico appears uneasy at tagging with the bad-tempered armbreaker, but never the less does his fair share, hitting an incredible plancha to wipe out four men while Coleman locks on the armlock to make Blackfriar tap out. Perhaps the most interesting thing about the match is the smoothness which Blackfriar and Flash display; they don't look like a duo teaming together for the first time. (D+)

Zach Rudge, backstage, asks Flash, Weasel and Donnie J if anyone's heard from Fox Mask since Welcome To The Coastal Zone. Nobody has. (D)

Jaime Quine beats Natalie DiMarco, carrying her to a decent match. (C-)

Post-match, Quine asks Fuyuko Higa to come out. The champ does, accompanied by interpreter Britney Hollywood. Jaime bows her head. "Fuyuko, just over a month ago, you beat me for my Women's title. Last week, you gave me the chance to reclaim it, and I came close, but couldn't beat you." She takes a deep breath. "But - I did what nobody else has done. I pinned you, in the middle of the ring. Not just once, but twice. So I'm asking, if you think I deserve it, how about one more title shot." Higa nods thoughtfully then starts to speak, with Britney translating. "There are many excellent competitors here. But as you say, none of them has come as close to beating me as you have. So let's go at it one more time. But let's make Zone history - with the first ever Women's title LADDER MATCH!" Quine smiles, and accepts. (C-)

Notorious beat Going Coastal, in a minor upset. The commentators sell how aggressive Barrera, in particular, is being, also referring to the disrespect with which he treated Fox Mask at Welcome. (C-)

Amazing Fire Fly and Simon Waves go up against Zach Rudge and Tigre Salvage Jr. Stip here is if Tigre and Zach win, Tigre gets an Xtreme title shot. However, that's never close to happening; Rudge looks distracted and gets rolled up in just over 3 and a half minutes by Waves; Salvaje doesn't even get to tag in. (C-)

In a women's title defence, Higa beats Claire Winters, Danielle Sweetheart, and Lily Snyder, carrying them to a very good match and pinning Snyder. (C)

In a Coastal Zone Championship match, Donnie J puts Super Ninja away with Death on Miami Beach to end an excellent sprint. These two really do look fantastic together. (C+)

Donnie J grabs a mic. "I've thought about it, and you want me at Surf Slam, Coleman? You got me. But you know what they say. Be careful what you wish for; I will have ZERO problem breaking your damn arm." (A)

C+ overall, amazing show capped with the best Zone segment of the year. Yes, I'm confused that Al Coleman is half of our hottest feud yet too.

Rumours spread that Fuyuko Higa is trying to make alliances in QAW. There's even claims she has said she's the best wrestler in the company's history. I'm not sure it counts as boasting when it's an irrefutable fact...
