Default prowrestlingGUERRILLA

PRO WRESTLING GUERRILLA 2016

For the last thirteen years, Pro Wrestling Guerilla has been the place to be for professional wrestling in the SoCal scene. Founded by a consortium consisting of Disco Machine, Super Dragon, Excalibur, Scott Lost, Joey Ryan and Top Gun Talwar; PWG presented their first show on July 26, 2003; and in quick fashion cemented itself to being one of the premier independent wrestling promotions in the United States. With a who's-who list of wrestling talent that have come in and got the fans on their feet throughout the past decade, Pro Wrestling Guerilla is known for its' gritty and real atmosphere. Perhaps renowned for the main part for their annual Battle of Los Angeles tournaments held in August or September, PWG has been booming in recent years - boasting immediate sellouts just minutes after tickets go on sale for practically every show.

Their fight club: Legion Hall, out of Reseda, California. Their crowd: a rabid, hungry flock of several hundred people. Their ring: unforgiving and giving no mercy. Their wrestlers: they give it their all to go out, fight, and represent the PWG brand!

PWG: THIRTEEN
live from Reseda, California on July 29th, 2016

JEFF COBB DEF. TREVOR LEE

As is par of the course in the American Legion Hall, the Reseda faithful was loud and ready for some hot action to kick off another exciting night of Guerrilla action. Trevor Lee made it known from the start that he was the PWG veteran in this matchup, with this only being Cobb's second PWG appearance. The bout featured great back and forth action that ended at the 11:03 mark when Cobb planted Lee with the Tour of the Islands for the impressive win.

ADAM COLE DEF. TOMMY END

In his first PWG match of 2016, "The Dutch Destroyer" Tommy End looked to make the longest reigning PWG Champion in history fade to black. Adam Cole, ever the cocky superstar, was not going to go down without a fight - as he used his cockiness to taunt End into making a few mistakes in the match. Behind referee Rick Knox's back, Cole used a double poke in the eye to sway momentum his way before putting an end to End at 16:03 with the Panama Sunrise!

RODERICK STRONG DEF. TIMOTHY THATCHER

There was a mixed hero's welcome for Roderick Strong, who is making his last PWG appearance tonight before reporting to WWE NXT in Orlando, Florida. Timothy Thatcher was ready to play spoiler in Strong's final match, but "Roddy" was in prime shape in this technical masterclass. The PWG crowd went nuts as Roderick countered a Thatcher lariat with a backbreaker followed by the Strong Hold at 16:25 to earn his last victory in Reseda.

MARTY SCURLL DEF. SAMI CALLIHAN

After dispatching fellow Brit Mark Andrews back in May, Marty Scurll walked into THIRTEEN with one goal in mind: defeat Sami Callihan. This is Sami's turf, however, and he was ready to go down swinging. "The Space Cat" made an appearance but Scurll dispatched him in a unique fashion: breaking the ears on the cat mask as if they were fingers! Soon thereafter, Callihan fell victim to the Crossface Chickenwing at 13:07!

CHUCK TAYLOR DEF. TRENT?

While they may be Best Friends, both Chuck Taylor and Trent? put friendship aside for this one where a future PWG World Championship shot may have been at stake. Trent? and Taylor were reluctant to fight at first but the Guerrilla faithful urged them on and things then got violent! Steel chairs, trash cans, and thumbtacks all found their way in the ring - with both Taylor and Trent? being pierced by the tacks! In the end only one could prevail, that being Chuck Taylor who got the win after a wild 14:06 with the Awful Waffle!

PWG TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS
THE YOUNG BUCKS DEF. DEATH BY ELBOW

The team of Death by Elbow, Chris Hero and JT Dunn, looked to walk out of Reseda with championship gold around their waists. That proved to be an unreachable goal as they faced The Young Bucks - who claimed to be "Guerrilla Gods" and unbeatable. The action went back and forth with Hero and Dunn coming so close to winning the bout, but the Bucks were too much to handle and eventually put Dunn done in 15:42 with More Bank for Your Buck! The Young Bucks make defence number 3 of their PWG World Tag Team Championships.

PWG WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
ZACK SABRE JR. DEF. KYLE O'REILLY

After dispatching Roderick Strong to win the championship at All Star Weekend 12 in March, Zack Sabre Jr. was ready to make his first successful defence against Kyle O'Reilly. "KOR" was all business tonight, as he brought his Canadian Strong Style wrestling to the forefront by battering Zack's chest with kicks. The action was wild and both men put on a clinic for the glory of being champion. O'Reilly nearly had the match won on a few occasions, but Zack's wrestling knowledge allowed him to escape all submission holds placed on him. In the end, Zack ducked a kick and grabbed the leg and forced O'Reilly to submit at 18:55 with a devastating Knee Bar! Zack Sabre Jr. makes defence number 1 of his PWG World Championship.

Zack's celebration was cut short as former PWG World Champion Roderick Strong ran out from behind the black curtain and wanted his shot at reclaiming his title - right here, right now! Zack, the fighting champion, contemplated the decision for one moment, but the Guerrilla faithful urged him to accept... in which he did! We have another PWG World Championship match!

PWG WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
ZACK SABRE JR. DEF. RODERICK STRONG

This was wild from the bell, as Roderick Strong looked to put away Zack Sabre Jr. as quickly as possible to win the title. Still a bit winded from his previous bout, Zack tried to fight back but Strong spammed Backbreakers that would make anybody wince. Somehow, someway, Zack kicked out after every single Backbreaker attempt - which caused the Reseda crowd to lose their minds at every near fall. With Zack on his knees in front of Strong, he resorted to one last power play to try and win: a middle finger. Strong tried to grab the hand and go for the kill, but Zack's wizardry allowed him to coax Strong into the Jim Breaks Armbar at 7:20 to get the win! Zack Sabre Jr. makes defence number 2 of the PWG World Championship, but the post-match party was a "Thank you!" chant for Strong as he hugged Zack before leaving the Reseda ring for what could possibly be the last time ever.
