Default WWF 1994: Turning The Tide

July 1994 was a momentous month in the world of professional wrestling when Hulk Hogan joined WCW and immediately started a feud with Ric Flair. Meanwhile, back in Hogan's old promotion, WWF, things were, to put it bluntly, bad. WWF were losing the war between themselves and WCW, they were weakened by the steroid trials that are taking place, and many fans who were introduced to WWF in the Rock 'n' Wrestling Era started to lose interest after Hogan and Warrior left, Savage being downgraded to being a Color Commentator, & stars like Mr. Perfect, Rick Rude, and Ted DiBiase having retired. Vince McMahon realized that the WWF were going downhill, he had to name a booker to try to steer the ship back on course.

Enter Jim Ross, a renowned announcer with a great mind for the industry. When Vince wanted someone who could lead WWF into the future, he immediately thought of Jim Ross. Now with Jim Ross as booker, WWF is now looking to take back the top spot in the world of professional wrestling in....

I'm gonna enjoy the three shows that will last for.

Razor Ramon vs Chris Kanyon
Comments: Kanyon is somebody I hope you push in the long term, but short term he stands no chance here.

Well Dunn vs The Rock 'n' Roll Express
Comments: Unbelievable just how many jobbers you have here.

Thurman Sparky Plugg vs Kwang
Comments: Well on his way to being a main eventer.

1-2-3 Kid vs Crush
Comments: This is a difficult one. Part of me thinks the Kid will win, but wouldn't beating Crush register as a big victory at this stage of his career? I don't know.

Owen Hart vs Tatanka:
Comments: Dances With Wolves is old news!

Thanks for the comments!

Kayon is definitely someone who should of gone on to become something better in WCW. But hey, this isn't WCW, this is WWF. Funny thing is that Vince took Kanyon under his wing, so there will probably be a push for him.

How dare you deny the greatness of Well Dunn .

I'm going to try to do everything that I can to keep Thurman Sparky Plugg from becoming Bob Holly.

Don't worry I have big plans for both 1-2-3 Kid and Crush. I can't not give a push to DOINK BRAH? YOU MAKIN KIDS CRY BRAH?

The show should be up tomorrow. Make sure to get your predictions in!

Default WWF July 1994, Week One

WWF Monday Night RAW, July 1994, Week One
Attendance: 11,215 at NY Blue Cross Arena
Quote:

As the RAW intro plays and the sirens go off inside the packed Blue Cross Arena in beautiful Rochester, New York, we go to the announcer's table where Jim Ross, Randy Savage, and Vince McMahon are. Jim Ross says that tonight is the beginning of a new era for Monday Night RAW, this is first show that is one hour and thirty minutes! Savages says that this is a permanent change and that the fans will dig it! Vince also says that he has received word from the office of WWF President, Jack Tunney, and will reveal it later on in the show. They then start to hype up the main event of the evening, which is between "The King of Hearts" Owen Hart and Tatanka. Vince then throws it to the ring for our opening contest.

Quote:
VS
Razor Ramon vs Chris Kanyon
Razor is currently embroiled in a rivalry with Shawn Michaels and his bodyguard Diesel and is on the lookout for them throughout most of the match. Even though Kanyon is a very game opponent, Razor is on point. Kanyon tries to catch Ramon off guard with a Cutter, but Ramon reverses it into the Razor's Edge! Razor covers Kanyon and gets the win.
WINNER: Razor Ramon

Quote:

As Razor is celebrating his victory with his fans...

Diesel and Shawn Michaels jump out of the crowd and attack him! They throw Razor into the ring and start laying into him. Diesel lifts Razor up and allows Shawn to hit the Sweet Chin Music! Diesel then lifts Razor up again and hits him with a Jacknife Powerbomb! Diesel and Shawn pose over the fallen body of Razor as we go to commercial.

Quote:
VS
Well Dunn vs The Rock 'n' Roll Express
After that attack, we're back for some RAW action! The Rock 'n' Roll Express are a world renowned tag team, winning multiple tag team championships from numerous different promotions. Meanwhile, Well Dunn are a new tag team working for both the WWF and Smokey Mountain Wrestling. These two teams keep up with each other well and the fans are very into this match. Morton & Gibson use their years of experience to take control of the match, but Well Dunn use their cheating ways to take back control. The finish comes when Well Dunn attempt the Double DDT on Ricky Morton, but Robert Gibson leaps off the top rope and hits both members of Well Dunn with a dropkick. Ricky & Robert then attempt to hit the Rocket Launcher on Timothy Well, but Steven Dunn runs up and low blows Ricky Morton! Well Dunn then hit Robert Gibson with the Double DDT and pick up the win.
WINNERS: Well Dunn

Quote:
VS w/
Thurman Sparky Plugg vs Kwang w/Harvey Wippleman
We're back for some more RAW action with two up and coming talents here in the WWF. Kwang is currently feuding with Adam Bomb, while Sparky is currently gaining momentum in the midcard. Kwang is being accompanied by Harvey Wippleman, who looks all around the Blue Cross Arena for Adam Bomb. This match is not the best match, but the crowd is very into it. Sparky starts off the match by going after Kwang, but Kwang moves out of the way and hits Sparky with a backstabber. Sparky eventually starts to make a comeback with a barrage of punches and slams. The finish came when Sparky attempts a diving clothesline and hits it. Sparky then goes to the top rope and attempts a Pit Stop Plunge (Diving Splash) and hits it! Sparky goes for the pin, but Harvey Wippleman distracts referee Mike Chioda! This allows Kwang to low blow Sparky! Kwang then lifts Sparky up and hits a Spin Kick and gets the win.
WINNER: Kwang

Quote:

Kwang celebrates his victory, but he goes back into the ring and continues to attack Sparky! Kwang sets Sparky up for another Spin Kick, but...

Adam Bomb rushes down to the ring! Bomb is able to prevent Kwang from leaving and hits the Atom Smasher (Release Powerbomb)! Adam Bomb has just one-upped Kwang here on RAW.

Quote:
VS w/
1-2-3 Kid vs Crush w/Mr. Fuji & Jim Cornette
RAW is back with a match between two future stars in the WWF. 1-2-3 Kid is gaining momentum in the midcard, while Crush is looking for a win to boost his rise to the main event scene. This match is a very decent match, but the fans are very solidly behind 1-2-3 Kid. Crush starts off the match by charging after Kid, grabbing him, and slamming him down on the mat. Crush then picks Kid up again and slams him back down. Kid eventually starts to make a comeback with a series of dives and splashes. The match ends when Crush is able to cut Kid's comeback short with a big boot right to Kid's head! Crush then lifts Kid up and attempts the Heart punch, but Kid ducks it and his a spin kick! Kid then lifts Crush up and hits the 1-2-3 Kick! Kid then covers Crush and gets the three!
WINNER: 1-2-3 Kid

Quote:

Vince McMahon stands in the ring as RAW is back from commercials. He announces that he has received a special message from WWF President Jack Tunney. Tunney has informed him that the WWF will now have twelve Pay-Per-Views a year! The usual five pay-per-views will now be joined by seven others known as In Your House Pay-Per-Views. The first one will take place in three weeks time called In Your House: Canadian Stampede! Before McMahon can finish talking...

Pierre & Johnny Polo interrupt him! Pierre says that with the first In Your House being in Canada, this is the perfect time to main event and win the WWF World Heavyweight Championship! Polo agrees and says that Pierre is the only man from Quebec who deserves to even be in the WWF right now. Vince brings up that there is another wrestler from Quebec still here in the WWF, Jacques Rougeau. Pierre starts screaming that he is just a fake Quebecer and that he, Pierre, is the only Quebecer who should be getting anything in the WWF. Vince says that there is clearly some unfinished business between Jacques and Pierre, to which Pierre agrees. Vince then gets something in his ear, it's from the office of WWF President Jack Tunney! He says that Tunney has made the first match for In Your House: Canadian Stampede, it will be Pierre vs Jacques Rougeau, and if Polo interferes, he will be fired on the spot! Pierre & Polo are livid as we go to commercials.

Quote:
w/ VS
Owen Hart w/Jim Neidhart vs Tatanka
The main event of the first ever hour and a half episode of RAW is between "The King of Hearts" Owen Hart and Tatanka! Owen is currently feuding with his older brother Bret, while Tatanka has been having some troubles with fellow friend Lex Luger recently. This match is a very good main event and the crowd is on fire for it. Owen starts off the match by going for the legs of Tatanka, obviously trying to kick his leg out of his leg. Hart then starts to go after the head of Tatanka with a series of clubbing blows to the back of Tatanka's head. Tatanka then starts to make his comeback with a series of chops and war cries! Before Tatanka can go for the big tomahawk chop, Owen rolls out of the ring, but Tatanka follows him. Owen starts to run away from Tatanka and eventually goes back in the ring. Tatanka tries to chase him back in the ring, but Owen immediately attacks him when he gets in! The finish comes when Tatanka is able to start making his comeback and hit his series of chops, which he finishes with a big Tomahawk Chop! Tatanka tries to set Owen up for the Renegade Drop (Samoan Drop), but Owen starts clawing at Tatanka's eyes. Tatanka drops Owen, who immediately low blows him! Owen then locks in the Sharpshooter and forces Tatanka to tap.
WINNER: Owen Hart

Quote:

Owen Hart is celebrating his win in the ring as he grabs a microphone. He starts saying that he has had enough of Bret Hart and he cannot wait until Summerslam to get his hands on him. He challenges him to a tag team match at In Your House: Canadian Stampede! It will be Owen and his close personal friend, Jim Neidhart, versus Bret Hart and whoever he can choose. Owen finishes by saying that enough is enough and it's time for a change.

Damn, I thought I had predicted, but I just left the page open without clicking in ''Submit Reply''...screw me, man...I'll certainly predict next time.

A great first show, I'm certainly going to keep following this one, as long as the PUERTO RICAN NINJA FROM THE ORIENT keeps winning. If not, I'll just riot and hijack this thread.

(Also, Well Dunn winning was...well dunn.)

Best of luck with this.

Wrestling Observer Newsletter, July 1994, Week One
By: Dave Meltzer

Quote:

The biggest news this week is having to do with Hulk Hogan. Hogan, who recently signed a seven show deal with WCW worth $300,000 each time he showed up, has been cast in the latest Sylvester Stallone movie, Judge Dredd. Hogan has denied these claims, but filming will start in three months & will last for about six months. That is a big blow for WCW.
Quote:

WWF announced at their most recent Monday Night RAW that they will now have twelve Pay-Per-Views a year instead of the normal five. Here is how the rest of 1994 will look in terms of pay-per-views for WWF:
Jul.- In Your House: Canadian Stampede
Aug.- Summerslam
Sep.- In Your House: Beware of Dog
Oct.- In Your House: Rage in the Cage
Nov.- Survivor Series
Dec.- In Your House: No Way Out

WWF is currently looking to hire more women for their women's division. Contract offers have been sent out to wrestlers such as Leilani Kai, Rhonda Singh, & most surprisingly, Bull Nakano.

WWF have also been in negotiations with various tag teams around the world to boost the tag division. Names have not been given, however.
Quote:

WCW have signed Roddy Piper to a deal. He is currently expected to be the new Commissioner of WCW, replacing Nick Bockwinkel.
Quote:

WWF started an angle at their most recent Monday Night RAW where Owen challenged Bret to find a tag team partner for their match at In Your House: Canadian Stampede, Bret accepted this challenge on Superstars. Some names that have been considered for the mystery partner slot are Randy Savage & Davey Boy Smith.
Quote:

WWF have also hired Tammy Lynn Sytch, who was recently let go from Smokey Mountain Wrestling. She is expected to start at the next RAW.
Quote:

In Japanese broadcasting news, NJPW have signed a deal with Sky PerfecTV! to air events in Japan. AJPW have also signed a deal with Sky PerfecTV! to air events. The war between these two companies is continuing to heat up!

That's all for this week. See you next week for another edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
