Lightbulb Dev Diary #13: Work continues!

Hey all,
Work is still continuing on the game! The injury, random event and arrests system have been put into place and they're working well. Thanks for all the random event suggestions!

Now i'm onto the various types of stuff your crew can do to grab cash. Different classes of crime can have various degrees of risk associated with them. You assign them to do different types of stuff every turn (or nothing if you want to speed up injury healing or have them lay low for a bit). Below are two examples of orders.

For example, Petty Crimes are your basic stuff: purse snatching, smash and grab from cars, shoplifting, etc. The rewards range from low to ok, but its lower risk as well, and if they get caught, the sentences are a little lighter in general.

Violent Crimes on the other hand (robbery, holdups etc.) can be a little more lucrative, but slightly higher chance of getting caught and typically longer sentences if they get convicted.

More later today or tomorrow!

Is the success rate of actions RNG based or based on attributes?

Part RNG, part character attributes, and part street attributes as well.

Each character (as you can see from the main screen shots in another thread) is rated in 6 categories from 1-20, and streets have ratings too (police presence and wealth).

Update: Level promotions are in and working now. When a crew member gains a level, they sometimes will gain a point to a random stat as well.

Injuries are also in too. Rarely, your crew can get hurt performing their duties, or just living their lives. Depending on the severity of the injury, they lose 1-3 points to their stats until they heal. Letting them rest (not assigning them to do anything in a turn) can increase their healing rate a bit.

Update: Still chugging along. Full injury and recovery is done. Three types of crimes and are in and working.

Got Jailbreaks set up now. If your guy gets arrested and sentenced, but you don't want him sitting in jail for (game) months and months, you can leverage the Respect you've gained to try and get him out. There are (rarely) life sentences in the game too, so there's that.

For now, the choice is: spend 5 Respect, gained through successful crimes and positive events, and have a 50% chance of breaking him out, but a 50% chance of being caught and suffering a penalty of some sort, or spend 20 Respect (a fairly high amount) and automatically break him out. A player has to make a choice to take a bit of a risk to save some of your reputation you've built up, or spend a larger chunk to avoid the risk.

Update: Still going! Got 5 types of activities in and working now. The most recent are 'Operations'.

These are more sophisticated crimes that require planning and a bit of a setup fee, as opposed to the usual one-off crimes. You can choose the type of crime, the setup cost, the percentage chance of success, and how many game months it takes to execute it. But they offer typically higher rewards than normal crimes as well. An example screen:

The lower the chance of success, usually the higher the reward. This way, you can choose your degree of risk. Comments welcomed.
