(Nitro is the bottom of the previous page)

A recap video from Saturday Night’s Main Event opens the show, specifically spotlighting the contract signing between Shawn Michaels and Owen Hart and of course the main event cage match which saw Triple H become the new WWF Intercontinental Champion when outside enforcer Iron Mike Tyson inexplicably interfered, slamming the cage door into the head of Stone Cold Steve Austin just as he was about to leave the cage and retain his title.

Grade: 100

D-Generation X comes down to the ring….sans Chyna. Michaels and Triple H get in the ring and tell the audience that first off, it’s pretty clear now that DX rules the world because you’re looking at the two highest ranking champions in the business. Second, that won’t be changing after WrestleMania because he has it on very very good authority that Owen Hart won’t be making it to Boston. He motions to the Titantron and we see a pre recorded video of Michaels, Triple H, and Chyna, all looking down at something. When the camera pans down we see Owen Hart who is unconscious. They taunt him for a few moments before Chyna opens the trunk to a nearby car and they all pick up Hart and put him in before slamming the trunk. Triple H hands Chyna the keys and Michaels hands her a bag full of energy drinks, snacks, a road map and other goodies. They wish her well on her trip and she gets in and drives off as Michaels and Triple H fake crying and waving goodbye. When we cut back to the ring they’re laughing hysterically as JR shames them as kidnapers and cowards as Lawler says Owen is getting an all expense paid trip to see the country. Triple H says that nobody gets in the way of DX. They do what they want, when they want, and that will never ever change!

Grade: 97

Henry’s power goes unsaid but it was heard loud and clear in this one as he punishes D’Lo Brown with power move after power move. From military press slams to shoulder blocks to a huge avalanche in the corner. D’Lo is basically out on his feet when Henry slaps on the side headlock submission but suddenly Kama jumps in the ring and attacks Henry. When the referee calls for the bell the two members of the Nation put the boots to Henry before escaping.

Winner by Disqualification: Mark Henry
Grade: 56

Following the commercial break the WWF Tag Team Champions are in their locker room. In the background an angry Billy Gunn is pacing and the Road Dogg addresses the camera. He asks if the Godwinns thought it was funny to humiliate them and almost kill them on Saturday. Well the Outlaws aren’t laughing. It’s time to show those hillbillies what happens when you step up to the champs. At WrestleMania their hog slopping, chicken feeding, sister kissing asses belong to the Outlaws and if you didn’t know that, your ass better call someone!

Grade: 64

Cameras catch Stone Cold Steve Austin entering the building and he looks ready for war. Anyone in his path becomes a victim of his anger as he throws officials, crew, and even the Headbangers who are in the wrong place at the wrong time. Finally security is able to wrangle him before he can make it to Vince McMahon. McMahon says if Austin is so upset about Saturday he can take it out in the ring against someone who’s just as mad as he is…Vader! Austin goes wild again but is restrained, telling McMahon that he wants Mike Tyson’s ass when he’s done.

Grade: 64

Quote:

The Rock seems more focused than we’ve ever seen him as he makes a quick line to the ring and immediately goes after Funk. The Rock is all over him, busting him in the corner with punches and kicks and smothering the smaller guy. Rock whips him to the other corner but Funk jumps up on the turnbuckles and soars with a cross body block but the Rock catches him and drops him down across his knee. For a moment the Rock begins to smirk but it fades as he measures Funk for a running knee drop. He finally delivers a Rock Bottom but picks up Funk’s head at the two count. He delivers another Rock Bottom and makes the cover for the win.

Winner by Pinfall: The Rock
Grade: 80

We see a pre taped sit down interview Jim Ross does with Mike Tyson. JR starts with a simple question….why? Tyson says that he’s loved wrestling since he was a kid and he was excited to be a part of the WWF but Steve Austin showed him nothing but disrespect. Well where Tyson is from if someone disrespects you, you do something about it. So he did what he had to do on Saturday Night in order to get where he needs to be. JR asks him what that means. Tyson says that he’ll be at RAW next week in person and he’s going to tell Steve Austin that if he wants to settle it, they can do it in the ring….at WrestleMania. JR says that it might be the biggest matchup in WrestleMania history but Tyson says it’ll also be the quickest because he’s going to knock Austin out faster than Michael Spinks.

Grade: 85

Backstage, Vader is approached by Michael Cole. Before Cole can even finish asking him about losing to Simon Landry, Vader grabs him by the neck and shoves him after ripping the microphone away. Vader says that it was a fluke but tonight he’s going to show the world who the man is because he gets Stone Cold in that ring and he’s going to finish what Tyson started because tonight’s it’s Vader Time. He throws the mic at Cole and stomps away.

Grade: 58

A quicker match than usual as the LOD appear as dominant as they ever have in their career. Animal works over Skull, who makes a tag to 8-Ball. 8-Ball gets the same treatment, Hawk makes a blind tag and when Animal delivers a powerslam and puts 8-Ball on his shoulders with amazing strength, Hawk nails the Doomsday Device for the win.

Winners by Pinfall: The Legion of Doom
Grade: 70

As the LOD get their hands raised, Ravishing Rick Rude comes out onto the stage. He says everyone makes mistakes and for old time’s sake he’s going to give his friends one more chance. He wants to take them back to the level they deserve. They just need to give him a chance. Hawk and Animal are shaking their heads watching him up on the stage. Rude begins to get angry and says he knows what they need. They need a wakeup call. They need a slap in their face. They need…..a rude Awakening. From the crowd two huge men jump the barrier and slip into the ring.

When Hawk and Animal turn around each of them are floored by a huge running boot to the face. As Rude smirks at the scene, Hawk is powerbombed by one of the men while Animal is manhandled by the other and thrown over the top rope. Both men return to Hawk and pick him up for another powerbomb but he’s not driven down, instead he’s held up and the second man positions the back of his head on his shoulder. They drive him down together in a combination neck breaker/sit down powerbomb. Both of these big men leave the ring and walk up the ramp to Rude and they exchange hi-fives and return to the back.

Grade: 61

We see a replay of the attack on the Legion of Doom by the men Rick Rude referenced as the Awakening. JR tells us that Hawk and Animal were both helped to the back and are receiving medical attention.

Grade: 53

Elsewhere backstage the members of the NWA are searching for someone who we find out is Wildfire Tommy Rich. Cornette says he hasn’t seen him for hours but he knows he’s at the arena. We hear someone yelling for help and they all barge into a room where we see Tommy Rich laying on the floor wrapped up in barbed wire. They try to help him but he howls out in pain as Windham says he’s going to go get help and leaves. As Cornette and Bradshaw attend to Rich, Jarrett stands back with a horrified look as it dawns on him what he may be in for in a few weeks.

Grade: 52

Quote:

Goldust and the Undertaker go face to face in the middle of the ring and Goldust begins running his hands across Undertaker’s chest. For his provocative actions he gets a solid right hand in the mouth. From that point the Undertaker is in firm control of the match but when he goes to walk the ropes, Goldust yanks down to the mat. Goldust spends the next several minutes working the deadman over, going for a few two count pinfalls, before finally hitting the Curtain Call. He blows kisses to Marlena but behind him the Undertaker sits up and snaps his head to him. When Goldust turns, Undertaker scoops him up and delivers a Tombstone for the win.

Winner by Pinfall: The Undertaker
Grade: 83

As the Undertaker walks back up the ramp the lights go out, and Kane appears on the Titantron. He tilts his head to the side, as if studying his brother when suddenly a wall of fire shoots up through the floor in front of the Undertaker. Then another wall of flame behind him. Then we see Paul Bearer appear on the screen. He tells the Undertaker that at WrestleMania he’ll won’t rest in peace….he’ll burn in hell!

Grade: 90

In the back we see Marc Mero exit his locker room before stopping and turning back. He tells someone that if they wanted to embarrass him on Saturday now fair is fair. We see Sable exiut the room and she’s wearing a black garbage bag with her arms and legs sticking out. She looks ashamed. Mero belittles her as they walk, telling her how terrible she looks, eventually she begins to sob when Mero comes face to face with Simon Landry.

Landry tells him that he shouldn’t treat her like that. Mero says for Landry to get out of his face because he’s already beaten him. Landry says why don’t you try and do it again….at WrestleMania. Mero smirks and says he’ll gladly treat Landry like his new bitch. Mero walks off, yanking Sable behind him by the wrist.

Grade: 66

JR says they just got word that Owen Hart has been found and he’s safe. JR says that it appears Owen is not going to press charges against DX because he doesn’t want to allow Michaels to weasel out of their title match at WrestleMania

Grade: 88

Backstage in his office we see Vince McMahon when someone knocks on his door and a messenger brings a package in. McMahon takes it from the guy and opens it. It’s a bottle of scotch wrapped in a plaid ribbon and a note that says ‘See you next week.’ McMahon scowls, having an idea who this is from.

Grade: 76

JR and the King then hype the upcoming WrestleMania 14 card.

Buried Alive Match

Grade: 100

Quote:

Austin hits the ring and Vader is all over him, battering him around the ring but Austin makes a comeback, ducking a clothesline off an Irish Whip and coming back with a Thesz Press, raining down right hands on Vader. Austin keeps Vader on his back with an elbow drop from the second rope and gets a two count. Vader gets back to his feet and floors Austin with a thudding clothesline but Austin rolls out when he tries to do a splash and Vader crashes with a thud. Vader struggles to get up to his feet and when he does he turns and catches a boot to the gut followed by a Stone Cold Stunner. Austin makes the cover and gets the win.

Winner by Pinfall: Stone Cold Steve Austin
Grade: 78

Austin is standing up on the second rope, arms in the air as he celebrates his win but he doesn’t see Mike Tyson jump the barrier behind the announcers and climb into the ring. When Austin hops down he turns directly into a right hand that floors Austin. Tyson stands over Austin, pointing down at him and talking trash as the show goes off the air.

March 1998 Week 2

Nitro: 21.66 (16,247,300 viewers)

Raw: 19.70 (14,778,720 viewers)

*There is considerable thought to having Kane go over the Undertaker at WrestleMania and set up a rematch perhaps for Summerslam. It’s worth noting that the Undertaker has never lost at WrestleMania but that winning streak is said to not factor into any creative plans.

*Sunny’s contract will be coming up soon and there is real debate inside WWF if her good looks and sex appeal are worth the trouble she seems to cause. No word on how a possible departure would affect the Impact Players who seem to be floundering at the moment.

*WWF has brought in several veterans in recent weeks as seen this week with the return of the Quebecers with the intent of having current talent learn in the ring. Paul Diamond, Tatanka, and others will let the next generation learn from some of the best in ring talents of a generation according to company officials. Other than random spots on B-shows, it’s unlikely any of these veterans will be on RAW or pay per views.

*WWF is considering creating a new title perhaps as early as this summer which reportedly will be centered around hardcore wrestling.

*While WrestleMania 14’s lineup is set, sources high up in WWF say WrestleMania 15’s possible main event is “startling,” “a game changer,” and as one McMahon confidant described it, “no joke, the biggest match of all time.”

*WWF executives had a long meeting with USA network executives related to a segment on this upcoming week’s RAW. No word on details at this time but they apparently felt it best to give the network a heads up.

*While most media analysts and wrestling dirtsheets are chalking up Tyson’s involvement in WrestleMania 14 as a standard one-off ala Lawrence Taylor, some say there is a chance that with Tyson’s boxing future in limbo especially in the mecca of Las Vegas that he may have a longer tenure in the WWF. Certainly not full time but a multiple event contract is not out of the realm of possibility.

*WCW is gearing up for the Spring Break Out show this Monday in a big way. WCW personalities have been on MTV promoting the show with Hall, Nash & Syxxx appearing on "MTV's Springer Break" as part of their spring break programming. Other WCW stars including Booker T, Rey Mysterio & Eddie Guerrero have appeared on MTV programming that was pretaped prior to this weekend.

*WCW has a special house show in Canada titled "Canadian Invasion" that will happen on Saturday. The show is expected to be headlined by Bret Hart. Following the show, the entire crew will then fly directly to Panama City Beach for this Monday's show.

*The plan is for the Bret Hart vs Diamond Dallas Page #1 contender match to open Nitro.

*WCW sources have said that Hollywood Hulk Hogan is NOT the expected surprise return that has been promised by Eric Bischoff. But, Hogan has been spotted in and around town this week and is expected to meet with Eric Bischoff on Sunday.

*Speaking of Eric Bischoff, he and Scott Steiner got into a loud argument following Nitro last week. Apparently Rick Steiner was injured in a minor injury to his ankle during the tag team title match with The Hardys. Scott reportedly blew a gasket backstage and screamed at Bischoff to fire the young team. Bischoff refused and reminded Scott Steiner that he injured Booker T at SuperBrawl in the course of the match where Harlem Heat had to retire. Booker's injury was also minor and no heat was placed on Scott and from WCW's perspective, Scott completely overreacted. He stormed out of the show and we are told a meeting is planned between Bischoff and Scott Steiner before Nitro this week in Panama City Beach.

*The Nasty Boys have recently come to terms on a new deal with WCW as part of the new push to revitalize the tag team division.

*Bunkhouse Buck impressed WCW enough that the expectation is that they will offer him a contract to return full time to the company.

*The recent talent swap between WCW and New Japan has been cooled for a bit before WCW has the Japan Supershow in April.

Match #1: Diamond Dallas Page vs Bret "Hitman" Hart with the Winner Challenging for the World Heavyweight Title in the Main Event at Spring Stampede

[Following the match, as Hart celebrates Page gets up and stands behind Hart. We've seen this before as Page sizes someone up for the Diamond Cutter and when Hart turns around he flinches, clearly expecting it. But Page doesn't move for a moment or two and when he does it's to offer his hand. Hart shakes it and then hugs him to the delight of the crowd. Team WCW is united headed into Uncensored and Page supports Hart challenging for the title at Spring Stampede.]

Hour #2 kicks off with:

[Bischoff comes out with a black neck brace on and winces as he walks but he is all kinds of arrogant. He slaps some hands as he gets into the ring. He tells us how nice it is to be king. Here he is, standing in the ring of the company that he runs, while the company that he created is tearing up the wrestling industry. He is on a program that was his vision and at an event that he created.

And here tonight, in the main event of that program, the Wolfpac - the nWo - will take back their world title because Kevin Nash will challenge for the WCW World Heavyweight Title here tonight. Now, so far, no one has seen the chump champion. And there really aren't a whole lot of rafters for he to be hiding from here tonight so, heres the deal. Sting will either show up to lose that title like a man or he will lose the title like a loser. Because this match IS sanctioned, it WILL happen and should Sting fail to show up..the referee will disqualify him and award Kevin Nash the World Heavyweight Title.

But, thats here tonight. No matter what happens in the main event tonight, there is another main event coming up in 12 days at Uncensored. Its the New York City Street Fight between Sting, Hart and Page against Nash, Hall and Syxxx. New York City? Damn, that's good. And that match needs a big attraction because New York City is a major media market.

And who better to attract all of the attention that weekend than a major star. So, ladies and gentlemen, please allow me to introduce to you, the special manager of the Wolfpac at Uncensored....the Bad Boy of the NBA....welcome back to the nWo...DENNIS RODMAN!

Rodman comes out and he is surrounded by beautiful spring break women. Behind him are Nash, Hall and Syxxx and they are also with women of their own. Rodman gets into the ring as does the Wolfpac and its an nWo party in the ring as they fling beach balls at the crowd. Bischoff says, now *that* is an entrance. And in 12 days, the nWo, will decimate WCW's heroes. And they will it in style.

Because when you're nWo.. you're just...(Rodman finishes) toooo sweeeeeeet!

The boys all celebrate and high five as the announcers are disgusted and say the ante has been raised. Nitro will return in just a moment LIVE on TNT. ]

[Booker T is with Mean Gene at the Nitro set and Booker tells us that Scott Steiner has shown himself to be a coward. He has proven himself to not be a man, attacking people from behind and winning matches like a sucka. But in 13 days at Uncensored, there is no place to run. There is no place to hide. Scott Steiner is going to have to meet Booker T in the ring and on that night the world will see what a fruit booty he is. Now can you dig that? Gene tells us to stay with us because when we come back Da Man, Goldberg, will team with The Hardys against the Flock and still to come, apparently, is the World Heavyweight Title match.

Nitro is coming right back, don't you dare go away.]

Nitro returns to Kevin Nash on his way down to the ring. He is looking around for Sting but is completely cocky as he steps into the ring.

In a replay of last week's main event, Bischoff is out and he is ordering the ref to start the count as Sting doesn't appear to be there. Suddenly there is a loud noise and a fierce wind begins to blow.

At the six count, the rotors of a helicopter can be heard and Sting's music begins playing. Nash and Bischoff look up and see Sting in a helicopter that has emerged from the darkness.

The helicopter hovers over the ring sending mats and ring skirts flying everywhere and nearly blows Bischoff over the railing and into the pool. Sting repels down as the announcers tell us "Incredibly, Sting has arrived. The title match is on. We have to take our final commercial break - stay with us for the World Heavyweight Title LIVE on Nitro."

[Following the conclusion of the match, that attack is the cue as the rest of the Wolfpac run down to the ring and begin to attack Sting. This brings out Bret Hart and DDP and the fight is on.

Rodman proves the difference maker as he sneaks up and wallops Page, then Hart and then Sting again just as Sting fights back.

We see a recap video from last week specifically highlighting Owen Hart’s ‘kidnapping’, the Legion of Doom being assaulted by a pair of huge newcomers, the interview JR did with Mike Tyson and then Tyson’s surprise appearance and knockout of Stone Cold Steve Austin

Grade: 90

Immediately we’re taken to the back where a massive brawl is underway. At it’s center is none other than Stone Cold Steve Austin and Mike Tyson. It seems half the locker room along with security and WWF officials are trying to pry them apart. They finally succeed in seperating them, aiding Tyson back to a waiting limo which speeds off when he’s placed inside. The look on Austin’s face confirms that he’s accepting Tyson’s challenge for WrestleMania to the surprise of no one.

Grade: 91

Owen Hart comes down to the ring. He says what DX did to him last week was cowardly and exposed them for what the world already knows. They’re scared. They know at WrestleMania he’s going to take that WWF Championship from Shawn Michaels so they did the worst thing they could think of to make him press charges and cancel the match. Well that won’t work there’s nothing they can do to make him throw away the opportunity he’s been waiting his whole life for!

Suddenly the Titantron flickers on and we see mostly darkness but the camera in first person mode in nearing a house. Shawn Michaels and Triple H are the narrators, trying to keep their voices down but almost can’t stop laughing. Michaels apologizes and says he and Hunter won’t be there tonight because they’re off doing a little recon…some opposition research for WrestleMania. As they near the house a few lights are on and the camera peeks into the window and through the blinds we see a blonde woman tucking a little boy into bed. She kisses the top of his head and leaves the room. They walk around the house and peer into another window which appears to be a bedroom.

By now Owen is livid but he’s also helpless as DX watches the same blonde woman walk into the room, and unaware of their presence begins picking out a nightgown. Like two twelve year old boys they snicker and make some remarks. As she appears to begin undressing, the camera turns to Michaels up close and he says that Owen can say whatever he wants but tonight DX is gonna do…what they do best. We hear Triple H off camera giving play by play of presumably the woman undressing. Then the video cuts out.

Owen makes a beeline for the back as JR says how completely disgusting these two are.

Grade: 100

Quote:

The match is a brawl between the Blackjacks and the Sandman but when Van Dam gets the tag his energy takes over, and he’s zipping around the ring with aerial moves, dropkicking Windham off the apron and then hitting a flipping senton on Bradshaw. Van Dam is feeling it, but as he climbs to the top, Jeff Jarrett runs down and shoves him off the top causing a disqualification.

Winners by Disqualification: Sandman and Rob Van Dam

Overall: 70

Rich joins his crew as the four of them put the beatdown on Sandman and Van Dam as Cornette barks instructions. As the NWA continues the attack, Taz jumps the railing and gets into the ring, squaring up with the NWA.

First Windham, then Bradshaw, then Rich all take a run at him and one by one he suplexes them out of his way. When it’s just him and Jarrett the latter ditches to the outside as Taz calls him back to face him man to man.

Grade: 56

Backstage, Vince McMahon is talking to Brisco and Patterson when Owen Hart comes up grabbing McMahon by his collar. Hart is irate and says that he wants DX next week and if any of them so much as look at his family Vince won’t have to worry about WrestleMania because he’ll break both their legs on the spot. He releases McMahon and storms off as the yes men attend of McMahon.

Grade: 85

Quote:

Goldust weathers the early offense from Chainz and then takes over after hitting an low blow unseen by the referee. He taunts Chainz by running his hands over him and pursing his lips as he works Chainz over. When Goldust picks up Chainz and puts him in position for the Curtain Call and takes a moment to sway his hips before hitting the finishing move for the win.

Winner by Pinfall: Goldust

Overall: 72

Goldust is making seductive gestures towards Marlena and doesn’t see Ahmed Johnson, sporting an medical eyepath run down to the ring. When Goldust turns around Johnson blasts him with a series of right hands, knocking him back into the corner. He whips Goldust across the ring to the other corner and Goldust flips up over the turnbuckles to the outside. As Marlena attends to her man, Johnson stands tall in the ring, still ready for more fighting.

Grade: 67

JR and Lawler talk about the craziness surrounding the Undertaker and Kane in the last months going back to the summer. Lawler says the Undertaker is in deep trouble, like 6 feet deep because Kane is going to bury the Undertaker no doubt about it. JR says he’s seen the Undertaker fight a lot of big matches but never against anyone like Kane. He questions if for once Lawler may be right.

Grade: 89

Paul Bearer and Kane are in a cemetery. As Bearer speaks, Kane is in the background already digging half way down into a grave. Bearer says that in two weeks the Undertaker will meet his demise at the hands of his brother Kane. He says this has been a long time coming and that is why they’re in that cemetery. You see these are the graves of the parents of the Undertaker and Kane and at WrestleMania Bearer wants them to have a front row seat when Kane sends the Undertaker down into the lake of fire where he belongs and once and for all he’ll be gone! Gone!! Gone!!! He laughs maniacally as Kane keeps digging.

Grade: 93

As the second hour begins we’re shown a replay of the brawl between Steve Austin and Mike Tyson. JR tells us that next week the two of them will be in the same building just a week before WrestleMania and he isn’t sure how wise that is given what we saw tonight. Lawler says if Austin sticks his chin out again Tyson is gonna knock his block off again.

Grade: 91

Speaking of Austin we see him backstage and he barges up to McMahon’s office, kicking in the door. He starts screaming at McMahon saying that he knows he’s behind this but he’s going to cost Vince a lot of money. Say goodbye to the big WrestleMania moment because next week he’d gonna send Mike Tyson to the hospital…or the morgue. McMahon, wide eyed,
tells Austin it’ll be the last thing he ever does.

Grade: 93

Quote:

All of the people in the match get a share of the action and the momentum goes back and forth. Finally we get Landry tagged in versus Mero and the two begin going at it. Mero ditches to the outside and Landry follows with Mero slowing him down by literally throwing Sable in Landry’s path. When they get back in the ring, Mero takes advantage by being the first in. The Outlaws get tagged in and they work him over but Landry makes the tag to Phinneas and he begins to clean house until Mero hits a low blow. It’s a perfect setup for the Outlaws to hit a spike piledriver for the win.

Winners by Pinfall: The New Age Outlaws and Marc Mero

Overall: 65

We’re shown a replay of last week when the Awakening attacked the LOD in an ambush set up by Rick Rude. JR tells us that LOD only recently were released from the medical facility but they’re not medically cleared to compete.

Grade: 55

Quote:

The Headbangers has two chances to win this match, slim and none and slim no-showed the event. As soon as the bell rings the behemoths from the Awakening are in charge and JR lets us know that one of them is named Mike Awesome and the other may look familiar as he used to be called Adam Bomb but his name is Bryan Clarke and he’s known as one of the most unpredictable men in the business. Mosh and Thrasher don’t get in one move of offense and just get decimated until Mosh is positioned for a powerbomb by Awesome when Clarke comes in and catches him on the way down delivering a neckbreaker as well. Rude just smirks at ringside during the whole match and gets in the ring to raise his men’s hands when the bell rings.

Winners by Pinfall: The Awakening

Overall: 52

JR and Lawler go over the updated card for WrestleMania 14 including Goldust and Ahmed Johnson and the huge event of Stone Cold Steve Austin versus Mike Tyson. JR reminds us that contrary to some opinions WrestleMania is indeed sold out and the only way to see it is live on Pay Per View. Lawler says they say don't believe everything that you hear and that's really true when it comes to Scheme Gene!

Buried Alive Match

Grade: 90

Backstage we see the Nation walking in unison as the Rock heads to the ring for his match versus Owen Hart.

Grade: 80

Quote:

From what happened earlier in the night Owen Hart is a man possessed, attacking the Rock and the other members of the nation on their way down the ramp. He throws the Rock into the ring and begins teeing off on him with right hands, followed by a series of dropkicks, clotheslines, and other high energy moves. When the Rock takes a powder to the outside to talk to D’Lo, Owen smashes their heads together and pulls the Rock back into the ring. The Rock begins to make a comeback and takes the match over with the aid of his other members of the Nation who distract and give a cheap shot every time they can. Suddenly Mankind carrying a chair makes his way down the ramp. The Nation blocks the way but a few swings send D’LO, Kama, and even Farooq to the floor. The Rock sees this as he’s midway through the People’s Elbow. Owen makes use of the distraction and pulls the Rock in for a schoolboy while he’s fixated on Mankind for the win.

Winner by Pinfall: Owen Hart

Overall: 88

The Rock sees Mankind coming for him and all the members of the Nation on the ground. As Mankind slides in the ring, the Rock ditches out the other side and runs around the ring and up the ramp with Mankind on his heels.

Grade: 87

Vince McMahon is in his office when you can hear the door open and he looks up with a scowl. The camera pans over and we see why.

Rowdy Roddy Piper walks over, offering a hand to McMahon to tentatively shakes it before asking what the hell Piper wants with him. Piper says it’s not him he wants. You see, when he came back to the WWF with a very lucrative contract there was a provision in there and he asks McMahon if he remembers what it is and the look on McMahon’s face says he does. Piper continues that he is invoking that clause which allows him to cash in a one time only guarantee of a WrestleMania match against an opponent of his choosing…and he’s choosing Triple H. McMahon begins to protest but Piper says if he has a problem with it, he can take it up with his lawyer before turning and walking out. As the show ends, JR questions how Triple H will respond and Lawler says Piper better pay up his life insurance because his family may need it.

March 1998 Week 3

Nitro: 21.80 (16,352,520 viewers)

Raw: 20.73 (15,549,730 viewers)

*The biggest news coming out of WCW Spring Break Out is the now expected departure of Scott Steiner from WCW. As reported last week, tensions between him and WCW management hit a boiling point after several months of strained relations. A meeting was held prior to Nitro between Steiner and Eric Bischoff and an agreement was put in place for Steiner to depart WCW. The announced match between Scott Steiner and Booker T for Uncensored will take place but no word yet on what will happen to the tag team titles. For what its worth, Rick Steiner is expected to remain in WCW. As for the future of Scott, internally WCW expects Steiner to receive an offer from the World Wrestling Federation.

*WCW is excited about the finalized card for Uncensored which will air from the sold out Nassau Coliseum in Long Island the night before Wrestlemania. The expectation is of the two announced title matches (the Cruiserweight title and the US title) at least one title will switch hands at the ppv.

*WCW was very happy with the reception to WCW Canadian Invasion from Quebec. The special house show drew just under 10,000 fans for what is WCW's first Canadian show since Bret Hart came into the company. They feel it is a positive sign for Spring Stampede which will air from Calgary. WCW will run Nitro in Canada the night after Spring Stampede and ticket information will be announced soon for that event.

*For those wondering why the Television Title hasnt been mentioned in months or defended, it is because WCW has made the decision to quietly retire the title. Eric Bischoff feels that the Television Title is too retro and too much like the old Jim Crockett days of the company and with four titles, the company is on solid ground.

*Ric Flair's appearance at Canadian Invasion was a one time appearance for now. There aren't creative plans for Flair's return to television in the near future.

*Expect The Giant to return to WCW storylines in the near future after being off television for most of this year.

*Goldust was injured during the attack by Ahmed Johnson on RAW and then exacerbated it during a match on Shotgun Saturday Night’s taping against the Patriot. He’ll be missing WrestleMania which comes as a crushing blow but is expected back in a few weeks.

*With a total of nine matches for WrestleMania 14, WWF has let the pay per view providers know the show may be running about 3 ½ hours. The main event is expected to go at least 25 minutes.

*The next Hell in a Cell match is penciled in for June’s King of the Ring event in Pittsburgh. No word yet who may be in it.

*Ken Shamrock’s MMA schedule won’t allow him to return to about Summerslam.

*Expect to see some roster moves both incoming and outgoing following WrestleMania through April and May.

*The WWF will be announcing a new Commissioner on the RAW after WrestleMania.

Episode #131 - "The Final Countdown to Uncensored"

Uncensored is this Saturday from New York City, dont miss the final Nitro before Uncensored.

Last week on Nitro, Sting defeated Kevin Nash in a title defense but the night would belong to the Wolfpac. At the conclusion of the evening, Dennis Rodman (who had returned to the nWo earlier that night) used Sting's own baseball bat to down WCW's heroes. With five days remaining until the night of no rules and the six man main event street fight, how will Sting, Bret Hart & DDP respond?

Speaking of Hart & Page, they had a classic last week to determine the #1 contender to the WCW title. That victory went to the Hitman but this week on Nitro, they have to put that aside when Bret Hart & DDP team up against Syxxx & Scott Hall in the main event. With so much on the line in NYC, what will happen when these four stars collide?

In five days, Scott Steiner will take on Booker T at Uncensored but, the Steiners will be in action this week on Nitro when they have to defend their tag team titles against the new pairing of Finlay & Dave Taylor. Will Scott Steiner walk into Uncensored still tag team champion? Find out on Nitro.

In five days, there will be a Cruiserweight title battle royal where the winner will challenge Rey Mysterio that night for the title. This Monday on Nitro, Guido will take on Heavy Metal to show who has the momentum heading into Uncensored.

Also in action: Goldberg & Jeff Hardy vs Kidman

Its the go home week for Uncensored. Don't miss WCW Monday Nitro LIVE and only on TNT.

Confirmed Matches:
Bret Hart & Diamond Dallas Page vs Scott Hall & Syxxx

WCW World Tag Team Titles: The Steiner Brothers vs Finlay & Dave Taylor

WCW Monday Nitro - Episode 131
Monday Week 4, March 1998 - The MARK of the Quad Cities- Moline, Illinois

[Nitro opens directly to a live shot of the crowd and then to the Wolfpac's theme as the arena comes to life. A large limousine that is painted black and red and is complete with a pool in the back of it, comes out. In the pool is Hall, Nash, Syxxx and Rodman and they are surrounded by models. Bischoff is sitting on the hood smoking a cigar as the nWo celebrates and heads to the ring. One by one they all depart and enter the ring clearly in a celebratory mood.

In the ring, Bischoff says to give it up for the uncrowned World Champion, Big Sexy Kevin Nash. Everyone bows to him while he hams it up. Bischoff says he used the term uncrowned because the nWo does not have the World Title...yet...but that will soon change.

And that change will come this Saturday at Uncensored.

You see, the NBA Bad Boy Dennis Rodman is guarding the Wolfpac's side to ensure a fair fight and to make sure Page, Hart and Sting can't weasel out of this NYC Street Fight. Because when the Wolfpac wins that match- and win it they will - at a time of our choosing...the World Title comes home. Because a new stipulation has been added and that says that when the nWo wins this Saturday, we get to have a title match at a time and place of our choosing.

So tonight is part 1. Tonight, Syxxx Pac and Scott Hall smoke Page and Bret and take them apart. And then on Saturday, we begin the next phase of our hostile takeover. And WCW? Bite me. There's nothing you can do to stop it. Because the Wolfpac is....(Syxxx: ) Just (Hall: ) Too (Nash: ) Sweeeet.

The guys high five and they all climb back into the limo and head to the back. The announcers tell us to stick around, the proper introduction to Monday Nitro will happen after this time out.

Sure, this Saturday one would think that they hold all the cards - they have Bischoff in their corner, they have Rodman in their corner, they win a title match if they beat us. But, we're no fools.

Bret grabs the mic and says that in every war you need an equalizer. Someone that has an emotional stake in the battle. Someone that wants to win just as much as you do. And we have that person. The nWo wants to assert dominance...boys...we promise you - we have the counter.

Hall, Nash, Syxxx and Rodman look scared to death as Jericho is back and he must be the backup Hart and Page said they had. Jericho walks slowly towards them as Hart, Page and Sting come up the aisle. Trapped, the Wolfpac all jump over the barricade and escape through the crowd. As Nitro fades away we see the nWo running for their lives as team WCW has some back up of their own. ]
