Default [OTE:Flashpoint] WCW 2018 - Better Than Ever

In the history of professional wrestling, there has been no one more powerful than Vincent Kennedy McMahon. For nearly two decades now, Vince McMahon has comfortably sat atop the throne of professional wrestling. Unchallenged, uncontested, but because of this, some would say that Vince McMahon has become complacent. Some would say that if only there was someone who could bring the fight to Vince McMahon once again, maybe then the business would hit another great boom period.

Over two decades ago, it wasn't always like it currently was. Over two decades ago there was a different king sitting on the throne. A man born in Detroit, Michigan that was nothing more in the wrestling industry as an announcer. He was a man that showed with the right attitude and the right mindset, anyone could go after the throne. He created competition in a previously unimaginable way. That man was Eric Bischoff, the man who for eighty-three weeks in a row defeated Vince McMahon and the World Wrestling Federation.

With World Championship Wrestling suffering problems that were well over Eric's head, it appeared that Eric had been burnt out for the last time in 2001. He disappeared from the wrestling world, never to be seen or heard from again at least in this world. Eric moved to the television world with reality programming, making his money in that world and the wrestling business moved on without him. The Macho Man Randy Savage bought the company Eric once ran, and with WCW in the Macho Man's possession the Monday Night War died. The competition in professional wrestling died. More importantly, however, the biggest boom period in the history of the business died.

Fast forward to current day, and with Macho Man Randy Savage giving more and more power to World Championship Wrestling's CEO, Jeff Jarrett, it appears that change is on the horizon. When Jeff took over to roles of CEO back in the year 2015, he appointed Stampede Wrestling's head booker, Scott D'Amore. However, as of May 2018, that has once again changed. The rumors were on the internet for months now, Jarrett wanting to try and create another boom period yet Scott's vision was just not getting that done. With the utmost respect, in late March, Jeff relieved Scott of his booking duties and for the past two months handled things himself. Jeff, however, is no booker, he knew that he was not the right man for the job and instead of risking his position in the company by turning the company belly up, he decided to ring up an old boss.

The month is May, the year 2018, twenty years removed from the incredible eighty-three-week streak that World Championship Wrestling had over the WWE. Jeff Jarrett, however, wants that to all change. Without his finger on the pulse, Randy Savage has no clue what Jeff Jarrett is currently pulling but as of the last day of April, World Championship Wrestling has appointed a new head booker.

There is only one man that can beat Vince McMahon, there is only one man with the history and the knowledge of what it takes. For the first time in seventeen years, Eric Bischoff is back and he's better than ever.

Bully Ray vs. "The Ace" Hiroshi Tanahashi
This could go either way depending on how things go, but I want to go with Tanahashi picking up the W for this one.

Cezar Bononi vs. Cory Weston
It's still blowing my mind that Cezar is being used in such a big spot, but I'm going to say he'll pick up the W in this one.

Sonjay Dutt vs. TJ Wilson
Both Sonjay and TJ are admittedly two of my favorites, in a match that could go either way it's hard to pick just one. But, I'm going to go with TJ picking up the W here.

Brett Matthews vs. Mr. Anderson
Another match that I'm half and half on, but I'm going with the champ' retaining in this one.

Main Event
nWo Elite wins this one.

Allie vs. Charlotte Flair
This is a match I would pay big bucks just to see live. But, I really want to see my girl Allie pick up the W here.

WCW SIGNING FORMER CRUISERWEIGHT CHAMPION? SECOND GENERATION WRESTLER POTENTIALLY SIGNING TOO?
BY DALTON DERRICK | @PHOENIXNITRO | MAY 6, 2018 03:04 PM

It's being heavily rumored that World Championship Wrestling has been in serious negotiations with former Cruiserweight Champion, Eddie Guerrero. It seems that Rey Mysterio along with Eddie's former tag team partner, Pentagon Jr., has been a huge help in getting the deal negotiated. Eddie is currently working for Asistencia Asesoría y Administración down in Mexico as a road agent. We do not know much about what his role would be in the company, but it is worth noting that his daughter, Shaul Guerrero, has also started following WCW on social media and they've followed her back. It wouldn't be too surprising if Shaul Guerrero, who is actively competing in her own right, also got signed because of this

In other news, STARDOM competitor, and second generation star Rachael Ellering has told STARDOM that her current tour will be her last. We're speculating that she has signed a deal with World Championship Wrestling as well. With an ever-growing women's division, it is not surprising that the daughter of legendary manager Paul Ellering has signed on the dotted line. Her father of course working in Florida for WWE's developmental company, NXT as a manager. Could we possibly see Paul coming with her?

After following your PROGRESS diary over on SP, I have to say your layout skills and Photoshop skills have vastly improved, my man!

I'm not going to make any predictions this go round, as I feel like it is too early to do so diary-wise, but this should be awesome!

Loved all the series you did on YT once upon time and love the format this diary has it's also great to see a Flashpoint Diary almost immediately.

Bully Ray vs. "The Ace" Hiroshi Tanahashi
I'm saying Bully Ray but not clean.

Cezar Bononi vs. Cory Weston
Crazy where Cezar is in this mod interested how you'll use him.

Sonjay Dutt vs. TJ Wilson
So good to see TJ wrestling in this universe highly bias but wanting one of my boy's to pick up a W

Brett Matthews vs. Mr. Anderson
Playing it pretty save saying Brett won't drop the belt on the 1st show but you never know.

nWo Elite Vs Edwards & Blueprint Of Perfection

Allie vs. Charlotte Flair
I have Charlotte but can see Allie putting in a great effort and maybe stealing a win from the current champ.

thinking of starting a Flashpoint Diary myself, guess WCW was never on my list due to their horrid product but it should be interesting to see how you book them.

Tanahashi - DQ
Bononi
Wilson
Mr Anderson - idk, I expect you to start with a bang.
Edwards & BOP
Allie - Non Title Action = Challenger Wins

Monday Night Nitro Results, May Week One, 2018 : Full Details

Eric Bischoff is back and better than ever
Not only did Monday Night Nitro kick off with the debut of a new opening sequence featuring "Evolve" by Shinedown, but it also kicked off with one hell of a return! Eric Bischoff returned to World Championship Wrestling for the first time in nearly seventeen years, and he returned with a bang. Not only did Easy E inform us that starting tonight he has returned to power here in the company, but that he also is here to return his company back to it's former glory! Eric made several promises to the audience that he would not let "Titanic hit the iceberg anytime soon". In the midst of his return, Eric Bischoff also announced the main event of WCW's upcoming pay-per-view, Slamboree! WCW World Heavyweight Champion Eddie Edwards will defend his championship against "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles. Just as this announcement was made, Eric came firing off with yet another match announcement but this one happening much sooner. Here tonight in our main event we will see nWo Evolved(AJ Styles and the WCW World Tag Team Champions, Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson) take on the WCW World Heavyweight Champion Eddie Edwards and The Blueprints of Perfection(J.C. Hennig and Matt Morgan) in six man tag action! We were promised an impact, and Eric certainly is making his power known in a hurry!
Segment Length: Eight minutes
Segment Rating: 75 B-

Brett Matthews def. Mr. Anderson to retain the WCW Television Championship
Long Island's favorite son Brett Matthews put his Television Championship on the line here tonight against Mr. Anderson. From bell to bell these two men went at it, the champion really finding himself in deep trouble early as Mr. Anderson was looking to do everything in his power to pull away with the championship. It didn't take long for Anderson to use underhanded tactics including a low blow while the referees back was turned! The longer the match went on however, the more heart that the champion showed and with the crowd behind him Brett Matthews made the comeback! After a big Rough Rider, Brett Matthews came away with the pinfall victory to successfully retain his championship!
Winner: Brett Matthews
Finish: Rough Rider followed by a pinfall in ten minutes and twenty eight seconds
Match Rating: 58 C-

Johnny Nitro talks about his upcoming Thunder match against Nicky Nemeth
It is no secret at all the Monday Night Delight Johnny Nitro has been talked about in high regard. He has the look, he has the talent, and he has the presence to lead World Championship Wrestling into the future. The Icon Sting even said so himself, but with Sting on the shelf from a vicious attack by Nicky Nemeth, you can only assume that this Thursday on Thunder things will get even more heated! The Nitro Girl, Taya Valkyrie promised that her man will be victorious against Nicky Nemeth come Thunder, and the power couple said that "Nicky Nemeth is going to learn the hard way, there's only one franchise player in World Championship Wrestling and you are looking at him. The Monday Night Delight will go down as the greatest future this company has, and it all starts this Thursday Night when I defeat Little Nicky for good." Can Johnny Nitro secure his future? Tune in this Thursday on Thunder to find out!
Segment Length: Three minutes
Segment Rating: 67 C+

Cezar Bononi def. Cory Weston
The United States Champion, Cezar Bononi was in non title action here tonight against Cory Weston. Much to the surprise of rather nobody, Cezar handly dominated the short match. Cory barely getting much offense in if any, the most coming from an arrogant slap to start the match and that was it. Cezar dominated Cory for the next two minutes if that before finishing him off with the Chokeslam to pick up the win.
Winner: Cezar Bononi
Finish: Chokeslam followed by a pinfall in two minutes and eighteen seconds
Match Rating: 42 D

After the match the WCW United States Champion Cezar Bononi celebrated until the music of "Sweet N' Sour" Larry Sweeney hit the arena. Larry strutted out on stage with his hot pink shirt and feather boa wrapped around his neck. Those shades covered his eyes and he stood on the ramp with a look of confusion. "Hey, daddyo! I'm a little confused here, you see! When Sweet N' Sour calls you, you pick up the phone baby! So why is it that I called you Cezar, and you hung up the phone? Are you Brazilians really that stupid that you can't figure out a telephone? Whoa-whoa-whoa! Easy there Anderson Silva! Don't jump out of the ring just yet, wouldn't want you snappin' a leg!", Larry went on and on ridiculing Cezar and Brazilians in general. He made it known that he thinks it's an honest disgrace that Cezar is the current United States Champion, but he has a plan! "That's why I just got done talking to the new buckaroo boss around here, and Uncle Eric has made it officialoso' Champ! At Slamboree it will be you defending that pretty gold thang' against Sweet N' Sour Inc!", with that bombshell of an announcement we've learned not one but now two championship matches for Slamboree here in the first hour of Monday Nitro! At Slamboree the WCW United States Championship will be on the line as Cezar Bononi defends against Sweet N' Sour Larry Sweeney.
Segment Length: Four minutes
Segment Rating: 62 C

The Reintroduction of Mark Magnus, Part One
In what is part one of a three-part series, we take a closer look at Mark Magnus. Mark busted onto World Championship Wrestling's scene back in June 2013. Clips are shown of Mark Magnus defeating "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship back in August of 2013. Highlights from his feud with Kurt Angle were then shown from early 2014 over the World Heavyweight Championship, and we were left with a to be continued.
Segment Length: Three minutes
Segment Rating: 70 C+

Charlotte Flair def. Allie
Non title action here as the WCW Women's Champion Charlotte Flair is taking on everyone's favorite, Allie! If there was one major thing to take away from this match it is the heart of Allie. Even in defeat, she took the Women's Champion to her limits. Nearly three times in the match we thought Allie had the upset in the bag, but the ever-resilient Charlotte Flair continued to kick out each and every time. The third near fall from Allie was only stopped by a lucky foot on the rope, Charlotte barely surviving otherwise. When it was all said and done however it was the Women's Champion who picked up the victory after locking in a Figure Eight Leglock to force Allie to submit.
Winner: Charlotte Flair
Finish: Figure Eight Leglock to submit Allie in thirteen minutes and forty-seven seconds
Match Rating: 55 C-

Charlotte Flair took to a microphone after the match and as Allie limped her way up the ramp, the champion began to clap. "Ladies and gentlemen, give a warm round of applause for... The loser, Allie! Better luck next time, little girl. She learned what everyone else in the back already knows, when you step into this ring when you step into my division, you've got every opportunity to prove you're the woman of this company... but to be the woman! WOO! You've got to beat the woman, and as long as I have this championship over my shoulder or around my waist, I am the standard for this division. Which leads me to my problem, see, I've beaten every woman in the back how many times now? Where's the challenge? I need real competition because when you're this damn good, it's just too...", before she could finish her thought, however, it was the music of Beth Phoenix that cut her off! Beth walks out on the stage with a microphone already in her hand and she goes on to tell Charlotte Flair that she may be the current Women's Champion of this division, but that does not give her the right to undermine the rest of the women in the back. Charlotte instantly cut Beth off asking her who the hell does she think she is? Which Beth quickly responded back. "Well Charlotte, that's pretty funny actually, because, with the whole power change around here, there have been some promotions. I think... No wait, I know that I am Beth Phoenix... General Manager of the Women's Division! That's right, Mr. Bischoff thought it would only be right for a woman to lead his women's division and you're looking at just the right woman for the job. So about this competition problem you're having? Don't worry Charlotte, next week on Nitro we're going to find your next opponent for Slamboree with a number one contender's match! Nattie Neidhart is set to take on Tessa Blanchard!", at this news Charlotte scowled. Who would Charlotte face at Slamboree? Will it be Nattie Neidhart or will it be Tessa Blanchard? Tune in next week live on Monday Nitro to find out!
Segment Length: Nine Minutes
Segment Rating: 67 C+

TJ Wilson def. Sonjay Dutt
With the Cruiserweight Champion PAC on commentary, we kick off the second hour of Monday Nitro with cruiserweight action! TJ Wilson and Sonjay Dutt held nothing back as they faced off against one another. On commentary, PAC was asked how he would feel about facing one of these men for his Cruiserweight Championship, and his reply was simple. "I am a fighting champion, every guy in the back knows that. If either of these men wants a shot, all they need to do is earn it. I'm a fan of them both, regardless of their antics.", and those antics were clearly shown by TJ during this match. The few cheap shots he took really told the difference in this match when it was all said and done. TJ managed to secure the Dungeon Lock on Sonjay Dutt and force The Guru to tap out!
Winner: TJ Wilson
Finish: Dungeon Lock to submit Sonjay Dutt in twelve minutes and twenty four seconds
Match Rating: 50 D+

Tessa Blanchard talks about her opportunity next week
It was just a bit ago that Beth Phoenix made the announcement! Tessa Blanchard will be in action next week against Nattie Neidhart, the winner going on to Slamboree to face Charlotte Flair for the WCW Women's Championship! Tessa was able to give her thoughts to an interviewer, stating that she had been waiting for another opportunity and that this time? This time she would not let the opportunity slip away from her. Tessa claimed that it's about time a Blanchard beat a Flair, and come Slamboree that's going to be the result. Will Tessa make it through Natalya first, however?
Segment Length: Two Minutes
Segment Rating: 58 C-

Hiroshi Tanahashi def. Bully Ray
The Ace Hiroshi Tanahashi was in action here tonight against Bully Ray and boy did Bully ever bring a fight! Bruising shot after bruising shot, you'd have thought this was in the Tokyo Dome. Bully Ray was taking the offense to Hiroshi Tanahashi nearly this entire match. He was giving him everything he had, yet Tanahashi was just outlasting Bully. Stamina wise, Tanahashi had Bully beat and the further this match went, the more The Ace turned it into his favor! After a Slingblade out of nowhere, Tanahashi scaled the top rope and leveled Bully Ray with the High Fly Flow to pick up the victory here tonight in a great matchup.
Winner: Hiroshi Tanahashi
Finish: High Fly Flow followed by pinfall in sixteen minutes and thirteen seconds
Match Rating: 61 C

After the match, Hiroshi Tanahashi celebrated and shook hands with the front row fans, that was of course until one of the fans suddenly attacked Tanahashi! Over the guardrail, the man in a Rey Fenix mask came, and as the mask was snatched off the attacker revealed themselves to be Drew McIntyre! Commentary went wild, highlighting the fact that Cody Rhodes, the man that is calling himself The Ace of Professional Wrestling following his upset win over Tanahashi in WCW, is Drew McIntyre's tag team partner. The two forming the duo dubbed The Elite, and right now Drew was laying an elite level beating on Tanahashi, using anything in the ringside area at his disposal. The final attack came as he leveled Tanahashi with a Claymore Kick that sent The Ace railing back into the steel steps. The segment ending with Drew posing tall over Hiroshi Tanahashi, clearly, this was a setup by Cody Rhodes. It just had to be!
Segment Length: Six Minutes
Segment Rating: 64 C

nWo Evolved(AJ Styles, Doc Gallows, and Karl Anderson) def. Eddie Edwards and The Blueprints Of Perfection
If there was ever a definition of a wild main event, that would define tonight's main event perfectly! From start to finish nWo Evolved and Eddie Edwards, J.C. Hennig, and Matt Morgan went to war! Rarely did the two groups stay on the apron, but thankfully the referee allowed some leniency with the rulebook. Neither team was disqualified for their actions, but these two groups brawled nearly all over the ringside area and even spilled into the crowd at one point! While the WCW Tag Team Champions took advantage and took out Matt Morgan and Eddie Edwards in the crowd though, this left the former World Heavyweight Champion AJ Styles all alone in the ring with J.C. Hennig. there was just enough time for AJ to connect with the Styles Clash to pick up the pinfall for his team before the World Heavyweight Champion could make the save.
Winner: nWo Evolved
Finish: Styles Clash followed by pinfall on J.C. Hennig in sixteen minutes and fourteen seconds
Match Rating: 68 C+

Just as Eddie Edwards rolled into the ring, AJ Styles clobbered him down! Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson soon joining in and the nWo took full advantage of the numbers game! They brutalized the WCW World Heavyweight Champion, AJ picking his future opponent on pay-per-view apart and the trio stood tall over the fallen champion to end this episode of Monday Night Nitro.
