GAMMA Season 18/19 - Finals - Press Conference

This Friday the GAMMA made the announcement of the great final events of season 18/19.

Company president Mark Wallace spoke about some of the positives and negatives of the dispute model, but said he would follow suit for next season.

"We brought a few legends back to the action which was a great attraction for the public and the format of our tournament also attracted attention. The negative point would be to say that some athletes have withdrawn or are not ready for the fights next season. "

Wallace also explained the change in the structure of the tournament for the next edition.

"Yes. We will have some changes for the next edition, we will have three divisions one elite and two access."

Wallace also announced that in the week after the finals will have the announcement of the fighters and the draw of the clashes for next season that he promises to be huge.

"After we finish this season we will announce the next, the participating fighters and the draw of the two qualifying rounds."

GAMMA SEASON 19/20 - Rules and Regulations

RULES - SEASON

The season will feature seven weight divisions:

Lightweight - 155 lbs.
Welterweight - 170 lbs.
Middleweight - 185 lbs.

INJURIES AND REPLACEMENTS

GAMMA will have a pool of alternate fighters to draw from in the event that one of the fighters in each division suffers an injury that prevents him from continuing.

- Alternates will make show/win amounts and their fights will count towards the final playoff totals.

- In the event that one of the fighters is deemed ineligible for his first fight, the alternate fighter will be added as a replacement.

- In the event that the commission deems fighter A unfit to compete, the GAMMA will book an alternate fighter to compete against fighter B. In the event that there is no time to book an alternate, fighter B will be awarded a Walkover (three points) as well as his win.

MISSING WEIGHT

If an athlete misses weight for a regular season fight, they will forfeit 20 percent of their purse. The athlete will still be able to compete – contingent up other fighter agreeing – but will earn zero points for that match.

If that athlete misses weight a second time during the regular season, they will be removed from the competition for the season.

If the Athletic Commission calls off a fight – for any reason – the fighter who is unable to compete will earn zero points while their opponent, will be awarded a three points.

Walkover example: Fighter A is facing fighter B in the first round of the regular season.

Fighter A becomes ill and is not medically cleared to fight by the state athletic commission. If a suitable replacement opponent is not secured, Fighter B will be awarded three points.

Any fighter that fails to make their contracted weight during the playoff or championship round will be ruled ineligible and removed from the competition. The next alternate will be summoned to join the season and take the fight.

SEASON SCORING

Scoring is calculated as follows (Points awarded is first number):
