Default CornellVerse Mafia - GAME THREAD

HOW TO PLAY:

- All of you have been PM’d a role, and your alignment (either CornellVerse Aligned or Mafia Aligned). The objective is to eliminate all members of the opposing alignment from the game.

- Each player has been given a role with their own special ability. Your PM will explain what it does, if you are meant to know. You don’t have to reveal what your role is to the other players, nor will I do so in my updates. Then again there is nothing to stop you, so if you feel that it may help prove your innocence, go ahead – just keep in mind that this could also backfire and help the mafia. Likewise, you may lie about who you are if you wish. If you want to use your abilities, PM me. DO NOT post it in the thread.

- The game is split into two phases, Day and Night. The game begins during the day, and all players (Mafia and Townie alike) post in the thread, deciding who to kill off. Lynching is the only way for the Townies to kill the Mafia, so be sure to examine voting patterns of your fellow players. I might also provide clues in the death write ups, but over-reliance on those is ill-advised as some may be traps.

- All voting and discussion is to occur within the thread. CornellVerse players may discuss who they think is Mafia, and Mafia members should be trying to bluff/convince/blend in, and generally try not to get voted for. To vote, post Vote: Username (in bold, so it’s easier to count). You can also change your vote, by typing Change Vote: Username. You can also choose to vote for No Lynching. You must post in the thread for you vote to be counted. You can also abstain from voting, which means I just do not include you in the number crunching.

- Elimination occurs after 48 hours, or whenever a person obtains more than 50% of the vote. In case of a tie, the latest vote will be discounted, until the tie is broken. Once a person dies, I will reveal their alignment and role.

- Night falls after somebody is executed. During this time, the Mafia can discuss who they want to kill next (using whatever form of communication appeals to them) – if anyone at all. Abilities are also used during this time. To use an ability, PM me, and I’ll PM you the outcome of the ability. If it is something serious like somebody getting killed, I will update it in the thread. If possible though, try to PM me what you want to do as soon after night falls as possible to keep things moving along at a quick pace. Once the Mafia has decided, it is up to the Mafia Don to tell me who he wants dead. If the Mafia Don dies, a new one is appointed.

- Night ends once I post who gets killed, and the cycle repeats itself. The CornellVerse players win if all Mafia members are dead, and vice versa. Remember, this is a team effort, so if you think sacrificing someone may help your cause, go ahead.

-Remember, some roles such as investigators and protectors are more valuable to the town – so try to keep them alive!

RULES:

- I know it’s the Dog Pound, but try not to postwhore in the thread anyway. Feel free to trash talk, accuse, call out other players if you want, but if you’re going to vote, at least state some kind of reason as to why you’re doing so.

- Though I can’t force you to post, I’d love to see active participation. Otherwise I’ll be a sad panda.

- Once you are dead, you stay dead, and may not participate until the game is over. You may also not advise the remaining players on what to do – besides, to prevent cheating, I will not provide the dead with any additional information than they would get if they were still alive. Of course, I’m willing to listen to your theories as to what’s going on. Likewise, I'd appreciate if those not taking part try not help those playing, though general comments on how things are going would be welcomed in the Sign Up Thread.

- Unless your role permits it, all players may not discuss game plan, your role, or alignment outside the thread. Of course, I can’t enforce this, but I believe secretly revealing information amongst each other would spoil the game, so try not to do it.

- Players are not allowed to edit their posts in this thread at all, as it allows for those who make mistakes to remove all of the evidence without any effort. Since I can't enforce this, I strongly encourage town aligned players to scrutinize any posts they notice that have been edited.

NIGHT 0

It began, as most things in life do, not with a bang… but with a wuss.

In this case, a wuss by the name of Richard Eisen. Despite having hands-down the most talented roster in the country, the man just could not take the heat. Apparently destined to be crushed underfoot by his upstart rivals at TCW, the SWF owner knew full well what the future held for his company - after simming through over 100 individual TEW games, he realized that barring a miracle his company was doomed.

With no options left to consider, Eisen did the only thing a rational man could. Internet smark sites broke the news with awe – Cornell and Eisen, meeting face to face for the first time since Tommy’s departure from SWF in ’97… and, even bigger, the topic of discussion would be a merger of the two companies into one Global powerhouse.

At SWF’s headquarters, Tommy Cornell was remarkably composed for a man who would be dead in less than ten minutes. Eisen had kept him waiting for half an hour already, but on a day like today very little could get to him. He had won! Nobody had ever challenged Richard Eisen like this before. He was about to own 50% of the biggest promotion in the world.

When he was finally allowed to enter Eisen’s office, he found him not at his desk working, but rather reclining on his veranda nursing a half-empty bottle of Johnny Walker. He looked like hell; disheveled, wild-eyed, and maddeningly intoxicated. He seemed to Cornell to be a man on the verge of collapse.

“You’re not looking so good, Dick.” he stated with a confident smirk.

Eisen smiled back. It was a truly terrible smile – an expression rife with malice and contempt. “I have a feeling pretty soon you’re going to look worse.”

Tommy chuckled. “We’re not working an angle here, Richard, and you don’t scare me. So why don’t we get down to business?”

“Business?” Eisen asked, his gaze shifting to something over Tommy’s shoulder. “You actually believed that load of horse ****? You really think I’d be partners with some limey kid who couldn’t even cut it in my company’s midcard? I didn’t think it was possible, but you’ve actually gotten even dumber since the last time we talked. The truth is…”

Distracted by Eisen’s sudden outburst, Tommy didn’t even notice the garrote tightening around his neck until it was far too late.

“I invited you here to kill you, you c0cky little bastard.”

Suddenly, Tommy knew exactly how everyone else felt when they were trapped in the Guilt Trip – he fought, but within moments he was rendered completely helpless. As his retinas turned blood red, the legendary Tommy Cornell looked up to see Richard Eisen, his most hated adversary, still smiling that damned evil smile. It was the last thing he would ever see.

SadisticBlessings is dead. He was Tommy Cornell, CornellVerse Aligned Lord And Saviour Of The Wrestling Industry.

And so it begins…

Well, I might as well be the first to post...

I will start by professing that I am a member of THE MAFIA! JK, I'm a townie, and if I wasn't, why would I say otherwise? So, that whole argument is pointless... However, I will say that I am of use to the town, but I will not say how now, so removing me will harm your chances of winning or at least spoil your chance at finding out how! (Or, I can be useless, it's up to you to decide!)

Either way, the beginning of the game is all luck. So, I say we get rid of:

VOTE: jerlito

If he's a mafia member, good! If he isn't, he's semi-trollish, so he may end up harming our cause or spoiling something! (JK, mostly, but still, my vote stands...)

Based on mjdgoldeneye's post and vote, I will follow suit. I think his vote is a double swerve therefore

Vote: Jerlito

Im not voting yet, just watching for a while. But I have my own suspicions allready through logic

Anyway just a thought, do we actually have to play in character or not?
As I know everyones been assigned one... or will that give things away if we say who we are??

Just a tad confused, lol!

All role PMs have been sent out. Sorry for the inconvenience in waiting for those of you further down the list.

As a reminder, your day phase will last 48 HOURS. Due to the difficulties in posting and getting out your roles, this will be extended slightly. The deadline for the lynch vote is 8PM EST on Saturday, June 23rd. If you are unable to come to a majority vote at that time, a No Lynch will be declared.

Have fun, and don't get too rough now.

I thought I mentioned this in the last thread, and it's sorta implied in the "how to play" guide I posted, but NO. You do not have to roleplay at all, the roles are just for flavor and to justify each of your unique abilities. You can roleplay if you wish, of course, but it's not at all necessary. This is a logic and strategy game, not a roleplaying game.

All new players would definitely do well to read the first post on how to play and rules, as I found it very helpful when I was first starting out.

Please people, do not gang up on Jerlito blindly, there is no evidence that he has done anything yet.

The three people that have voted for Jerlito so far should have the eye of suspicion pointed that them right now more than Jerlito, because scum (Mafia) especially the amateurs, tend to try to gang up on one person and persuade others to vote for them.

Now I'm not saying they ARE mafia, I'm just saying, you don't put 3 votes on a guy with no evidence unless you're looking for a quick lynch.

Exactly my thinkings, why would one person be completely singled out for no solid reason?

Im at the moment slightly suspicious on mjdgoldeneye, thinking that the whole post could be a double-bluff.
So I'll be keeping an eye on him for the moment, as thats raised my suspicions quite abit.
