I appreciate the comments and I'm very happy to have Sting back myself. I was looking for just the right time to bring him back and I believe this was it.

Also, I've got Nitro almost completely written so it will be posted tomorrow.

vs.w/

For once WCW Monday Nitro kicks off with some in-ring action as Dustin Rhodes takes on one half of the WCW Tag Team Champions, Buff Bagwell, in our opening bout. Bagwell has his tag team partner and other half of the Tag Team Champions, "The Total Package" Lex Luger, at ringside with him and Luger acts as a constant distraction for Rhodes as ringside, but even though he does receive a warning from the referee at one point, Luger is smart enough to not get himself sent to the back. This is a good match that comes to an end when Buff hits the Blockbuster on Rhodes, who walks right into it after being distracted by Luger, and Buff picks up the pinfall victory with a big time assist from his tag team partner.

Buff Bagwell defeated Dustin Rhodes at 9.32 by pinfall with a Buff Blockbuster following a distraction from Lex Luger (B-)

The reigning WCW Tag Team Champions have worked together to steal another victory and they couldn't be prouder of themselves as they celebrate in the ring--that is, until the Wolfpac music suddenly hits and the crowd goes crazy as "Big Sexy" Kevin Nash and "Macho Man" Randy Savage walk out from the back. Bagwell and Luger are long gone by the time Nash and Savage get to the ring, however, but that doesn't stop "Big Sexy" and "The Macho Man" from getting on the mic. Nash speaks first and he says that Luger and Bagwell can only run for so long because after last week him and Mach got a guaranteed Tag Team Title shot coming up at New Blood Rising and then the so called Champs won't have anywhere left to run! Nash then hands the mic to Savage who says that he can see Luger and Bagwell freaking out and they should be because they are comin' for the Tag Team Titles and at New Blood Rising...they'll get them! Ooohhh yeah!! (B+)
Quote:

We cut to the back where "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan is walking behind the Jung Dragons, still trying to apologize for what happened last week. The Dragons aren't having it, however, and they completely ignore Duggan's pleas, even going so far as to slam the door to their locker room in his face, leading to Duggan awkwardly claiming that he'll just come back later. As a dejected looking "Hacksaw" walks off down the hallway, Tony and Mike talk about the fact that Duggan's attempts at "helping" the Dragons have, so far, only led to trouble for them. (D)

Six man tag team action is up next as the WCW Cruiserweight Champion, Billy Kidman, teams up with "Sugar" Shane Helms and Alex Wright to take on Disco Inferno, Chavo Guerrero Jr. and Cash. Disco has been on a roll lately and he has a Cruiserweight Championship title shot coming up at New Blood Rising, where "Sugar" Shane Helms is also set to finally get a one on one matchup against Cash. Chavo Guerrero Jr. does a lot of the work for his team early on in this one and Mike Tenay speculates if perhaps Chavo is trying to force his way back into the title picture by picking up a win here. The match is decent with a lot of back and forth action, but in the end it is Big Smooth who proves to be the difference in this one as he takes advantage of the referee losing control of the match by entering the ring and hitting a devastating powerslam on Alex Wright, who is then easy pickings for Disco Inferno who simply has to cover his former tag team partner to pick up the win.

Disco Inferno, Chavo Guerrero Jr. and Cash defeated Alex Wright, Billy Kidman and Shane Helms at 8.21 by pinfall when Disco pinned Wright following interference from Big Smooth (C-)

A frustrated Dustin Rhodes is walking backstage, shaking his head at the way he lost his match earlier against Buff Bagwell. Dustin turns a corner and finds himself face to face with...

Crowbar and Daffney. Crowbar, looking very intense, tells Dustin that "he" is going to rise...at New Blood Rising...then, just as you might expect Crowbar to attack again, he and Daffney simply turn and walk off as Rhodes just looks confused by all of this. (D+)
Quote:

We cut to Eric Bischoff's office where Mike Sanders is trying to convince Bischoff to change his mind about going ahead with the O'Haire and Palumbo versus Jindrak and Stasiak match at New Blood Rising, saying that it doesn't have to end with a suspension, that it doesn't have to be this way. Bischoff says that he gave them their shot and they blew it so...yeah, it does have to be this way. Sanders is about to object again but Bischoff cuts him off, saying that since he has sort of patched things up with Scott Steiner since then, he might be inclined to give them another chance. Sanders looks relieved to hear it, but what this chance is all about we don't get to hear, however, as Bischoff forces the camera man out of the office before they continue their conversation. (B)
Quote:

Elsewhere in the back, "Mean" Gene Okerlund is with Hugh Morrus and the man who was revealed as Morrus' new tag team partner last week, Road Warrior Animal. Gene asks Animal about his return and Animal says that nobody knows more about tag team wrestling than he does, and he has no doubt that he and Hugh Morrus can become a great tag team in their own right. Morrus says that he can't think of a better person to learn from than one half of the legendary Road Warriors and he and Animal are looking forward to forging a legacy of their own as a team. Gene asks them about 3-Count and Animal quickly responds that if those guys got a problem with them, how about they settle it at New Blood Rising? Gene notes that the challenge has been made and sends us elsewhere. (D)
Quote:

"The Nature Boy" Ric Flair's music hits and Flair comes down to the ring for his open challenge, but before the match he calls for a mic. Flair repeats his words from last week saying that tonight is a new beginning and the night where "The Nature Boy" gets back on track. So if anyone backstage has the guts to face him then come on down because "The Nature Boy" is in a fighting mood tonight! WOOOO!!! (B-)

vs.

Flair's opponent tonight turns out to be "Screamin'" Norman Smiley and Smiley manages to frustrate Flair early on by taking him off his feet with a quick leg sweep and then busting out the Big Wiggle. The crowd loves it, but it also makes Flair angry and Norman doesn't get much offense in after that, ultimately losing the match by submitting to the Figure Four Leglock.

Ric Flair defeated Norman Smiley at 5.43 by submission with the Figure Four Leglock (C)
Quote:

Following the match we cut to the back where Mike Sanders has gathered the former Thrillers together and an uneasy truce reigns in the room as Sanders tells them that he's got exciting news. However, before we hear this news, Sanders forces the camera man out of the locker room, once again preventing everyone else from finding out just what is going on. (C-)
Quote:

"Mean" Gene Okerlund is backstage with Booker T, who will be in action later tonight against Rick Steiner with a chance to advance to New Blood Rising to face Scott Steiner for a spot as a War Games team captain on the line. Gene asks Booker about his match and Booker says that if Bischoff won't give him his one on one rematch against Jarrett, then War Games is gonna be his ticket back to the World Title picture and he's not gonna let those Steiner punks stand in his way. Booker says that he's gonna beat Rick Steiner tonight, he's gonna beat Scott Steiner at New Blood Rising and then he'll lead his War Games team to victory at Fall Brawl and claim a World Title opportunity for himself. Now can you dig that? Sucka!?! (C+)
Quote:

vs.

"The Franchise" Shane Douglas is in action next and he makes quick work of poor Jason Jett, who once again is nothing more than an easy win for his opponent. Douglas picks up the pinfall victory after hitting the Franchiser.

Shane Douglas defeated Jason Jett at 2.56 by pinfall with the Franchiser (C-)
Quote:

As Diamond Dallas Page makes his way to the ring, Tony and Mike wonder what kind of stipulation DDP is going to choose for the World Heavyweight Championship title match at New Blood Rising, a right which Page earned last week when the Insiders defeated Jeff Jarrett and Lex Luger in the main event. Once in the ring, Page gets on the mic and he immediately calls out the World Champion himself, saying that he wants to make this announcement face to face--that is, if Jarrett's got the guts to come down here.

"The Chosen One" does emerge from the back--somewhat surprisingly on his own even--and warily approaches the ring. Jarrett refuses to actually enter the ring, however, opting instead to remain at the bottom of the entrance ramp. Page calls Jarrett's run as champion a disgrace, saying that he's had to rely on help from Bischoff, Luger and Bagwell to get the job done. Well, he's gonna have to get the job done on his own at New Blood Rising because the stipulation Page chooses for their match... is to have a special enforcer present at ringside during the match. But it's not gonna be just any enforcer--it's gonna be someone Page knows he can trust, someone who will do the right thing, someone who Jarrett, Bischoff and the rest of The Chosen Ones can't get to. And Page wants that special enforcer to be......STING! (A)

After a short wait, "Seek and Destroy" hits and Sting makes his way out from the back to a great reaction from the crowd! Sting joins DDP in the ring while Jarrett runs a full lap around the ring to avoid Sting, and then heads back up to the top of the entrance ramp. In the ring, Sting gets on the mic and tells Jarrett that before he disappears into the back he should know that the Stinger plans to do everything he can to ensure a straight up one on one fight at New Blood Rising. Sting then turns to DDP and tells him that he's got his word on that and the two fan favorites shake hands in the ring.

Eric Bischoff then makes his way out form the back with a mic of his own and stands next to Jarrett at the top of the entrance ramp. Bischoff says that while he can't do anything about DDP's choice of stipulation, he can make a match of his own for next week's Nitro--which is exactly what he is going to do. Bischoff says that he won't tell Page who he'll be facing just yet, but he can tell him that the Insiders WILL have a match next week on Nitro while The Chosen Ones will have the night off. Bischoff smirks, clearly satisfied with himself, then adds that as for Sting...he'll pay the price for what he did last week in due time--"and YOU have MY word on that, Sting!" Bischoff and Jarrett then return to the back as Tony drives home the fact that Jeff Jarrett will defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Diamond Dallas Page at New Blood Rising and Sting will serve as the special enforcer at ringside during the match. (A)
Quote:

"Mean" Gene Okerlund is back again and this time he's with the Steiner Brothers, who he asks about Booker T and his words earlier. Scott says that he won't even have to think about Booker T at all because his brother is gonna take care of his punk ass tonight. Scott says that Booker ain't even in their league and he sure as hell ain't gonna beat "The Dog Faced Gremlin" here tonight--"you can bet your retirement fund on that, Gene!" The Steiner Brothers walk off as Tony Schiavone reminds everyone that Rick Steiner will face off against Booker T later tonight in our main event. (C+)

We have ourselves a Team Canada reunion in this one as Lance Storm and Mike Awesome teams up to take on "The Cat" Ernest Miller and Konnan. Konnan seems to lose his cool during this one, however, insisting on going after Lance Storm, which leaves him wide open for a huge spinebuster from Mike Awesome. Awesome and Storm isolate Konnan and wear him down until Konnan is finally able to make the hot tag to "The Cat". As "The Cat" starts to clean house...

Chris Kanyon makes his way down to ringside, much to Tony and Mike's disapproval as both men agree that Kanyon has no business being out here. As Kanyon approaches Miss Jones at ringside, "The Cat" ends up chasing Kanyon into the back, leaving Konnan alone with both Storm and Awesome. Even worse, "The Cat" is the legal man and he ends up getting counted out.

Lance Storm and Mike Awesome defeated "The Cat" and Konnan at 10.48 by count out (C+)

Before leaving the ring, Mike Awesome decides to hit the Awesome Bomb on Konnan before returning to the back, leaving Konnan completely defenseless against Lance Storm, who is looking to once again inflict damage on Konnan prior to their US Title match at New Blood Rising. But before Storm can apply the Canadian Maple Leaf this time...

Rey Misterio Jr., once again donning a mask, sprints down to the ring, driving Storm off and saving his friend from Storm's evil intentions. As Storm retreats back up the ramp, Rey watches him carefully before attending to Konnan, who is still down and out in the ring. Rey is back, but what does this mean for the United States title picture? (C-)
Quote:

"Mean" Gene Okerlund's work is never done and this time he is backstage with Kevin Nash and Randy Savage and he is looking for their thoughts on Eric Bischoff's announcement that the Insiders will be in action next week on Nitro. Nash doesn't seem too bothered by it, saying that Bischoff is gonna stack the deck like he always does, but the only reason he does that is because he knows that his guys are in trouble. Savage says that he came back to WCW to make an impact again and to capture a few more pieces of gold to add to his collection, and he and Nash are gonna start by winning the Tag Team Titles at New Blood Rising--no matter what Eric Bischoff tries to pull. As Nash and Savage walk off, Gene sends us back to ringside where our main event of the evening is coming up next. (B+)

Tony kicks things off by explaining what's at stake here; if Booker T defeats Rick Steiner he will face Scott Steiner at New Blood Rising with a War Games team captain role on the line but, as Mike Tenay points out, "The Dog Faced Gremlin" Rick Steiner is no pushover and Rick proves it by taking the fight to Booker early on after Booker was momentarily distracted by Scott Steiner at ringside. This is a fine TV main event that tells the story of Booker T fighting against the odds and always having to contend with both Scott Steiner and Midajah at ringside as they distract and interfere on behalf of Rick. Still, despite their best efforts, Booker manages to overcome the odds as he knocks "Big Poppa Pump" off the apron, then ducks a Steinerline attempt from Rick Steiner, and then Booker catches "The Dog Faced Gremlin" with a Bookend for the three count and the win. Booker T is headed to New Blood Rising!

Booker T defeated Rick Steiner at 11.44 by pinfall with a Bookend. Booker T advances to New Blood Rising to face Scott Steiner (B-)

Having picked up the win, Booker T is smart enough to quickly leave the ring before the Steiner Brothers can attempt any kind of post match attack. And with a shot of Booker T walking victoriously back up the ramp, another edition of WCW Monday Nitro comes to an end.

Final Show Rating: B+
TV Rating: 1.44
Show increased popularity in 10 regions

Good choice by DDP to put Sting in there, because WCW surely wouldn't be silly enough to try and turn him heel, right?! right?!?

Insiders - The real question is how soon will half of the NBT be heading to development.
Kanyon - Dustin's story with Crowbar goes a lot further if he keeps losing.
Ric Flair - This is a good way to both keep an aging Flair busy and build him into a bigger program.
Billy Kidman
Helms/Dragons - America's Most Jobbers
