He didn't like to be alone. Yet again, he felt isolated. Staring at the screen in front of him.

What would you do with 100 million dollars? What does money buy? It hadn't bought him friends. It hadn't bought him time.

He stared intently at the letter in front of him. ****. This one went down hard.

Randy Haute, the man behind VWA, had just resigned. Not from the company, but from his position. Maybe it was frustration? Maybe he was getting old? Two decades. Two decades in the business. He just needed time off. Plus, he isn't from here. Must be hard on him.

One problem. No one remained to take the book. Well, no one with the proper experience.

It had never failed him before. Just put his nose down, look over the books and put in the hours. That approach, that approach made him wealthy, a multi-million dollar fortune, the wealthiest man in Lucerne.

But no one wanted to hear about the wealthiest man in the seventh-largest city in Switzerland. They wanted to hear about wealthy businessmen from Zurich or Geneva.

Maybe, just maybe, they would hear the name Albert Thorp yet.

He makes a great comeback, battering the challenger from pillar to post. He picks up Cub Balowicz for the Springbrook Ram [Gory Special]...

Two imposing men charge down to the ring... SLAM! Landon throws Cub to the ground with the Gory Bomb. He goes for the pin... the large mustached hulk throws him off! Meanwhile, his partner lays into Balowicz.

The referee calls for the bell, rules the match a no-contest. Landon Mallory retains the VWA European Championship!

"You can never get too far away from home" he said. "You can never..." he continued.
It was a special night. The Roger Federer arena, the finest in his town, was open again after renovations. And he, along with the Finnish DJ Darude, were going to commemorate the festivities. Well, he would have to take the backseat to the musician.

And, also the Swiss National Handball Team, who were having a friendly exhibition in the arena. Mr. Thorp didn't mind the competition. He's used to being underestimated, but accustomed to being overlooked.

Maybe it hurt his pride. But, if Albert Thorp wasn't the underdog, it would feel weird. As if the world slipped from its natural balance.

I feel a little silly for not realizing sooner that you can click the arrows to expand the info and reveal what you've written for a section. When I saw this thread the other day I thought you had just made place holder posts, didn't realize what was up until I saw someone else had made predictions and wondered where they found the card.

See you've gotten rid of the ban on tag teams. Probably for the best, I never really liked the concept on no teams either here or in EMLL, seems like limiting yourself for no real reason.

Yey, and European Diary, I dont see a lot off tose pop in here, and its a shame as its a very good teritory to grow, Im totally hooked by your posts right now, and im playing a private game in Europe so I have my knowledge fresher and excites me more to see what happens in other European games, definetly following

Kronos vs. Ultra Fly

Kronos is a beast, and is going to squish Ultra Fly as an Insect, obviously Kronos isnt the best wrestler but has great menace and could raise to be a credible Main Event "Heel" as VWA dosent have the divide.

Lauro Giordano vs. Wild Child

I actually like Giordano a lot, maybe is because i have a predilection for Italian Workers, but in my UEW save he is doing pretty well, he Main Evented a show for the Nations Championship against Konrad Makinen in Italy, and is my fifth better match in like 3 months of gameplay.

Boris Kirayakin & Bigger Dan Ewe vs. Randy Haute & Walker Van Cleer

Haute and Van Cleer are like the Main Guys of VWA they arent losing this match, their opponents arent even on their level.

Night Spyder vs. Thunderbolt

Total Toss Up, they are pretty similar, but Im going for the more serious gimmick, I prefer serious characters but maybe thats only me.

Swiss Title Match: Jason Dempsey (c) vs. Matthew Macks

Im very tempted to say Macks takes the championship, but Im not sure,
having seen you make him main event a show means that probably you have plans for him.

Double Dutch (Frank Van Heer & Henrick Von Bon) vs. The Portuguese Men Of War (Joao Vincente & Manual Dias)

I choose this simply because Frank Van Heer has other compromises with other company so i assume you would build up the tag team that only works for you and wont ditch for other companies, also, YEAH, tag team wrestling,
the fact VWA doesnt have it is what keeps me off of supporting them and prefering UEW, but europe has good tag teams, and you could build up a good tag division with the independent circuit or pairing guys from your company.

European Title Cage Match: Cub Balowicz vs. Landon Mallory (c)

The only way Mallory will lose that championship right now is if he is snatched by 21CW, but I dont think thats the case, because I dont think he would lose it aginst Balowicz, I think it would be more belieavable to lose it to Walker Van Cleer, so I say Mallory retains

Bigger Dan Ewe & Boris Kiriyakin vs. Randy Haute & Walker Van Cleer

Jason Dempsey (c) vs. Matthew Macks
Swiss Title Match

Frank Van Heer notices immediately and complains to the referee. The heels work over Von Bon! Joao retrieves a spike and starts working over a prone Von Bon. Von Bon busts wide open, blood seeping onto the mat! Vincente tags in, and the Men of War pummel Henrick Von Bon with stiff kicks! The referee takes notice of the situation, and Dias returns to ringside. He holds Von Bon in place, covertly, but Van Heer swerves his head and Vincente nails Dias with a superkick! Dias falls from the apron!

Henrick makes the hot tag to his partner! Frank Van Heer cleans house, hitting a drop kick, Vincente stays on his feet, goes for a clothesline, and knocks Joao onto the mat! He goes to pick up his opponent… Dias, recovering on the outside… Joao hits a low blow to Vincente! Joao follows with a Pele Kick! Dias pulls Von Bon from the apron and begins pummeling him on the floor, throwing him into the barricade…In the ring, Joao pulls his opponent up into a delayed vertical suplex… and throws Frank Van Heer to the ground! Joao and Frank slowly get to their feet…

Joao gets to his feet first and knocks Van Heer to the outside with a clothesline! Van Heer collides with both Manual Dias and Henrick Von Bon! Main Event

The Champion, enters the ring, slapping the audiences hands on his way down. He hands the referee the VWA European Title, before entering the Cage. He gets up on the bottom-left turnbuckle and raises his arms, heating up the crowd.

Balowicz enters next. He shadowboxes on his way down to the ring. He enters the ring, and slides in, and flexes his big right arm. He taunts the crowd.

Landon Mallory offers the challenger a shake of hands. Cub looks at Landon Mallory and kicks him in the gut! Grabbing Mallory, he pulls the champion up for the delayed vertical suplex, holds for several seconds, and slams Landon into the ground! Cub goes for the pin – Landon Mallory threw him off! Cub repeats the move, and hits another lariat! Cub knocks him with a third lariat! Landon Mallory is down for the count!

Again, Cub Balowicz pulls Landon Mallory up, and hits him with another delayed vertical suplex! Cub hooks the leg, goes for the pin, 1…2…. No! Landon gets a shoulder up for the near fall! Landon rises to his feet, Cub puts him in another headlock, the challenger throws the champion into the ropes – and goes for the Knock Out Left Hook – Mallory rolls through! Albert Thorp just finished his meeting with Randy Haute in a conference room within the arena. Outside, he could see a small balcony, great place to have a quick smoke.

Haute was worried. In general, he thought the booking was effective, however, the changes to the product, and the upcoming "brand split" had him worried. Two separate crews, one for Swiss shows and one for European shows? That was unbroken ground.

He walks out from the office onto the balcony. He picks up a lighter, removing it from his waistcoat pocket, and pulls down the safety. "And, then, man invented fire" he thought, staring into the butane flame. He checks his left pocket. ****. He left his cigarettes in the car.

"Care for a smoke"? A hand next to him presented a cigarette, between the third and fourth knuckle.

"Ducados Rubios, imported from Spain" said the stranger. Thorp looked across at a middle-aged, athletic man, vaguely reminiscent to him, but not someone he could name. This was his lucky day.

"Much gratitude" said Mr. Thorp. "Ducados Rubios, that's my brand, can never find them around here. Gets the job done, for a cheap price". He looks over at the stranger, and looks back. Thorp lights the cigarette. He exhales a cloud of foul-smelling gas, like a geyser in the Yosemite. A cowboy with no range.

"Do I know you?" he asks the strange man, "what's your name?"

"I've been called Roger before." He says. "Good show you put on tonight. I don't watch much anymore, but even I felt something in that main event match. Growing up, we didn't have a local promotion, or even spot shows really. I had to catch UCR late at night, was my fix growing up. Always anticipating Byron to make that inevitable comeback, putting the bad guy away with the Upper Class, securing the pinfall".

"Pleased to make your acquaintance." said Thorp. "Roger" put out the cigarette. "I must be going now, I have to catch a late flight out". He discarded the withered tobacco stub in the wastebin near the door.

"Ah, good day, then." Albert said, staring into the distance. He felt a little better about his life decisions now, but couldn't quite explain it.

Prediction Contest Prize
Thanks for predicting, everyone! The person with the most correct predictions over the first four shows will get to choose the next championship title in VWA.
I'll present the more details at a later date.

I may not collapse the card in the future. I'm assuming the "spoiler" tags help with load times, though they also give the diary a unique look.

Well, yes and no. I want to introduce new things slowly. The exception being the "brand split" but that isn't an official designation "per say".

Good to hear! I think Europe in particular but the Cornell_Verse in general hasn't quite been explored. I hope to inspire others to explore it -- the industry doesn't have a strong foothold, but the spillover means European companies can quickly gain popularity.

In general, I liked your reasoning behind the predictions. Made me think hard about what booking plans I have.

The first month, of course, was the hardest month. The booker established a new routine: he ran regular live events throughout the region.

"We won't be small time anymore"
he said. EWA didn't run live events in the region, with all the best stars posted. No. Thinking out loud, Mr. Thorp states "No, EWA runs house shows, which is what we can't yet get bookings for".

On the European shows, Landon Mallory would square off with Kronos over the European Title. Bigger Dan Ewe and Boris Kiriyakin continued to feud with Mallory, and the two would run several angles hyping up their upcoming match at VWA King of the Alps.

In Switzerland, Macks was scheduled to fued with Dempsey, with Macks picking up the pinfall victory with a fast count. Macks would interact with Goldstein, with both hinting that Macks paid off the referee for the count. He'd already booked many major independent talents for the VWA King of the Alps. In particular, Konrad "Stone Cold" Mäkinen would be given a chance to shine, working as a natural foil to the veteran VWA performer and fan-favorite Thunderbolt.
