It's Monday Night, we are LIVE on TNT, and that can mean only one thing....it's time for WCW Monday Nitro, and much like last week we are opening with the Titans of Wrestling....unlike last week however, they are in anything but a good mood....

....Russo takes the microphone first, and he's not happy....he says that last week the Titan's came out here and offered Shawn Michaels the opportunity of a lifetime....the opportunity to be a part of THE number one group of professional athletes ever assembled, and no he doesn't mean WCW, he means the Titans of Wrestling....he gave Shawn Michaels the opportunity to stand side by side with greatness....to stand by the side of The Warrior....of Randy Savage....of the living Icon of professional wrestling, Hollywood Hogan....he gave Shawn Michaels the opportunity to be a part of something great, and instead he wants to play wingman to Jean Paul Levesque.....well that's fine....he can go and be best buddies with Levesque....they can stay up all night talking about boys, he can hold Levesque's hair for him when he's had too much to drink and he's vomiting in the toilet.....they can paint each other's nails, they can do whatever the hell they want........in their own time.....not on Russo's time....

"....because Shawn, if you don't have a contract with the Titans of Wrestling....if you don't have a contract with WCW....then bro, you can just stay at home and watch Nitro on TV like the millions of other losers are doing right now....because if you don't work here, then you ain't welcome here....."

....Russo says that if Michaels won't play by the Titan rules, then he can watch from the sidelines as the Titans dish out their own brand of justice.....because tonight, it's Titans Revenge, and the Titans are feeling particularly vindictive....he calls out the names of the wrestlers who came out at the end of last weeks show to prevent the Titan's from putting Diamond Dallas Page firmly in his place....he says that if they want to stick their noses in Titan business, then tonight they have to pay the Titan price.....

....and since we are (sort of) on the subject of Diamond Dallas Page, Hollywood takes the microphone to say that of all the people to win last weeks number one contender fatal four match, Hollywood couldn't think of an easier opponent that Diamond Dallas Page....he says that the Titans have been proving for months now that DDP is nothing more than a wannabe.....he WANT'S to be relevant....he WANT'S to be a star....he WANT'S to be thought of in the same breath as a Randy Savage....a Warrior.....a Hollywood Hogan.....

"....well let me tell you something brother....you can WANT to be a mega star all you want dude, but when it comes to the world of professional wrestling Hollywood Hogan is head and shoulders above the competition jack....and just like the Warrior showed you at Halloween Havoc, the Icon of wrestling, Hollywood Hogan is going to show you again at Mayhem, that you just don't belong brother....."

....and just like Dallas Page doesn't belong, Hogan says that Shawn Michaels doesn't belong either....so if the pretty boy "rocker" knows what's good for him, he'll stay far away from WCW, and far away from the Titans of Wrestling.....

....Macho takes the microphone there, and while he's always been somewhat of a loose cannon, he's clearly not taken Shawn Michaels shunning of the Titans very well either....he basically emphasises what Russo and Hogan said before him, that Michaels made the biggest mistake of his life by rejecting the Titans.....

.....and the biggest mistake is the biggest mistake, yeah, but if you show your face in WCW again, then that's a bigger mistake than your biggest mistake, yeah...."

.....Macho says that the Titans are going to erase a few mistakes tonight....the Mega Powers of Professional Wrestling are going to put a bump in the road of The Road Warriors.....the Totally Awesome Trinity are going to squash three bugs, Big Bad Buff is gonna conquer the unconquered.....and The Warrior is going to send Rikishi on the first boat back to the islands....

....Russo says that the Titans will have revenge tonight, when they make an example out of each and everyone who thought that they could stand up to the power force around here....

".....so Shawn Michaels, watch and learn bro.....and remember one thing, you're only a footnote in professional wrestling history....a footnote who only had his fifteen minutes of fame because VINCE RUSSO made it happen......in the WWF I made you....but if you keep p!ssing me off bro, it'll be in WCW that I beak you....."

....with that it looks like the Titans have made their point, and they make their way to the back....well, except for the Warrior who doesn't seem to be going anywhere.....

....Russo tells him to come on, they're done here, but the face painted Titan doesn't budge, and stares a hole through the Booker Man until Russo finally takes the hint.....he says that Warrior doesn't want to be wasting any more of his precious time on that fat assed Samoan Rikishi than he has too....so Big Man, get that Big Ass out here right now.....because that match is next.

Titans Revenge Match

Apparently The Warrior doesn't feel like walking to the back, only to have to come ALL the way back down to the ring later for his match against Rikishi Fatu....so whether 'Kishi is ready or not this match is happening now.....

....Warrior is one strong S.o.B.....one of the more powerful competitors in the WWF....good job too, because he's going to need every ounce of that strength to shift the weight of the big Samoan.....

....if you were expecting a catch as catch can classic here then, well, what's wrong with you for one....and for two, you were going to be very disappointed.....this is two men, both powerful for very different reasons (Warrior his physique, Rikishi for his sheer mass) and they just punched and kicked the crap out of each other....the Warrior actually seemed as a loss as to what to do with Big 'Kish at one point, after all, he was never going to get him up for the Gorilla Press......fortunately help was at hand.....

.....in the form of Titan Team-mate Buff Bagwell......

.....with Warrior down on the mat, and Rikishi up straddling the second rope (looking to hit that Banzai Drop inspired Samoan Splash) Buff hops up onto the apron and starts hurling insults at Rikishi....obviously he's never heard the phrase "sticks and stones may break my bones, but names...etc, etc...." because Big 'Kish just shrugs the insults off.....it DOES however cause enough of a distraction that the Warrior is able to get back to his feet and hook hold of the Big Samoan, hoisting him off the ropes with all his might, dropping him with not a German Suplex exactly, but a variation of it similar to Shawn Michaels original "Teardrop Suplex".....that puts Rikishi down long enough for Warrior to run the ropes, before crashing down with the Running Splash for the one, the two, and the three.

Winner: The Warrior
Rating: B

Rikishi gets dumped out of the ring by a cackling Buff Bagwell, who raises the Warrior's arm in victory.....if this truly is a night centred around the Revenge of the Titans, then they couldn't have got the night off to a better start, because Rikishi is a big, big, man to put down, but the Warrior has the victory, regardless of the dubious manner in which he earned it.......of course The Warrior isn't the only Titan in action tonight......

.....and much like The Warrior, it doesn't look has though Bill Goldberg has ANY intention of waiting around in the back when tonight's opponent is already in the ring.....

.....that now familiar music begins to play, and the rookie (that Bobby Heenan has been casually dubbing 'da man on commentary in recent weeks) makes his way down the aisle, not even hesitating at the sight of two Titans inside the ring.....

.....Schiavone says he's not sure that climbing into that ring with two members of the Titans of Wrestling stood there is such a good idea, while Heenan says that he doesn't think Goldberg would hesitate if there were twenty-two members of the Titans of Wrestling in the ring, let alone two.....

.....he doesn't hesitate either....he climbs right through the ropes and walks straight up to the Warrior, staring him dead in the eye, while the Warrior stares right back in a rather tense moment that is only broken when Buff slaps his Titan pal on the back, telling the Warrior to head to the back, because Buff is going to break this chump in about two minutes.....

.....Warrior slowly turns to look at Bagwell, with the expression on his face saying that he doesn't share Buff's confidence in himself with him, but at the end of the day he's had his match (and pay day) so if Bagwell wants to face the rookie by himself then so be it.....and after pausing for another brief face off with Goldberg, Warrior takes himself to the back, leaving Buff Bagwell to go one on one with the undefeated Bill Goldberg.....

Titans Revenge Match

Bill Goldberg has pretty much kept himself to himself since his arrival here in WCW.....he's had the odd limited programme, but even those have been against predominantly Tag Team wrestlers (The Amazing French Canadians and The Faces of Fear for example)....last week was his first real statement of intent, when he made his way out at the close of the show to stand shoulder to shoulder with his WCW peers, and by proxy, stood AGAINST the Titans of Wrestling.....

....that brings him to tonight, on the Titans revenge list and up against Buff Bagwell, who is quite possibly the biggest "name" he's faced to date.....sure Goldberg has picked up victories against tougher men (Meng and The Barbarian instantly spring to mind) but neither of those men are exactly in their prime, and they certainly aren't on the rise....Buff Bagwell however is just 27 years of age, and since aligning with the Titans of Wrestling, has seen his stock skyrocket from "one to watch" to an almost "can't miss" prospect.....he's a damn good heel too, because he's a cocky, arrogant, pr!ck that's easy to hate....I suppose you can kind of understand why he didn't think he'd need The Warrior to stick around to put an end to this little winning streak......

.....unfortunately, Buff found out exactly the same thing that 41 men before him found out the hard way.....one Spear and one Jackhammer equals one, two, three.....and after wins on Saturday Night and War Room (and despite Buff being anything but pleased to do it) it means victory number 42 for Bill Goldberg.....that's 42-0 for those keeping score at home.....and the Titans Revenge turns into Buff Bagwell's Nightmare, and we go to a hype package for WCW Mayhem, highlighting Diamond Dallas Page's first shot at the WCW Title.

Winner: Bill Goldberg

We come back from that promo to an erupting arena......why are they erupting?.....well that might have something to do with the fact that Shawn Michaels is making his way through the crowd......

.....Schiavone loses his mind as the hottest free agent in professional wrestling makes his way through the braying masses, until he finally comes to a halt at an empty seat right there on the front row.....and after hamming it up for the camera a little bit he sits down right there with the fans.....apparently Shawn Michaels is here to watch the show.....

Rating: N/A

Quote:

VS.

.....he hasn't picked a bad time to join us either....because he's about to be electrified by the most electrifying man in sports entertainment, The Rock.....and Jeff Hardy of course, who might not have the most electrifying of promo, but can certainly bring the excitement with his in ring work.....

....their opponents? Well we know they are facing the Forgotten, we just weren't sure which members, but we soon find out that it's Kevin Sullivan and Bam Bam Bigelow stepping up to the plate (which means it will be Big Van Vader facing Jean Paul Levesque later in the evening)....

....all four men walk slowly past Michaels there on the front row as they make their entrances....The Rock has never faced Shawn Michaels, and neither (I don't think anyway) has Jeff Hardy, but these two have certainly seen up close and personal what Michaels can do....

.....The Forgotten however stop for a a good long look at Shawn....after all, he is the epitome of everything they are fighting against.....after Hardy, Rikishi, Rock, Storm, Copeland, Cage....even Levesque to a point....Shawn Michaels is just another in a long line of Titan Sports (former) employees looking to take their spot on the card....and they tell him as much, letting him know that they will take him out too, much like The Rock and Jeff Hardy are about to get taken out.....as Shawn is quick to point out however, he's not here to take anyone's spot....he's not even employed by WCW....he's just here to watch the show like everyone else in the crowd......

....Sullivan doesn't believe him in the slightest....and unfortunately, for a man dubbed the Games-master because of his ability to play mind games with his opponents, his doubt of Michaels is to his detriment here, because while he is out on the floor (yet again for the umpteenth time during the match) giving the former WWF Champion a talking to, Jeff Hardy comes flying over the ropes with a Springboard Splash that sends Sully crashing into the crowd rail....and The Rock drops Bigelow with the Rock Bottom inside the ring.....Rock may be facing Vader at the upcoming Mayhem event, but tonight he's defeated Bigelow (and Sullivan) and that's got to put the momentum on his side.

Winner(s): The Rock & Jeff Hardy
Rating: B

Quote:

Sullivan and Bigelow are far from happy about this loss.....and as The Rock and Jeff Hardy make their way to the back, Sully helps Bammers back to his feet, and the two Forgotten men head over to the front row to confront Shawn Michaels.....

....to be fair, Shawn in no way was responsible for that loss, he was literally just sat there at ringside watching the show....Sullivan clearly doesn't see it that way though, and it looks as though this "fan" is about to be on the receiving end of a good old fashioned beating.....

......fortunately help is at hand, in the form of Vince Russo, who has Doug Dillinger and his crack security team in tow....

.....it doesn't seem as though he's here for The Forgotten however, as he bypasses Sullivan and Bigelow and goes right up to Shawn Michaels.....

.....he tells Michaels that he thought he'd made himself clear.....Mr. Michaels is NOT an employee of WCW.....Mr. Michaels is NOT a Titan of Wrestling.....therefore Mr. Michaels has NO business here tonight....is trespassing at a WCW event....and as such is NOT welcome.....so Russo suggests that the (former) Heartbreak Kid should leave the building, before Russo has security physically remove him.....that or let Sullivan and Bigelow here finish what they looked like they were about to start, and beat him out of the building.....

....Shawn hardly seems phased....in fact, he has a pretty big sh!t-eating grin plastered on his face throughout Russo's tirade, much as he had a pretty big sh!t-eating grin plastered on his face throughout Sullivan and Bigelow's intimidation tactics a few moments ago.....he takes the microphone from Russo, saying he had a feeling that something like this would happen....before reaching into his jacket pocket and pulling out one genuine front row WCW Monday Nitro ticket....he says that's why he paid the big bucks for the hottest ticket in town.....

....Shawn says that he's here tonight as a spectator (notice he didn't say fan?) he's here to watch his pal JPL wipe the floor with one of these Forgotten chumps....the one with a muzzle he guesses.......he says that he's done nothing but sit here and watch the show, so no, Russo won't be escorting him out of the building, and no, Sullivan and Bigelow won't be so much as harming one hair on his chinny chin chin, because while Ted Turner might have more money than Jesus, Shawn is fairly sure that he wouldn't want the hefty lawsuit that would be heading his way should two members of his roster assault a helpless member of the public.....

"....hell Vinny, they'd give me so much money, I might even end up being your new boss....now wouldn't ya just love that?.....so what I suggest you do, is scurry on back to the locker rooms there, and go back to doing what you do best.....suckling at the teat of Hollywood Hogan....and let me get back to watching my 'Rassling dag-nam it....."

.....Sullivan and Bigelow don't seem to give a damn about assaulting a "member of the public" but words like "lawsuit" have a tendency to make members of management nervous....and reluctantly (and with a great deal of difficulty) Russo manages to convince The Forgotten that it would be in their (and his) best interest to head to the back, and indeed leave Shawn to watch his "Rassling"......

So, Curt Hennig gets a second bite of the cherry here when it comes to challenging for the WCW United States Championship....he was quite literally one second away from capturing the gold at Halloween Havoc, until Eddie Guerrero took the phrase "Champions Advantage" to the limit, intentionally getting himself disqualified to save his title.....

....Eddie may well have thought that was that as far as Curt Hennig was concerned....Curt Hennig had other ideas....and so did Eric Bischoff, as the public face of the WCW Championship Committee made this match tonight official.....

....and so with much reluctance, Eddie once again puts the gold on the line against the man once christened as the "Perfect" superstar.....of course, if you ask Eddie, HE'S the Pappi of Perfection around here, and if you look at his laundry list of opponents since his championship reign began, he may be right.....

....Guerrero hardly fights this match fairly....flaunting the rules openly at times while encouraging the official to go ahead and disqualify him....perhaps because of the outcome of these two men's previous encounter however, this referee appears to be more lenient than usual, and because of this the two men find themselves pushing the boundaries on the outside, battling it out on the floor....

......Hennig bounces Guerrero's skull off the ringpost, then drives his spine into the ring apron....the US Champion collapses in a heap on the floor, but Hennig has no sympathy, dragging Eddie to his feet and going to toss him back into the ring......except he doesn't....because Eddie reverses it, rolling Curt back into the ring as the official makes a count of nine.....

.....Eddie looks at Hennig....looks at the official....smirks....and drops back to the floor clutching at his ankle.....and as Hennig shouts at the referee not to do it, unfortunately the rules are the rules.....and as that count of nine turns into a count of ten, again Curt Hennig defeats the United States Champion.....but again, one second was all that Eddie Guerrero needed, to walk out of here tonight as STILL the WCW United States Champion.

Winner: Curt Hennig (via Count-Out)......however, Still WCW United States Champion....Eddie Guerrero
Rating: B+

Eddie Guerrero's sudden ankle injury makes a very rapid recovery, as the champion grabs his title belt and hightails it to the back, leaving a frustrated Curt Hennig watching on from the ring....

....we leave Curt there, and head to the back ourselves....where Mean Gene is standing by with the Total Package Lex Luger....

....before the interview takes place however, Mean Gene has bills to pay and a hotline to shill....which is why if you call 1-900-909-9900 right now, you can hear the inside scoop on things like Curt Hennig taking young Jeff Hardy under his wing, option 1 will let you know all about that and exactly WHAT psychology tips he was passing on to the young star before Nitro came on the air......option 2 will give you all the scoop on Bobby Eaton and Gideon Cain's blossoming student/teacher relationship, with Bobby passing on tips on selling to Missy Hyatt's monster......option 3 is a good one.....because option 3 will tell you the stories that the WWF won't....mainly the fact that their stellar legal department let the contract of midcarder Justin Credible lapse, without even offering an extension.....and as of tonight, that young man is a free agent (yeah that's true....I didn't even realise Credible's contract was expiring....whoops, he's gone).....all that and more on the WCW Hotline.....

....with the cheap plugs out of the way, Gene finally turns his attention to his guest....he tells Lex that it would seem to him (following both the events of Halloween Havoc AND last weeks four way number one contenders match) that the friendship between The Total Package and The Giant, is well and truly in the rear view window.....

....Lex disagrees.....he says that at Halloween Havoc, he could have taken the easy victory, and pinned his unconscious friend (following Sting's assault of The Giant), while last week was simply the heat of competition and the desire to become the number one contender to Hollywood Hogan's title.....Lex says that there is no reason that he and the Giant can't put all this behind them, shake hands....and move on with their lives and their friendship.......

.....well.....judging by the fact that the Giant storms into shot and drives an unsuspecting Lex Lugers head against the concrete wall, it's safe to say that he doesn't agree.....

.....Lex is totally blindsided here, and knocked half stupid by the concrete he's in little condition to fight back, leaving the Giant to brutalise him, culminating with the seven footer wrapping his hand around the throats of Luger, and hoisting him high up into the air in position for the Chokeslam.....instead of driving Luger down to the ground however, he drives him backwards and slams him hard against the wall......

.....Luger hits the floor anyway, it's the only place he has to land after all, and as he's flat on his back the Giant places one huge foot on his chest, using him as a stepping stone as he walks off in the same direction he arrived, telling Luger to "....move on with that...." as he goes.....

.....and the Totally Awesome Trinity walk into shot, presumably on their way to the ring for their upcoming match.....

"....dude, that looked like it totally sucked!......hey Gene...."(Copeland clears his throat and adopts a 'announcers' voice)"....and don't forget folks, that's 1-900-909-9900 for all the dirt.....like option 4, where you can hear all about how Lex Luger Totally just cracked his ass landing on this concrete floor.....and kids, don't worry about getting your parents permission....not unless you're a total loser anyway....."

....Copeland slaps Gene on the back, telling him that should get him a few more calls, before the Trinity head off towards the ring area, leaving a shell-shocked Mean Gene to stare down at the battered Lex Luger, before looking up to watch the Titan men go.....

".....erm....thanks....back to you Tony....."

Titans Revenge Match

Adam Copeland and Christian Cage have seen their careers skyrocket since their arrival here in WCW....they have literally gone from WWF (lower) Midcarder's to (WCW level) Main Eventers in a few short months.....they're members of the most dominant faction in WCW, The Titans of Wrestling (rubbing shoulders with the likes of Hollywood Hogan & Randy Savage) and have formed a Sub-Faction with the unlikely partner of Ray Traylor in the surprisingly entertaining Totally Awesome Trinity....they've captured the WCW Tag Team Titles, and been involved in (the rarely seen here in WCW) A graded matches......in other words, they're doing pretty damn good for themselves......

....their opponents? Not so much.....this was a glorified squash match......Finlay, Juvi and Disco got some limited offence in, but it was exactly that....limited.....and Traylor picked up the pinfall at around the eight minute mark, after finishing off Disco with the Enforcer (Boss Man) Slam....

....revenge has been dished out here, and thus far the only Titan with a blemish to his name tonight is Buff Bagwell, as the Totally Awesome Trinity head to the back (with Ray Traylor being sure to let Shawn Michaels know as they pass him, that the only reason he's not kicking his ass, is because Vince Russo asked him not to) and we go to commercial.....

Winner(s): The Totally Awesome Trinity
Rating: B

Quote:

....and when we come back from commercial, it's in the locker room of the Titans of Wrestling....and things are rather tense to say the least....obviously Shawn Michaels arrival this evening was an eventuality that the Titans hadn't prepared for, and the fact that he's here in an unofficial capacity presents Vince Russo with some difficulties.....after all, as Michaels quite rightly pointed out, WCW wrestlers attacking paying members of the audience is a huge lawsuit waiting to happen.....

....most of the Titans don't see what the problem is.....after all, Ted Turner has plenty of money, he's probably got enough cash lost down the side of his sofa to cover any lawsuits....Russo is adamant though.....saying that as long as Shawn Michaels is minding his own business in the crowd, he's completely off limits....which leaves Christian Cage to wonder out loud "...what if he wasn't in the crowd?..."

....Hogan says that's a very good question.....after all, it's somewhat of an unwritten rule in wrestling, that the minute a fan jumps that rail he's fair game, after all, for all you know he could be armed with anything......

....Russo ponders that for a moment, before finally breaking out into a smile, saying that he can work with that.....now all they need is a reason for Shawn Michaels to impulsively jump that safety rail......and since Buff is the only Titan to fail in his Titan's Revenge match, then maybe HE should be the one to do the provoking.....and guess what, Shawn Michaels close personal friend Jean Paul Levesque is in action.....next.

Rating: B+

Quote:

VS.

Jean Paul Levesque is indeed in action next.....and since Kevin Sullivan and Bam Bam Bigelow competed earlier in the evening, it's probably no surprise to anyone to find out that his opponent is the former WCW Champion Big Van Vader.....

....JPL makes sure to go over and greet Michaels, as Shawn wishes his friend luck against the mountain of a man....Vader surprisingly is out all alone for this one, but we soon find out why, when Bobby Heenan informs us that his "sources" have told him that Vince Russo has ordered that the remaining Forgotten members remain in the back.....apparently Russo doesn't trust them to remain disciplined enough not to assault "member of the public" Shawn Michaels, thereby setting the lawyers on him and WCW.....

....Levesque has had some pretty good matches in the last 4-6 weeks....nothing groundbreaking (but then few WCW matches are....yet) but solid enough that he's been in the match of the night on a number of occasions.....this wasn't one of them....in fact this was pretty poor considering the names involved, but then Vader is about 5 years past his spectacular 1992 form, and some what of a fat piece of sh!t (heh, there's a Russo classic) which means he can't go too long before he's sucking air.....he still looks like someone you'd want to avoid in a dark alley mind you.....

.....with a showdown with The Rock on the horizon Vader needed a decent showing here, and while the match wasn't great, Levesque actually made Vader look pretty dominating for a good portion of the match, crushing JPL with his (ample) weight....Corner Avalanches, Splashes and Powerslams were the moves of choice for this Big Man.....but with Shawn Michaels cheering him on from the front row, Levesque was able to fight his way back into this, and even got the Masked (muzzled) Man into position for the Pedigree.......

.....not that he got to hit it....because Buff Bagwell comes bounding out from the back, slides into the ring, and nails Levesque in the back of the head/neck with a clothesline.....ding, ding, ding....that's a disqualification folks.....

Winner: JPL (via Disqualification)
Rating: B-

Quote:

.....and the beatings don't stop just because the match has....because after being taken out from behind, Jean Paul Levesque is in a prime position for a Buff Beat Down, as Bagwell proceeds in stomping the fallen former Titan down on the mat.....

....Vader doesn't look overly thrilled at the fact Buff Bagwell just cost him this match (hey, he might have kicked out of the Pedigree) but a fallen JPL is obviously too good of an opportunity to pass up.....after all, it was arguably Levesques entry into WCW that opened the floodgates for these slew of new arrivals, he's Patient Zero as far as the Forgotten are concerned, and if Vader can put him out for good here then so be it.....

....Shawn Michaels is getting twitchy on the front row as Vader and Bagwell assault Levesque, a fact that Buff clearly spots as he begins taunting the spectator, egging him to get into the ring.....and finally, (as Bagwell is posing for the crowd and Vader is up on that second rope looking for that Vader splash) he hops the rail.....slides into the ring.....and knocks Buff Bagwell's head off with the Sweet Chin Music, before charging Vader and sending him tumbling over the turnbuckles and down to the floor.....

.....perfect.....that's exactly what the Titans wanted to happen.....and now that Shawn Michaels is standing in the ring he's no longer a "spectator", he's a target......and a target they plan on taking out......

.....but not before security (lead by Eric Bischoff) rushes down the aisle, straight past the Titans.....and into the ring where they circle Shawn Michaels.....

.....Russo asks Bischoff just what the hell he's doing, but Eric says he'd think that was obvious....he's escorting this rowdy "fan" from the building right now....and as Levesque follows them, halfheartedly "protesting", a smirking Shawn Michaels is lead away......not up the aisle to where the Titans are standing, but back into the crowd from which he came, presumably to be ejected from the building.....

.....the Titans are furious.....watching their plan to get their hands on Shawn Michaels go up in smoke, leaving them with nothing more than an unconscious Buff Bagwell....Russo says he knows what Bischoff is doing.....he's protecting Shawn Michaels.....he's protecting him in the hope that the so called hottest free agent in wrestling today will sign his name on the dotted line and join up with WCW......well that's fine "bro", good luck with that.....but Vince Russo wields the power around here.....and as far as Vince Russo is concerned, Shawn Michaels is hereby BANNED from attending ANY World Championship Wrestling event.....and since he just attacked an ACTIVE member of the WCW roster, he is perfectly within his rights to do that.....

.....and since the gang's all here, let's get this tag team match over and done with.....because just like Diamond Dallas Page will be at Mayhem, the Road Warriors are about to feel.....Titans Revenge.....

Titans Revenge Match

If our last match was poor, this one wasn't much better.....I REALLY expected more from these two teams......THE team of the 80's and 90's vs. THE face of professional wrestling in the 80's and 90's .....but in reality, we got four men who are all past their prime, trying to follow a segment they were never going to be able to follow.....

.....this match would have been HUGE ten years ago, so what was to blame? Well.....the Road Warriors have had great (B+) matches with Mike Awesome and Gideon Cain, not to mention the near match of the night at Halloween Havoc when they fought Awesome, Cain, Copeland and Cage in a fantastic (A) match......Randy Savage has been arguably the highest rated performer since Russo's arrival, putting out more A graded matches that the rest of the Titans combined......so who does that leave?.....well, I'm not one to point fingers, so I'll let you draw your own conclusions.....

....needless to say the match suffered by a lack of selling (go figure) as these four men beat on each other.....the Road Warriors have had their problems with the Titans for the best part of four months now with the Titans determined to take those WCW Tag Titles for themselves (a feat that they finally accomplished at Halloween Havoc) and tonight they were successful again.....Hawk and Animal were always going to struggle since the entire Titans of Wrestling group were at ringside.....and it was Adam Copeland nailing Animal in the back of the head with the tag title belt that lead to the Legdrop of Doom for Hollywood, and the one, two, three for the Mega Powers of Professional Wrestling.....

Winner(s): Hollywood Hogan & Randy Savage
Rating: B

.....it's safe to say that the Titans have had their revenge this evening....but it doesn't look as though they're done any time soon....

....the entire group climbs into the ring and begins to put the boots to the former WCW tag team champions....and since this whole night has been about the Revenge of the Titans (and since Levesque and Michaels have been escorted from the building) it doesn't look as though anyone is going to risk incurring the wrath of Vince Russo again by interjecting themselves here.......

.....except one man maybe.....

.....who comes rappelling down from the rafters.....landing right in front of Hollywood Hogan.....

.....the action comes to a standstill as Hollywood begs off....at least until he realises that Sting is SEVERELY outnumbered here.....and a smile breaks out on his face, as the Titans begin to circle Sting......

.....which is when ANOTHER Sting descends from the rafters....this one landing on the outside of the ring, where he climbs up onto the apron....

.....now the Titans are stunned.....two Sting's.....and as Hollywood looks from one to the other, the Sting on the apron pulls out a black bat.....

....and the Sting in the ring grabs hold of Hollywood.....

.....and drops him with a Diamond Cutter......before pulling off what is actually a Sting mask (and wig) to reveal (obviously)......

......Diamond Dallas Page......

.....Hollywood is down, and it takes the Titans a few seconds to process this before they decide to attack, but Page is ready.....Sting has a bat.....and the Road Warriors are back on their feet.....

.....it doesn't take long for the WCW faithful to send the Titans packing, especially with Sting swinging that baseball bat around....and just like that, the Titans Revenge is ruined, because no matter what they do....who they assault.....WCW has ALWAYS got a man waiting to fight.....and that man's name......is Sting.

Week 3, November 1997
Worcester Centrum (Worcester, Massachusetts)
ATT: 13,221
TV: 36.57

Quote:

We open up another edition of the hottest show in professional wrestling with the now iconic screech of the guitar, which can signal the arrival of only one man (and one group) as Bret Hart parts the curtains, with the rest of the Hart Foundation by his side....Owen Hart, Chris Jericho, Test, the four men walk the aisle and climb into the ring, where Bret clearly has something to say.....

....he says that the Hart Foudnation are just six days away from finally putting their feud with the Wolfpac behind them once and for all....he says that for almost two years now he and his brother have been dealing with Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, and Sean Waltman in one guise or another.....for almost two years this little clique have been going out of their way to screw over the Hart Family, and screw over proud Canadians in general.....Sean Waltman screwed Chris Jericho out of the Light Heavyweight Title (wayyyy back in April of 1996), Hall and Waltman screwed The Hitman out of the WWF Title at Wrestlemania XII, they screwed Owen out of the title at May 96's In Your House event.....hell, they even delivered a vicious gang beating to Chris Jericho after he took their little boy toy to his limit at the September 96's In Your House, just coming up short in his efforts to capture the WWF Title.....

".....and yet WE are the bad guys.....WE are the ones that you choose to boo, while you blindly cheer on common street thugs like Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, and Sean Waltman.....these are the hero's you've chosen for your children......the role models you want them idolising.....welcome to America, where the land of hope and opportunity means getting cheered on while you stick a knife in someone's back.......land of the free.....home of the scumbags....."

.....because after all, that's the American dream.....getting ahead by holding someone else down....celebrating by making someone else suffer.....

".....and to be quite honest, you people make me sick....."

....Bret says that this is exactly why Canadians are simply better people than Americans....Canadians don't hold each other down, they help each other rise up, and that exactly what the Hart Foundation are going to be doing once they put the Wolfpac down for good at the Survivor Series.....they are all going to work towards ONE common goal....and that goal is going to be getting the World Wrestling Federation Championship back where it belongs.....around the waist of a Canadian.....

"....because frankly, that title has been sullied and devalued from the day it left my hands.....Shawn Michaels....Scott Steiner.....Ahmed Johnson......American, American, American....a degenerate, a pervert, and a bully.....three personality traits that are as American as the Red, White, and Blue.....Scott Steiner can come out here all he wants and make fun of Canada....he can call us America Jr.....but the fact of the matter is, if Scott Steiner had had a Canadian Education, he MIGHT be able to string a sentence together without talking about his penis....."

....did someone say penis?.....they must have, because here comes Big Poppa Pump, with his big swinging....lead pipe in hand.....and he's not alone, because despite the disagreement that closed last weeks show, Kevin Nash is right there by his side....and so is Scott Hall and Sean Waltman.....

.....Steiner asks first of all why the hell everyone is so obsessed with his junk....first Dok Hendrix was trying to catch a look last week, now Bret Hart.....

".....I MEAN, I KNOW WHY.....IT'S HUGE!....BUT STILL, USUALLY IT'S JUST MY FREAKS THAT CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF BIG POPPA'S STUFF, BUT LATELY IT SEEM'S LIKE ALL THE BOYS IN THE BACK KNOW THAT SCOTT STEINER IS A GENETIC FREAK IN MORE WAYS THAN ONE, AND THEY WANNA SEE HOW THEY MEASURE UP......WELL BRET, IT'S COLD UP THERE IN AMERICA JR.....SHRINKAGE AIN'T KIND.....AND YOU DON'T MEASURE UP TO BIG POPPA PUMP AT ALL....."

....Bret says that this proves his point, Survivor Series is just six days away, and all Scott Steiner can do is get in a d!ck measuring contest, it's embarrassing.....

".....IT AIN'T NO CONTEST BOY....NO CONTEST AT ALL....AND THE ONLY THING THATS EMBARRASSING, IS WHAT YOU'RE PACKING BEHIND THOSE LITTLE PINK PANTIES....."

.....Nash takes the microphone for a moment, to at least TRY and get us back on track.....he tells Bret that yeah, he's right.....they did do all that (and more) to him, and you know what, they're bored of beating him up.....they've beat up him, his brother, his in-law's, his friends....hell, the only one left to slap around is old Stu, and he'd probably be tougher to beat that either of his two little b@stards down in the ring there....

....so yes, Survivor Series WILL finally signal the end of the Hart/Wolfpac feud.....and then it's on to bigger and better for the Red and Black attack.....Scotty's got the IC strap, the Kid he's got his eye on recapturing that European Title....

".....and Big Daddy Cool here thinks it's about time that we put that WWF Title back where it belongs.....around MY big, sexy waist....."

....Nash continues to talk as the Wolfpac (and Steiner) make their way down the aisle and into the ring....there's a good chance that things are about to get a little physical around here....Big Sexy says that once the Harts are taken out at Survivor Series, there's going to be nothing standing between him and a shot at the strap.....

....Bret interrupts, saying that's exactly the reason they WON'T win at Survivor Series....clearly Big Sexy isn't the only one with title aspirations (following last weeks little lovers tiff between himself and Scott Steiner) before fuelling the fire a little bit, saying that after all, Scott Steiner probably does deserve that shot before Kevin Nash....he never did get that rematch after losing the WWF Title to Ahmed Johnson did he.....and if nothing else you could argue that he should be due at LEAST a shot at the Intercontinental Title....after all, he never lost that title either....

....Nash tells him that he knows what he's he's doing, and it won't work....so how about Bret stops the little mind games, puts down the microphone.....and get his ass kicked like a man.....

....Steiner tells Nash to hold on a minute, saying that Bret Hart has a point....why should HE be getting the next shot at the WWF Title? (Bret says that he shouldn't) Steiner say he never did get his rematch (Bret agree's) and while Kevin Nash spent the best part of two years playing second fiddle to Shawn Michaels, Scott Steiner was tearing through the WWF on his own, defeating Shawn Michaels in three straight meetings along the way (Bret says that Steiner does make a valid argument).....Scotty turns and tells The Hitman to stop agreeing with him, before he shoves this lead pipe up his ass, to which Hart holds his hands up, saying that the Hart Foundation are going to leave, because Nash and Steiner clearly have some things to discuss....

....with that, the Harts climb out of the ring and head to the back, with the Hitman smirking all the way up the aisle while Jericho and Owen pat him on the back for a job well done....the pot is well and truly stirred, as we go to commercial break amidst scenes very similar to the ending of last weeks show...Scott Steiner and Kevin Nash arguing about who deserves a shot at the WWF Title first, as Hall and Waltman attempt to keep the two men from shoving each other around once more.....it's time for a Survivor Series hype package while we sort this mess out.

Rating: A*

VS.

We're back from that brief interlude, the Wolfpac and Scott Steiner have returned to the back (presumably to patch up their differences) and it's time for our first match of the evening, and it's two men that will be on opposing teams in six days time at the Survivor Series....Sid might be late to the party as far as the Ken Shamrock/Matt Hardy vs. The Million Dollar Corporation feud goes, but after Rich Steiner directly cost him the European Title last week, he got very invested, very quickly.....

....this match was decent enough for what it was, two brawlers brawling, Sid is a big lad though, and even the presence of Ted DiBiase at ringside wasn't enough to derail the seven footer, as he finished the former Intercontinental Champion off with a big Powerbomb for the three count.

Winner: Psycho Sid
Rating: B

Quote:

We head to the back from there, where Michael Cole is standing by with the WWF Tag Team Champions, the New Age Outlaws....it's Bad Ass Billy Gunn and The Road Dogg Jesse James, along with their manager Sunny, and Michael Cole wants to know how they feel going into Sunday's Four Way Elimination match (with their gold on the line) when they don't even know who their opponents are going to be yet?....

....the Outlaws don't care...."what d'ya think this is Cole, our first rodeo?"....Road Dogg says that it was only three months back that they last defended their Titles in a Four Way match, and defend them they did....they walked in as champions and they walked out as champions, and that's exactly what's going to happen on Sunday night, no matter WHO is in the match.....

....Sunny chirps up (since she can talk and Billy Gunn can't) saying that there is no team in the WWF....scratch that....there's no team in wrestling period, that can beat her boys....so it really doesn't matter who is in the match, they'll all be eliminated one after the other, until the New Age Outlaws are the sole survivors......

....Michael Cole is sceptical about that....he says that for one, the last four way match they were a part of was one fall to a finish (and that was a fall they completely stole out from under Chris Candido) they have to outlast three other teams on Sunday, and should Al Snow and Chris Candido qualify tonight, then one of those teams will have already defeated them...TWICE...capturing the tag titles in the process.....

.....Road Dogg scoffs at that however....he says first of all, those two morons even qualifying to begin with is a very big if....but IF they do, then the Outlaws will do what they do best....and that's make Pinkie and The Brain look like the morons that they are.....and as for anyone else that qualifies, they'll find out exactly what Snow and Candido already know.....

".....and that's the fact that if you think you've got what it takes to beat the Outlaws, we've got two words for ya......."

".....Suck It!....."

Rating: B+

VS.

WWF Tag Team Championship; Survivor Series Elimination Match Qualifier

Well the New Age Outlaws might not know who they are facing at Survivor Series yet, but they're about to learn at least ONE of the teams they will be facing right now, as Mosh and Thrash, The Headbangers face off against Wrath and Crush, The Dogs of War, with the winning team advancing to the elimination match at the Survivor Series....

....the Headbangers haven't had a great deal of opportunity to showcase what they can do outside of Superstars and the occasional Raw is War cameo here and there.....they're a decent little team too.....at least they will be with a bit more seasoning behind them....for now however (despite a strong showing) they have to settle for counting the lights as the official counts Mosh's shoulders down for the one, two, three.....the Dogs of War are going to Survivor Series.

Winner(s): The Dogs of War
Rating: B

Quote:

For the third week in a row we head back to that old gothic church, where Raven is now sitting beneath the pulpit, head down, hair covering his face, with his hands crossed in his lap....he doesn't even look up as he begins to talk, congratulating "The Snake" on his escape from the circle of Lust, but an appetite for carnal desires is hardly the worst of Jake Roberts crimes....and while these trials are sent to test the Snake, if Raven can free the minds of the mentally tethered at the same time then all the better....because it seems to Raven that while Goldust may not have seen THE light last week, he at least saw A light.....and he has the Deity of the Damned to thank for that.....

".....but from an appetite for the flesh, we go to an altogether different appetite....an insatiable appetite that can never truly be satiated, be that for food, drink, or the addictions of man.....a glutton will place that insatiable appetite above all else.....above his fellow man....above his family.....above his health......

....Jake, you may not eat to excess but you ARE a glutton.....placing your unquenchable thirst... for alcohol over your family.....placing your insistence in over-indulging (to an almost toxic scale) on any number of your chemical vices, over your health.....you took that bridge over troubled waters...and you burned it down...choosing instead to wade into the waves of gluttony, with little more than an after-thought to the pain and suffering you were inflicting on your friends...your family....yourself.....

....one drink after the show can't hurt....two can take the edge off....three can make those bones less stiff....those aches less prominent....but why stop at three?....or four?....why stop at all?.....and so the glutton takes the extreme, and makes it the normal.....a problem that your opponent tonight knows oh so well.....

....there is no denying that much like you, your opponents gluttony was both his greatest success....and his greatest downfall....it was his ravenous appetite and unmatched size that took him to the top of the mountain, but the summit is a perilous place, and while it was his mass that propelled him into the spotlight, as his appetite grew, his success wavered.....his health wavered.....his ability wavered.....

.....Yokozuna was a force of nature that no one could stop, until he stopped himself....twice the man he once was with half of the ability.....a man who would compete TWICE at both Wrestlemania IX and Wrestlemania X, reduced to sucking air on the ring apron as Kokina, three minute into his tag team matches, until this once proud warrior was taken out with barley a whimper.....by a tennis racquet of all things......"

.....Raven says that Jake must be a glutton for punishment to continue on his path to destruction....and if it's a glutton he wants, then it's a glutton he shall get....he says that to descend from the third circle of Raven's personal hell, and take one step closer to his ultimate destiny, he's going to have to dig deep.....deeper than he's ever dug before.....because if he doesn't.....Kokina.....will eat him alive......Raven will be waiting....

".....come to me.....for I can set you free.....Quote the Raven.....Nevermore...."

Rating: A*

VS.

Nine Circles of Hell Match: Gluttony

Jake Roberts isn't showing any signs of slowing down as he continues through Raven's Divine Comedy.....he may have just hit a massive roadblock here however, in the 589lb former two time WWF Champion, Kokina....

....Kokina hasn't been seen in quite some time, not since Ahmed Johnson crushed his larynx near on six months ago.....he has quite the different look on his return however....oh, he hasn't lost any weight...if anything this "glutton" is bigger than ever....but he's ditched the Son of Samoa "island boy" look for a smarter dress code, and with his long elaborate silk robe, gold jewellery, and dyed and styled hair, he's looking more like a Samoan Godfather than a Samoan Sumo Wrestler.....

.....Raven was right, Jake really does have his work cut out for him here, because nothing he does even phases the near 600lb monster....in fact, one DDT attempt sees The Snake lifted high off his feet and tossed halfway across the ring....

....Raven was right about something else too though.....Kokina is a shadow of his former self....the once unstoppable Yokozuna is being stopped by his own massive weight, because it's not long into the match before the Samoan is really gassed, and completely out of breath, and all Jake Roberts has to do is stay the hell out of his way and watch his opponent tire himself out.....and it's something he does extremely well, and as a frustrated Kokina charges the Snake Man, Jake drops down (pulling the top rope down with him) and Kokina tumbles over the top and down to the arena floor below......the official makes the count, but once Kokina is down, he stays down, struggling to drag his massive weight back up to his feet....and as the official counts to ten, Jake Robert's moves one step closer to Raven, while Kokina moves one step closer to an early grave.....dear god man, eat a salad already.

Winner: Jake the Snake Roberts (via Count-Out)
Rating: B-

We leave Kokina behind, gasping for breath, desperately trying to get himself back to his feet (and seriously looking like he's re-evaluating his lifestyle choices about now) and we head over to Dok Hendrix, who is standing by with Booker T and Stevie Ray, Harlem Heat....

....Dok says that the Heat are just moments away from competing against the young team of High Voltage, with the winning pair moving onto this Sunday's Survivor Series Elimination Tag Title Match......and considering they have the experience edge over their opponents tonight, they must be feeling pretty confident about booking their place at the Survivor Series?.....

.....he's not wrong, Booker and Stevie are extremely confident....they're fired up too.....they say that since arriving here in the WWF they haven't been focused on what's important....first it was the Nation of Domination, then the Dogs of War, when they SHOULD have been concentrating on what matters, becoming the World Wrestling Federation Tag Team Champions......Booker says that the Heat are no strangers to gold, and that's EXACTLY what they're setting their sights on now....

".....High Voltage, you're two big boys there's no doubt about it, but that's all you are, a couple of wet behind the ears punks....me and my brother, we been beating on punks for years, and you ain't nothing but a step on our way to the top.....Rage, Kaos, tonight, you gonna feel the Heat.....and then Outlaws.....we coming for you....sucka's...."

".....I'm sorry, who are you again?....."

....I guess the Outlaws are sticking around tonight to see who they're facing on Sunday....we know the Dogs of War are heading to the Survivor Series, and now it's time to see if it's going to be High Voltage or Harlem Heat joining them.....whoever it is though the Outlaws don't look to worried.....

....Road Dogg says he's heard the name Harlem Heat before....heard they were something special....

".....but the way we see it, here in the WWF, you boys ain't been nothing more than a shadow....always in the background, blinded by the light that the New Age Outlaws bask in.....hell, our future is so bright even our manager is called Sunny.....and you KNOW that the Bad Ass loves to wear shades....."

.....James wishes the Heat good luck, telling them that the Outlaws would love to face them at Survivor Series....because then the world can stop talking about how good Harlem Heat USED to be, and focus on how damn good the New Age Outlaws ARE, when they kick their asses all the way back to the ghetto.....

.....Stevie Ray looks like he's about to slap a sucka right here, but Booker claps him on the back, telling him not now.....he says now they're gonna take care of High Voltage....they'll take care of these two punk asses when it matters.....at Survivor Series, when the gold is on the line....

WWF Tag Team Championship; Survivor Series Elimination Match Qualifier

Ok, so now we find out if Harlem Heat can back up that promise, as they face Robbie Rage and Kenny Kaos.....

.....High Voltage have not been featured a huge amount on Raw is War, but they have actually been tipped as two to watch for the future...with Kaos being the hotter tip of the two....they do have fantastic physiques (which we all know VKM loves) and Kenny Kaos actually has a pretty good look to match his size (unlike Rage, who is kind of bland looking)....granted they aren't the greatest workers in the world, but then neither is Ahmed Johnson and look where he is now.....

.....with that being said, they aren't winning tonight....Booker and Stevie made sure to make them look good, but in the end it was the veteran team going over the rookies, as Booker finishes off Rage with the Heatseeker....and we go to commercial.....

Winner(s): Harlem Heat

.....we're back, and we're IN the back....in the locker room of MGM Productions, where Goldust is sat staring at a monitor (clearly a man with a lot on his mind) while Marlena and Marcus make themselves look spectacular in the background.....Marlena is just putting the finishing touches on Marcus' rather extravagant eye make-up (in between puffs on her enormous cigar) and Marcus in particular is in fine form, going into full Johnny B. Badd mode as he admires Marlene's handiwork, proclaiming that he's so pretty he should have been born a girl....

....the two of them giggle like a pair of schoolgirls and try to cheer up Glumdust, but it's no use, and in the end they give up (calling Goldie a sour-puss), and go back to Marcus' make over.....they are just in the middle of selecting the perfect shade of lipstick when Goldust finally gets to his feet with a jolt, marches over to the pair.....and slaps the lipstick right out of Marlene's hand....

....he grabs the fat cigar and stubs it right out (completely destroying it) before picking up a towel and scrubbing the make-up off Marcus' face, telling them enough...."enough is enough, cut the crap"......

.....Marlena rubs at her hand where Goldust slapped the lipstick out of it, asking him what the hell his problem is? He points over to the monitor ("that.....that is my problem") where we finally see what he was watching....a replay of Raven's promo to Jake Roberts last week....a promo in which he directly cited Goldust's "unorthodox" lifestyle as the reason he had found much more limited success in the WWF than he had found elsewhere.....

.....Marcus looks confused, asking if he's really going to let the words of a kook like Raven get to him? But Goldust says that they're not just words.....it's the truth.....he's been too pre-occupied with the mind games to realise that the only person he's been playing.....is himself....

.....Goldust says that it's time they realised that all "this" isn't working....it's time they focused on the wrestling NOT the theatrics.....before both Goldust AND Marcus become nothing more than a footnote.....an afterthought.....a failed experiment.....he says that the three of them have been stuck in a rut for months now, and all they are doing is coming out on the losing end.....there are qualifying matches tonight to earn a shot at the WWF Tag Team Titles.....

".....and we weren't even considered.....the Headbangers?....High Voltage?....but WE weren't even good enough to consider? Are you kidding me?.....I'm a multi-time tag team champion.....I've faced some of the biggest names in tag team wrestling....but this....all "this".....means we weren't even considered......."

".....no, all "this" wasn't why you weren't considered.....it's not that you weren't considered because of WHAT you suck.......you weren't considered because you just suck period....."

....these guys again? Have the Outlaws got nothing better to do this evening?....

....apparently not, because they walk into the MGM studio looking highly amused....they tell the trio that their twisted little little ménage et trois has nothing to do with why they ain't winning....they ain't winning because they're second rate....a B-Movie at best.....and when you've got gen-u-ine Hollywood blockbusters like the New Age Outlaws on the show, that's all they're ever going to be.....

".....I mean hell, look at our leading lady....and then look at yours....everything we do is a step above....."

.....Road Dogg tells the trio to go back to playing dress up....do each other's hair....paint their nails.....and don't worry about the Tag Team Titles.....they're in good hands.....OUR hands.....normal hands.....

".....and if you ain't down with that, we got two wor.......actually.....nevermind.....you got Marcus for that.........see you later freakshow....."

....and with that the Outlaws walk of laughing, leaving a very serious looking Goldust behind....because it's time for our next match....

Snow & Candido must win to qualify for the Survivor Series Elimination Match

....and that next match is ANOTHER qualifying match for the Survivor Series Tag Title bout....with one small difference.....only the team of Al Snow and Chris Candido can qualify....and they have to win to do it.....should their opponents win (who are both already in action at the Survivor Series) then the third and final spot in the Elimination match this Sunday remains open....

....if this match wasn't big enough for Snow and Candido (with the title ramifications involved) their opponents tonight make it even bigger....because they are facing two living legends of the sport in Arn Anderson, and The Nature Boy (Woooooooooo) Ric Flair.....

....I think it's safe to say that Flair and Anderson could care less about whether Snow and Skippy qualify for the Survivor Series match or not, but they certainly don't want to be losing a match themselves just six days before the Pay Per View.....although they certainly don't have it easy here either....Al Snow and Chris Candido may have started life as a comedy team five minutes away from the dreaded "creative has nothing for you" phone call, but they've taken this ball and ran like hell with it, to the point that BOTH men are now credible Upper-Midcarder's who probably deserved a better Title Run than they were given.....but then, sometimes the chase is better than the win itself.....

.....Flair and Arn are battling a fight of their own....a fight against time, with both men being in a physical decline.....truthfully though, they're so damn good that it doesn't affect their matches too much, meaning this was an amazing match all things considered, with Snow and Candido more than holding their own against the former Horsemen...........

.....or at least they were.....before the New Age Outlaws made yet ANOTHER appearance this evening.....and as Sunny distracted the official, the Road Dogg tosses Ric Flair his Tag Title belt (before doing a little Flair Strut of his own at ringside).....

.....the Nature Boy winds up....knocks Candido spark out....makes the cover.....and three seconds later (well, five by the time the official has turned around) the Dirtiest Player in the Game lives up to his moniker....and Al Snow and Chris Candido may as well take the night off on Sunday......because they do NOT qualify for the Tag Title Match......

Winner(s): Ric Flair & Arn Anderson

....Jim Ross finds it rather interesting that despite the Outlaw's insistence earlier in the evening that they don't sweat Snow and Candido at all, and don't care WHO they face at the Survivor Series, it's rather continent that Snow and Candido's match here was the only one they felt the need to involve themselves in......but then I guess that's what happens when there's a chance you will have to defend your titles against team that's already defeated you twice before.....

....the Outlaws aren't done there either....Candido is still out of the equation after getting knocked silly by that Championship belt, so Gunn and James decide to unload a little two on one beating on Al Snow....

....Flair and Anderson obviously don't give a damn, so they head off to the back, leaving Snow to fend for himself....and while he does put up somewhat of a fight, the odds soon overwhelm him, and even Sunny gets to deliver a few shots to the prone Candido......

.....which is when (of all people) Goldust and Marcus come running out from the back....and they have Marlena with them.....

....the Bizarre Duo hit the ring and begin trading blows with the Outlaws, just as Marlena tackles Sunny and we have a brief (good old fashioned) cat-fight, until The Road Dogg and The Bad Ass get the hell out of dodge, dragging Sweet Ass Sunny out of the ring as they go.....

.....Marlena looked like she enjoyed that, as she mimics dropping handfuls of Sunny's hair on the mat, before turning and checking on Snow and Candido with Marcus....while Goldust stares intently up the ramp at the retreating Outlaws.....obviously Raven's words have lit a fire under the Bizarre One....maybe it's time for Goldust to get serious.

Hoo Boy....this is a biggie....it's main event time, and if Gorilla was on commentary he would be reassuring us that the ring had been specially re-enforced just for this match.....and it's not only big because of the sheer amount of mass in the ring, it's big because of the names involved.....The Undertaker, Ahmed Johnson, Steve Austin, Brian Pillman, Scott Steiner, Bret Hart........sure you've got your Ken Shamrocks, Nelson's and Faarooq's, but even with that you can't deny that this is one star studded match......

.....you've got some strange tag partners too....Steve Austin and Scott Steiner for example....they're on the same team tonight, but they've butted heads on numerous occasions...same can be said for Bret Hart and Brian Pillman on the opposing team.....and then you've got the two men that will be standing alone on Sunday night.....Ahmed Johnson and The Undertaker, who will be going to war over Ahmed's WWF Championship....in fact, with the exception of the Four Way WWF Tag Team Title match, every single Survivor Series match is being represented in this one bout.....

.....and what a bout it was too....as everyone looked to make an impact just six days before our Thanksgiving Tradition....in fact, the only one to show any trepidation at all was Faarooq, who while happy enough to get involved in the contest, soon tagged himself out of the match anytime Big Nelson was the legal man....

......unlike this Sunday's matches, this was a one fall to a finish bout, and it was Ken Shamrock that got to play the dubious role of "face in peril", before he finally managed to make the (very) hot tag to the Number One Contender himself.....The Undertaker.....and from there it all kinda broke down, because it didn't take long for an all out brawl to break out between the ten men.....

......and even less time for the partners of said ten men to come rushing out from the back one by one......and as chaos reigns just six days before the Survivor Series, the official has little choice but to throw this shambles out......ring the damn bell......

Winner(s): No Contest

.....holy moly that's a lot of bodies.....a LOT of bodies.....and it's a lot of bodies that proceed to embark on a mammoth brawl.....so much so that it looks like a riot has broken out here in the Worcester Centrum, as the Survivor Series teams clash just six days before this Sunday's show.....

.....fortunately, while we DO have chaos, it's somewhat organised chaos at least.....the Million Dollar Corporation are brawling mainly with Shamrock, Sid, Hardy and Kidman....the Nation of Domination are going to war with Bradshaw, the Bulldog, Malenko, Mysterio and Nelson (although truth be told, Faarooq is doing his best to avoid Big Nelson....

.....the Wolfpac and The Hart Foundation continue their everlasting fight....while the Hollywood Blondes collide, as Steve Austin and Brian Pillman try to knock each other's heads off....Marty Jannetty, Bob Holly, Savio Vega and Bart Gunn SHOULD have the (numbers) advantage against Vince McMahon's Corporate sell outs.....but while its four on three, those three are Ric Flair, And Anderson and Kane.....which means that the numbers advantage is completely nulled a few moments later, when Kane drops both Gunn and Holly with a double chokeslam.....

....that really just leaves Ahmed Johnson and The Undertaker.....and they look as though they could fight all the way to Survivor Series....

....both men were kept away from the arena last week, partly because of this exact reason, the two men are liable to injure each other before we even make it to their WWF Title contest.....

....punch after punch, kick after kick, Champion and Challenger show no signs of stopping.....well.....the challenger shows no sign of stopping anyway.....because after delivering a number of hard blows, followed by a throat thrust, The Undertaker manages to hoist Johnson into position for the Tombstone.......and that's enough for Ahmed Johnson.......he's the WWF Champion damnit, he doesn't have to put up with this......

.....Ahmed wriggles free and lands on his feet, and just like that he decides to bail straight out of the ring and to the back....there's just one problem with that.....the sea of brawling wrestlers between him and the locker rooms.....

.....Johnson tries to force his way through the 30 odd brawling superstars, but even the Walking Armageddon can't force his way through that many bodies....which leaves him stuck between a rock (the brawling masses) and a hard place (an Undertaker out for revenge)....except he's not stuck for long.....because in an amazing feat of athleticism, the Dead Man runs the length of the ring....leaps.....and soars over the top rope, crashing into not only Ahmed Johnson, but a dozen or so men currently brawling on the floor.....

......there are bodies strewn all over the place now after that amazing sight, and as the crowd goes wild a hoarse Jim Ross implores us to buy the Pay Per View.....

".....because Ahmed Johnson has got to pay the reaper.....and he may just pay at Survivor Series....."

.....we'll see you Sunday folks.

Ladies and Gentlemen, we are LIVE....it's Monday Night.....and that can mean only one thing.....it's time for the Titans of Wrestling to make that now familiar walk down the aisle....

.....the group enter the ring, and it's obvious that they are not happy with how last weeks "Revenge of the Titans" show went....sure, with the exception of Buff Bagwell they were all victorious in their matches, but when the show came to a close, it wasn't the Titan's being talked about.....it was Shawn Michaels....it was Diamond Dallas Page....it was Sting....and that has to drive Hollywood Hogan's ego crazy....

.....Hollywood takes the lead tonight, telling Diamond Dallas Page that he hopes he set his VCR last week....he hopes he has that Diamond Cutter on tape....because he'll be reliving that moment for the rest of his life....("because that right there brother, was the peak of your career....cheap-shotting Hollywood, like the no good, yellow coward that you are, and hitting the ONLY Diamond Cutter that you'll ever get me with jack....and even then you had to hide behind a mask to do it").....

.....Hollywood says that since Page is obviously so keen to get into the ring, he can get in the ring right here tonight....because the man with the plan, Vinnie Ru, he's made a match for DDP....tonight....live on Monday Nitro....it's going to be Diamond Dallas Page, squaring off against.........The Giant.....("and after that big stinky Giant eats you alive....IF.....you even make it to Mayhem.....then Hollywood Hogan, the greatest wrestler of all time, is going to squash you like the scrub that you are.....and you'll feel the Bang alright brother.....the bang of Hollywood Hogan dropping the Big Leg on you brother").....

....with that out of the way, it's on to our next order of business....Jean Paul Levesque, Shawn Michaels.....and the man called Sting....

....Russo says that since Sting spends his days hiding from Hollywood in the shadows...Sting won't come out and face Hollywood like a man, because he knows that for as long as Hogan is the WCW Champion ("which is going to be for a long time yet bro, let me tell ya") then Vince Russo will not grant Sting a single shot at the big gold belt.....BUT.....Russo has said it before, and he'll say it again.....there is NOTHING stopping Sting from competing in this ring, and there is nothing stopping him from challenging for the SECONDARY titles around here.....but instead, he's been moping around like some moody teenager, hiding out in the rafters and sneak attacking the Titans of Wrestling.......well no more.....

".....because like it or not "Stinger", you ARE a part of World Championship Wrestling....you DO have an active contract with World Championship Wrestling....and that makes ME your boss....and as long as I am your boss.....and as long as you are employed by ME....you will play by MY rules.....

....you have not competed in this ring since August....for three months now YOU Sting, have not been doing your job, and I don't know about where you come from, but where I grew up...New York, New York, the greatest City in the world...if you ain't doing your job bro, then your ass gets canned...."

....so it goes like this....the very next time Sting so much as LOOKS at Hollywood Hogan....the next time he so much as waves that stupid black bat in the Titans direction.....then his little gothic ass will be FIRED for breach of contract.....so Sting, stay up and sulk in the rafters all you want....but stay OUT of the Titans way....

....now, speaking of contracts....Shawn Michaels....(the dumbest man on the planet for turning down the offer to join the Titans)....Shawn Michaels does NOT have a contract with World Championship Wrestling....last week, Shawn Michaels attended Nitro as a fan, and he kicked Buff Bagwell in the face....and ACTIVE member of the WCW roster.....because of this, Vince Russo is perfectly within his rights to bar Mr. Michaels from attending ANY future World Championship Wrestling events....so guess what.....that's exactly what he is going to do....

"....no more hanging out with your little buddy backstage....no more watching from the crowd....no, the next time you wanna watch your 'Rassling bro, you can watch it on TV at home....in fact, I suggest you order WCW Mayhem in about 2 weeks time.....because your pal Jean Paul Levesque, he's going to be in action....against Buff Bagwell...."

.....well would t you know it, that only goes and brings out Mr. JPL himself.....but he's not alone.....Shawn Michaels is with him.....the two men walk out onto the entrance way with a microphone, and Russo and The Titans are not impressed.....

.....Vinnie Ru asks Shawn if he's deaf bro?....he says he is barred from attending all WCW events because of his conduct last week....so get the hell out of here.....Levesque however tells Russo that's not going to happen.....

"....see Shawn, he might not have signed a contract with the Titans of Wrestling.....he might not have signed a contract with World Championship Wrestling.....but he DID sign ONE contract..........Shawn.....show em what ya got....."

.....Michaels looks "shocked" at that suggestion, but he shrugs his shoulders and does as Levesque asks, unbuckling his belt and pulling out his.....

".....NOT THAT!...."

.....Levesque slaps Michaels on the chest, telling him to show them the OTHER thing he's got in his pants....Michaels pulls a goofy "my bad" face, before bucking his belt back up and pulling out a piece of paper.....and taking the microphone......he says that was he has in his hand is a contract.....

".....not a contract with you.....not a contract with Eric Bischoff.......not a contract with the Titans of Wrestling.....and certainly not a contract with "dubbya see dubbya".....what this is, is a contract with my good friend JPL here....."

....Michaels fishes into his pocket and pulls out another piece of paper....

".....and this right here.....this is a managers licence..........and this contract, and this licence.....means that where JPL goes, Shawn Michaels goes.....so guess what Vinnie.....Shawn Michaels is going to be at Mayhem.....Shawn Michaels is going to be right there at ringside at Mayhem......and when JPL faces your little boy toy wannabe Buff Bagwell, Shawn Michaels is going to be right there in his corner, "managing" him all the way to victory.....and if you don't like that, I WOULD have two words for ya.....but instead, you can have this....."

....and with that Michaels tosses away the microphone, as he and Levesque give the Titans of Wrestling a good old fashioned Crotch Chop, before turning and heading to the back as Manager and Client......and the Titans of Wrestling are NOT amused.

I've been listening to "The Lapsed Fan Wrestling Podcast" this week (as I do most weeks....do yourselves a favour and check it out....the only wrestling podcast you'll ever need) and we are currently working through the "Lamentable Tragedy of WCCW".....because of this I've had the god awful song "Heaven needed a Champion" from the David Von Erich memorial stuck in my head......well heaven might have needed a champion in 1985, but in 1997, Vader needed a Victim....that's why he crushed Rick Martel.....

......the match wasn't long....the match wasn't pretty.....but it did its job....and so did Martel....putting up enough of a fight to make it an entertaining match, but eventually succumbing to the Vader Powerbomb....as Vader and The Forgotten march on with their mission to take out the "WWF Outcasts"

.....Sullivan says that these fickle fans might have "Forgotten", but it was only last year that BOTH Vader and Bam Bam main evented Starrcade....and Bam Bam Bigelow was the reigning WCW Champion at the time.....

".....you have forgotten....but we have not....so at Mayhem, we WILL dominate....we WILL decimate.....we WILL destroy.....and no matter who stands before us....be it a Rick Martel....a Rikishi....a Jeff Hardy.....even your precious Rock....."it doesn't matter"......all will fall.....and at Starrcade 1997.....be it Vader....Bam Bam.....or Myself.....The Forgotten will bring that Championship home once again....."

We go backstage for the first time this evening, where Mean Gene is standing by to shill the hotline....1-900-909-9900....where you can get all the latest backstage news, including that of a possible new arrival here in WCW.....Option 1 will give you all the information we CAN give you on that......one person who will NOT be joining WCW anytime soon is Stone Cold Steve Austin, who has just put pen to paper on a multi-year, very lucrative deal with "the other guys" as New York attempt to continue to push WCW's cast off's....Option 2 will tell you all about that ("that" being the fact that Steve Austin is now the highest paid wrestler in the WWF, with his new deal coming with a whopping $22.000 a month pay raise, pushing him up to $60,000.....I say highest paid....he's actually the joint highest paid thanks to the Wage Matching clause that I had to put in both Kevin Nash and Scott Halls contracts to keep them around almost two years back.....are the Outsiders worth 60 grand a piece in late 97's WWF?....whether they are worth it or not is irrelevant, that's what their contracts dictate.....Bret Hart also requested a pay rise thanks to Austin's new deal.....he only got 75% of what he wanted, but that still puts him on $56,820.....incidentally, the next two highest paid stars? Ahmed Johnson and Ric Flair.....both of whom are on $50,000 a piece, which considering ones current health issues, and the others time decline, is frankly daylight robbery........but I digress......

....with the shill done, Gene turns to his guests.....the Titans of Wrestlings Totally Awesome Trinity.....WCW Tag Team Champions, Adam Copeland and Christian Cage, and The Enforcer Ray Traylor.....

....Gene says that there's a tag team match coming up next, The Nasty Boys taking on Gideon Cain and Mike Awesome....as yet, their next challengers have yet to be announced, would they consider this match a number one contenders match? Copeland and Cage look at Gene for a moment....then look at each other....then look at the Enforcer....and burst out laughing (while Traylor stands stone faced between them).....once the laughter has subsided, Copeland asks why in the world they would consider this a number one contenders match?....

".....I don't know if you saw Gene-o, but we totally kicked the crap out of the Not-So-Nasty Boys already......and as for Gideon Lame and his Totally Not Awesome partner, we've been beating them up for weeks now....."

....Gene ask then if not the Nasty's or Missy's Men, who DOES deserve a shot at the titles? But after a brief squabble between themselves about the tag team division, the Totally Awesome Trinity finally come to a decision......NOBODY.....there's not a team in WCW that can come close to matching Copeland and Cage for awesomeness......hell, there's not a team in the world.......

.....it would appear that Madusa disagrees.....because she walks into shot along with the Pitbulls, telling the Trinity that she's got their next contenders right here.....

.....for the second time this segment, Copeland and Cage burst out laughing (and even Traylor cracks a wry smile before he catches himself).....Madusa isn't sure what's so funny, but (in between bursts of laughter) Cage says that if they're looking for the Westminster Dog Show then they're totally working in the wrong company.....this is WCW, and the Totally Awesome Trinity rule.....Cage tells the Mutt's to beat it, before they have the Enforcer neuter them.....

....Copeland interrupts his partner though, telling him to hang on.....they DO need to put the titles on the line at some point because of that totally stupid 30 day rule....can he think of an easier defence than these two stray hound dogs? Copeland thinks not.....and he accepts Madusa's challenge, telling her that they will see them at Mayhem.....before the trio walk off (Copeland and Cage still chuckling) leaving Madusa and the Pitbulls with Gene, who says that it doesn't seem as though the Champions are taking this challenge too seriously....Madusa says that's fine.....they will.....when her Pitbulls have them by the jugular at Mayhem....and we go to our next match.

If there's one (or two if you count Jimmy Hart) manager here in WCW that knows the Nasty Boys well, it would be Missy Hyatt, who managed the duo to the WCW Tag Team Titles back in 1993.....

.....she will be hoping to replicate that success with her current clients, Mike Awesome & Gideon Cain....to have that success however, her men are really going to have to be picking up victories over the likes of Knobbs and Saggs, who (while still arguably one of the more over team) are past their prime to say the least.....

....fortunately for Missy, her men were more than up for the task....it was a back and forth brawl, but after Gideon Cain dropped Sagg's with the East of Eden, this one was all over

From there we go backstage, where Mean Gene is standing by with the public face of the WCW Championship Committee, Eric Bischoff....Gene says that Eric specifically requested this time, "so please tell us what's on your mind".....

....Bischoff thanks Gene, before reiterating that he did indeed request this time, and he requested it for two reasons....the first being the upcoming Mayhem match....he says that for once he agree' with Vince Russo, with this more streamlined version of their usual World War 3 match being the better option....and the added prize of the winner being granted an opportunity to challenge for the WCW Title at Starrcade is a stipulation that he's particularly interested in, because as the face of the Championship Committee, this match now has Championship implications, which means he has some say in the way that it's being structured.....

".....so first of all, despite what Mr. Russo will tell you, there are PLENTY of worthy opponents out there, both in WCW and ELSEWHERE......which is why entry to this Mayhem match is NOT limited to World Championship Wrestling employee's, but professional wrestlers the world over.....Japan....Mexico....Europe....Asia.....if you are eligible to compete in the United States of America, then you are eligible to compete in the Mayhem match, and you are eligible to compete for the WCW Championship at Starrcade......once you sign a WCW contract.....

....all you have to do is submit your interest to me, and then myself and the rest of the Committee will work through that list of names, until we narrow it down to the thirty entrants.....now, with that being said, there is one small concession we agreed to make with Vince Russo to allow for this open door policy....and that is that Shawn Michaels is NOT allowed entry into the Mayhem match.....UNLESS.....he signs a contract with World Championship Wrestling between now and midnight the Saturday before the event......"

.....Gene is particularly excited by this revelation, wondering which (if any) international stars we could potentially see at Mayhem....before asking Bischoff what the second point he had was?.....

.....Bischoff says that in the interest of opening the possible international boarders, he's also looking to open up the Championship opportunities around here as well.....he says that WCW has some of the greatest wrestlers in the world, but also wrestlers that (as long as Vince Russo has power) that will never be granted an opportunity to shine......men like Juventud Guerrera, like Kid Kash......like Taka Michinoku......men that just don't fit the mould that Vince Russo see's as a "top star", but also men that can do things that your Hollywood Hogans and your Warriors could only dream of........which is why we here in WCW are going to give them the opportunity to shine.......when they compete for this.......

......Bischoff turns off camera and picks an item up, which he holds up for the camera to see......

"......the WCW Cruiserweight Title.....and in the coming weeks we will be running a tournament to crown a champion.....with the final match coming at Starrcade.......thank you Gene......"

".......woah, woah, woah......hold on there esè.......make way for the Papi of Perfection holmes......"

.....the Papi of Perfection?.....that can only be Eddie Guerrero.....as the current reigning WCW United States Champion comes sauntering into shot with his title draped proudly over his shoulder......

"......oralè vato......if you're taking names for Mayhem, then your first name is right here esè......"

.....Eddie says that he's beat everyone there is to beat when it comes to his United States Championship, so the way he sees it, it's time to add some more gold to his collection.....the WCW Championship......

.....Bischoff looks unimpressed....telling Eddie that he's a great wrestler (when he's not cheating or taking short cuts) and he may well BE one of the thirty names competing in the Mayhem match.....but Bischoff highly doubts that he will win......not after he's already wrestled once that evening......

.....Eddie looks confused at that, telling Bischoff that Vince Russo hasn't booked him a match?....

"....no he hasn't.....but I have...."

.....Bischoff says that Eddie may claim to have beaten everyone worth beating.....but he's NEVER defeated Curt Hennig.....in fact, the only reason that he's here as the US Champion right now and Hennig isn't, is because Eddie has taken every cheap loss in the book to escape with the title......well, if he wants to escape with the title at Mayhem, then he's REALLY going to have to earn it.......because he's going to be defending the US Championship against Curt Hennig, one last time.......no count-outs.....no disqualifications......no pinfalls......no submissions......

"......no easy way out......because your title is going to be UP for grabs......quite literally......in a ladder match.............good luck "Papi"......"

.....with that, Bischoff slaps Eddie on the back and walks out of shot.....leaving a mortified looking United States Champion behind.

It's time for a title match now.....and it's a bit of a strange one.....

.....these two have met before for the WCW Television Title....back when Tajiri was a plucky underdog babyface.....now he's a member of James Vandenberg's Unholy Ministry.....and after turning his back on the popular Jeff Hardy, most definitely NOT a babyface.....but then neither is his opponent.....the cocky and arrogant Lance Storm.....so who the hell were the crowd supposed to cheer for?.....

.....luckily they didn't have to try and work it out for very long.....

......because midway through the match, both Mortis and Jeff Hardy came brawling their way out from the back and down the aisle.....

.....Mortis appears to have the advantage, but young Jeff Hardy must be getting sick of fighting Vandenberg's goons by now, and he is able to fight back, before finally sending Mortis flying into the crowd with a back body drop over the crowd rail......

.....Tajiri is suitably distracted by this, and as he turns his back on his opponent, a quick roll up is all Storm needs to win the match and retain his Championship....

Winner: ....and Still WCW Television Champion.....Lance Storm.
Rating: C+

Quote:

....not that Tajiri really has time to process the loss.....because as soon as the official rings the bell, Jeff Hardy is charging down the aisle away from Mortis and in his direction.....

.....with Mortis out of the equation briefly, Tajiri obviously decides that he's better off cutting his losses and getting the hell out of dodge.....and he quickly bails to the back with Hardy hot on his trail.....

.....which leaves Lance Storm all alone to celebrate his "victory"....and celebrate he does.....in fact, he spends so long boasting about his big win that he's still there in the ring when the next match is due to start.........and the first contestant makes his way out........

.......and what a contestant......because it's the undefeated rookie monster (who is currently 44-0 after picking up wins on our B-Shows through the week) Bill Goldberg......

......this isn't the first time that these two men have crossed paths.....they met in the aisle-way a few weeks back, which saw the (rather arrogant at the time) Television Champion decisively moved to one side......they also bumped into each other again on WCW Saturday Night....again with the confident champion attempting to dismiss the (so far) unstoppable Goldberg.....

......Storm isn't any more respectful here either.....and as Goldberg climbs into the ring for his match, Storm berates him for interrupting the Champion's Celebration.....telling him that someone should teach the rookie a little bit of respect.....Goldberg snarls at Storm (who almost drops the title he backs off that quickly) and the TV Champion tells Bill that he doesn't have time for this, turning to exit the ring.....

.....the fact that Goldberg IS a rookie has never been clearer than right here.....because instead of making sure that Storm has actually left the ring, he simply turns away.....and receives a shot from the Television Title right to the back of the skull that puts him down.....

.....now Storm DOES leave.....he's made his point.....and here comes His Lordship running down the aisle......someone is looking to steal a quick victory.....

(.....I know what you want here.....you want a repeat of that clusterf*** that was Bill Goldberg vs. Steven Regal from early 1998 don't ya? What the hell is wrong with you people

....well for what it's worth, Goldberg was seriously off his game tonight, and Regal was protected to take the loss without complaint.....so make of that what you will.....)

....Regal went for the cover the moment the bell rang, after all, the rookie was down....vulnerable....and knocked silly by Lance Storms Television Title....probably not going to have a better opportunity to beat the streak......

.....Goldberg does get his shoulder up at the last moment however, and Regal can't believe it.....guess that means it's time to try for the Regal Stretch.....

.....Goldberg isn't done just yet however, and he has enough power in his legs that Regal isn't able to fully apply the hold.....Regal transfers into almost a Crossface manoeuvre, but with his legs free Goldberg is able to power up to a standing position with Regal mounting him, before driving himself (and by proxy, Regal) hard into the turnbuckles....

.....His Lordship releases the hold, but Goldberg is still groggy from both the belt shot AND Regal's offence, and the former Television Champion is able to maintain the upper hand....the commentary team question exactly how much luck Regal would be having, had Lance Storm not introduced that Television Title to the back of Billy Boy's head....Heenan (who is a big fan of Goldberg on commentary) claims that this match would have been over five minutes ago had this been a straight up one on one match from the get go.....

.....in the end it doesn't matter.....Regal begins to get a little over confident at having the majority of the offence so far, and that comes back to bite him in the ass.....because Goldberg reverses an Irish Whip.....nails Regal with a Spear......and one Jackhammer later, Mr. Goldberg makes it 45-0.....and Mr. Regal is done....

Winner: Bill Goldberg

.....another impressive win for Goldberg, and as he has been doing since his debut, Bobby Heenan wonders what's next for "da man".....Schiavone says that Mean Gene has been attempting to find that out for months now and has yet to get a single answer out of the undefeated rookie.....Heenan says that's because Mean Gene is a hack, if you want the scoop then you should send a real broadcast journalist to interview him.....

"....someone like me...."

.....Schiavone and Tenay find that highly amusing, telling the Brain that is he's such a good "journalist" then he should go ahead and try.....the laughing obviously annoyed Bobby, because he gets up haughtily from his chair, indignantly marching over to the aisle-way, where the victorious Goldberg is marching to the back....

".....Mr. Goldberg?.....Mr. Goldberg?....Bill?....can I call you Bill?......I'm going to call you Bill.......another impressive display...another impressive win....I know you haven't had much to say to these other Humanoids, I wouldn't want Okerlund running out here bothering me either, especially when he's usually got mayo in his moustache......but you can tell the Brain the one question everyone has on their lips.....after 45 consecutive victories without a loss, there's only one thing we all want to know..........Who's Next?....."

......who's next?......that's got a bit of a ring to it hasn't it......looks like Goldberg thinks so too......because while he very nearly walks off without uttering a word, he changes his mind as he turns back to stare menacingly into the camera....and he growls his first spoken words since making his debut.....there are only four of them....but they're clear and to the point.....

".....Lance Storm.......YOU'RE NEXT!!....."

......before marching to the back, leaving a very smug looking Bobby Heenan to head back to his place at the announce table, point proved.....(four word) interview got......

Mean Gene may have been pipped to the post when it comes to getting a few words from Bill Goldberg......but in the now famous words of his CURRENT guest, "It Doesn't Matter"....because he's backstage with The Rock.....

.....Gene says that The Rock has made quite the impression on these fans since his arrival....but not everyone has been quite so enthused by his arrival....in fact, The Forgotten in particular have made their feelings about The Rock (and the number of other new arrivals) crystal clear...and while the emphasis right now may well be on entering the Mayhem match in less than two weeks, it's clear that Big Van Vader in particular, still has his sights set firmly on the Rock......

".....firmly on the Rock?......firmly on the Rock?.......Gene, the only thing Big Van Vader is going to have his sights firmly set on, is The Rock's foot kicking him straight in his Triple XL candy ass.......see The Rock, he already sent Bam Bam waddling back to Bedrock at Halloween Havoc.....he smacked the cobwebs off the Crypt Keeper on Nitro and sent Kevin Sullivan back to whatever creepy place he calls home.......as far as Big Van Vader goes, anytime Vader wants to go one on one with the Great One, he's going to find out what the Millions...and Millions of The Rock's fans already know.....and that's that Big Van Vader is nothing but a 450lb Grade-A piece of Monkeycrap....."

"......IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOU THINK GENE......see the Rock says this....two weeks time.....Mayhem Match......twenty nine jabronie's....one Rock.....The Rock is going to walk into Mayhem.....and he's going to toss body's over the top rope like Big Van Vader tosses salad.....scrap that....his fat ass hasn't seen a salad a day in his life......

.....in one night, the Rock is going to face men he's NEVER faced.....and probably one or two he has.......he's going to load the spaceship with the rocket fuel, and blast the Warrior back to parts unknown.....he's going to dance La Cucaracha on the face of Eddie Guerrero.....Lex Luger.....The Giant.....Chris Benoit.....Buff Bagwell.....the Totally Crappy Trio.......IT DOESN'T MATTER......because the Rock is walking into Mayhem the Great One, and walking out of Mayhem as the ONLY one.....the only one going to Starrcade....the only one crowned as the number one contender.....and the ONLY one walking out of the granddaddy of them all, the brand new WCW Champion of the World..................IF YA SMELLLLLLLLLLLALALAOW........what The Rock....is.....cooking.........."

Chris Benoit has had more than his fair share of problems with the Titans of Wrestling....The Canadian Crippler has been tipped for big things by virtually the whole wrestling industry....in fact, the only people that don't see the untapped potential in this former member of the Four Horsemen seem to be the Titans themselves, who have deemed Benoit "not at their level".....funnily enough, for someone not at his level, Chris Benoit certainly took Hollywood Hogan to the limit on a number of occasions, even narrowly missing out on capturing the WCW Title thanks to Titan interference.....

......speaking of Titan interference.....it reared its ugly head in this match too.....

.....it was a fairly even match.....after all, Buff Bagwell has been tipped as one of the next big things in wrestling for a reason.....but Benoit is a man alone, and Buff Bagwell certainly is not....

.....because where one Titan goes, another is never far behind.....and it's Randy Savage (another Titan who has a rather "colourful" history with Benoit) that makes his way out for this one.....and as Buff retains the attention of the official, Savage comes off the top with an Ax-Handle to the back of Benoit's skull that drives him down to the mat.....

......Savage bails to the floor, and Benoit slowly gets back to his feet.....but Buff is there in the corner waiting.....and one Blockbuster later, this one is all over.....

Winner: Buff Bagwell

.....well, the match is over.....the action is not....I'm sure a lot of people expected Benoit to pick up the win here tonight, but truth be told, Buff Bagwell eats the loss in more matches than he should, but that's what happens when you're the lowest name on the totem pole of a group that contains Hollywood Hogan, Randy Savage and The Warrior.....sometimes you have to take the losses that others wont.....so he deserves his victory tonight.....

.....Chris Benoit on the other hand, did NOT deserve the beating it looked as though he was about to receive.....and as Savage and Bagwell stand over him, it looks like it's about to go from bad to worse for the Crippler.......

.......fortunately for him, help is at hand......help in the form of Triple H and HB....ahem....I mean JPL and Shawn Michaels.....

.......the duo tear down the aisle and Levesque goes straight for his Mayhem opponent Buff Bagwell, tackling him to the mat and unloading on him with punches......

......as Randy Savage comes face to face with Shawn Michaels......

......The Macho Man has been quite vocal in his opinion of Shawn Michaels.....and lets him know again right now that there's no place for him here in WCW.....he doesn't work here.....he doesn't belong here......so just leave......

......Michaels is un-phased, telling Savage to hold on a minute.....he reaches into his pocket and pulls out a coach's whistle, which he puts around his neck......blows on while giving his "client" Jean Paul Levesque some encouragement in his current brawl with Bagwell......then turns back to face Savage......blows the whistle again.....

....while giving Savage the Crotch Chop......

.....oh, Macho doesn't like that.......and he charges straight at Michaels......who obviously anticipated just such a response......

.....because he's waiting with some Sweet Chin Music, right to the jaw of Savage.....

.....Macho goes down, just as Bagwell scurries free of Levesque....and Buff quickly grabs the fallen Randy Savage, dragging him to the outside and assisting the half conscious Macho Man back up the aisle and to the safety of the back......score one to Levesque in his war with the Titans......and he further cements his new found fan favouritism by helping Chris Benoit back to his feet......

.....Benoit is naturally suspicious (following Levesque's Titan antics in recent months) but he finally takes JPL's outstretched hand, thanking him for the assist.....

.....he turns and offers the same sentiments to Shawn Michaels.....but Michaels isn't interested....

.....Shawn tells Benoit that he's not out here for him.....he's out here for HIM (indicating to Levesque) so he can save his thanks for someone that cares.....

.....Michaels slaps Levesque on the back, pointing to the back in a "let's get out of here" gesture, before doing just that.....JPL follows, but not before giving Chris Benoit an almost apologetic look and a shrug of the shoulders, as manager and client head to the back.....and so do we......

.....where Mean Gene is standing by with Diamond Dallas Page, Kimberly.......and Lex Luger?....

.....Gene says that Page has got a hell of a match coming up, when he faces The Giant next......but while his opponent tonight is more mountain than man, this match is still dwarfed by the sheer size of the match that Page will be involved in at Mayhem.....truly the biggest match of his career, when he faces Hollywood Hogan for the WCW Championship.....

.....Page is in 100% agreement......saying that these next few matches aren't just the biggest matches of his career.....they're the biggest moments in his life.....he says that he knows full well that the 7 foot tall, near 500lb Giant is going to be the toughest match of his life......to date......but if he can get through the Giant tonight, then everybody will realise that Diamond Dallas Page is the real deal.....

"......and believe me.....if they DON'T.....then watching me drive Hollywood "Scum" Hogan's face into the mat at Mayhem, and bring the WCW Championship home where it belongs, will leave NO doubt that there is NOBODY that I can't put down with the Diamond Cutter....."

.....Gene turns his attention to Lex now, asking the Total Package what his part is in all this?....Luger says it's simple, he's learnt from his mistakes......he says that he's already lost one friend because he and The Giant were too focused on their individual goals....he's not planning on losing any more.....he says that he's here to support Diamond Dallas Page in his match tonight....and he's FULLY behind Diamond Dallas Page at Mayhem in his WCW Title Match....

.....Luger says that at Mayhem, he has two goals......winning the Mayhem match (and getting the Starrcade title shot in the process) and gaining some measure of revenge against the Giant for his actions last week.....and Lex says that when HE wins at Mayhem......and PAGE wins at Mayhem, he will be there to shake the man's hand both BEFORE their Starrcade showdown, and AFTER their Starrcade showdown......win....lose.....or draw......

.....as for tonight, Lex is going to be right there at ringside to make sure that the Titans of Wrestling don't show their faces......and to watch DDP make The Giant.....feel.....the.....

It's Main Event time.....and a huge stepping stone for Diamond Dallas Page on his road to Mayhem, when he has to go one on one with The Giant.....

.....the announcers remark that it's no surprise to see Page tested against a man like the Giant just 13 days before he challenges for the World Title, while the Champion has basically had the night off.....it clearly pays to have friends in high places (remarks The Brain).....

.....Lex Luger does indeed accompany his (new) friend DDP to the ring....and the Giant is quick to taunt him, asking how he feels after his little trip last week? Before telling him that it won't be long before Luger has no friends left at all, because The Giant is going to crush Page like a bug tonight....and as soon as he gets his hands on his other buddy, the "Stinger", he's going to pop his little face painted head like a grape too.....

.....Luger tells Giant to concentrate on Page, not him.....and he does.....and Page takes a hell of a beating truth be told......but we've seen how resilient this man can be.....we saw the beating he took at War Games.......we saw the beating he took at the hands of the Warrior.....and while he lost BOTH of those matches, he only really lost either because of outside influences.....

.....Giant's own cockiness is his undoing here....that and the fact that he's so focused on taunting Luger throughout, even slamming Page to the mat and then asking the Total Package if he remembers how this feels (as he stands on the chest of Dallas).....he tells Luger to watch this (wrapping his huge mitt around the throats of Page and hoisting him high in the air) holding his opponent in position as he shout to Lex that this Chokeslam is just for him.....

.....problem is, with all that delay, Dallas was able to find the time to shift his body weight......and from high up in the air he's able to transition from the Chokeslam, straight into the Diamond Cutter.......and BANG.......three seconds later, the everyman has defeated the giant......

Winner: Diamond Dallas Page
Rating: B

Not that Page gets to celebrate his (huge) victory for long.....because here come the Titans of Wrestling.....well....most of them.....Buff Bagwell and Randy Savage have obviously chosen to remain backstage to lick their wounds.....

.....of course, that still leaves Hollywood Hogan, The Warrior, and the Totally Awesome Trinity for Luger and Page to contend with.....that's five on two for anyone not keeping count.....not great odds.....and as the Titans surround the ring, it looks like there's a good chance of DDP not even making it to Mayhem.......

.....it's time to pay it forward though.....because after receiving a helping hand in his own outnumbered battle with the Titans earlier, Chris Benoit comes running down the aisle, slides under the bottom rope.....and stands side by side with Luger and Page......

.....it doesn't stop Hogan and co. from attacking though.....they still have the numbers advantage after all....

.....not that you'd know it.....

.....because as they climb into the ring, they are met by a cascade of blows that almost instantly sends them reeling.....Benoit is single handedly fighting off Copeland and Cage, while Luger and DDP more than hold their own against Hogan, Warrior, and Traylor......

....then The Giant gets back to his feet....

.....and drops Luger with a big headbutt to the back of his skull.....

.....is the Giant defecting to the Titans of Wrestling?....don't bet on it.....he may be helping out Hogan and his cronies here, but that's purely to get his hands on Lex Luger.....take the Total Package out of the equation and the Giant is still very much interested in stepping into the ring with Hollywood for the WCW Championship......

.....the babyfaces have no chance now.....Giant goes to work brutalising Lex Luger, Copeland, Cage and Traylor lay a Totally Awesome beatdown on Benoit.....and that leaves Hogan and Warrior to show DDP exactly what they think of him.....and as Warrior whips Page into a Big Boot, a loud chant begins to resonate throughout the arena.......

".......WE WANT STING.......WE WANT STING.......WE WANT STING......."

......except Sting ain't coming......Sting can't come......not unless Sting wants to find himself sat in the unemployment line......

......although as Hollywood Hogan drops the Leg across the fallen Diamond Dallas Page to close the show, the camera does catch sight of a lone figure high up in the rafters......

......watching.....waiting......helpless......beca use for now, that's all he can do......watch the Titans of Wrestling do what they do best......beat people down.......see you next week fans.
