Arrow Dev Diary #6 and #7: Here Come the Lawyers and Judgement Day

Yes, the world of Mafia Capo includes possibly hiring lawyers to defend your men should be they be caught. It isn't a cheap option, but in the long run could save your crew many years behind bars.

The screen:

I really tried to make it clear and attractive, with yearly costs and Reputation (which measures their perceived legal skill and local connections) from 1-20. The portraits are placeholders; you can use your own (just overwrite the existing pics), or hopefully ones provided by talented artists on these forums at a later stage.

Thoughts?

Default Dev Diary #7: Judgement Day

Judges are a part of Mafia Capo too, and their feelings towards your organization and their toughness on crime can vary as well.
The screen:

You can also bribe them, meaning you can sway them a bit towards your favor. Thoughts?

Is it safe to assume these values change over time? And is that actual toughness on crime, or perceived? Like if you bribe them for a year and they hand you some favorable verdicts, will the toughness go down?

It is actual toughness, and yes, the values can sometimes change over time. If many of your men go in front of them for trial, their dislike of you can increase.

Interesting. But shouldn't the fact we have them on our payroll decrease the stats, regardless of the number of men on trial? Just trying to fully understand the process. Seems like a very interesting feature.

Will there be a permadeath system for you, your henchmen, and npc's?

There will be deaths for your henchmen, which generally are permanent, though rare, much like real life. Your character will only die if you run out of money and cannot pay any of your guys over a period of time.

Default Play by play of Hits and control of planning

as my title says I think the boss should have final say on the strategies of hits and various out crimes your men present to you or are ordered to do. Recruitment is basically like getting them to sign a contract in WMMA45 you have to well respected to get great henchmen unless you have a random event that leads to a random recruitment opportunity that would be nice. Pick the disguise vehicle scouting of Hit targets and varying play by plays that happened on hits and crimes that have to do with the characters skills. bonuses for your men and maintaining loyalty among them will add a great nuance to the game and make it more difficult in a fun way. recruitment off soldiers should be fun and their descriptions and places you can go recruit them should vary to make them feel real. random job opportunities and random recruitment opportunities are key. buying business fronts and making them varies activities is a must; clean and dirty money category. User skill points categories must have an effect on your men's actions towards you ( ie. more job opportunities they bring up, and when rivals shoot at the main character and his main bodyguard isn't armed or up to par you can die and have to start over. i think there must be a chance to have the main die to increase replay value. scouting the right men must be important. your men will put their guns up if the neighborhood you are in is hot with police.
