Default Represent Popularity in "Social Media Followers"

This is one that might be a fun thing to help put some of the raw popularity values in the game world into perspective.

What if we had the option to represent popularity using number of followers as a 1st tier of Fog of War before being able to reveal grades and then numbers upon further exposure.

For example someone who is A*/100 overness might have 15million 'Followers' during a strong period in the wrestling industry, but the same popularity/person would bring in just 5million in a down industry.

For reference purposes currently: The Rock currently has 12.7m Twitter followers, Steve Austin 4.3m, Hulk Hogan, 2.2m, John Cena 11.3m.

Now, one could argue that both Cena and Rock are A* / 100 pop but the followers would mask that fact if Fog of War was on, leading the user to believe that maybe The Rock was an A* and Cena was an A.

Currently Cody Rhodes and Ted Dibiase Jr. have about the same amount of followers on Twitter (770k to 700k) but one could argue to Cody's real pop exceeds that of Ted's in the current wrestling world by a significant margin more than that. In the game maybe Ted's pop is a D+ and Cody is a B- but with the Fog of War on the followers not only mask that disparity but puts it into real life context for players.

This can extend to companies, albeit slightly differently. Your total number of followers would signify your worldwide popularity. Think of it as taking your popularity in every region in the game world, putting it into 1 sum value, and spitting it out into an easy to consume way.

Instead of looking at a company's pop in each country when comparing their popularities you can just compare their followers.

For example in real life WWE has 10.1m followers, Impact has 493k, ROH has 209k, and NJPW's Japanese account has 347k (their njpw global account has just 72k).

"purely cosmetic" and not needed in the game. If it were to be added in future games, it should only be as an option.

The biggest problem with this, is that social media numbers donít ever really fall in sports/entertainment based products, so if anything itís only a representation of peak relevance.

Using your examples, ROH by every measure available is now bigger than impact (crowd size, fan reception, tv coverage), but they have half the followers. Is it really signifying their global popularity then?

No it does not. But that's the entire point. It is another layer of smoke screen for Fog of War (as it is in real life as well).

You still have TV ratings and attendance in TEW. This is intended to be another layer of context.

And on a side not yes. Any entertainment industry brand's social media followers get taken into consideration when negotiating network deals and obtaining sponsorship.

Yup! As Adam is prepping for the next game I thought it went without mentioning that these suggestions are for a future iteration.
