Default Dev Diary #4: HQ Screen Prototype + Final Version

Here's a quick update with an early version of the HQ screen:

The members of your syndicate will be displayed along the right side, yet to be added... But the city grid is in and working. Displayed is the name of the street, and underneath each street is the rating for Police Presence and Local Economy, along with your cash and Respect level under the city map. My goal is to have all of your data in an easy-to-digest format at a glance to minimize clicking and such.

What do you guys think so far?

Love the clean look of all the screens thus far. This is especially visually appealing with the graphical overlay. Some of the street names are already making me laugh, looking forward to other random names generated.

I agree. I'm looking forward to seeing what assignments you can give your crew and how those assignments will be carried out.

I also appreciate the realistic dollar amount.

Thanks everyone! More revisions to the screen as its progressing:

Rearranged some elements, including moving the logo to the top, and adding the name and date bar to the bottom. Added a button for turning on and off the sound as well. More buttons will be added to hire lawyers, recruit more members, etc.

What do y'all think so far?

That wasn't what I pictured when you described it, but it works, probably better than what I had in mind. Will there be a description somewhere of the tiers (ie is Governed more or less police than Strong?) or color coding perhaps?

Built-in help screens will be added to the game at a later point. Governed is basically very police controlled, almost Martial Law. Crimes pulled out on those can net more money, but obviously more risk for your crew of being arrested.

Default Dev Diary #5: HQ Screen Advances

The HQ screen is shaping up quite nicely. Now i've added the crew members and their stats for easy access and viewing without any clicking:

Portraits are easily changed in the game files if desired.

Names are listed, along with the 6 basic stats and their levels, ages and experience points status.

The 6 stats on the right from top to bottom, all in the 1-20 range:
Thuggery - Controls their ability to be used for fighting, bodyguards, collecting loans, etc.
Petty Crimes - Their skill in executing basic 1-off crimes like burglary, pursesnatching, mugging, quick store holdups, etc.
Operations - Dictates their ability to set up more complex crimes like bank robbery, kidnapping, extortion, etc.
Hacking - Governs their skill with hacking databases, banks and such for profit.
Drugs - Governs their ability to be a drug dealer/distributor.
Legit - Yes, even a gangster needs to sometimes have 'business men' to start and run legitimate businesses. This rates their ability to do this successfully.

Inside the pic is their current Experience Level.

At the bottom is their Age (in the game, as people age, their stats can fluctuate, and eventually decline). Next to that is their experience points/amount needed to gain a level. When they gain a level, a random stat is increased by 1 and their yearly salary may increase a bit as well.

Feel free to let me know what you guys think of the screen and the stuff above. Is it easy to view and understand? I'm pretty jazzed about how its coming.

I like the portraits and the way the stats/characteristics are displayed. Very nice so far!

Where do you find their salaries?

Salaries will be displayed under each portrait. It's already there in fact.

Main HQ screen update, most elements in place now:

Added access buttons for various things under the street display, added salary display for each member, added game exit button.

It's looking nice and slick, IMO. Thoughts/opinions?

It has a very "realistic" approach. Looks way less cartoony than I expected. Can not wait for this!
