DECEMBER 2017, WEEK 4…

Show Rating: (88)

Announce Team:

Peter Michaels, Tom Townsend and 'The Saviour of Wrestling' Jonathan Faust

We kicked the show off with Ricky DeColt, Dan DaLay, Derek Frost and Robin DaLay in the ring... Last week, the group of fan favourites were tasked with choosing a member of their team to take on POISON tonight, by the NOTBPW General Manager: Alex DeColt... They told the world that Derek Frost would be that man, and he'll go 1 on 1 with 'The Riddler' a little later on... Conspicuous by his absence from the group, was Steve DeColt, who thanks to POISON (we think) has not been looking himself of late... and Ricky DeColt had something to say on the matter...

Ricky DeColt: “Last week... I was helping my sick brother in the back, and our supposed 'NEPHEW' Logan (DeColt) walked by... He could have helped... Steve (DeColt) could have done with the help... But Logan just walked off!! So Logan... I'm calling you out man... To teach you a lesson... Time for some 'tough love', just like Jack, Steve and Alex used to give me...!!”

'The Young Gun' Ricky DeColt [vs] Logan DeColt

Logan DeColt passed his Uncle Dan DaLay, and cousin Robin DaLay on the ramp, and barely acknowledged their existence. He then stepped into the ring with another of his Uncles: Ricky DeColt! From then on, it really was 'tough love' for Logan. Ricky battered him, and taught him a lesson in respect. However, such is Alex DeColt's hold over Logan, it's a lesson that probably didn't register. Ricky won it following a brilliant knee lift, followed by his 'DeColt .45' Super Kick!

Winner: 'The Young Gun' Ricky DeColt
Rating: 78
Finish: 'DeColt .45' Super Kick

After the match, the man known as POISON hit the ring, and began attacking Ricky DeColt!! Logan DeColt quickly realised what was going on, and he slid out of the ring slowly instead of helping his Uncle... Logan watched POISON put the boots to Ricky, and decided to leave him to it, probably for self-preservation reasons... But Ricky soon got some help, from an unlikely source... Gino Montero!! Gino was screwed over by Alex DeColt, and forced to fight his own brother, and send Luis Montero Jr. onto the unemployment shelf by beating him!! And Gino has decided to try to put a stop to Alex's reign of terror...!! POISON took a few punches, but decided to leave the ring himself... Gino then helped Ricky to his feet and glared at POISON!!

The announce team spoke about last week next, as we had a Number One Contenders Match for the NOTBPW Television Title... Sayeed Ali defeated Donte Dunn in a very good encounter, but Dunn will feel hard done by, because his former tag team partner Erik Strong interfered in the match... So tonight, we're getting a re-match between Dunn and Ali... and Erik Strong will be in the match too, making it a Triple Threat Match!! And that match... was on deck next!!

'The Barbadian Barbarian' Donte Dunn [vs] 'The Shooting Star' Erik Strong [vs] 'The East Side Assassin' Sayeed Ali

Two men that absolutely hate each other in Donte Dunn and Erik Strong, and one man who could care less about their rivalry, in Sayeed Ali. The leader of the Coast To Coast Connection just sat back to begin with, and allowed the two former tag team partners to beat each other down. He seized his opportunity after a couple of minutes, and stormed into the ring to take Dunn down with a low chop-block to the back of his knee! Ali controlled the match from that point onwards, and he used his 'Uppercut Palm Strike' finisher to defeat Dunn, after the fan favourite Barbadian had put Strong down with his 'Sunny Daze' (Spinning Back Fist) finisher!

Winner: 'The East Side Assassin' Sayeed Ali
Rating: 68
Finish: 'Uppercut Palm Strike'

So despite a questionable win last week, it WILL be Sayeed Ali heading to Big City Brawl to fight Sonny Wildside for the NOTBPW Television Championship... Wildside was stood backstage with interviewer Katie Cameron next, who asked if he was happy that Sayeed Ali had beaten Donte Dunn and Erik Strong, and if he'd had a preferred outcome to the Triple Threat Number One Contenders Match... Wildside stated that neither man winning would be an ideal scenario... because all three are very talented... But at least now he knows what he has to do...

Sonny Wildside: “I can now begin my preparations... But I'm not just preparing for Sayeed Ali... I'm preparing for Ross Henry, and Lenny Brown too... I know they'll be out there... I know I...”

Lenny Brown and Ross Henry walked onto the scene to interrupt Sonny Wildside, and the interruption stopped him in his tracks... He didn't show any fear, as he's the 'Man Without Fear', but he got ready for a fight... Brown and Henry told him to relax though... because they weren't there to fight him... They told him he was right though... At Big City Brawl, they WILL be in Sayeed Ali's corner... and they'll watch as their leader TAKES Wildside's Television Championship... The pair also confirmed that next week, they'd face The American Blondes, two of Widlside's friends, in tag team action!!

w/
'Awesome' Wade Orson [vs] 'The Animal' Edd Stone w/ Tim Westybrook

Edd Stone recently signed a long contract extension to stay in NOTBPW, and he has a real point to prove as the final active member of the Stone Family in the company! Wade Orson believes HE has a point to prove too, as he wants to prove to Ernest Youngman that he's a useful guy to be friends with. He proved how talented he is in the ring tonight, but he came unstuck against the crafty Edd Stone! Orson was looking for his 'Bounce Back' (kip up DDT) finisher late on, but as he kipped up, Edd delivered a thumb to the eye as the referee was distracted by Tim Westybrook. Edd then clubbed Orson over the back of the head to knock him down, and then hopped to the top rope to deliver the 'Party's Over' Elbow Drop!

Winner: 'The Animal' Edd Stone w/ Tim Westybrook
Rating: 80
Finish: 'Party's Over' Elbow Drop

Backstage, a furious Alex DeColt had Gino Montero in his office... 'The Mind' told Gino that if he thinks he can mess with the NOTBPW General Manager, he can think again... As his punishment for interfering in POISON's attack on Ricky DeColt earlier tonight, Gino is fighting in the Main Event... Against Gargantuan!! POISON will fight Derek Frost as planned tonight, and then at Big City Brawl, it'll be Ricky DeColt and POISON 1 on 1... Alex asked Gino if he has a problem with that, and the Mexican star said no through gritted teeth, and walked off...

We also learned of a match coming our way next week... After an impressive debut last week, another Mexican star: the masked El Fuego will be making another appearance, as he takes on Mark 'The Anvil' Griffin in singles action... El Fuego comes to NOTBPW with a big reputation, and rumour has it that Alex DeColt hopes that 'The Fire' will eclipse Gino Montero as the biggest Mexican name in the Canadian promotion... Time will tell on that one... But a match with the 245lb Griffin should prove to be a stern test for the newcomer...

Angry Gilmore & Trent Shaffer [vs] Bryan Vessey & Tim Westybrook

Fascinating tag team contest between these four experienced workers. Trent Shaffer took most of Tim Westybrook and Bryan Vessey's offence in the match, allowing a fresh Angry Gilmore to jump into the match with a 'hot tag' late on. Bryan Vessey quickly tagged out himself, and Westybrook and Gilmore got into a big fight. Shaffer was instrumental in Gilmore putting Westybrook away with his 'Anger Management' finisher, as he put himself between the submission hold, and the onrushing Bryan Vessey, which stopped the veteran breaking the hold up!

Winners: Angry Gilmore & Trent Shaffer
Rating: 80
Finish: 'Anger Management' Arm Bar

After the match, Angry Gilmore crouched next to his partner for the night, as 'Cut Throat' Trent Shaffer held his ribs... Meanwhile, on the other side of the ring, 'The Living Legend' Bryan Vessey was helping Westybrook up to his feet, and through the ropes... Angry Gilmore walked over to the pair of veterans, and outstretched a hand to offer a handshake of respect to Vessey... But the veteran American star looked to the crowd for approval, rather than instantly accepting the offer... The crowd chanted 'YES!' over and over again... Vessey moved his hand towards Gilmore, but then pie-faced him!! Gilmore turned away in anger... When he turned back around, Vessey had already climbed down and out of the ring...!!

We learned next that Dean Waldorf of The Ring Generals, will battle Aldous Blackfriar of Mayhem next week in singles action... Their rivals Primed For Progress (Cameron Vessey and Christian Price), will be watching closely at ringside... Because at Big City Brawl, Primed For Progress will defend their NOTBPW Tag Team Titles against both The Ring Generals (Dean Waldorf and Marv Statler) AND Mayhem (Aldous Blackfriar and Mutant), in a Triple Threat Match!! It'll be the toughest test Vessey and Price have faced for a while, as they won't have to be involved in the pin or submission to lose their Championships... Speaking of The Ring Generals, their friend Ernest Youngman was shown backstage next...

Wade Orson walked into the room Ernest Youngman was packing a bag in, and the youngster welcomed Orson politely... He then told Orson that he knows the 'Awesome' Brit wants to impress him, but it's all unnecessary... Youngman said he KNOWS how good Orson is... and 'The Assassin of the Squared Circle' told Orson to stop trying so hard... All Orson has to do, is team with Youngman, and become his partner for the Ed Henson Memorial Tag Team Cup!! Qualifiers will begin soon, and Youngman thinks it's a tournament they can win... Or at least get to the finals... against The Ring Generals!! Orson shook his hand, and thanked him...

w/
'The Ice Man' Derek Frost w/ Dan DaLay & Robin DaLay [vs] 'The Riddler' POISON

Derek Frost's mind was elsewhere tonight, and his friends Dan DaLay and Robin DaLay also seemed preoccupied. Their focus is probably on Dan's Nephew and Robin's Cousin: Logan DeColt, who has been disrespectful of late. Particularly earlier tonight, when he blanked them on the way to the ring. The fact is, you can't beat POISON if you're not fully focused on 'The Riddler', and so Frost found it tough out there. POISON goaded Robin DaLay onto the apron at one point, and with the referee distracted, POISON blew his 'Green Mist' into the face of his experienced opponent!

Winner: 'The Riddler' POISON
Rating: 82
Finish: 'Green Mist'

Backstage, looking worse than he's ever looked, 'The Outsider' Steve DeColt was shown watching POISON win, and shaking his head as he coughed his guts up!! His Brother 'Wild Man' Jack DeColt walked into the room, and showed genuine concern for his fellow DeColt... Jack held Steve up as he slouched in his chair, and Steve's gaze looked right past Jack, as if he didn't even see him!! Jack called out for a doctor, and a referee burst into the room... Jack screamed at him to go and get some help, and the referee turned and ran back out of the room... Not before slipping and almost knocking himself out on a nearby bench!! Jack consoled his brother, and again called out for someone to 'get some help'...

'Mexico's Prince' Gino Montero [vs] 'The Monster' Gargantuan

A one-sided match for around 90% of it, as Gargantuan had his way with Gino Montero. The announce team called him 'Mexico's Prince', but he was in there against a KING in Gargantuan. 'The Monster' used his might to throw Gino around as if he weighed next to nothing. The pace was slow and methodical, and Gino just couldn't get rolling. The fans never gave up on him though, and when Gargantuan went for a chokeslam, Gino managed to use his momentum to jump out of it, and land on his feet behind Gargantuan. Gino hit a dropkick from behind, and it sent 'The Monster' hard into the corner! Gino hit some nice offence from that point on, but he soon realised he wouldn't be able to hit his 'Destiny Explosion' (Canadian Destroyer) finisher! Eventually, Gino ran out of ideas, and he was finally HIT with a chokeslam. Gargantuan immediately followed up with his 'Ultimate Backbreaker', and Gino, just like everyone else, couldn't kick out.

Winner: 'The Monster' Gargantuan
Rating: 87
Finish: 'Ultimate Backbreaker' (Military Press Drop onto Knee)

The bell rang to signify the end of the match, and Gargantuan was handed his NOTBPW Canadian Championship Belt... The referee raised Gargantuan's hand, and he lifted the Belt with the other... As he turned around, James Hernandez, who had snuck into the ring behind him, exploded with his 'Apparition #14' Spear, attempting to cut his Big City Brawl opponent in half!! But to the shock of everyone in the building, and millions watching at home... Hernandez's finisher didn't have any sting to it at all... In fact, 'Mainstream' Hernandez just bounced off 'The Monster'!! Gargantuan's large frame has earned him a nearly two year undefeated streak, and there aren't many of his opponents in that time that have hit their finisher on him...

Everyone thought the show was over... and that would have been a great way to end the year... But instead, we got a surprising appearance from two NOTBPW Board Members: Jeremy Stone and Dan Stone Jr...!! 'The Canadian Wrestling Machine' and 'The Icon' had a huge announcement as it pertains to the second pay-per-view of 2018... Due to the amount of tag teams requesting to, or being invited to, compete in the Ed Henson Memorial Tag Team Cup in February, we're going to get Qualifiers running throughout January!! Starting next week!!

Dan Stone Jr.: “The first Qualifier, will see the NOTBPW DEBUT, of a team known as 'Hot Stuff'... Jay B, and Buff Martinez come to us from Europe, and they'll take on Lord James King and Akima Brave!! Furthermore... Next week, the NOTBPW Tag Team Champions: Primed For Progress will take on the GREATEST TAG TEAM OF ALL TIME... US!!”
Jeremy Stone: “Yes... And as former THREE TIME WINNERS of the Ed Henson Memorial Tag Team Cup...”
Dan Stone Jr.: “Umm... Actually Jeremy, I'm a FOUR time winner... I won it with you three times, and once with Duane (Stone)...”
Jeremy Stone: “Dan... So did I man...!! Aaaaanyway... For a one shot deal, Dan Stone Jr. and Jeremy Stone will team up again, to try and become record setting FOUR time winners... Together... Standing in our way, are one of the best teams of the last 2 years, but we're confident...”

Huge news to finish 2017... Dan Stone Jr. and Jeremy Stone haven't competed since the DeColt WrestleFestival in April, where they were beaten by their other brothers Duane Stone and Edd Stone!! But in the first show of 2018... January Week 1... they will compete in a Qualifier against the best tag team in the company... If they win, they'll go to the Ed Henson Memorial Tag Team Cup with the chance to become record four-time winners together (five times each)!! El Fuego will return to action next week... and we'll see Dean Waldorf taking on Aldous Blackfriar in a singles match!!

Ricky DeColt [def.] Logan DeColt
Edd Stone [def.] Wade Orson
Sayeed Ali [def.] Donte Dunn & Erik Strong
Angry Gilmore & Trent Shaffer [def.] Bryan Vessey & Tim Westybrook
POISON [def.] Derek Frost
Gargantuan [def.] Gino Montero

TCW continue to rebuild their roster... Referee Jay Fair, Brendan Idol, Grease Hogg and El Hijo Del Zonk all signed up in 2017... As the year turned into 2018, they added Angel Of Mercy, Nomad, Mario da Silva, Molokai Milk, Hannah Potter, Doctor O'Haire, Island Boy Apollo, Nathaniel Ca$ino, Stan Manna, Fox Mask, Peter Valentine, Demon Anger and Grandmaster Phunk!! Their signings have significantly harmed NOTBPW's Canadian rivals: CGC, with a lot of their mid card being ripped out from underneath their noses... Vin Tanner has now also signed for CGC to act as a road agent...

A few more TCW signings: Michael Bull, Jessie, Bradford Peverell, Brett Biggins (to join the company his brother was working for when he died), Al Coleman, Mobstar, Jake Idol, California Love Machine and Shady K... We'll take a closer look at their roster in the coming weeks...

Meanwhile, former 21CW star Harry Wilson has signed for USPW... They decided not to make an offer for Wilson's brother Dark Angel!

Oooohhhh YEAAAHHH!!! The Stones and The DeColts are my favourite story in the Cverse, and it's great to have so many of them as active members of my roster! I'll think of any old excuse to bring Jeremy and Dan out of retirement, as long as it doesn't take away from the talent I'm trying to build up.

Most Improved Company Of The Year: NOTBPW (The second time in a row I've won this!!)

Power 500, TOP 10:

1. Seiji Jimbo (PGHW)
2. Kozue Kawashima (PGHW)
3. PRIDE Koiso (PGHW)
4. Tommy Cornell (21CW and USPW)
5. Nicky Champion (SWF)
6. Yoshimi Mushashibo (PGHW)
7. Masaru Ugaki (PGHW)
8. Chojiro Kitoaji (PGHW)
9. Raymond Diaz (PGHW)
10. Multimillonario (SOTBPW)

Last year's Number One: Sammy Bach got a big move to USPW in 2017, but he dropped to Number 28 for this year's Power 500...

As for NOTBPW's performance in the Top 500, I thought I'd pick out some highlights, (our Top Ten) and show you just how far behind the rest of the big companies we are...

22. Steve DeColt (Last Year – 41) – I knew he'd be our highest ranked guy, and based on the plans I have for him in 2018, I think he will be again next year. Easily my most over guy, and the skills to match too. He's involved in just about every storyline I have going on right now... His current storyline is that he is not well... POISON has, well, poisoned him somehow, and he is struggling. The illness is showing on his face, and is starting to affect his body too. Meanwhile, the major storyline of 2017 has been Alex DeColt's SON Logan DeColt, and the effect it's had on the DeColt Family...

24. Jack DeColt (Last Year – 32) – Having so many DeColt Brothers around means that occasionally, one or two get forgotten about... I think it's fair to say Jack is the one I don't have a lot of plans for, and every month that passes it seems to stay that way... He's had some joy as NOTBPW Canadian Champion in the early part of the year, and had very good pay-per-view matches against Trent Shaffer, Gargantuan and his brothers Ricky and Steve DeColt... He carried Logan DeColt to a respectable 70 rated match at Summer Smash, but has averaged 88 in his matches. A valuable asset indeed!

31. Angry Gilmore (Last Year – 29) – Gilmore came in with a lot of promise, and has been my biggest signing to date... JUST eclipsing Aaron Andrews to that title... His lack of Star Quality hasn't helped his case for being one of my top guys and a NOTBPW Canadian Champion... I know I harp on about SQ, but it's important in National Battles, which I LOSE all the time... TCW are now in the battles with us, and although I beat them, I normally come 3rd behind SWF and USPW!! Gilmore is ultra-talented, and will be a valued edition to the Main Event scene... He can have a good match with just about anyone!

47. Ricky DeColt (Last Year – 36) – Ricky DeColt is an interesting case... Again, a lack of Star Quality stops him being a top, top name in NOTBPW due to the National Battles... But again, he's heavily involved in most of my big stories... Furthermore, he always delivers in the ring!! I plan to work him down the card a little in the coming months, but to have him as an upper or mid carder would make the matches involving those guys dramatically improve!

61. Gargantuan (Last Year – 313) – Amazing result to have Gargantuan this high in the rankings... 'The Monster' is still undefeated since I signed him, his only 'blip' being a draw against James Hernandez in a Champion versus Champion match... It's hard to say if he or Steve DeColt are the VIP of my roster, but only one of them holds the Championship... There's only so much you can do with a Champion like him though... Only so many times I can book a challenger lose, but almost win, and then lose again...

70. James Hernandez (Last Year – 188) – 'Mainstream' James Hernandez has had a fantastic 2017, and that has been shown by the rise in his position in this ranking... I said Angry Gilmore was the biggest signing I made, followed closely by Aaron Andrews, but there's an argument to be made that in a year's time, I might be saying that it's Jimmy! He's a fantastic in-ring performer, his Star Quality and Charisma are among the best in the company, and he's only 31!! The future is bright for Hernandez!!

84. Gino Montero (Last Year – 142) – Expect to see Gino Montero a LOT higher next year... I'd be surprised if he isn't inside the top 50, and could even go a lot further than that if my plans come to fruition... An exceptional talent with his best years still to come... 97 Star Quality... and some excellent performances in 2017!! His Brother Luis Montero Jr. is gone, and in a company/diary focused on family connections, that could hamper him somewhat at times... But I have big plans for Gino!!

91. Christian Price and 93. Cameron Vessey (Last Year – 166 and 163) – Price just beat Cameron Vessey, after Vessey just beat him last year... The two guys who have held my Tag Team Division together!! Primed For Progress are primed for another big year with NOTBPW... The current, and 3-time Tag Champs, have the mouthwatering prospect of the returns of Owen Love (and therefore the CanAm Blondes), and Jacob Jett (of World's Most Wanted)!! 2018 promises to be a big year for tag teams, beginning with February's Ed Henson Memorial Tag team Cup!!

94. Edd Stone (Last Year – 98) – A kind of 'stay where you are' year for Edd Stone... He's done well in every feud I gave him in 2017... From taking out and retiring Sean McFly (twice), to turning on his brother Duane and ending HIS NOTBPW run... to creating a group of 'bad guys' to help watch his back... He might be a little bit disappointed to fall behind Price and Vessey, who are IN his group of 'Animals', but he won't mind too much... With all of his Family now gone, the question is, what's next for Edd?! The possible creation of a new Championship could help him more than anyone else...

100. Thrill Seeker (Last Year – 168) – Seeker, Jacob Jett, Christian Price and Cameron Vessey had an amazing 2016, and all finished around the same position... In 2017, with Jett out injured, I expected Seeker to be a lot lower than this, but he's done well in his singles matches to date... I haven't put him in any storylines, so a place in the Top 100 is excellent!! Jacob Jett made it to 114, so that's a sign as to why Seeker got so high...

Notable absences from the Top 100:
Jonathan Faust - 102
Aaron Andrews – 107
Owen Love – 111
Bryan Vessey – 113
Jacob Jett – 114
Sonny Wildside – 122
Trent Shaffer – 130
The Natural – 145 – way below his injured partner Owen Love!!
Tim Westybrook – 163
Dan DaLay – 179

The American Blondes [vs] The Coast To Coast Connection
Blondes have been perfect in their role as the enhancement talent - Gold is young and getting the rub from his veteran partner, and The Natural gets to stay fresh while waiting for his partner to return.

'Deadly' Dean Waldorf [vs] 'Dark Watch' Aldous Blackfriar
Mayhem has been a tough team for you to book because from what I can see you are trying to hold on to Mutant's mystique. If I recall correctly I don't think he's ever cleanly lost himself. Blackfriar cheats a lot and steals his wins but for you to have an even "50/50" feud with another team, I think Aldous needs to take a loss here. Mayhem are very vengeful (they have been holding onto a grudge with the Blondes for a while now) so a loss for Blackfriar can put Dean and Marv in their sights.

Ed Henson Memorial Tag Team Cup Qualifier:
Hot Stuff (Jay B & Buff Martinez) [vs] Lord James King & Akima Brave
If King and Brave were an actual team I might have leaned toward them, but I like th British flavour that Jay B and Martinez add.

Mark 'The Anvil' Griffin [vs] El Fuego
Luis- I mean "El Fuego" continues his run through the job squad before his reveal.

Ricky DeColt & Gino Montero [vs] Logan DeColt & POISON
POISON has been red hot, and Logan can afford to take his licks. Gino keeps shooting up the card.

Ed Henson Memorial Tag Team Cup Qualifier:
The Stone Brothers (Dan & Jeremey) [vs] Primed For Progress (Cameron Vessey & Christian Price)
Tough call but it'd be criminal for them to not make the actual cup!

Thoughts on the End Of Year Awards and Power 500 Results: I am kind of happy to see PGHW dominating the top of the awards especially the power 500, for some reason they always close in my playthroughs.

The American Blondes [vs] The Coast To Coast Connection
American Blondes are lost as Natural waits for Love to heal back up. C2C gets a win as the stable continues to build its momentum.

'Deadly' Dean Waldorf [vs] 'Dark Watch' Aldous Blackfriar
We've been waiting for Mayhem to make its move, and it is time. Blackfriar has the skills...let him flash them.

Ed Henson Memorial Tag Team Cup Qualifier:
Hot Stuff (Jay B & Buff Martinez) [vs] Lord James King & Akima Brave
Those two are decent enough to get some pop for the British boys, but not enough up the card to argue this too much.

Mark 'The Anvil' Griffin [vs] El Fuego
Despite my constant call to push Griffin, it has gone ignored. So I'll just have to go El Fuego.

Ricky DeColt & Gino Montero [vs] Logan DeColt & POISON
Going against the grain and taking DeColt and POISON because I think they need that bump. Let Uncle Ricky take a fall here before getting his hands on POISON at the PPV.

Ed Henson Memorial Tag Team Cup Qualifier:
The Stone Brothers (Dan & Jeremey) [vs] Primed For Progress (Cameron Vessey & Christian Price)
Damn, one of these teams won't get a shot. Still, the old guys aren't coming back to lose, right?

Thoughts on the End Of Year Awards and Power 500 Results: I was pleasantly surprised to see so many of your guys making their way into the Top 50. Gargantuan and Hernandez should get in there within another year, giving you some guys that can really go being in your title picture. I also agree that Hernandez is going to be the guy that carries you into the big time...
