Midwest Championship Wrestling - Card Subject to Change

My name is Aaron Fujita. Some of you may have heard of me. I’m a wrestler in the United States, making regular appearances for some of the smaller promotions. I’ve even “done my job” on episodes of both Total Wrestling and Supreme TV. Most of my work has been isolated to CZCW, MAW and PSW, but in the last few months I’ve been making a lot of appearances for a new promotion; Midwest Championship Wrestling owned and operated by Jay Fair. Let me explain things a little bit. Rip Chord has always been known for developing young wrestlers and then releasing them into the wrestling world as a way to give back to the business. Nobody knew he had taken Jay Fair under his wing with the same intentions in mind for an owner. For years Rip secretly took Jay in and showed him the ins and outs of owning and operating a promotion. Finally in August of 2009 Rip gave Jay his blessing and told him it was time. The stingy old timer even gave Jay a little bit of money to start out with. Midwest Championship Wrestling was the result of all of that training. Jay has been running shows for five months now. He has built a solid roster of young and veteran talent. Some guys had come over from MAW when the company started off, with the blessing of Rip Chord of course. Steve Flash had been crowned MCW’s first Heavyweight Champion and was still defending the belt. MCW was classified as a “Small” promotion and concentrated running its shows in its home region; the Midwest. The December show just wrapped up and I’m ready to head home. As I walked down the hall towards the parking lot doors, I stopped by Jay’s office to collect my pay day. It wasn’t much, about $500 to cover travel and my wages for the night working as one of his main event guys. I liked this place though and enjoyed working for Jay. When I stopped in he asked me to sit down across from him and slowly filed through the pre-filled envelopes. “What’s up, Jay?” I asked as I set my bag down on the floor beside my chair. He remained silent for a few more seconds as he pulled my envelope out and slid it across the desk. I would leave it sitting there for a few minutes as a courtesy. “You know Rip Chord has a great booking mind and he tried really hard to pass that along to me.” Jay started. “Three years I studied the way he ran his shows and I’m still flabbergasted as to how he does it.” “Jay,” I scoffed. “You book a good show.” He shook his head in disagreement. “I’m not saying I’m terrible, but I’m just keeping my head above water. Nothing I’m doing is ground breaking and edgy.” He stated. I wouldn’t have said it to him, but I couldn’t help but agree a little bit. Jay was booking good matches, but he just wasn’t coming up with exciting stories. “So what are you considering?” I asked. “Well,” he rubbed his chin before continuing. “I’ve been thinking about hiring a different booker.” “Who do you have in mind?” I inquired. I reached up and rubbed my goatee as I waited for his response. “I was thinking about putting Marvin Ernest in the spot since he is already under contract, but I feel like he may want too much money. Then I thought about bringing Mean Jean in from MAW, but he’s already stretched so thin wrestling and booking there that he’d be burnt out here.” Jay paused momentarily. That’s when it hit me. I thought about him asking me to book for him, but then shook the thought off. I had no experience booking, nor a reputation of business. I went to school for meteorology, not management. So I figured I was in the clear. “So who else were you thinking?” I asked. I kept going over possible names in my head, but the list kept getting shorter and shorter as I ruled each one of them out due to availability or asking price. “How about you?” Jay asked. He smirked a little as my mouth went agape. “Don’t act so surprised.” “Why me?” I was still a little taken back from his offer. “I’ve never booked a show in my life.” “Don’t kid yourself Aaron. You’ve come up with some great ideas in the last year.” Jay complimented. “They may not have been full-fledged storylines but someone who can come up with finishes and angles like that HAS to be successful as a booker.” I still wasn’t convinced. I enjoyed wrestling for my paychecks. The thought of having the fate of a company resting on my creative ability was a bit startling. “I don’t know Jay.” “At least try it out for a few shows.” He said. “Try it out and if it’s not for you, I’ll find someone else for the job.” It was tempting. Very, very tempting. I remained silent for a few moments before finally deciding it would be worth the gamble. “Why not?” I said. “I’ll give it a shot.” Jay broke into a wide grin. He must have figured I would take the opportunity, because he quickly grabbed a piece of paper in front of him. “I’m so glad that you’re doing it Aaron,” he started. “But this isn’t John Wayne time. There will be guidelines. I’ve got a lot of money invested in this company and you’ll be dealing with the finances. I want a profit, a LARGE profit in the next two years.” I wasn’t exactly sure how much a profit he wanted, but I’d sure do my best to fulfill his request. “And I may not have done great, but I’ve worked hard getting us to the level we’re at,” he sternly stated. “So don’t lose the progress I’ve made.” It made sense. “I want our guys at least minutely able to call their own matches. So try to hire guys with a good understanding of match psychology,” He asked. “Keep guys with bad reputations out of the locker room too. They’ll cause problems you don’t need.” We discussed the specifics of the deal into the wee hours of the morning. So much for my plans of getting to bed early tonight.

Well, I'm back! I couldn't fight the urge to write anymore and the e-fed I was in is shutting down after over 10 years of operation. So its back here with another dynasty. I have updated the second post with the roster. I'll be adding title history sections and other stuff later tonight. Once this is all set up, things will get under way. I think I'm going to take a less involved approach this time, much like my first ever dynasty from TEW 2007. Even though Jay pretty much laid the realm of my control out for me word for word, I still wasn’t sure what I could and couldn’t do. I made a big long list of things I wanted to do and divided it up into lists of what I thought I could and probably couldn’t do. I e-mailed it to Jay and he politely explained to me that I had full control over MCW. As long as I followed the rules and met the goals he had set in front of me, I had free reign on the direction of the company. That kind of took me by surprise. But I went to work.

My first order of business was bringing in one more midcarder to round out the roster. I spent a few days racking my brain and finally settled on Kashmir Singh. Kashmir was a guy who could play both the babyface and the heel role and was a nice guy to boot. His in-ring skills were progressing and I knew he’d be a solid member of the roster down the road. He agreed to a decent pay per appearance contract and would be available for the next show. My next order of business was to, and as much as I didn’t like it, find someone to play the authority in our company. I loved the physical aspect of wrestling and loved the modern style. I wasn’t huge on the entertainment style, but it is what wrestling is. I found that person, by recommendation of Jacob Jett if you’ll believe it, in Katie Cameron. She’s beautiful, she can talk and she presents herself well. I think she’ll work out nicely.

I also knew that with the guys on our roster, it wouldn’t be long before the bigger companies came calling. I knew I needed to take action, but wasn’t completely convinced I’d be successful. So I spent a few days making calls to Richard Eisen, Sam Strong, Tommy Cornell, Dan Stone, and the DeColts among others. After convincing them I wasn’t just a fan who had somehow gotten their numbers, I went to work trying to soften them up and put some non-aggression pacts and working agreements in place. To my surprise, Richard Eisen was the only one of the bigger owners that agreed to the non-aggression pact. I was able to put working agreements into place with TCW, USPW and NOTBPW. The DeColts just weren’t interested in anything.

I felt good about the strides I had made my first week and a half in control. Then I moved my focus to our next show which fittingly was called Dawnings. I made myself watch every show Jay had booked to familiarize myself with the stories that were in place. I realized that there wasn’t much going on at the time and it was up to me to start telling some stories. I also decided to add a belt for the mid-level guys to vie for. I wanted to create a kind of alternative to other products that were out there, so it seemed fitting to call it the Alternative Title. I had an idea to crown the first champion and factored that into my first card. I submitted the card to our flyer maker and the show was announced. This is what I had put together.

These four men fight for the right to fight each other in this match. The winning team will duke it out immediately following the match for the right to call themselves the first ever Alternative Champion.

Well, Dawnings was upon us. I was more nervous than I had ever been before a show. The entire night rested on my shoulders not to mention I had to go out and wrestle a match of my own. I sat in locker room, secluding myself at first. Enough of the boys razzed me about it and I finally became more social as the show grew closer. Curt O’Malley entertained us all with hilarious cartoon drawings of the whole roster. Who knew that our resident wrestling expert was also such a good artist? Before we knew it, the fun was over and it was time to get down to business. The 7 P.M. bell time was upon us.

I created a background image in Photoshop and used some coding to make it fixed to the webpage. Then I just made an HTML document, coded the show and inserted it into the post with an iframe. And thanks for the nice comments man! I hope to have you on board.
