WWE in 2016: Here we go (again)...
Hi everybody. Lloyd here.
As many of you know, I had laptop issues with my previous 21CW Cverse diary. Thanks for all of your comments and well-wishes through what was a difficult time for me! (That sounds sarcastic, but it was hard! I LOVE writing diaries/playing TEW, so to have no laptop and no game, I was a mess for a long time!) I was gutted about losing the save when I got my laptop back, as I was just starting to get to a point where everyone had a character, and I was establishing a scenario where there were a lot of 'unbeaten' guys on the roster who could clash and do well on a pay-per-view. But enough about that, because this is my new project, and it's back to my roots with WWE (again)!
In the past, I've written four diaries here on GDS (and none anywhere else) and two of them have been with the WWE, so they are 'my' company really. When my laptop went down I spent a couple of weeks doing nothing, and then a couple of weeks planning and beginning this diary, as I think it's a really interesting time in wrestling right now. The WWE (and NXT) are killing it, while ROH, TNA, NJPW and Lucha Underground are getting hotter and hotter! Add to that the excitement of the Cruiserweight Classic and there's plenty to be excited about.
I thought I'd wait until the inevitable influx of WWE diaries died down a bit. When something like the draft happens everyone (especially me) gets their booking cap on and starts to think about how they would do it differently. But for me, as I'll detail in my 'game rules' below, I'm keeping the draft in place the way it happened in real life.
My start point is the SECOND week after the draft! So Finn Balor is the Number One Contender for the WWE Universal Title, and his SummerSlam opponent is Seth Rollins. Dean Ambrose and Dolph Ziggler will battle for the WWE World Title at SummerSlam. Other than that, almost all other feuds and SummerSlam matches are changeable, and in the couple of weeks I've written so far, a LOT has changed! There is no JeriKO in this universe (unfortunately)... (yet?)... for example. But I will be making some small changes. I'll list the rules now, and then the changes I've made.
GAME RULES:
[Rule 1] - Signings and Promotions from NXT may only occur at a rate of ONCE per month inclusive of both shows! For instance: If RAW signs someone in January, then Smackdown! Live can't until February, and so on. Tag Teams come as ONE signing/promotion. (with the exception of August, my first month, where I will be bringing in a few talents to pad out the roster. More on those later).
[Rule 2] – All signings TO NXT will be made by you guys through the medium of Prediction Prizes! In the past, I've gone and signed a bunch of guys and girls and my rosters have exploded. Rules 1 and 2 should help stop that from happening.
[Rule 3] – All signings TO NXT will remain in NXT for six months minimum! There are no exceptions to this rule once August is out of the way!
[Rule 4] – If someone is retired, I will not have them wrestle in this diary... I've made this 'mistake' in the past, and while it was fun to write Stone Cold Steve Austin versus Goldberg, it's a little un-realistic really! As much as I'd love to bring Mick Foley or Daniel Bryan (or both) back, I will try not to!
[Rule 5] – If someone is on my 'Time Decline' list, they will not hold a Championship here! As I understand it, stats will diminish at an alarming rate in some cases once they're on this list, and so these workers will be used to 'pass the torch' to the younger generation. The list currently stands at five: Kane, Rhino, R-Truth, Goldust and Chris Jericho. Jericho is the only real shame in that list, but rules are rules! If we didn't have rules, where would we be?! (France)...
ALTERATIONS TO REAL LIFE EVENTS:
[Alteration 1] – I have signed two female talents to the main roster, as they're ideal to work as babyface enhancement talents in the small women's divisions. For RAW, it's Santana Garrett, and for Smackdown! Live, Tess Blanchard. I really think both have done some great work in the past 12 months, but there are a lot more established characters on the roster, so they'll be jobbers for now!
[Alteration 2] – The Cruiserweight Division on RAW is pretty much non-existent! Sin Cara and Neville are the only two RAW draftees who fall under the 205lb weight limit used for the Cruiserweight Classic. I have therefore signed a few Cruiserweight Classic competitors. I think the WWE will (and has) signed some too in real life. But I've chosen six logical picks for my Cruiserweight Division. I'm not telling you who they are yet. Let them be a surprise.
[Alteration 3] – Shelton Benjamin works a show, and THEN gets injured. I began planning this diary with him very much in my plans. Many of you know, I'm a big Shelton Benjamin guy, and I was so pleased to see he'd been signed! So I signed him, and had him work one match, and THEN give him around 6 months holiday to keep him off TV and be 'injured' but then one day return.
[Alteration 4] – Tyson Kidd is in my plans for a comeback when his injury is over on the game (6 months). Again, massive Kidd fan, and I wish him all the best in his recovery. I'm hopeful that one day he'll come back to the ring. It's looking more and more doubtful, but I've been wrong before! I don't feel that Kidd working in this diary is breaking Rule 4, because he's not a significant star like Shawn Michaels, Austin, Goldberg. He's not massively over, and therefore it wouldn't be 'cheating'.
[Alteration 5] – And finally. B-Shows. I've never really done B-Shows, but I'm going to give it a go here. RAW's 'pre-show' will now be an episode of WWE Superstars, where we'll have a couple of matches and angles while the crowd arrives at the show. Smackdown! Live will get WWE Main Event as it's 'pre-show'/B-Show, where again, they'll get a couple of matches and angles that build up the episode of Smackdown! Live coming up after it! I won't be writing 'Talking Smack', even though it's quickly becoming my favourite show on the Network!
So there we have it. No elaborate back-story as such, just me booking for the WWE (again) in the current climate, with a few rules to stick to, and a few alterations to real life! OH! Almost forgot! SummerSlam is a week earlier than in real life, so 'Sunday, August Week 2' instead of Week 3.
My start point is August, Week 1...
The mod I'm using is Fleisch's awesome Real World mod...
The pics were made by me, and TheWho87, Fleisch, and Meechy among others, so thanks guys!
And that's it...
Here we go (again)...
