Default 10-8

Can WMMA5 have the option of using UFC's new system where 10-8 score are more common?

Is there really something wrong with the current one? If it were really common, draws would be more common as well, and so far I don't think this is true.

It's early, but I like UFC's new rules.

Being in the UK/EU and Middle East, every show I've worked since the amendments were introduced has adopted them, and there haven't been more draws. If anything allowing the more liberal 10-8s has produced for more decisive scoring

Not actually anything to do with the UFC. The rules have been modified by the Association of Boxing Commissions. Each State Athletic Commission in the US now needs to vote them in for them to become rule of law, which is why you'll see the UFC announce that the rules have/have not been adopted at the top of most broadcasts.

When the UFC act as their own commission overseas they always adopt the rules and when it comes to non-UFC shows that use the Unified Rules, the vast majority of officials implement the new version.

Fundamentally fights are now scored very differently; for example volume no longer matters versus impact and defensive techniques (sub defense, takedown defense etc) is now completely ignored.

Hey Brad! Long time no see! How is life as an insider?

It's great that there's now more clarity concerning the scoring. It's often depressing to watch fighters lose a close decision that could've gone either way. It's not exactly a Premier League match and a lot is on the line. You only have a couple of fights a year.

Busy mate, very busy! Been as far afield as Chechnya, Dubai and...erm...Wolverhampton over the past few years. Just enjoying the January MMA break (and playing a lot of WMMA4) before I go back on the road

Judging standards are getting a lot better, combined with the new rules things are going in the right direction. One of the key things is that the threshold for a 10-8 round has been lowered significantly and judges are instructed to use them more liberally. It really helps when you have a situation where a round is won clearly by fighter A, vs a round that is just nicked by fighter B. Previously they both might have been scored 10-9, whereas now there's a good chance fighter A gets a 10-8 for his efforts.

Hope you're well dude
