4-3 Playbook Issues

I just recently switched to a 4-3 defensive philosophy.

I opened the defensive playbook for the first time to get a feel for the various plays.

There seems to be a LOT of inconsistencies around plays involving blitzing LB's.

For instance:

1. 43-norm-mz-b5,6...play diagram shows MLB and SLB...text under play diagram reads WLB and MLB.

2. 43-norm-sz-b5,7...play diagram shows SLB....text under play diagram reads WLB and SLB.

3. 43-norm-dz-b5,7...play diagram shows SLB...text under play diagram reads none.

With out going into all the gory detail here are six more that don't match:
43-norm-mz-b5,6
43-run-man-b5-L
43-run-man-b5,7
43-run-sz-b5
43-pass-man-b5
43-pass-mz-b5,7

Without waiting for a fix/patch...WHICH of the three options are actually how the particular play is designed to unfold:

1. The formation descrirtion (43-norm-dz-b5,7)???

2. The actual play diagram itself???

3. The text underneath the play diagram that says BLITZERS???

I feel like I am standing on the sidelines during a game and I ask my DC as to what play he recommends that I call. He points to one of the above nine plays in his color coded, plastic wrapped, 4-3 defensive gameplan spreadsheet. I point out the inconsistencies....he just looks at me...and shrugs his shoulders..and says darn if he knows, let's wait and see what happens on the field. No wonder he is rated BELOW AVERAGE in play calling ability.

PS: note to self...fire his butt at end of season!! No wonder I win only 2-4 games a year. Something about soaring with eagles, but surrounded by turkeys comes to mind.

The blitzers listed are correct. it's a display issue involving some of the play diagrams. I will fix it for 1.04. But, for now, look at the names in the blitzing field under the play - that's accurate.

I just checked it and it's an issue with the weak side blitz image and placement. That will be fixed for 1.04. But the play name and blitzers are correct - 5 is WLB, 6 is MLB and 7 is SLB.

I understand from your posting that the play description and the "blitzer" text under the play diagram are in sync together and s/b used in play call selection.

Item #3 in my post shows NONE in the blitzer text with the play description indicating two (WLB,SLB): 43-norm-dz-b5,7. What do you advise on this one?

It's another display issue. For now, assume no blitzers, but it will be changed to show two blitzers in 1.04.
