According to several sources, World Wrestling Entertainment made the decision to sever ties with Jody Hamilton's Deep South Wrestling after a number of issues the company wasn't happy with in recent months. When Bruce Prichard visited the developmental territory last week, he brought back a negative report, which was said to be the final straw in the situation. WWE sent someone down to DSW (I'm guessing Mike Bucci since I would assume John Laurinaitis is on the European tour) to oversee the split from their end today.

Nothing has been settled yet as to what will happen to the WWE developmental talents that were assigned to DSW. Some will be sent over to Ohio Valley Wrestling, while it's also possible some may be releases due to the glut of talents. There's also a chance some may be brought up to the main rosters to fill out the existing brands.

There are rumors making the rounds that either King Booker's PWA in Houston and/or Steve Keirn's school in Tampa, Florida are in the running to replace DSW as an official WWE developmental division, but I am told that everything is still very much in the air and nothing has been settled.

Y'know...with Booker's career probably winding up soon, I could definitely think of worse people to have a hand in the development of WWE talent.

He's not so old school that young wrestlers would feel totally disconnected from him. He's a good worker with personality who worked his way up from a tag team to solid midcarder to main eventer in the WCW and then stuck with the WWE even after they squashed his heat (during the Invasion and again against Triple H). And then at the end of his career he gets a world title reign and reinvents himself as King Booker.

He's a true success story and he did it the right way. Hard work, great performances, and perserverance..he didn't just have 'that look' and get handed a main event slot a few months after his debut. Definitely the kind or perspective that would do wonders for new signees.

Most definetly, Booker Huffman has had a top career and has a lot of knowledge he could pass on.

You're right. If I went in for wrestling training, and I saw Booker T, I'd be pretty damn happy about it.

if bookers fed gets the nod look for booker to retire from wrestling to concentrate on his fed the good thing about that is that he will take sharmell too

Y'know, now that I think about it, Peter makes a very good point. Booker started at or near the bottom and he's been at the top in recent memory so his perspective would be very useful.
