I came up with a few I thought were pretty good for DAVE.

The Battle Of Evermore, Day Of The Underdog, Fire On The Mountain, Shelter From The Storm, and, two of my personal favorites, There Goes The Neighborhood and Thin Line Between Love And Hate. In "My Own Personal CornellVerse", I came up with the notion that once upon a time, many years ago, after both Nemesis and Tommy Cornell had left the SWF, Cornell made a special one night only appearance in DAVE, a special rematch of the SWF classic between the two at an event called "The Ego Has Landed". I thought that was a pretty cool idea, and consider it to be one of DAVE's defining moments in my private little gameworld.

I also have a cool little event each year called "Legends Night In TCW", where the legends of the company are honored and great matches are held.

Anyway, I got some good PPV names from the writer's suggestion list in EWR, a lot of those names seem "CornellVercise" to me.

There's some pretty good ones in there.

Hey checking EWR is a good call. Usually I really don't care about what I name things, but for my diary I've been struggling.

I usually search for song titles that would fit for a wrestling show name.

Names for PPVs can come from anywhere. In my diary game, I got PPV names from existing/past promotions (Halloween Havoc, Chick Fight), other games ('Breakdown' was shortened from 'Breakdown in Communications', the name of an old quest series in EverQuest), the Bible (Genesis, Revelations), movies (Independence Day, Legends of the Fall), real events (World War), literature (A Midsummer Night's Dream), and a general mood/tone (Tag Team Turmoil). Then some random ideas (Sky High, Mayday, Spring Fling) thrown in as well.

Everything you see or hear can be a PPV name. I've used "Who Farted?" in at least one game. Song/album titles (Eat The Rich, Ridin', Overnight Celebrity, Toxic), band names ([My] Chemical Romance, AC/DC), strung/randomly tossed together slang phrases (Chettle Shizzle), real crimes (Arson, Great Bodily Injury, Aggravated Assault, Necrophilia, Accomplice to Murder), jeez anything. I think the main problem people have in this area is looking for names that fit what (insert current/past promotion) would name their events. That's no fun. Think of what you envision the event to be like and choose a name you think fits. Like, one of the names I discarded for my diary was for the December PPV: Extinction Level Event, which is a scientific term that fits an end of year occurance IMO.

Who Farted?

Now THAT'S an awesome event name, lol. It'd definitely stick out in a fan's mind for a while. Just imagine the promos a wrestler would cut: "At Who Farted?, I'm gonna blow in like the wind and take you down a peg or two, little man, and I'm gonna take back MY World Heavyweight Title!".

Great stuff, I love it.

Another that I came up with long ago was Manslaughter. I always thought that was pretty good. And I've often used UpRyzing!, (Uprising, either/or) as a TV show title, but it could probably be a good event name also.

Also, missions from Grand Theft Auto/Saints Row can make quite good PPV names. Hmm...

Some of my favorite I've used:

Brawlapalooza
Aim to Misbehave
Desperate Times, Desperate Measures
Whiskey Bent and Hellbound (I think those three are perefct for a southern promotion)
No Surrender
WrestleFest

Of course the Roddy Piper classic could also double as a ppv name....Hell Comes to Frogtown!!

Yeah, and you can use 'Who Pooted?' interchangeably with that.

Seriously, any game with named missions can provide event names. Some more obscure names:

Richter 9.3 (the earthquake that caused the tsunami in Asia back in '04. Can use 9.5 as well, that being the strongest earthquake ever recorded. And we all know what earthquakes do/lead to, yes? )

Look through Def Leppard's discography. Their songs are tailor made for wrestling events (Hysteria? Adrenalize? Yeah! Rock of Ages, Armageddon It, yes, even Pour Some Sugar On Me). Same with Bon Jovi (Wanted Dead or Alive, Blaze of Glory, Livin' on a Prayer, Bad Medicine, Livin' in Sin, etc). Game titles and subtitles ([Halo] Combat Evolved, Dead or Alive, Perfect Dark, Quest for Glory, King's Quest, Phantasmagoria, I Have No Mouth [But I Must Scream]), heh don't get me started. Look at Arnold Schwarzenegger's movie credits. True Lies, Eraser, Raw Deal, Red Heat, Total Recall.

The one thing I usually tell folks having trouble coming up with names is to look around their computer. Typically, you'll see game cases/boxes with names that don't immediately jump out at you ("They're game titles, wtf!") but I find the ideas just spring to mind once a seed is planted. In my SHIMMER game, I named the January event 'Born Again', because I was listening to 'Dead Wrong' by the Notorious B.I.G. (off the Born Again album) when I was doing the schedule. If the event in question has a real event tie-in (think: WCW Hog Wild), that can help create the name as well.

When in doubt, just look around you.

Whoa, that list does look very familiar, I think I had that list copied and pasted somewhere also. Seems like it's been years since I've seen it too, actually, though I might be wrong on that. I swear I've seen it before though.

Some interesting names on that list.
