Default Spectacle vs. Sport?

I'm eagerly anticipating the release, Adam. But I had a question.

Until last year, there were two super powers in MMA. the UFC and PRIDE. UFC was more conservative, and tried to present MMA as a sport. While PRIDE on the other hand was a full-blown spectacle, with elaborate entrances and angles played out on shows.

My question is, are we going to be able to emulate the "spectacle" feeling that a group like PRIDE had?

Pride was also notable for booking awesome matches on the same card with rediculous matches. Booking a professional wrestler against Gary Goodridge. Bad idea.

I wouldn't call PRIDE a spectacle. Yes they had some outlandish matches and so forth, but they were still a MMA organization putting on great matches between top talent.

Japan is an entirely different market where things have to be altered and done a certain way, and that's all I think PRIDE was doing and what places such as K-1 continue to do.

Saku, Coleman, Randleman, Shamrock, among a vast majority of others were also professional wrestlers. They all had decent backgrounds which also made them legit fighters.

Angles and Storylines have already been confirmed as not being in, I don't think they have any business being in an MMA sim.

There are no entrances in the game - I don't really see how they'd be used to effect the game in any way, other than having a "Yes \ No" choice on them. If my wrestling games don't handle entrances, there's no way my MMA sim is going to be using them!

Booking "spectacle" matches is possible, assuming you have a database that contains those sort of fighters in it in the first place!

I guess all you would have to do is create a ton fighters who are really popular in a certain region (Asia, if your emulating PRIDE) but with poor skill-sets.

I'm not really sure how this works, but I believe fighters can refuse to fight other fighters....so if you were to create somone who was essentially a crap fighter with high popularity, he may refuse to fight a suitable 'main event' performer due to it being a missmatch. Can anyone confirm/deny/ellaborate on that?
