March 9: Destination X PPV in Norfolk, VA

This part worries me. When WWE comes here (or more accurately to the Hampton Colisseum. I can't remember the last time they played Scope.) it's almost impossible to not know it for all the promotional blitz that happens. But for all the buzz TNA has generated in the area for Destination X, it might as well be Northeast Alaska Championship Wrestling that's coming to Scope and not a nationally televised promotion like TNA. And this is a PPV. This isn't even a run of the mill card. This is supposed to be one of their big cash cows and nary a low or a moo about it in local advertising. The mind boggles.

Its sad they are considering this a "throw-away" PPV.

I think the point of the thread has been missed completely. I think it's just some Wrestling News someone posted without thinking. I bet that guy will get fired.

As for considering it a throw-away PPV... TNA does this with pretty much every PPV (except maybe Bound for Glory). They only advertise on iMPACT! and online. Apparently it has worked for them, or maybe anything else would cost too much money, or wouldn't bring enough results. I remember hearing the same thing about Against All Odds, and they apparently papered that PPV quite a bit. Although for an arena like the Scope, maybe they should be doing more. I don't think people should be complaining about how TNA runs its business... At least until they fix their booking, as that's more important, IMO.

I myself see nothing wrong with it. Why would this bug anyone? It's good for wrestling period, for people to get exposure.

These area's of the sight are alot of the times non "Kafabe". They also have something about Bobby Lashley going to TNA as well.

Maybe they're opening the floodgates and are letting the fact that other promotions exist, into their kayfabe world? Doesn't strike me as smart, but I'm not going to lose any sleep about it.

For TNA, better booking isn't more important than getting a hold on their finances. From what I understand, they're losing LOADS of money on a weekly basis. They should get their company in check to become a legitimate, profitable business that can take care of their employees. Although I will concede that Business Strategy isn't something WE should giving advice on.

Yeah, last I heard, they had managed to stop the bleeding. If not making a profit, they are at least not losing very much money. And ratings seem to be going up without a lot of advertising. And since when is wrestling "legitimate"? Hell, until Eddie died, there was very little in the way of "taking care of employees" either.

you know... I was thinking, this isnt a bad idea at all by WWE. They give their fanbase alternatives, helps raise the buyrates of other PPV, and raise attendance of Indie shows, raises the overall wrestling fanbase, which in turn means bigger profits for WWE... Oh wait, the last time they did this was Lawler's Extremely Crappy Wrestling

I like it, but I'm afraid it's going to be one of those WWE.com features that last all of two weeks.

The Lawler thing was part of it. But they also apparently fed ECW money, as well as workers. Guys who became ECW stars like Justin Credible were WWF jobbers who were sent to ECW, sorta like they do now with developmentals.

Every other promotion in the world will talk about other promotions. I think it is just the wwe trying to keep up. I don't see them ever saying, Hey tna is having a ppv on such and such a date on live tv. Maybe they actuly mention other promotions like roh or tna when a guy *like punk* is on screen to talk about his past.
