Repetitive Match Penalty Question

So I know it exists obviously but having never gotten penalized for this I am wondering what would the penalty actually be if you were to book a match when it says it would be the fourth time what would happen?

HA HA! I know for a fact that that doesn't happen, I know the match does get a lower rating and it is mentioned in the road agent notes that the match is taking place for the fourth time but yeah other than that I am wondering what else happens. If your 4th (or more) match is better than the rest before repetitive booking penalties are applied then you won't lose anything. And theoretically you're booking should be ensuring that your workers are getting more popular (and perhaps a little more talented too) as the feud progresses... plus with the use of high prestige matches to slightly boost the match rating, avoiding the penalties should be relatively easy for your rising stars. For main eventers who have capped out already or midcarders who are just in a holding pattern, maybe not so easy.

It's more than that. When I played with it on, a normally certain B+/A match would fall to D+/C-. That's about 30-40 points down. The penalty is massive.

I thought match prestige didn't affect match ratings?

I believe that the penalty is based on the strength of the matches before, and also possibly the match's siting on the card. I had a Bumfholes/Pain Alliance grade out at a C or so, which I wouldn't have noticed as being penalised if it hadn't been highlighted. That was in the early stages of my B show.

There isn't a dirt sheet note about it... but with a top prestige match I noticed about 5 points of difference between what I'd get compared with a basic match. I'm not a big user of gimmick matches so when they grade higher than I'd expect I tend to notice the effects.

It could just be that I've gotten lucky and received better results by chance, especially since it's a small sample size, but I'm fairly sure it's true.

I've seen lower penalty gaps than that, but you're not the first I've heard mention a severe drop. Possibly varies according to product.

Or I can't remember what the values were. Or, there might be a floor. I think I went 50s -> 30s or so, so...dunno.

Hmmm...I guess I'll start using some top prestige matches then. Will observe this closely. I'm with James Casey, I thought that match prestige was for filtering only, as stated in the help file.

Alright thanks, I am playing a game with NYCW and was hoping that I wouldn't run into it being that the promotion only has one show a month. I have ran into it once and still ran the mathc regardless but it really didn't seem to affect anything. I am going to try and not do it again though because I don't want to take a chance of falling to in size because I did a match for the fourth time because that could affect the rating and single handedly cause my fall in size.

Regardless of what the help file says, I have yet to hold a match at the highest prestige level garner less than an A/A* grade.

As always, if you hit the penalty and you don't think it's going to be a better match, you can always run it in the pre-show as well. A five minute non-finish packed with run-ins will tank the match rating regardless, and drop the average of all matches to a point where the fifth match (the 'televised' one) will go over fine.

Just remember to follow the pre-show match with a hot angle to get the crowd warmed up before the show starts.
